Evening all!

Just getting this out there, so that everyone knows where to go/what to do in the morning.

Here's the link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I'd like to say a massive thank you and Flowers to Sayrra and Wombattoo who set this up and maintain it for us all.

PLEASE don't touch anything other than the cell where you input your weight.

If your name isn't on the list, just add it to the bottom, and it will be magically re-alphabetised to include you.

It's called the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness because of all the information and resources that are available to us. Look at the tabs at the bottom - the rules are there, along with the veg counter, and all manner of resources for you to read up more about low carbing.

If you can't access it, or can't input your weight, just add your weight to the chat thread, and someone will do it for you. (I believe it's difficult to do it from your phone).

But more than anything else, a massive good luck to you all!

All I can say to you is follow the rules!

It does work, but only if you follow them.

Good luck everyone.

One thing I must post, while I remember:

I am not a doctor, medic, nurse, nutritionist or dietician. I have no medical or scientific training of any kind. The things I post here are based on whatever I have read, plus my own experience.

If you are on any kind of medication - especially for hypertension or your cholesterol, or anything else that's long term - please check with your GP if low carb is going to work for you. The reason for this is that low carbing is likely to help to lower your blood pressure and cholesterol, which could mean that your dosage will be too high.

saying hi - was aiming to get back in the fitness saddle this week (after two weeks of the stinking cold) and have a couple of stone to shift. I know low carb suits me, so I'm off to prepare food for breakfast and lunch tomorrow - thanks for being there

HoneyDragon · 05/02/2017 22:06

I'm trying to nix sugar BIWI ..... I've lost a stone through calorie counting and exercise. It's the last half that's proving a bugger.

BIWI · 05/02/2017 22:07

It's tough, HD. You have my every sympathy.

But it is the work of the devil :D

Good luck, losers Grin

cuddlymunchkin · 05/02/2017 22:13

I've just eaten the last of the m + m sweets and feel ready to take on boot camp. Bring it on!

sheepysheep · 06/02/2017 00:00

Thanks BIWI for the shiny new thread Smile

Good luck fellow losers

If you're dipping your toes in the low carb waters then Gary Taubes' new book The Case Against Sugar is very compelling. It is a little hard going but some of the revelations in there are alarming. He links sugar consumption to insulin resistance which is implicated in a whole host of health conditions.

Imissmy0ldusername · 06/02/2017 06:39

Good morning oh shiny Low Carbers! I started following the rules as best as my storecupboard could manage on Friday, following a flare up of an old foot injury which can only have really flared up due to the 4 stones of comfort which have piled on over the last 10 years. I've tried this before, but with FAR too much dairy by the looks of things, so am sticking to 2 cups of tea, and a tiny splash of cream in food. My tongue is already really clear, and yesterday evening, the Tigger feeling kicked in, after feeling a bit rotten over the weekend. Luckily, I was able to not leave the flat, and crochet squares for Wooly Hugs. With the ketone breath kicking in, and the "No Tea Grump" occurring, this was probably safest for all in my neck of the woods!

Today will be:
B: Streaky bacon & mushroom omlette (treated myself to duck eggs)
L: Left over roast chicken, mayo & 1/2 an avocado with coleslaw & cucumber (we have no lettuce - aargh!)
D: Either pork belly or chicken thighs, depending on what I fancy with asparagus, broccoli & some more coleslaw

I do like the fact that I don't fall asleep at my desk after lunch when I'm LC'ing - it will make a big difference this week in my work output, I'm sure !

Good luck one & all - and thank you to all involved in the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness - if all diet plans had one of these, imagine how much of the diet industry would go out of business!

ChesterDrawers · 06/02/2017 06:48

ChesterDrawers reporting for duty! Not weighing at the moment so will steer clear of the SoF.

After a carbtastic week celebrating DH's 40th this couldn't have come at a better time.

Today's plan:
B: rf greek yog
L: eggs, bacon, mushrooms all cooked in lots of butter
D: I have some tuna steaks so will have a look and find a nice suitable recipe

Good luck everyone.

snowdonstreet · 06/02/2017 07:04

Are we allowed the tiniest bit of milk in tea [gets ready to hide from BIWI's big stick]....

Off to uni soon - not even going near the cafe or my 2 daily lattes will jump out at me.

Good luck all

CaptainBraandPants · 06/02/2017 07:13

Place marking , will report for duty later. Grin

GuyMartinsSideburns · 06/02/2017 07:16

Good morning all, could someone put my weight in please? 134. Thanks.

I'm having a coffee with cream, can't eat first thing.

Lunch will be smoked salmon and salad leaves, I'll have a think about dinner once I'm awake Grin Toddler ds isn't letting me have a whole nights sleep lately and I've woken with a cricked neck so wicked start to my day here Hmm

playmobilpeacock · 06/02/2017 07:25

Good morning everyone.

I find LC quite tough to stick to as I'm constantly cooking for two young children. I'm constantly baking for cake sales etc but I'm determined to lose this weight.

Breakfast this morning was scrambled eggs, half an avocado and a couple of cherry tomatoes.

I'm absolutely stuffed!

Lunch will be leftover roast chicken with salad and mayonnaise and dinner is venison and broccoli.

The bit I'm dreading is drinking so much water. I generally don't drink at all. I have one cup of coffee in the morning and that's about it.

momofgirls · 06/02/2017 07:28

Thank you Biwi, wombattoo and Sayrra for this programme & ensuring we can all start today.
This is my fourth bootcamp since jan 2016 and it works if you can stick with it and don't become disheartened if you stall ( week 3&4) can be slower loss.

I'm starting at slightly less than when I finished last bootcamp after having a carb Christmas & longer.
Have been low carbing I for last two weeks to lose the 4lb I had put on in Dec / Jan

My plan today
Breakfast Greek yogurt
Lunch eggs & mayo avocado
Dinner beef, broccoli in lemon garlic sauce, spinach.

Good luck everyone.

OwlInAnOakTree · 06/02/2017 07:43

Morning all, just looking at the spreadsheet of fabulousness which really is fab...reading through the rules again... Thanks BIWI, Sayrra and Wombattoo for laying this all out so simply for us.

I weigh 167lbs today, that's 7lbs lighter than last Monday when I started following Michael Mosley's 8-Week Blood Sugar Diet. (Although I've been averaging around 1100 calories a day instead of his recommended 800).

BIWI, I'd be interested in your thoughts on that diet? Seems similar to BC (or BC Light) except for the calorie counting. I know from previous dieting that I only lose weight when I'm eating under 1300 calories. I'm eating full fat things, but limiting them somewhat, I guess, in order to stay in the calorie count. Would you advise against this?

BursarsFrogs · 06/02/2017 07:54

Morning all, and thanks BIWI, wombattoo and SayrraT.

I've just had a very carb and wine heavy few days, getting rid of stuff in the house, and I'm bloated and feeling heavy now - and the scales agreed. Oh well.

I'm definitely a breakfast person, and have always been. I just tend to be hungry in the mornings, and I need to eat something to take my medication with anyway. I sometimes delay my breakfast though, so I don't eat first thing in the morning, but wait a few hours.

Must. Stay. Away. From. MFP...

BIWI · 06/02/2017 07:55

snowdonstreet you can have the tiniest bit of milk in your tea as long as:

  • it's full fat
  • it really is only a teeny amount
  • you don't have a million cups a day!

The carbs in milk can really add up quickly if you're not restrained

OwlInAnOakTree - I'm very interested in that diet, least of all because it's strongly influenced by the professor at Newcastle University (sorry, I've forgotten his name - Roy or Ray something?), who has discovered that a very low calorie diet can reverse type 2 diabetes.

What the blood sugar diet advises is essentially a lower carb way of eating; clearly when you're on the 800 cals per day, you won't be sloshing olive oil on your food, but their recommendation when you've finished the 8 weeks is to adopt a lower carb diet. They include pulses, I believe, which aren't allowed on Bootcamp - but then Bootcamp is only for 10 weeks, and if you wanted to relax things after that and include pulses, then that's fine.

So I don't advise against calorie counting, if you're mostly low carbing - it's just that one of the core principles of Bootcamp is that there is no counting, as this helps to keep things simple.

One key thing is that a calorie isn't a calorie isn't a calorie - calories from carbs will do you far more harm than calories from fat or protein. Which is why generally we don't advocate calorie counting! It's very easy a) to become obsessed with counting and b) to revert to low calorie/low fat and generally pretty artificial foods

TheRippedOutPage · 06/02/2017 07:56

I've started this morning with a peppermint tea instead of my usual coffee, white and one sugar 😁

For breakfast I've had a protein shake (almond milk, whey powder and peanut butter).

If I eat early in a morning I will be sick. Hope this is ok?

Flisspaps · 06/02/2017 08:10

Breakfast - 3 egg omelette with cheese, ham and mushrooms because my bacon had gone off Blush

Week 1 Early Spring Low Carb Bootcamp - at last!
Looneytune253 · 06/02/2017 08:29

I have just joined guys. Been loosely doing low carb for a cpl of weeks so time to ramp it up and join in with you guys.

OwlInAnOakTree · 06/02/2017 08:30

BIWI, that's right - Professor Roy Taylor. Smile

Understand your point re obsessing and reverting to low-cal. I am sticking to full fat food, as I'm generally anti 'fat-free' anyway. Thanks for your thoughts on it.

Scrambled egg for breakfast for me, I think.

Kleptronic · 06/02/2017 08:50

I've been BC light since xmas and shifted 2lb of xmas weight. I am so desperate to lose a stone, been trying all last year and never got anywhere! Really need to look at my portion sizes because I'm pretty much low carb all the time anyway.

Kleptronic · 06/02/2017 08:52

4lb I lost 4lb! Robbing myself there!

momofgirls · 06/02/2017 08:53

Tip for all following low carb. if you take your body measurements at start of bootcamp it will help you monitor your progress. Weight is not all you will lose and you will notice changes in. Clothes fitting
