Really sorry everyone - I've been stupidly busy recently and was at work really early yesterday so completely forgot to start the new chat thread.

It's an especially heinous crime too, seeing as I should have been guiding you all into the careful decision that you need to make for week 3 - i.e. whether to move on to Bootcamp Light, stay on Bootcamp or do Bootcamp during the week and Bootcamp Light at the weekend

Anyway if you haven't already, here's the spreadsheet for you to input your latest weight

It's also time for me to issue the standard week 3 warning:

IT'S VERY COMMON IN WEEKS 3 AND 4 (AND SOMETIMES 5) FOR YOUR WEIGHT LOSS TO SLOW RIGHT DOWN OR EVEN STOP. THIS IS NOTHING UNUSUAL. IF THIS HAPPENS TO YOU, DON'T DESPAIR - JUST KEEP ON KEEPING ON AND THINGS WILL START TO MOVE AGAIN SOON

Hey everyone
s/s updated.
Eighties I think it is quite common for periods to become erratic when your body first adjusts to this way of eating. It will settle down.
Thanks for the new thread BIWI

Haribo/scales story made me chuckle too.

I am feeling very peckish today which is annoying. Longing for the no appetite phase to kick in…..

Also, BIWI, can I just ask why butter is allowed in unlimited quantities when other dairy isn't? Given that butter is dairy. Just trying to get my head around it and stop myself eating cheese non-stop

One of the reasons I started LCHF was because I have PCOS and my periods were horrendous - irregular, v heavy and v long. Since I've started this WOE 2 months ago my periods have been regular, light and short! It's only been 2 cycles so we'll see what happens in the next few months, but clearly carbs/insulin do have some kind of effect on our hormones.

2 pounds down this week, though I suspect I will suddenly lose more suddenly as I am having a period now and feel really bloated. Problem is I don't usually have them, the last one I had was in 2007! Is this normal?

... because butter is 80% fat!

From authority nutrition:

Is Butter a Dairy Product?

Dairy Products

Anything made from the milk of mammals is considered to be dairy.

Since butter is made from milk, it’s a dairy product.

Despite this, it is often allowed on dairy-free diets. While this might seem contradictory, there are several explanations.

People who can’t tolerate dairy usually have problems with either the proteins or carbohydrates in milk.

Those with a milk allergy have an allergic reaction to the proteins found in milk, while those who are lactose intolerant cannot digest lactose, the main carbohydrate in milk.

Additionally, some people who have irritable bowel syndrome may do better avoiding lactose (2).

However, unlike most dairy products, butter contains mostly fat and very little protein and carbs. Therefore, people who must follow a lactose-free diet or avoid dairy for other reasons are usually able to eat it without problems (1).

Nevertheless, this is not the case for people who have a milk allergy.

Even though butter contains almost no protein, even trace amounts can cause a reaction. This means it is not safe for people with a milk protein allergy.

Bottom Line: Butter is made from milk, making it a dairy product. However, it’s allowed on some dairy-free diets because it’s low in protein and carbs.

Strawberry haribo Grin

I'm sticking with BC as well. My plan is BC light at Christmas (nuts and raspberries and cream and dark chocolates with a glass of wine instead of mince pies, Christmas pud, a tin (or two) of Roses and a bottle of Baileys.

So today was

Br. Sausages and bacon

Snack. A slice of belly pork

Dinners. Belly pork and buttered cauliflower.

All the bonfire night sausages and bacon are gone now, so no more processed meat for a while.

Thank you, BIWI Flowers.

Happy with how things have kicked off in my first 10 days back. Decent loss, my husband even says he can see it in my face.

Just had yummy meatballs with roasted veg - all dripping in meat juices and olive oil.

My plan is to eat like a pig at Christmas (bad, but at least honest) which is why I want to get myself back on track now so building from a lower base….

. I think Christmas will be ok here. We're planning on getting a shitload of cheese etc, and we tend to drink red wine anyway, which is lower in carbs. Maybe another ubercamp a few days before.

Italy weight gone - and another pound too! Dead chuffed. Had been low carbing before boot camp so am probably in the slow and steady phase of weight loss now (apart from half-term pasta madness in Florence Blush).

Out for dinner, Byron, skinny burger. Cheese, salad and sparkling water - felt like a saint!

Well done Seaside on the Italy weight!

My day boringly same as yesterday except I had some yoghurt, frozen raspberries and coconut flakes in the eve - nice to have a bit of fruit.

Morning! Out and about a lot today- I'll be spending most of it on various busses! Can anyone recommend stuff I can buy from M&S or Tesco to keep me going? I'm at the bus stop already- don't even have time for breakfast! I need things I can keep in my bag, which doesn't have to be refrigerated.

Oh, one more question (sorry). I know my weight loss will slow down, but will it when I hit the right weight for me? I should be happy at a 1.5 stone weight loss, but it's scary too. Is there a way to slow it down some so I can avoid saggy skin, etc?

Coming on here to avoid the news. I actually put on 3 pounds last week Blush because I completely caved - Halloween and 3 birthdays, with parties and cake. I find that if I start eating sugary things I just carry on and on. Back on low carb now til Christmas. Boiled eggs and mayo for breakfast, chicken salad w olive oil, then maybe steak for tea. Will try posting more to keep me going!

Trying to be good today, but I feel super carb-fluey. Time of the month has also arrived, with the accompanying blues.

Food will be:
B: scrambled eggs
L: lemon butter chicken over courgetti
D: chicken salad

M&S do great low carb snacks - my favourite is crackling strips which are absoutely amazing! Like a porky cheese straw! No carbs.
