Week 4 - Pre-summer Low Carb Bootcamp: are you KOKO?!

BIWI · 06/06/2016 07:40

Morning all!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Doom Fabulousness

Week 3 might not have been kind to you - and here's the warning that week 4 might be the same Sad

But hopefully by now you're starting to adjust to low carbing, and should be feeling some of the other benefits, even if the scales are resolutely ignoring you!

If you're struggling, come here and tell us about it. Don't self-sabotage by thinking 'oh fuck it' and diving into the carbs!

Going to London for a couple of days, eating is going to be tough but I might just have to ride with it and hope for the best.

reader77 · 09/06/2016 08:05

I really wanted banoffee pie last night.

Had tuna salad instead.

Weight is still coming off steadily but slowly. ( I did weigh again)

I want to lose about ten pounds more. It feels possible now.

Gcalgske · 09/06/2016 08:23

I love roast radishes, a lot of people say they taste 'just like potatoes' but they don't. They taste like roast radishes, which are yummy. Especially when roast in the pork fat drool
Swede chips are on the carby side so I tend to have a very light (carb wise) lunch on swede chip days.

Wintersea · 09/06/2016 08:27

Wow equiem - that's loads! Well done, you!
On my first coffee with cream after seeing off nervous DD who has maths GCSE this am...

reader77 · 09/06/2016 08:37

My dd is doing her maths GCSE this am as well Wintersea!

BursarsFrogs · 09/06/2016 08:53

I've been a carby twat. Sad Blush

I got completely overwhelmed by something and escaped into bad, unhelpful coping mechanisms... and ate and entire pizza last night. It's not as bad as it could have been (no insane binge, no purging), but I'm not exactly feeling proud of myself.

Still, today's another day.

HumphreyCobblers · 09/06/2016 09:13

Yes, that was yesterday BursarsFrogs. Don't worry too much, just go for it today. You can do it!

NotdeadyetBOING · 09/06/2016 09:15

Flowers for Frog

As you say - today's another day. In the great scheme of things what's a pizza among friends? Could have been MUCH worse. My poor coping mechanisms usually involve the jumbo size pot of Nutella and a spoon….

Hope you are feeling better today.

Veryflummoxed · 09/06/2016 09:15

FlowersBursar. Be kind to yourself today. Plan some very delicious low carb food and plenty of it. Have loads of water. Hope things resolve quickly.

lisbapalea · 09/06/2016 09:22

Morning all!

Crap start to the day with a missed train connection that renders my stupidly early start completely pointless so now I have that agitated, stressy feeling that I will be arriving at a meeting an hour later than planned.

Still, on the plus side I packed myself a LC breakfast which I ate on a bench at Birmingham New Street while seething that I had missed my connecting train!

Went to Nandos last night and the plan for chicken thighs plus salad with extra halloumi and avocado was a brilliant one. I may have slightly succumbed to carb twattery peer pressure at the cinema however, but, like bursar I see today as a new day and I am not going to use it as an excuse for a longer term cock up.

Lunch today will prob be a pret chicken salad from Leeds station and then dinner tonight will be salmon with asparagus and hollandaise.

I am 750ml down already but need to keep guzzling to flush out yesterday's misdemeanour......

Mookbark · 09/06/2016 09:41

Morning all, just catching up as I've not had chance to post for a few days.
We have all succumbed to carby twattery, but today is another day, so KOKO and Flowers.
After my carby twattery last week, I am having a good week. Had the buttered chicken with cauli rice yesterday, which was lovely. I've forgotten to get something out of the freezer for tonight, but we have eggs, bacon and some veg left, so it looks like we will be an omelette or frittata tonight. As I'm having scrambled eggs with prosciutto for lunch, looks like an egg heavy day! Oh, and I've got a hb egg, with halloumi and olives for breakfast. Grin Might need an egg free day tomorrow.

BursarsFrogs · 09/06/2016 09:47

Thanks everyone Flowers. DH has bipolar disorder and had a bit of a crash yesterday, which just started me worrying hugely. I think ordering the pizzas was a shared comfort thing really. He's home today and needing a lot of TLC, but I'm not feeling as panicked about it. It's just how life sometimes is.

I've had some coconut oily tea and a huge avocado for breakfast. I'm heading out soon and plan to buy myself a salmon salad and some fancy mineral water for lunch. Dinner plan is courgetti bolognese. Might get some dark chocolate really, too.

reader77 · 09/06/2016 10:12

FlowersBursar

It's changing the habits that's so hard isn't it, especially when food=comfort.

I'm doing all the right things, I know I look better and have lost weight..but I feel fat for no reason today. Far days are so annoying.

MothershipG · 09/06/2016 10:45

Well done for climbing back on the wagon Bursars.

I've been trying to listen more when my body tells me I'm not hungry/full. But I realise I have a problem with this; growing up we were a no snacking kind of family and you got fed well at meal times. so I got into the habit of eating a bit more than I needed as I knew there would be nothing to keep me going if I didn't.

I'm finding that I'm still thinking that way, even though I've given my self permission to snack if I need to. It's proving a hard habit to break. Confused

Gcalgske · 09/06/2016 10:58

Flowers bursars I have my own MH problems and I medicate my anxiety with food. It's such a hard thing to care for someone else, you need to look after yourself too!

Good luck to all with exam stress DC.

At ballet class with my DD, normally have a black coffee with cream with the other ballet mums but I managed to get my car key stuck in the ignition and had to wait for a man to help me so I missed my coffee and am consequently starving. Weird as I normally IF until about 2pm on other days, think it's a mental thing as I was expecting my creamy coffee.

Going to Morrisons cafe on the way to nursery drop off so will have 2 fried eggs, mushrooms and bacon with little pats of butter in my coffee. They cook in veg oil so not ideal but ok in a pinch.

Hope the family is ok titsalina

CiderwithBuda · 09/06/2016 11:37

KOKO Bursars. Ok the pizza wasn't ideal BUT it sounds as if it could have been much worse and completely thrown you into binging. And it didn't. So well done you. Congratulate yourself on that victory.

I was so hoping for a whoosh this morning but unfortunately not. Sad

Need to make sure I drink my water today. Am not quite drinking all my water.

Stopped off a Lidl and bought some pork belly slices to have tonight. Am going to look back over all the suggestions for what to do with them. Will have with leeks, mushrooms and courgetti I think.

Lunch will be prosciutto, mozzarella, tomato and avocado on a bed of leaves. And I have just remembered I am out of mayo. Bum. I should make my own shouldn't i?

regularbutpanickingabit · 09/06/2016 12:20

Afternoon!
Made pork belly slices fried in coconut oil and covered in waitrose 5 spice mix. Threw in a handful of baby tomatoes and a glug of cream. Served t with broccoli, butter and Parmesan. Divine.

B: 3 scrambled eggs in butter with cream
L: mozzarella, avocado, tomato and olive oil
D: the other packed of pork belly slices. Just need to decide how to do them.

Snacks - none so far and am at a client office today so don't expect to have anything else this afternoon. Probably ff fage yog and celery/cream cheese when I get home and start cooking.

Gcalgske · 09/06/2016 13:18

Morrisons have a good deal on pork shoulder....pulled pork is in my future Grin

saffynool · 09/06/2016 13:31

Hello all!

We are having beef brisket tonight but am having a bit of a mental block about what to serve with it. Probably roasted broccoli and I did buy some baby sprouts the other day so possibly some of them fried with garlic? Am a bit of a sprout-refuser myself though (Dp and ds love 'em) so they need to be bloody delicious before I'll eat them Grin

Working from home today so lunch will be tuna mayo and halloumi, I think, with some salad leaves. Does that sound odd?

Plus, some sunshine!!

flyright · 09/06/2016 13:46

client dinner last night resulted in about three quarters of a bottle of wine - not good. I think I was pretty on track foodwise though but its hard to know

scales were up this morning

trying to be strict today but feeling vaguely hungover and want to eat.

Have had
one scrambled egg
yoghurt and blueberries
chicken curry and cauliflower rice - made a big batch 2 weeks ago and found one lurking in the freezer - very helpful for lunch at work

dinner in some sort of chicken breast with broccoli, mushrooms and leeks

not to be followed by any chocolate.

think someone mentioned exams - DD is doing A levels- and keeping remarkably calm so far. Good luck to other exam doing households. Roll on summer.

PlayNice · 09/06/2016 14:26

Breakfast: boiled eggs
Lunch: roasted vegetable 'lasagna' with radish and tomato salad
Dinner: lemon grilled chicken breast with cauli tabboleh.
Snacks: FF yogurt with a side of unshakable good intentions.

lexloofah · 09/06/2016 14:30

play, I think there are a few combo-s we could do but would add maybe mix of yog and water as otherwise they will be too hard I think, needs either loads of fruit or juice to soften them normally. Berry ones would be good. I will look out for some moulds ta!

discovered today that Waitrose café do a bunless burger with bacon and cheese, it came with salad, coleslaw, gherkins and fries - which I promptly despatched back to the kitchen. Was pretty good actually.

bit stressed here, we are moving from one rental to another and current landlord has started to get a bit shitty now they know we are leaving, honestly is there really any need for that, it's all smiles when you are paying the rent (their mortgage) and they as soon as you say you are off it goes sour, jeez. Anyway trying not to stress eat and hoping upcoming weekend away with my lovely DSis will take my mind off it

reader77 · 09/06/2016 14:49

I had left over broccoli so I made broccoli hash. Mashed the broccoli with garlic and chilli. Mixed in an egg and some cheese and chorizo. Fried it in butter. I hope it's nice.

Gcalgske · 09/06/2016 14:59

I made coconut water and raspberry ice lollies which are v v v nice. The naked brand coconut water is only 2.6g/100ml. My lolly moulds are about 100ml each so I add a few raspberries in each and they are so nice.

flyright · 09/06/2016 15:03

I like the sound of those coconut lollies. Need to get moulds.
