Morning all! I'm excited to see what the scales are telling everyone this week - it sounds like we've had some great results so far!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Here's to another successful week

Glad it wasn't just me who thought the GP comment was inappropriate, she is lovely - she is a registrar at the practice so still training I think. I'm going to write to the Practice Manager - not a complaint but more of a suggestion!

Good news is no headache this morning! First morning without him waking up at 5ish with a headache for over two weeks.

Indian - dehydration has def been an issue in the past. Am nagging as much as I can! The vit d is interesting. I will bear that in mind.

Food plan for the day
B - scrambled eggs with feta
L - smoked mackerel salad
D - chicken stuffed with mozzarella, tomato and basil prob with courgetti with some pesto through it

Drinking a glass of warm water with lemon juice in an effort to increase my water intake.

Sneaky weigh in - another 2lbs down which makes it 7lbs since start of Bootcamp. Am chuffed.

monkeyfacegrace · 26/05/2016 08:56

And always take the lowest weight and hop off before it can change again. Well that's what I do anyway.

CiderwithBuda · 26/05/2016 08:58

Oh - my only comment on those Konjac noodles is that I use knojac sponges to wash my face! Just saying!

WanHeda · 26/05/2016 09:05

I have eaten the konjac noodles a coupel of times and never had any side effects from them.

WanHeda · 26/05/2016 09:07

I started LCing 4 weeks ago today, so did a sneaky weigh-in - total of 1 stone 1lb off!

stilllovingmysleep · 26/05/2016 09:08

Monkeyfacegrace it's Konjac hell!! Glad to hear there's two of us although I'm sorry to hear you suffered so much. My stomach still feels as if there's a football in it. I'm looking forward to BIWI's thought. I am unsure whether I'll be able to face anything Konjac related in my life but I too bought 6 packets so I might try a forkful at a time or something like that. But 30 packets Confused!!

stilllovingmysleep · 26/05/2016 09:25

By the way I never knew that high levels of fibre could have this effect. I wonder if it's in any way related to our LC way of eating or not at all related. So which foods are super high fibre (like Konjac noodles seem to be) so that I can be careful?

WanHeda · 26/05/2016 09:27

Tucking into my favourite breakfast of BLT, using lettuce as a wrap.

IndianaJone · 26/05/2016 09:37

cider I just saw that gp said abt tumour in front of our son!! How can you not know not to say as a sane reasonable person?? Id be quite upset to be honest. My boy suffered for abt 6 weeks so I was getting really worried. His water intake was same as always so no reason for me to suspect more water needed. However, after gp advised and me on his back making sure he drinks at least 2 bottles if not a bit more and daily vitamin things are better for him. I really thought it was a brain tumour too as headaches at random times, waking with headaches and sleeping with them too. So stressful not knowing. I hope it's something similar or at least non scary for your son. Sending hugs.Flowers

On the weight front...im a daily weigher. No shift in scales since Monday. What's that all about?! Usually i can see at least a pound off im days. Hopong come next Monday scales will show something like a stone off! Only joking! Sort of.Wink

Gcalgske · 26/05/2016 09:40

still monkey I issued the warning
The konjac bungs is a well known low carb thing

It's agony

I'm so sorry for you, some people aren't effected but I am and it's a nightmare. Ball in the stomach, wind etc

You really really really need to keep portion size small 1/2 what they say on the pack is 'safe' in my experience but TBH I'm put off them now

LadyAntonella · 26/05/2016 09:54

Cider Flowers - definitely inappropriate of the GP to say that in front your DS.

CathemeralChild · 26/05/2016 10:04

Looks like lots of people had a bad day yesterday.
Mine was a disaster. :(
In fact, I'm not even going to confess my sins.
I'm going to spend the rest of my week drinking lots of water and eating green leafy veg, avoiding stuff like tomatoes, peppers etc on a bid to get back on track.
PMT is not helping, and I'm also very upset about something, but in view of things some of you are going through I need to get a grip.

BIWI · 26/05/2016 10:09

Eat those noodles fairly regularly and have never had an issue.

Lots of love Cider - what an awful thing for the GP to say Angry

Off to Copenhagen with DH for the long weekend, so see you all on Monday

Cathemeral so sorry you went off track but it happens and don't beat yourself up about it!! It's important that you've come back here to let us know. I would recommend in the next few days:
--drinking more water
--upping your fat intake
--lowering cheese maybe
--eating plenty of veg and moderate protein and I'm sure you'll be fine!

CathemeralChild · 26/05/2016 10:43

Yes. Hmmm. Cheese. I'm eating a lot of that.
I don't eat meat, and although I do eat fish sometimes I'm totally of it at the moment.
Nuts, lentils, chick peas are all out.
Maybe some tofu? Not the processed flavoured stuff, a proper block. I'm pretty sure that's low carb and I could slice and fry it with a green salad?
Well, obviously I wouldn't be frying the green salad. Grin

stilllovingmysleep · 26/05/2016 10:48

Cathemeral I think if you're vegetarian the rules of Bootcamp are slightly different, ie you're allowed nuts if I'm correct. Check the spreadsheet with the rules.

lexloofah · 26/05/2016 11:13

cathemeral Flowers sorry to hear you are having a rotten time and Flowers for those in konjac hell

BIWI, ooh have fun in Copenhagen, I am going there in a few weeks time so would love to hear about it and if it is possible, realistically to LC there, I have just read A Year of Living Danishly and it seems eating pastries features heavily in their culture and I might not be able to resist having just one genuine, authentic 'Danish pastry'.

regularbutpanickingabit · 26/05/2016 11:16

Not liking the sound of those noodles at all! Hope you recover.
Crap doc to say that in front of a 14 year old. What on earth was she thinking?? Glad he has woken up without a headache today.

Yesterday also dissolved in to a bit of a tired mess and I ate a whole packet of feta cheese pieces with olive oil from tescos as a snack. Yum but oops!

Thai pork curry was delicious, fried up all the bits with coconut oil.

So
B - triple egg and cream scramble
L - avocado and tomato and mozzarella with oil (again)
D - leftover thai curry, maybe with the cauli rice i need to use up. Or might fry that up for lunch tomorrow with something.

regularbutpanickingabit · 26/05/2016 11:18

Oh, can I ask for some help please? We are all off to a 3 day event for the weekend. Home in the evenings and overnight so can restock food. But I really don't know how to do all day picnics without the usual carb and snack fest.

What are your best picnic tips please? Things that are easy to eat, ok for me and for the kids (although I will make the sarnies and snacks anyway). Off to the supermarket this afternoon and have a bit of time this evening and tomorrow to actually cook anything if that's recommended.

Help much appreciated. Thank you!

WanHeda · 26/05/2016 11:38

regular - salad, chicken drumsticks, cooked lc sausages, ham & cream cheese roll ups, boiled eggs, cucumber slices topped with smoked salmon - those any good?

WanHeda · 26/05/2016 11:38

Also, those egg/cheese muffins

PlayNice · 26/05/2016 11:45

Awh, I had a bad day yesterday too Cathermal :(. And it was only my second day. I'm going to a rather fancy restaurant tomorrow where I may not be LC (as it's a set menu) so I think my motivation is down because I know that's happening.

I just ate snacks yesterday. Nothing else. On the upside, I now have no snacks left in my house so will hopefully stay strong today.

Picnic ideas:

  • Salami/parma ham roll-ups filled with cheese
  • mini sausages
  • cherry tomatoes
  • big (or mini) crustless quiche
  • guacamole or pate, with celery to dip for you, and maybe some bread for the kids?
  • cold grilled vegetable salad with aubergine, courgette, peppers, feta and olives
  • I always like the packs of roasted chicken drumsticks, or on one picnic I went on, we made cold chicken satay with a peanut sauce you could probably make quite LC.

Have fun!

SociallyAcceptableCookie · 26/05/2016 11:50

Hi everyone.

cider I'm so sorry that happened at the GO practice. Flowers

Re: Konjac noodles. I have taken capsules of the Konjac fibre as an appetite suppressant. It's a fibre that absorbs tons of water and takes up space in your stomach, moving slowly, so you eat less. I got on well with them but I drank about a litre of water every time. Otherwise they do cause wind, bloating, discomfort, etc. I definitely noticed the extra fibre afterwards, as well! So maybe the noodles are similar. I'm waiting for my next Amazon or ocado order to actual try these noodles but when I do it seems sensible to drink plenty of water, as we should do anyway, at the same time.

SociallyAcceptableCookie · 26/05/2016 11:51

GP not GO!

SayrraT · 26/05/2016 11:52

BIWI guess where I'm going this weekend!
