Hello margarita Smile

I think I'm going to have a go at making cloud bread tomorrow, I need something a bit different.

CiderwithBuda · 25/05/2016 22:28

Hi all..

Good day food wise for me.

B - ham and Philadelphia roll up
S - slice of cheese
L - salad leaves, four cherry toms, chicken, chopped red pepper, avocado, one slice of bacon and mayo dressing. It was so yummy!
D - cottage pie with cauliflower mash. Had forgotten how delicious that is. Also fried some cabbage greens in butter to have on the side.

Three teas with a splash of milk
2 l of water. Struggling with water so have ordered a bottle with an infuser to try to do better.

Had GP apt with DS today. They are referring him to hospital. Bloody doc actually asked me in front of him was I worried about a brain tumor. He has been very quiet since. Sad. Have tried talking to him but he doesn't want to talk. He is 14 and it's hard to get him to open up sometimes. We have private health insurance so going to call them in the morning to try to speed things up.

So, food chaos continued for me today with a veg noodle disaster this evening. Bought Boodles (butternut squash noodles) because Sainsbo's were out of courgetti, and made veg carbonara. My conclusion was that overly buggered about with veg doesn't do well in a plastic bag. The boodles were rank, smelt sour and sluggy (and hadn't gone off at least to look at) so I ended up picking out the bacon bits and chucking the rest. I'm a big fan of butternut but these tasted nothing like that - more like the inside of a leaky washing up glove. Not as big a disaster as it might have been as I'd had a big late lunch and I have a feeling butternut isn't approved anyway on bootcamp (must read rules again). So I ended up with:

B: BPC, fried egg with 4 cherry toms
S: chicken thigh, coffee + cream
L: 2 burgers, salad, bacon, cheese, Coffee + cream
D: handful bacon bits, tea + cream.

Thanks for the empathy stillloving! I miss porridge too! Hopefully we'll feel better tomorrow.

Gcalgske · 25/05/2016 23:51

Ugh cider you dr sounds like a nightmare, hope DS is ok Flowers

Gcalgske · 25/05/2016 23:53

Onemore you are right they aren't BC, they are above 3g/100g. Once on BC lite I have butternut occasionally.

IndianaJone · 26/05/2016 00:46

Cider glad that the radiotherapy went well. My hat is firmly off - doing boot camp at such a stressful time can't be easy. My boy also suffered from migraine's but blood results came back normal and they said he was functioning fine neurologically. In the end gp said to try vitamin supplements esp Vit D and also water. Touch wood its working. It seems that the little sips of water he was making do with throughout the day at school wasn't enough. Now he drinks at least 1 bottle at school and 1 at home. Just sharing...obvs it might be something entirely different which is causing your sons migraines. Hope the gp gets to the bottom of it quickly.

BIWI and Stuntnun (love the username) - thanks for sharing, bit of motivation for me. So this way of eating can be done for longer periods of time! Perhaps I can do it too...

Today was a ok day. Nothing exciting to report on food front. Once the children go to bed I don't want to spend more then 15mins making food and same really during the day.

B: Eggs scrambled with butter
L: Tuna mayo salad
D: mackeral with mushrooms and chilli flakes.
S: Half ball mozzarella cheese

1 black coffee & 3 liters water

DailyMailResearcher · 26/05/2016 01:01

Place marking and I need to update my weight Confused

stilllovingmysleep · 26/05/2016 06:12

Just wanting to warn everyone. Yesterday evening I cheerfully ate these Konjac noodles ("slimpasta") which are readymade in a small packet. I microwaved the whole portion in a bowl and ate with roast salmon and veg.
Anyway: woke up in the middle of the night with terrible nausea and feeling as if I had a heavy stone in my stomach. It's now 6 am and I still feel this heaviness in my stomach! Plus nausea. I'm sure it's these noodles that did it as everything else I eat all the time. They are never going anywhere near my plate!!!

Does anyone know what on earth happened there? BIWI? I googled about Konjac and freaked out at night a bit as there are some online reports about some Konjac products leading to choking or intestinal obstruction etc. Which I'm sure hasn't happened to me as I went to the toilet this morning (TMI) and I'm sure has nothing to do with noodles (Confused) but you know how scary it can feel in the night when you're unwell and reading such things. And I really do feel (still) quite unwell with this nausea and super heavy stomach.

Veryflummoxed · 26/05/2016 07:22

Cider sorry about stupid GP

stillloving oh poor you. I think I read further back in the thread someone warning that they can have a laxative effect. I ordered 1 by 5 packs yesterday, except I double ordered in error so now have ten packs winging my way. Slim noodles so I assume the same kind you had. I will report back.

stilllovingmysleep · 26/05/2016 07:26

Very flummoxed make sure you eat only tiny quantities and with plenty (and I mean plenty!!) of water. I think the problem (from googling this morning) is that I probably ate a massive portion of fibre without my body being used to it, leading to dehydration / very heavy stomach / cramps / severe nausea. I wish this had had a laxative effect, I could have dealt with that, but the stomach pain and nausea was awful. I took Zantac this morning and drank lots of water and coffee and feel slightly better. But still heavy stomach! The thought of eating the leftover roast salmon and veg I've prepared for lunch turns my stomach at the moment but I hope to feel better by lunchtime.

Veryflummoxed · 26/05/2016 07:29

Thanks stillloving I will definitely take your advice.

stilllovingmysleep · 26/05/2016 07:36

Would be great if other experienced LCarbers can enlighten us on this or give advice...

SayrraT · 26/05/2016 08:02

Sorry, I can't help I've never used any of these noodles. Hope you at feeling better soon though Flowers

HumphreyCobblers · 26/05/2016 08:13

Cider, how awful that the GP said that in front of your son. Hope you get a speedy appointment and things are sorted.

Hope you feel better soon stillloving

I am back down to 9.13 today, the 10 stone barrier fully breached! On the downside DH has discovered my stash of pork scratchings..

BursarsFrogs · 26/05/2016 08:42

Thanks for the kind comments. :) I had a bit of a mini-crisis last night, and if there had been any carby stuff in the house I would have inhaled it. Luckily there wasn't, and I just had an extra bowl of Greek yogurt and whinged instead.

Parmesan chicken last night was gorgeous. :)

I'm not feeling hungry this morning, so have just eaten an avocado for breakfast. I'm used to just eating them uncooked and plain on their own. I grew up eating them like that, and for some reason always thought of them as sweet and fruity rather than something you'd put in savoury dishes. I might have a boiled egg and some creamy coffee a bit later.

No idea about lunch today. I'm really bad at planning what I eat during the day. I'll be out and about, so I'll probably have some LC-friendly salad, and then snack on something fattier once I get home.

Dinner tonight is salmon and courgetti in a cream cheesy sauce.

stilllovingmysleep · 26/05/2016 08:42

Cider it does sound totally inappropriate saying that in front of your DS Sad. I do hope it's something simple that can be sorted out quickly.

My stomach still feels full and I have a heartburn / indigestion feeling but at least not nauseous.

stilllovingmysleep · 26/05/2016 08:43

On the plus side the scales are going down at a very good pace now that period came Smile

stilllovingmysleep · 26/05/2016 08:44

But then my scales keep showing different numbers depending on where I stand. How do you deal with that?Hmm

LadyAntonella · 26/05/2016 08:47

I haven't been updating here for a while; think I really need to stay on the thread or will lose willpower and give in to carby temptation!

B: ham (waiting for Tesco delivery - sitting on my hands and trying not to eat all DD's porridge)!

Snack: something from Tesco order Smile

L: avocado, bacon, asparagus, poached egg

D: lamb, Rosemary, garlic, cauliflower mash, green beans

Snacks: Tea, coffee, cream, raspberries, yoghurt

I might go to butchers for pork scratching ingredients too.

Good luck today everyone.

monkeyfacegrace · 26/05/2016 08:54

still !!!

I also ordered 30 packs of konjac noodles and yesterday afternoon ate a whole 400g pack with pasta sauce.

I woke up at 5 am and threw up, and have had horrific cramps since and feel I weigh a gazillion stone with a bowling ball in my stomach.

But, I also had a linseed pizza for lunch so SERIOUS fibre overload.

I'm still going to eat them again. 30 packets weren't cheap Grin
