Welcome everyone!

We have around 130 people signed up this time, so it's going to be a busy and fast-moving thread.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to enter your weight.

The lovely Sayrra manages the spreadsheet. Please don't mess with it! Just enter your weight and leave all the other columns/rows alone!

I'll start a questions thread to run along side this chat thread, so that you can post stuff there in the knowledge that your question will definitely be seen. (I can't promise to get to your questions immediately, but I will read and answer them)

And please, please, please - no matter how fast-moving the thread is, please read the whole thing and don't just post your own thing. You'll miss a lot of valuable stuff that way, and it also presumes that I (and other posters) are happy to keep repeating stuff.

But above all, very good luck everyone!

'Morning, everyone :)

I agree that the way your clothes fit is a much better indicator of whether LC is successful rather than scales. My scales haven't shifted much over the last few weeks (I've been LC since Feb and lost 2 stone so far) but my clothes are really feeling different. I'm down at least 1.5 sizes compared to before.

Food for today:
B: two eggs, mushrooms and spinach, creamy coffee
L: Covent Garden mushroom soup with a swirl of cream, maybe some crunchy bacon crumbled over the top
D: Pork steaks (with fat, yum!) and LC vegies
Snack, if needed: pork scratchings, ham and cheese roll ups

It's almost the weekend, which can be hard for me. We are going out on Sunday to meet friends so I will try to be sensible and choose LC options.

margaritasbythesea Your menu looks great! Sorry you are feeling so rubbish today, make sure you are drinking plenty of water plus adding salt to your foods - just in case the cause is either of those. I hope you are feeling better very soon.

LaserShark Why don't you consider doing boot camp now prior to your surgery then by your surgery we should be on the next level and by then you should hopefully have settled into this way of eating. Take a look around the recipe section, there are lots of things you can prepare and freeze, mousaka, shepards pie, I even make chilli in batches and freeze on a bed of raw cauliflower rice which I then defrost and micro wave for 2 -3 mins. Will you be no weight baring?

glenthebattleostrich · 20/05/2016 09:23

Morning all,

Food for today

B greek yogurt, chai tea with coconut oil
L tuna salad
T meatballs with salad
S butter, tea with coconut oil.

On the migraine causes, giving up diet drinks left me ill in bed for 3 days with the worst migraine I've experienced. When I stopped eating wheat I had a similar, though not as severe, reaction.

margaritasbythesea · 20/05/2016 09:24

Thanks whistle. I don't think so. I was fairly low carb before too (no bread, rice potatoes etc). Perhaps it's just coincidence. I'm doing alot of screen work and working in the evenings. Not unusual but I have also had a heavy cold. I'm going to cut evening work for a bit. May miss some deadlines but trying mot to stress. Migraine definitely still here. Can only do my best.

LaserShark · 20/05/2016 09:27

Iamdobby, I will be non weight bearing and not able to walk at all for a few days. I'm moving over from the shakes plus one low carb meal to gently shift into three low carb meals a day by the surgery. I have found it easy taking food mainly out of the equation so I just want to make sure I keep going well moving onto all food. And, yes, Biwi, I like low carb because it's healthy and the food is so good! This thread is full of really delicious sounding ideas!

StrawberryLeaf · 20/05/2016 09:29

Morning! I'm going to go out for lunch today, I have hopefully added a picture of the menu. Can anyone advise on a good option?

I wondered about;

Chicken and black pudding salad (is black pudding lc) or;
Meatloaf?

Any thoughts?

Pre-summer Low Carb Bootcamp - I declare it to be open!
KP86 · 20/05/2016 09:40

Meatloaf looks good or a bunless burger.

Bearing in mind both may have breadcrumbs or other carby fillers included in the mix.

ClopySow · 20/05/2016 09:40

My scales had me at anything between 13 and 15 stone this morning. I'm guessing they're very broken.

I'm a bit worried about this weekend. I'm off for a weekend away. 7 hours of driving today, me, motorways and my terrible pelvic floor make drinking loads of water a bit of an issue. Eating out won't be a problem, i'm quite at peace with ignoring chips and bread and asking for changes, i am a bit worried about booze though. I'd like to enjoy a few glasses of wine over the weekend.

One of the things i find about this is how everyone else is intolerant of it, as if you're highlighting something in their eating. I'm not, i just know bread and stuff is terrible for me, everyone else can do what they like. I also sometimes think people aren't always supportive of weight loss because they need someone bigger to compare themselves favourably to. It's funny what change does to people.

Iamdobby63 · 20/05/2016 10:00

ClopySow Yes I have found the same, I've even had the questions 'are you ill' - all I've done is lose weight to just inside the healthy BMI level!

Whistle73 · 20/05/2016 10:11

Hi Clopy - I'm away this weekend too, staying in a hotel Sat night which probably means a meal out to a pizza/pasta place and then going for a picnic on Sunday. I shall have to choose wisely and not drink too much.
One positive is that I'm so deep into ketosis now that I'm barely hungry at all and have to remind myself to eat. I know it's not a long term answer but if I have to skip a meal I will do. Hotel breakfasts are usually perfect for LC so that's good.
I've weighed myself this morning because I'll be devastated if I've put on what I've lost on Monday morning for the spreadsheet!

blackteaplease · 20/05/2016 10:13

Gosh this thread is moving fast. I am not sure I am going to be able to keep up with it which is a shame as I found the threads to be a great support during last B.C.

I will keep dipping in and will update the spreadsheet weekly.

Xoticdreamz · 20/05/2016 10:16

Morning .
Clopy it is hard all the drinking and loo needed , my pelvic floor after 3 kids is much the same .
Water does seem to make all the difference though .
Weighed this morning and I'm 2lb down which considering I have felt full and enjoyed all my meals is fantastic .
I realised though I had entered my weight wrong in the chart and have updated . I'm used to working in stones and pounds and got some reason Google told me 9.7 was 133 when in fact it's 135.8 .
Enjoying a creamy coffee and a pint of water .
Have no idea what my food menu will be today as I need to go for a food shop.

reader77 · 20/05/2016 10:18

Hope everyone is having a good morning.

I woke up in a panic; I'd been dreaming I was at an enormous buffet and had eaten quiche and samosas. ConfusedBlush

Eva50 · 20/05/2016 10:39

Good morning all. I woke again with a headache but it was gone within the hour. I dreamt that the dog had gone mad and was chasing cats through people's gardens. He was covered in giant ticks, yuk! Fortunately all is well.

B. Ff yogurt and a coffee with cream
L. Prawns in chilli, courgetti and mushrooms cooked in butter
D. Pork chop with cauliflower and grated cheese and more courgetti
1 tea with milk (I'm trying to give this up but it's hard)

Patterkiller · 20/05/2016 10:40

reader that made me laugh. I'm having weird dreams but non about pastries yet Grin

I woke at 5.30 and felt dreadful. Really shaky, heart palpitations and nauseous. In fact packed the kids off to school and went back to bed. I feel a bit better but I want something to eat and nothing is hitting the spot. I'm craving toast Sad

Iamdobby63 · 20/05/2016 10:40

Today's menu

B. Co-yo yogurt, coffee with cream
L. Cream of cauliflower soup (my fav)
D. Shepards Pie with buttered cabbage

Snacks if needed - cheese, salami or pork scratchings.

Lots of water.

I'm being very mindful about snacking as it's fairly clear that I had been snacking on allowed foods because I could, rather than because I was hungry.

Titsalinabumsquash · 20/05/2016 10:45

Patter I woke with heart palpitations, hot sweats and the shakes. I was terrified I woke DP up! Blush
I'm ok now if a little jittery.

Sausage and egg for breakfast,

Naked burger and salad for lunch

Cauli egg fried rice of dinner.

I over ate at breakfast and now I'm stuffed. Bleugh!

flyright · 20/05/2016 11:04

Sounds like a few of us have weekend challenges ahead.

I'm going to a wedding on Saturday and have dinner out on both Monday and Tuesday. Food wise I can probably keep well on track although I'm a bit worried about the choices at the wedding, but wine will be involved. I just need to make sure it's not a lot of wine Smile

On the plus side scales are notching down and I really want to post a loss on Monday so definitely don't want to undo this weeks good work.

CiderwithBuda · 20/05/2016 11:08

Morning all. Sneaky weigh in and 4lbs off since Monday. Yay.

I've found it easy so far as DH was away. He is now back and resisting the wine tonight will be hard. Am determined to do it though as I really don't want to gain back any of this week's loss before Monday.

About to do a meal plan and a shopping list.

Already planning pork belly for Sunday. Yum.

margaritasbythesea · 20/05/2016 11:10

Thanks iamdobby too
x-post?

ClopySow · 20/05/2016 11:34

Ok, i'm glad i'm not the only one with a challenging weekend ahead. My experience of lchf is that i get pretty pissed pretty quickly so i can't drink too much anyway.

Mookbark · 20/05/2016 11:56

Xotic 9st7lbs is 133lbs. 14lbs in a stone, 14x9+7. I know thi as this is my target weight Grin
Just wanted to say that. Will be back later with a proper update.

Abracadabra12 · 20/05/2016 12:01

Bit worried about the weekend too - I'm doing Tough Mudder (why???) but hoping a fry up beforehand should see me through.

Yesterday was hard, I think perhaps not enough fat in my breakfast (egg muffins) and lunch (salmon, cauliflower, braised fennel). Felt faint and heart-palpitationy early in the evening.

Felling better today and 4lbs down!
B - two eggs fried in goose fat
L - smoked mackerel pate and salad
D - not sure, maybe left over butter chicken

Xoticdreamz · 20/05/2016 12:04

*Thank you Moonbark . I will change back Blush
*

StuntNun · 20/05/2016 12:22

I did some research on the protein thing a while back and there isn't any evidence for what is too much. You don't want to go below 15% but up to 35% is safe enough and that's a lot of protein. There are people eating all meat diets that don't find protein is an issue for them. The exception is if you're diabetic then protein can be insulinogenic so tighter control can be required.
