Welcome everyone!

We have around 130 people signed up this time, so it's going to be a busy and fast-moving thread.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to enter your weight.

The lovely Sayrra manages the spreadsheet. Please don't mess with it! Just enter your weight and leave all the other columns/rows alone!

I'll start a questions thread to run along side this chat thread, so that you can post stuff there in the knowledge that your question will definitely be seen. (I can't promise to get to your questions immediately, but I will read and answer them)

And please, please, please - no matter how fast-moving the thread is, please read the whole thing and don't just post your own thing. You'll miss a lot of valuable stuff that way, and it also presumes that I (and other posters) are happy to keep repeating stuff.

But above all, very good luck everyone!

Humphrey good morning! Sorry to hear you woke in the middle of the night! (Which 4.30 is for me). Hope the day picks up.

Yes the not being hungry bit is what makes LC doable.

IndianaJone · 20/05/2016 07:06

Thanks for the tips Gcalgske. Today is a new day and I'm going to start fatting things up around here!

margaritasbythesea · 20/05/2016 07:14

Morning all. Feeling rather discouraged. I've had my first migraine for 20 years. Still feel terrible today. I also treated myself to new scales which weigh me 1.5 k more than starting weight.

Would someone be kind enough to check my food? I'll try and summarise

Breakfasts- scrambled egg in butter

Lunches: Savoury mince or ratatouille and cheese or avocado salad with mayonnaise.

Dinners- steak with mushroom and cream or beef stir fry with broccoli and coconut milk.

I'm not sure I will manage to eat anything today I feel that crap. Sad

margaritasbythesea · 20/05/2016 07:15

Ps snacks were cheese like babybel or cottage cheese. One snack per day. Loads of water.

Whistle73 · 20/05/2016 07:17

Margarita - could it be a hormonal migraine/weight gain? I know I can put on as much as half a stone pre- af.

How was your water intake?

WanHeda · 20/05/2016 07:27

Had a dream that I was eating kinder eggs and hating myself for it but I couldn't stop! Grin

boldlygoingsomewhere · 20/05/2016 07:31

Morning!

Had a good day yesterday:

B- ff Greek yoghurt and last few pieces of chorizo
L- spinach and kale soup with cheese 'croutons'
D- ham omelette cooked in butter
S- some olives and cheese
I've been going to be still feeling hungry though. I think I may need to up the food quantity. Had a veg box delivery so looking forward to yummy food over the weekend.

BIWI · 20/05/2016 07:33

WanHeda - it's awful, isn't it? That guilt!

Indiana - if you look at the spreadsheet, find the tabs at the bottom for Ubercamp, there's a recipe on there for coleslaw.

margaritas oh no! Poor you Sad I suffered from migraines when I was pregnant with DS1 and it was horrible. I wouldn't wish them on my worst enemy, never mind my best low carb friends. I'd imagine (but this is a guess) that it is probably hormonal. In the same way that people experience breakthrough bleeding, as their fat sheds oestrogen, I wonder if this is something similar?

Please don't suffer unnecessarily though, and take whatever pain relief works for you.

As for the scales? Pah. To be honest, the actual weight they're showing doesn't matter - it's the loss that you see that's the important thing. Hope you're feeling better soon. Flowers

Hi, interested in some advice! I have lost a stone over the past few weeks doing meal replacement drink sachets plus one low-carb meal in the evening. The idea was the Michael Moseley Blood Sugar thing but I couldn't keep down to 800 cal.

The reason for doing this is that I have foot surgery at the end of this month and my BMI was 36. I really wanted to get it down pre-surgery and I am now at 34. The weight has mainly come off my waist, which is great.

Post-surgery, I don't want to be doing a VLCD or meal replacements whilst recovering but I also don't want to pile the weight back on whilst immobile for 3-4 weeks. I plan to eat low carb, though I won't go the full boot camp. I just want to eat healthy, nutritious, good food and low carb really suits me.

The advantage is, I'm already in ketosis so no difficult adjustment period to go through. I want to make sure I'm looking after myself to recover properly but don't want to fall into a great pit of comfort-carbs and put the weight back on. I could easily regain a stone in a month of being almost completely sedentary and eating toast (which is what I would gravitate towards!)

So I'm just looking for good food inspiration and ideas, also any advice from anyone who has been in a similar situation. I am going to familiarise myself with boot camp rules and decide what I think is manageable - I definitely won't be drinking on painkillers so that one is easy!

Pengweng · 20/05/2016 07:34

Mmmm kinder eggs! Haha.
Still feel shocking but keeping on. Think carb flu has joined forces with my cold to make some horrible concoction. Urghh. Plus looking after sick DTs (3) who are off nursery school is no fun lol.

Plans for today are

Baked eggs with cream and mushrooms.
Goats cheese salad with chicken and mayo.
Beef and mushrooms cooked in butter with a cream sauce and mashed swede and asparagus (needs eating).

I have sage butter in the freezer but I'm going to make that parmesan and smoked salt one a pp mentioned. It sounds yummy.

Happy Friday everyone.

LaserShark · 20/05/2016 07:34

Oh, just to add, I drink 3l of water per day already as well so that kne is fine too!

WanHeda · 20/05/2016 07:38

Lasershark, well done on your loss so far! I hope your surgery goes as smoothly as possible too. Check the recipe thread for loads of food ideas, there are some great meals posted there.

BIWI · 20/05/2016 07:38

Welcome, Laser! I'm sure you'll find that Bootcamp will suit you - and please don't think it's an unhealthy way to eat!

^I just want to eat healthy, nutritious, good food and low carb really suits me.

The emphasis in Bootcamp is about eating fresh, natural and unprocessed food, as well as cutting back on carbs. As well as losing weight. What's not to like?!

Hope you feel better soon Pengweng!

I am planning a bit of a Tapas feast for our dinner tonight. I am thinking of doing chorizo in red wine, garlic mushrooms, celeriac bravas, roast green beans, Spanish tortilla (minus potato)and fried halloumi. Does this sound ok? Any other ideas?

WanHeda · 20/05/2016 07:40

Oh I forgot the garlic butter prawns as well.

BIWI · 20/05/2016 07:43

How about some meatballs? You could make a spicy tomato sauce to go with them, to make them authentically Spanish

OP posts:
WanHeda · 20/05/2016 07:45

Yes, thank you! I hadn't thought of meatballs. Will look for a recipe for a nice sauce :)

margaritasbythesea · 20/05/2016 07:57

Thanks biwi and whistle. So it didn't look like I massively messed up the food?

StuntNun · 20/05/2016 08:23

Please don't worry about eating too much protein. So long as you aren't eating meat and not much else then it shouldn't be an issue.

Wintersea · 20/05/2016 08:29

Well I sneaked on the scales this morning and my weight hasn't shifted one tiny bit yet my stomach is definitely flatter and my jeans seem a tad less tight (though that cd be pre-wash stretch)... so I'm ignoring the scales (temperamental anyway) and keeping on. Have a skirt of truth and a particular pair of trousers I want to get into so I will measure myself against how far I can get over my big arse! Hope everyone has a good low carb day...

Wintersea · 20/05/2016 08:30

Get THEM over my big arse even...

Whistle73 · 20/05/2016 08:41

Magarita - your food sounds spot on to me. One other thing that occurred to me though - have you cut something out that you could be experiencing withdrawal from? Day 5 can often be really bad for that. My DH gave up pepsi max last September and breezed it until Day 5 when he had the worst migraine ever! He literally just sat with his head in his hands all day groaning. Have you cut coffee? or aspartame? or could it be just sugar withdrawal?

Wintersea · 20/05/2016 08:41

Glad you've put that Stuntnun - was wondering if I had to cut my protein down and start thinking about percentage of fat compared with protein and carbs and I like this WOE because the rules are simple without getting too scientific (though the science of how it works is interesting)...

WanHeda · 20/05/2016 09:01

This is the end of week 3 for me, dropped 1lb this week making a total of 13lbs so far.

Veryflummoxed · 20/05/2016 09:07

Kinder eggs huh. Some people have all the luck. I dreamt we were all (boot campers) being chased by Marshall arts experts with nunchucks. So what was that all about?
