Welcome everyone!

We have around 130 people signed up this time, so it's going to be a busy and fast-moving thread.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to enter your weight.

The lovely Sayrra manages the spreadsheet. Please don't mess with it! Just enter your weight and leave all the other columns/rows alone!

I'll start a questions thread to run along side this chat thread, so that you can post stuff there in the knowledge that your question will definitely be seen. (I can't promise to get to your questions immediately, but I will read and answer them)

And please, please, please - no matter how fast-moving the thread is, please read the whole thing and don't just post your own thing. You'll miss a lot of valuable stuff that way, and it also presumes that I (and other posters) are happy to keep repeating stuff.

But above all, very good luck everyone!

Morning. Feeling good here.
My chickeny dinner last night turned into chicken breast with garlic mushroom sauce (garlic, mushrooms, butter and cream), with asparagus in butter and fried courgetti in butter. I think it is fair to say that I used enough butter Grin

Today is ;
B: halloumi and olives, 2x creamy coffee
L: leftover chicken breast with salad and a great big dollop of mayonnaise
D: beef stroganoff with cauli rice. I made it last night and it's in the slow cooker, so the aroma when I get home should be divine. Think it might drive the dog mad all day though!

This is my 3rd BC. I lasted 4 weeks with the first, 7 weeks with the second and this one I intend to go all the way. I think the drop out rate will be in excess of 50%, unfortunately, as we shouldn't underestimate the sugar addiction that most of us have and it is hard to kick. My downfall has been when I have a small amount of non-BC food, I suddenly crave more. Bread is my downfall.

I started about 10 days early, so had my flu last week, lasted only 24-36 hours and I made sure I had lots of salt - I like a bovril drink - as well as taking magnesium tablets. The magnesium tablets also help me poo. Sorry, TMI Blush. I also had my funny period. I have a mirena coil and don't usually bleed, but did for about 4 days last week. Although it is a nuisance, it's nice to know BC is working.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Mookbark · 18/05/2016 12:37

Beyond ah, that explains the numb bum! Hope the tattoo isn't actually on the bum , that would be especially painful.

BTW, I love dark chocolate - have got a taste for 90% now, BUT we can abstain for 2 weeks. Think how much we'll deserve it at the end of that time.

Abracadabra12 · 18/05/2016 12:47

Loving reading about everyone's food. Today I had FF Greek yog for breakfast, have just had the butter chicken curry from IPD cookbook with cauliflower and spinach for lunch and planning to have feta egg muffin things and courgette soup (with cream) for dinner - I'll be in late and want something I can just pull out of the fridge.

My colleague is getting on my case about why low carb low fat would be better. Can someone give me a couple of sentences to explain why this is a better option for an overweight woman with pcos, or in fact anyone. I keep getting this from people, i know in my head why, but am struggling to verbalise it.
Thanks.

It's taken me three days to catch up on the thread Grin

hello all, nice to see some familiar faces. This is my 3/4 BC now, lost two stones on the first one and have gained and lost the second stone since then. Started BC a week ago so I'm through the dreaded carb flu and now just dealing with constipation overall I'm not finding it too had to get back into the swing of things but I am struggling to avoid fruit because DH has so much of it in the house Angry

B:Omelette
L: LC chipolata, swede mash and Spring greens
D: courgette lasagne- should be interesting because I haven't made it before!

My last exam was yesterday so it should be much easier to get the full 4 litres of water.

margaritasbythesea · 18/05/2016 13:12

SociallyAcceptablecookie - thanks for your reply. I still don't understand it though I'm afraid.
From my fridge:
Cream = 3.6g per 100g
Yoghurt = 4.6
Milk = 5.

It is more, I get that, but a couple of splashes in tea vs the coupld of hundred grams of yoghurt suggested upthread seems reasonable though both not great (which I'm not).

Iamdobby63 · 18/05/2016 13:15

WandOfElderNeverProsper To me it seems that you are not eating enough tbh.

Clopysow We eat the fat and our bodies use that for fuel.... Or something like that. Tell them you are turning your body into a fat burning super machine. Lol

3perfectweemen · 18/05/2016 13:16

Hi everyone feeling great today. Stalled for couple weeks there but scales or moving in right direction again Grin
B: cloud bread with boiled egg mayo
Lunch: left over chicken curry courgetti
D: salted chilli ribs with stir fry veg

Been on this 7 or 8 weeks now and I'm finding it easy and enjoyable. No carb or sugar cravings anymore.

If I get hungry inbetween meals which at this stage I usually don't, I will have slice cloud bread with butter and cheese Grin cloud bread makes me stick to it.

Iamdobby63 · 18/05/2016 13:24

margaritasbythesea Is this to do with milk in your tea? Firstly what cream are you using as double cream is 1.6g per 100ml?

Milk contains sugar in the form of lactose hence why, although it's allowed here, you need to be careful on the quantities.

Wintersea · 18/05/2016 13:33

Going to look up cloud bread on recipe thread - not heard it'll if it before...

margaritasbythesea · 18/05/2016 13:37

Yes it is milk in tea. My double cream says 3.6. I think I am ok really but requires a bit of calculation. I shoudn't think I use more than about 60 ml. Will watch it.

Iamdobby63 · 18/05/2016 13:39

What brand is your double cream? just intrigued..

AuntieMaggie · 18/05/2016 13:47

wand I'm stalling too but I'm koko as I feel better eating this way.

Today
Mushrooms and scrambled egg in butter
Salmon, soft cheese, spinach, cucumber and avocado

Haven't decided on dinner yet but I've got loads of veg to use!

Iamdobby63 · 18/05/2016 13:47

Having said that its funny how carb info varies, per 100ml in Tesco 1.6 but Sainsburys is 2.6

Anyway, yes just be aware and be sensible about it and I'm sure you will be fine.

CiderwithBuda · 18/05/2016 13:50

Wand - definitely seems like you are not eating enough. Certainly not protein and fat. You don't no to limit quantities on this WOE (within reason obv).

Your body might well be in starvation mode if you are not eating enough.

anniebambammie · 18/05/2016 13:55

I made the slow cooked ginger pork recipe from the spreadsheet last night- delicious!! I took out all the 'stock' and added that into another pan with more coco cream, cabbage, ginger and shredded pork and it was sooo good. I skimmed most of the fat off the stock first so that I could use it with the leftover pork somehow, I think I'll try and make a gravy tomorrow!
Tonight we've had chicken with mushrooms with a butter and cream sauce and a side of green beans and cabbage. Yum! Except I have to confess... I added about a tablespoon of flour. I feel like a self sabotaging idiot but it was so runny and not saucey and I couldn't bear the thought of ruining a big pot of food Blush Really wish I hadn't now, was doing so well! I added in 2 eggs first but that didn't work either. Any ideas of how to make sauces thicker without using flour?

SoMuchToBits · 18/05/2016 14:02

My Sainsbury double cream says 1.5g carbs per 100ml! Confused

margaritasbythesea · 18/05/2016 14:05

My cream was from Iceland. Maybe it's a misprint?

anniebambammie - you've just made me realise I put flour in tonight's stew without thinking. It's going to kill me not to eat it!

Iamdobby63 · 18/05/2016 14:08

How strange re the cream. The sainsburys one I used their web page, maybe that wrong. I have always gone with 1.6.

anniebambammie · 18/05/2016 14:10

Be strong Margaritas, don't do it! I have lots of regret over my failed willpower (over a bloody tablespoon of flour!)

Iamdobby63 · 18/05/2016 14:13

Margarita, if it was Elmlea double cream that has other ingredients in it which does put the carb count up.

Promise I will shut up about cream now. Blush

Abracadabra12 · 18/05/2016 14:26

Elmira isn't cream! Angry This is a pet peeve from school cooking lessons when we were meant to use elmlea instead of cream because it was 'healthier'. Sorry for the rant

margaritasbythesea · 18/05/2016 14:27

It wasn't elmlea

Mookbark · 18/05/2016 14:30

I've just gone and had a look in the fridge - the Sainsbury's double cream I have is 1.5g per 100g
