Welcome everyone!

We have around 130 people signed up this time, so it's going to be a busy and fast-moving thread.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to enter your weight.

The lovely Sayrra manages the spreadsheet. Please don't mess with it! Just enter your weight and leave all the other columns/rows alone!

I'll start a questions thread to run along side this chat thread, so that you can post stuff there in the knowledge that your question will definitely be seen. (I can't promise to get to your questions immediately, but I will read and answer them)

And please, please, please - no matter how fast-moving the thread is, please read the whole thing and don't just post your own thing. You'll miss a lot of valuable stuff that way, and it also presumes that I (and other posters) are happy to keep repeating stuff.

But above all, very good luck everyone!

Morning everyone Smile

Breakfast - an avocado with olive oil and salt, lettuce, ham and mayo. Creamy coffee, 2 pints of water.

Minimim · 18/05/2016 09:55

Ooooops - finally read the rules properly after a ridiculously busy few days at work, and see that I've messed up already by eating/drinking stuff with sweeteners Blush oh well, today is a new day and I shall be following the rules to the letter from now on!!

Today's food plan:

B - egg, mushrooms, bacon and two black coffees
L - chicken breast and salad (lettuce, rocket, cucumber, avocado and olive oil dressing) with some homemade green olive tapenade
D - steak with mushrooms and wilted spinach, basic homemade sauce made with cream and black pepper

I'm trying to break my snacking habit, should be easier now I know that Atkins bars are a total no-no!! Grin

Didn't get a chance to get on here yesterday so have spent the last hour catching up! Scribbled a few notes from other people's meals that I am going to make.

OK, I haven't hit carb flu which surprises me as I have been an insane sugar, carb and wine addict for a very long time. I have been absolutely exhausted by the end of the afternoon and hit the pillow between 9 and 10 which is unheard of for me! I presume that's for the same reason?

Foodwise:
Day 1 actually changed from my original plan and dinner was delicious - fried up some pork steaks in butter/oil/garlic/fresh thyme, take out of the pan. Use the remaining butter/oil/juices to fry up sliced courgettes and mushrooms. Steam some asparagus. Chuck the meat and asparagus back in to the pan with a tub of double cream, more fresh thyme, salt and pepper. Served on rice for the family and baby spinach for me. Lovely.

Day 2 - 2 large pieces of cheese before the school run because I knew I was running kids from school to an outing and wouldn't have breakfast until a bit later. It turned out that those chunks of cheese were a godsend because I didn't get home until 1.30! I actually wasn't hungry all morning which was brilliant.
L - Tiny bit of leftovers (was meant to be a meal's worth but everyone loved it and scoffed most!) followed by large avocado, mozzarella and tomato with olive oil and pepper.
D - Steak burgers with cheese, salad (mixed greens, tomatoes, cucumber) and mayo

Day 3 - Just scoffed two bacon, two fried eggs and garlic mushrooms fried up in butter. Yum
L - prawns, avocado, salad and mayo
D - need to shop so I am not sure yet. Ideally need something I can also take for breakfast tomorrow as I am travelling to a client and leaving home at 6.30am. I normally stop at Starbucks for cappuccino and porridge or fruit toast. Not ideal! I have ordered a gluten free lunch at the client's so that's good.

Drinks - one caffeine black coffee and one decaf black coffee, at least 3.5l of water as per BIWI guidelines for my weight plus a peppermint tea or two each day.

Looking ahead to the weekend when I am entertaining. I think I might try the french lamb recipe in the IPD original book. Has anyone made that? Need to make a dessert even though I can't eat it. That's going to be interesting...

Does all of the above look ok? Sorry for the super long post and thanks to all who work so hard to make this work for the rest of us.

MrAloysiusFlyte · 18/05/2016 10:15

Does anyone else find it difficult to drink so much water?

I struggle to drink a glass full, let alone 3 litres. I can feel it sloshing about inside Envy

I've never been able to drink large amounts of liquid and I was wondering if anyone had any tips?

Iamdobby63 · 18/05/2016 10:28

MrAloysiusFlyte At my age it doesn't stay sloshing around for long! Try putting it in a sports bottle and take a sip... All day.

I'm not good at plain water but I love sparkling. (Unflavoured)

Patterkiller · 18/05/2016 10:48

MrAloysiusFlyte I don't know whether this would work for you but I send a lot of emails throughout the day and have made a habit out of drinking a sip or quarter or half cup every time I press the send button. It does add up and I don't really think about it now.

StuntNun · 18/05/2016 11:07

Soggy I have rooibos tea with a teaspoon of coconut oil in sometimes. I leave the spoon in the cup and stir the tea before every sip.

Buddah how about Greek yoghurt for breakfast. Or you can have leftovers. I sometimes make extra when I'm making dinner so there will be low carb stuff in the fridge for breakfast or snacks.

Carb flu here today. Headache and general bleughness Envy

I've eaten yoghurt for breakfast but will really have to force myself to eat lunch, I have no appetite at all. Anyone else?

Looking forward to feeling great when this passes!

Wintersea · 18/05/2016 11:35

Hello everyone!
Starting today and have nothing low carb to eat in the house so I'm off to the supermarket as soon as I've emailed off some work. Great recipe ideas and tips on here.... Going to try the elastic bands on (squeezy) water bottle ideas as I find it hard to drink enough water too. Hv lots of green tea though...
Anyone know if Miso is low carb? Not keen on Oxo but Miso is salty so wondering if cd help with dreaded carb withdrawal...
Hope everyone has a good low carb day!

Iamdobby63 · 18/05/2016 11:47

Don't know about miso as its soybeans isn't it? I'm sure BIWI can advise but in the mean time what does the packet say?

Iamdobby63 · 18/05/2016 11:49

Ps, don't forget to add salt to foods.

Iamdobby63 · 18/05/2016 11:52

WandOfElderNeverProsper That doesn't sound right! Are you sure you are eating enough fat?

Patterkiller · 18/05/2016 11:53

Does everyone get carb withdrawel, I'm not feeling any and wondering if I'm doing it right? I didn't eat much sweet stuff but did eat a lot of bread, crisps and potatoes.

Just a bit concerned I'm eating carbs somewhere.

so yesterday
B Black Farmer Sausage, mushrooms in butter, poached egg
L Hot smoked Salmon - salad with mayonnaise
D Chicken pie filling made with left over chicken mushrooms, some stock and creamed leeks. Broccoli, and a few peas
Coffee with cream x 1
Fruit Tea x 3
1.5 ltr water

Today
B Bacon and poached egg
L Broccoli Soup with cheese
D Prawn kebabs in garlic butter with salad including olives? and Greek yogurt

And can I eat beetroot? I'm craving it with haloummi but have stayed away as I'm not sure.

BIWI · 18/05/2016 12:03

Don't know about Miso - check the back of the pack first!

Sorry to hear your woes, Wand.

Try listing out what you've been eating and see if there's anything we can help with

NotQuiteJustYet · 18/05/2016 12:04

WandOfElderNeverProsper This happens to me too. I gain then usually follow it up with a decent drop in weight, regardless of how I eat or drink. I'm a daily weigher though so I tend to notice this, especially if I'm having trouble with going to the loo - sorry for TMI.

Wintersea · 18/05/2016 12:08

Ok will check Miso packets in supermarket later and will report back...
Managed to put together low carb lunch of lettuce-wrapped tuna and (full fat) mayo with teaspoon of sweetcorn so will survive until I get out....

BeyondTellsEveryoneRealFacts · 18/05/2016 12:11

Patter, i've been going a week longer than everyone else and it only hit me yesterday, so it might be to come, or you could be fine.

I have a numb bum. Grin

Wintersea · 18/05/2016 12:12

My weight fluctuates like crazy - I also have dodgy scales which give me 3-4 slightly different weights in a row so I now take an average...
See how yr clothes fit, Know from lurking on here that it's possible to lose inches while weight stays the same though the

Wintersea · 18/05/2016 12:14

Posted too soon... Meant to add in Wand...

Wintersea · 18/05/2016 12:14

What's with the numb bum - it is it best not to ask?!

flyright · 18/05/2016 12:16

patrkiller I haven't had carb flu type problem either. Maybe we're just lucky. Or maybe we've had carbs we don't know about

I don't think so though. Been pretty good following - and reading Halo the rules.

I know I shouldn't really be having my daily 8 raspberries. And yesterday a small satsuma made its way across my desk. But apart from that I've been on track. Except for a couple of squares of Lindt dark chilli chocolate

Love that stuff and have got in the habit of dine with s black decaf coffee around 9. It nicely kicked off Marcella last night. Didn't stop Anna Friel being irritating though.

Anyway today has been said 8 raspberries and yoghurt. Frittata will be lunch. Dinner is chicken and lots of veg. Onwards and downwards all.

Patterkiller · 18/05/2016 12:17

numb bum Confused the mind boggles.

Wintersea · 18/05/2016 12:22

Haven't watched the last Marcella episode yet! Trying not to click on any reviews....love dark chocolate but going to try to resist for 2 weeks... Surely I can do 2 weeks ....(?)
