Welcome everyone!

We have around 130 people signed up this time, so it's going to be a busy and fast-moving thread.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to enter your weight.

The lovely Sayrra manages the spreadsheet. Please don't mess with it! Just enter your weight and leave all the other columns/rows alone!

I'll start a questions thread to run along side this chat thread, so that you can post stuff there in the knowledge that your question will definitely be seen. (I can't promise to get to your questions immediately, but I will read and answer them)

And please, please, please - no matter how fast-moving the thread is, please read the whole thing and don't just post your own thing. You'll miss a lot of valuable stuff that way, and it also presumes that I (and other posters) are happy to keep repeating stuff.

But above all, very good luck everyone!

Just added my weight to the spreadsheet - 156 pounds aargh! Heaviest I've ever been. Not for long though Grin

WanHeda · 18/05/2016 08:21

Sarrya the Lidl protein rolls are only 9.5 carbs per roll, so half would be ok sometimes maybe?

WanHeda · 18/05/2016 08:22

PLEASE READ THE THREAD, PEOPLE!

I'm sorry if you think I'm being overly harsh here, but I've already posted this:

Re breakfast

You don't have to eat eggs! In fact, there's no specific food that you have to eat. It's the cereal manufacturers who have got us into a mindset that breakfast has to have its own foods.

If you keep eating the same thing every day, you'll soon get bored, and that will lead to the inevitable cheating.

Mix it up a bit. Have a continental breakfast, so ham and cheese. Or have bacon and mushrooms.

Or - go wild and eat a normal meal grin

I sometimes have leftovers. If you've made something like celeriac or cauliflower or swede mash, fry those up in a patty, like bubble and squeak.

I, and others like Sayrra and GCalsk and wombat - as well as others, sorry if I haven't name-checks you - spend a long time on these threads, reading everything that people have posted, so that we can advise you. Please do us the courtesy of reading our posts!

The rest of my day is very low carb, so the roll will be fine (as others have said, around 5g for half) - I pre-plan my menus using MFP. It's also extremely filling so it will stop me from overeating later in the day.

BIWI · 18/05/2016 08:25

No WanHeda - and also KP86. One of the things that we state in the rules is that you should be getting the majority of your carbs from vegetables and salad.

In the first two weeks of Bootcamp this is especially important.

StrawberryLeaf you're not a wuss! Carb flu isn't pleasant, and it shows the hold that carbs have over us. I hope that the oats made you feel better, but to be honest, you're prolonging the agony by doing that.

Read the posts that have already been made about carb flu and how to deal with it.

Titsalina - for a stir fry:

Use garlic and ginger as a base, when you're frying the veg, and fry in sesame oil, or a mixture of groundnut and sesame. If you like chilli, add this too, as part of your base.

Add whatever veg you're using, and when it's cooked to your liking, add some soy sauce (a good quality one like Kikkoman), a little Chinese five spice powder, some fresh coriander and the juice of a lime.

I've been up with the night sweats th last few nights, but i know from past bcs that they dont last long, so i'm just gritting my teeth and getting through it. No doubt i'll have a bc period show u p in the next few days Grin

Breakfast of scrambled egg with spinach and butter. Coffee and cream

StrawberryLeaf · 18/05/2016 08:46

Biwi thank you. It's been such a wake up call, I gave up smoking 10 years ago and don't remember feeling like this! You are right, it's showing me I'm obviously more addicted to carbs and sugar then I thought! (Hence why I have a bmi of 38 Blush)

Oats have made me feel a bit better, now to put that behind me and stick to my plan again.

Titsalinabumsquash · 18/05/2016 08:58

Stir fry sounds lovely thank you Smile

Iamdobby63 · 18/05/2016 09:01

Morning all, if you are feeling particularly rubbish have an oxo (or similar) drink, twice a day if needs be. It really works.

Veryflummoxed · 18/05/2016 09:04

Flip doodle and Budahbelly I've just eaten cheese celery and olives for my breakfast. Will have a coffee with cream soon as well. Very quick and tastes good. I can't face/ don't have time for cooking first thing so it's something like this or yogurt or leftovers.

Pengweng · 18/05/2016 09:14

My lovely fitbit tells me i had less than 4 hours sleep last night due to my lovely DTs both having a cold which means they have to stay up ALL night because they can not breathe through their nose. AGGHHHHHHH!
I've still got a horrible sore throat/viral thing going on but I guess at least if carb flu hits then it can just join in the party Grin.

I'm doing some painting this week before my mum comes to stay and so far have done the bathroom and spare room just my room and all the gloss work to go. At least it's keeping me busy so i don't stuff mini marshmallows in my mouth.

Breakfast plans are cheesy eggs with ham and mushrooms and spinach cooked in ghee.

Lunch and dinner to be confirmed once the lovely shopping delivery man brings all my nice cheese food. Dh is out tonight so don't have to worry about him which is nice. Though his parting comment this morning was "Can you make me some seedy bread please. I've run out". The bastard!! lol

Have a good day everyone!

LadyAntonella · 18/05/2016 09:19

Morning all!

Plan for today is:

B: Fried eggs, fried mushrooms with loads of sea salt, thyme and butter, spinach done in microwave with butter

L: small portion butternut and thyme soup with cream and / or prawn with mayo

D: tbc but maybe curry with spinach

Snacks: yoghurt with strawberries and flax seed (doing bc light), coffee and tea with cream

Pengweng · 18/05/2016 09:20

I don't think i could ever get sick of eggs. Might have baked eggs with bacon and cream tomorrow for breakfast with dippy spears (aka asparagus). mmmmmmm

And thanks to BIWI and all the lovely people who are helping out. I really do appreciate it.

Off to add oxo cubes to shopping list. My nana used to feed me them when i was poorly as she said they were good for your blood. She might have been right and not a nutter after all, bless her soul. Grin

poorbuthappy · 18/05/2016 09:21

2 days late but here. No surprises on the scales which I suppose is a good thing.
I have 9 weeks till holiday.

SayrraT · 18/05/2016 09:23

beyond I'm always a wee bit happy when I get my random bc periods. At least it means bc is working! Grin

Titsalinabumsquash · 18/05/2016 09:27

I will have an oxo now! My mum used to give us that with a slice of bread and marge when the food had run out and we had no money, I used to think it was a real treat.

Avocado and bacon and asparagus and poached egg for lunch I think.

I couldn't get bored of eggs.

BeyondTellsEveryoneRealFacts · 18/05/2016 09:30

I've downed my first litre of water, will have to wait til i later to have any more now, as i have an appt to sit for a tattoo and wont be able to keep going for a wee Grin

DoingItForMyselfAtLast · 18/05/2016 09:34

To escape the eggs this morning, I had 'hash browns' made from celeriac mash and spring onions. Was very nice, if a little wet, and disintegrated as soon as i tried to flip them in the frying pan! Anyone got any tips for a 'crust' of some sort? Looking forward to a steak and veg dinner tonight.

poorbuthappy · 18/05/2016 09:35

I will say I enjoyed my smoked salmon, cream cheese and cucumber for breakfast!

Eggs for lunch...

Does everyone only drink water? I am fine with black tea and green tea, no sweeteners, but sometimes get sick of water. Any tips?

BIWI · 18/05/2016 09:37

DoingIt - I make celeriac and leek mash, and try to keep the texture of that as a mash a bit drier if I can.

I don't think anything crusts up as well as potato (probably something to do with the starch/sugar in potato), but if you leave it in the pan on a slightly lower heat than normal, it does seem to work. Don't keep trying to flip it too often!

StrawberryLeaf · 18/05/2016 09:39

What's the references to random periods?

I've not had a period since having my 11 month old and then strangely this morning I had some light bleeding?

BIWI · 18/05/2016 09:44

You store oestrogen in your fat, so when you start to lose fat, it releases the hormones. I know it doesn't feel like it, but it's a good sign!

OP posts:
lexloofah · 18/05/2016 09:50

strawberry, I am going to make a hash of this and hope someone can explain better but there is estrogen in your fat cells so as they break down to be burned (yay), the estrogen is released hence random period

poorbuthappy, if the DCs have strawberries I save the tops that I cut off and put them in a jug of water so you get a slightly fruity flavour or just slices of cucumber, lemon or lime would work too

I have just been in to town and disaster our butchers has shut down and been replaced by a Patisserie Valerie! Just what we need, another place peddling carby coffee and cake grrr could not be more the opposite of what we need
