Welcome everyone!

We have around 130 people signed up this time, so it's going to be a busy and fast-moving thread.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to enter your weight.

The lovely Sayrra manages the spreadsheet. Please don't mess with it! Just enter your weight and leave all the other columns/rows alone!

I'll start a questions thread to run along side this chat thread, so that you can post stuff there in the knowledge that your question will definitely be seen. (I can't promise to get to your questions immediately, but I will read and answer them)

And please, please, please - no matter how fast-moving the thread is, please read the whole thing and don't just post your own thing. You'll miss a lot of valuable stuff that way, and it also presumes that I (and other posters) are happy to keep repeating stuff.

But above all, very good luck everyone!

BIWI No, I don't have an eating disorder, but I do come from a family obsessed with food and nutrition, and who comment endlessly on my weight. I've always been considered the fat one. DM first put me on a diet when I was 7. I was fed cottage cheese and ryvitas. It's hard when they comment about everything you put in your mouth.
I actually love food and cooking.

I think last year I just got so excited about losing the baby weight and getting my figure back that I started getting carried away. I lost 16 kilos by eating normally but then when I started feeling guilty about eating an extra cherry tomato (because would I have lost more without it?) I immediately jacked it in.

I'm hiding it from DH as he likes me chunky. He's also likely to mention something to DM and that really wouldn't be helpful. He is also anti LC and insists that he needs to eat carbs to build muscle. He's slim himself.
I'm 5'6" and a small frame, so yes, I need to loose some weight!
And no, DH won't eat the fruit. It's mainly apples and pears.

raisedbyguineapigs · 17/05/2016 12:24

Just one question. I've never eaten saag panel in a restaurant as I didn't think I'd like it. I was wrong- it's delicious! But also tasted a bit sweet. Is that what it tastes like, or have they added sugar to the sauce? It was fairly dry!

Iamdobby63 · 17/05/2016 12:33

Stuntnun how do you get to open the spreadsheet from the Google sheet app?

HumphreyCobblers · 17/05/2016 12:36

Just had mackerel and salad with mayo, plus radishes dipped in butter and salt for lunch! I am definitely taking the advice to up the fat content, thanks for that

LadyAntonella · 17/05/2016 12:41

I use the app dobby.

I opened the spreadsheet as normal first, then opened the app and it appeared on my "recently opened by me" list.

LadyAntonella · 17/05/2016 12:45

Also I second what Gcal said about low carb bc and the organisers. This is my second go. It is really easy to follow and the organisers have the patience of saints!

BagpussOhSagpuss · 17/05/2016 12:48

Thought I'd add this for those of us who are pretty new, and might not know how to do it.
To use the Bookmark function on an iPad
Go to the drop down arrow next to the Talk at the top of the page. Click customise. Scroll down and make sure display bookmark links is switched to yes.
Then you can click on the bottom right of the last post on the thread, click the little bookmark button that appears, and when you come back to the thread later...." Tadaa.....as if by magic, you are taken straight to the last post you bookmarked.
It saves you placemarking, and means you can keep up with the thread.
(Apologies to all of you who undoubtably know this already.....I am just hoping I am not the only one who didn't. Blush )

Gcalgske · 17/05/2016 13:03

raisedbyguineapigs depends on the place really, best to ask?
At my local Indian restaurant it's onions, spices, spinach, chilli, tomatoes cooked down with ghee then paneer. I blooming love it. Onions and tomatoes are a bit carby so eat round them or save till BC light? X

Gcalgske · 17/05/2016 13:04

Hi wand!

Gcalgske · 17/05/2016 13:05

Have just made chilli for tea. Smells gorgeous. Will serve with sour cream, shredded iceberg, cheddar and avocado.

Equiem89 · 17/05/2016 13:10

CathemeralChild you are perfect weight for your height.

Iamdobby63 · 17/05/2016 13:12

LadyAntonella Thank you, I followed those steps but it doesn't appear on any list. I will have a read up, I'm probably doing something wrong.

Gcalgske · 17/05/2016 13:14

WanHeda where are you? (Nosey sorry) just get excited at someone 'local' Grin
they could easy add celeriac mash or courgetti to meals.
Exactly my thoughts! Cauli mash, celeriac dauphinois, courgettie, swede or celeriac chips, roast sprouts, cabbage with bacon etc etc the list of lovely low carb side dishes is practically endless and yet sweetcorn out the freezer is the best they can do... She started arguing with me about the carb count on almonds too as I left (asked me what I used to bake and I said usually almond flour or ground almonds at around 7g/100g - seems like she is deducting fibre (as they do in the USA to state net carbs) but wouldn't listen to me that the uk label already had it deducted. I am disappointed as I'd really hoped it'd be good so that maybe low carb would catch on a bit locally. Also was looking forward to sharing recipes so really it's her loss Hmm

Gcal, I'm near Montrose :) that place is definitely struck off my list now, will stick to the handmade burger co. in Union Sq instead! I'm not a pudding person, so I don't hanker after anything sweet thankfully.

Iamdobby63 · 17/05/2016 13:30

I realised yesterday I only put down the basic meals on here so will remember if I'm going to write anything for it to be the whole picture. In case my post was one of the ones referred to by BIWI as not eating enough.

Today
BF. 2 scrambled eggs with butter

Lunch: Tuna mayo with a salad of leaves, 3 cherry tomatoes, feta cheese, olives, with dressing (1tbs extra virgin olive oil, 1tbs white wine vinegar and a little mustard)

Snack (if hungry later) left over LC sausage (1)

Dinner: Low carb shepherds pie (topped with cauli mash) cabbage with butter.

Max 45ml of double cream for coffee.

Lots and lots of water.

CathemeralChild · 17/05/2016 13:31

Equim89 I've got a BMI of 25 - right at the very top of the healthy range. I would prefer to be somewhere in the middle.
But thank you for your support. Smile

JemimaMuddledUp · 17/05/2016 13:35

CathemeralChild are you sure about your BMI? I'm 5'6" too, and always thought that the top end of BMI was 11st, which is more than a stone higher than what you weigh.

(If I'm wrong I'm going to have to lower my target weight!!!)

Iamdobby63 · 17/05/2016 13:38

I was taking it that CathemeralChild weight stated was where she was at her lightest not necessarily where she is now.

Gcalgske · 17/05/2016 13:38

Ooh we have family near Brechin and in Glasgow so often pass by Montrose (we are the other side of Aberdeen near Oldmeldrum)

Try cafe Boheme on windmill Brae - French food/owner. Everything has butter and cream and is delightful.

Last time I was in he looked at me askance (in a very Gaelic fashion) when I declined bread/potatoes but then went "ah Atkins" and came back with a gorgeous salad and asparagus and spinach with cream and garlic to accompany my duck Grin

MushroomTree · 17/05/2016 13:50

How are we all getting on?

Food today:

B: Total yoghurt and cinnamon

L: chicken thighs with salad leaves, cucumber, 3 sliced sundried tomatoes, some feta and some roasted shallots.

D: will be courgette frittata probably with a few slices of Parma ham on top and possibly some mozzarella.

WanHeda · 17/05/2016 13:54

ohhh will try that place Gcal! Windmill Brae was my hangout as a teen, there used to be some great clubs there.
