Welcome everyone!

We have around 130 people signed up this time, so it's going to be a busy and fast-moving thread.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to enter your weight.

The lovely Sayrra manages the spreadsheet. Please don't mess with it! Just enter your weight and leave all the other columns/rows alone!

I'll start a questions thread to run along side this chat thread, so that you can post stuff there in the knowledge that your question will definitely be seen. (I can't promise to get to your questions immediately, but I will read and answer them)

And please, please, please - no matter how fast-moving the thread is, please read the whole thing and don't just post your own thing. You'll miss a lot of valuable stuff that way, and it also presumes that I (and other posters) are happy to keep repeating stuff.

But above all, very good luck everyone!

B .. two hard boiled eggs mayo. Coffee with cream
L... mushroom omelette with cheese
D... spicy Madras's curry with courgetti

I weighed 140 yesterday, this morning I was 138.6lb. Grin I know I shouldn't weigh every day but I can't help myself Blush

BIWI · 17/05/2016 10:47

The best thing, IMVHO, is to go to an 'ordinary' restaurant and work your way around the menu. Unless it's Thai (which is very difficult) or a place that only does pizza/pasta, generally you can do it. (Puddings are, I accept, not an option here!!!)

I haven't found anywhere yet that won't substitute something for me - so if I go for steak, instead of having the chips I'll ask for a salad. It's a bit irritating when some places charge you extra, for a direct substitution, but that doesn't always happen.

And I'm finding more and more places (especially independent restaurants) are offering lower carb options anyway - celeriac has become incredibly popular.

But how disappointing GCalske if someone is claiming to offer low carb alternatives and then doesn't. I suppose, being charitable, they were offering lower carb. Just not low enough for Bootcamp.

Day one for me

B: black coffee, two hard boiled eggs and spinach. Some full fat cheddar.
L: (M&S was being crap, no cooked meats!) Calamari (less than 1g of carb) and a huge bag of salad. More cheese on top. (It's not a great lunch, but best I could buy before work)
D: Pork belly strips, fried in butter. Huge pile of courgettes, also fried in butter.

Drunk 1.5 litres so far.

BIWI · 17/05/2016 10:50

One thing - before I have to start waving The Big Stick around ...

I've noticed that a lot of you aren't eating very much, and aren't eating much protein (and possibly not enough fat).

We're not calorie counting. We are upping our fat and protein. We're aiming to keep our blood sugar levels even, which will control your hunger. For the majority of us in the Western world, feeling hunger isn't about having an empty stomach - it's about our hormone levels being out of kilter, which results in uneven blood sugar levels; low blood sugar will make you feel hungry. (That's a very simplistic explanation!)

If you're just eating salad veg for lunch, chances are you'll be hungry in the afternoon. Yes, it might be low carb, but there isn't any protein - and probably not much fat either. Unless you have a drink of vinaigrette to go with it!

When I eat out I get spicy chicken wings for starters are these OK? As a main I get steak and ask for stir fry veggies at the side is this OK? I've done it few times and still managed to loose weight.
My baby is 12 weeks now and I have lost two stone since having him on this woe. Grin I'm doing boot camp now as I'm not feeding myself anymore and the last ten lb is hardest to loose. Smile

Titsalinabumsquash · 17/05/2016 10:54

I think our usual eating out food haunts should be ok,

Carvery Blush well just have all the meat and veg and skip the spuds and yorkshires, and I'll have lots of cracking.

Our breakfast buffet should be ok, we'll have sausage, bacon and tomatoes and mushrooms, we have this very rarely anyway.

We have a zillion handmade burger companies sprung up in our local town so we'll have 'naked' burgers ad salad, we have a few steak joints too so again, steak and salad.

We are quite keen on an Indian takeaway, is that a no no on boot camp? Obviously we'd skip the rice and breads but would a creamy or tomato based curry be out of the question for a monthly treat?

Gcalgske · 17/05/2016 10:57

I quite like handmade burger co too mook and nandos or pret is usually good too

3perfectweemen · 17/05/2016 11:01

Tits I have got the chicken Madras and used slim rice I had at home it's carb free it didn't effect my weight loss. I make my own Indian curries and use cloud bread as the nan.

BIWI · 17/05/2016 11:01

Chicken wings might be OK - but depends what they've been marinated/coated in - often sauces and rubs contain a lot of sugar. If they taste sweet, avoid!

Carvery is usually a good choice - but only if you swerve potatoes/Yorkshires! Also, sadly, probably best to avoid the gravy (or go for a really small amount)

And with Indian - dry curries are the best (tandoori, tikka), with a low carb veg curry, like cauliflower, mushroom or spinach. Sauces are always difficult because often they have a lot of onion in them (sometimes it's pureed so you can't always tell it's in there)

I'd like to jump in and join but can't figure out what I'm to do! Confused I have 29 days to lose as much as I can from a stone I'd like to lose. If anyone can point me in the direction of the plan guidelines, I'd be very grateful :)

BIWI · 17/05/2016 11:14

Have you read the thread, cjt110?

In my OP there's a link to the spreadsheet, where there's a tab with the rules. And I've also typed out the rules earlier up the thread.

You're very, very welcome to join us! Just add your name to the bottom of the list on the spreadsheet.

OP posts:
CathemeralChild · 17/05/2016 11:21

I'd like to join please! I'm on an iPhone so if someone could enter me on the spreadsheet at 155 lbs, thank you

CathemeralChild · 17/05/2016 11:30

I'm a regular under a n/c.
DH will sabotage if he thinks I'm trying to loose weight. If I dollop sour cream on my chilli he won't even notice if there's no rice underneath.
I lost loads of weight last year doing my own version of BC Light but then got it all out of perspective to the point that I practically stopped eating. People started asking if I was okay as my face looked gaunt. I was still over 62k though with fat legs. :(
Yesterday was a spur of the moment decision so I haven't got the right foods in yet. I'm about to go shopping. I've got lots of fruit in too.
Should I stew it and pop in the freezer for later? Or start with BCL this week and proper BC next week?

LadyAntonella · 17/05/2016 11:31

Yesterday was good. I ended up having:

B: asparagus frittata and avocado

L: more frittata plus some ham

D: roast chicken with loads of cabbage, leek and broccoli in butter, cream and a little bit of mustard

Snacks: babybel, tea and coffee with cream

Today is

B: total yoghurt with 6 small strawberries and some flax seeds (doing bc light)

L: leftover chicken, mozzarella, avocado, rocket and tomatoes

D: pork belly and stir fried broccoli and garlic

Snacks: as yesterday

I tried to add my name and weight and couldn't do it - please can someone add me? I'm 157lbs

lisbapalea · 17/05/2016 11:34

Had a delicious dinner last night of bbq'd salmon fillet with some steamed and then bbq'd asparagus, olives and then piled all of it on top of a caesar style salad using a generous amount of the dressing on this recipe:

www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/2516/chicken-caesar-salad

Thought I would share as it's so easy to make and very LC friendly (providing you use a a good mayo).

Today's plan:

B - two fried eggs, half an avocado, slice of serrano ham

Not sure on lunch or dinner yet but will be good, I promise! My mindset is so different now that I am back on bootcamp and I feel motivated just by knowing I am sticking to the plan.

cjt110 · 17/05/2016 11:36

I can't access the spreadhseet. Hence why I asked for the rules.

BIWI · 17/05/2016 11:39

... which are also written out on the thread!

I'm sorry if this seems like a harsh response to you, but a lot of work goes into these threads and it's frustrating when people don't read them.

OP posts:
cjt110 · 17/05/2016 11:40

Well, could you kindly point out where as I can't see them.... I wouldn't ask if I had found them now would I?

BIWI · 17/05/2016 11:44

CathemeraldChild

Your post concerns me a bit - why are you having to hide your desire to lose weight from your husband? Are you already the right weight? Do you have an eating disorder?

DH will sabotage if he thinks I'm trying to loose weight. If I dollop sour cream on my chilli he won't even notice if there's no rice underneath.

A lot of people will try and sabotage your weight loss efforts - in general, it's people who have a weight issue themselves, but also it could be that he thinks you don't need to lose weight. Have you talked to him about this and why you're low carbing? Is it that he doesn't understand what it's about and is worried about you eating too much fat?

*I lost loads of weight last year doing my own version of BC Light but then got it all out of perspective to the point that I practically stopped eating. People started asking if I was okay as my face looked gaunt. I was still over 62k though with fat legs^

Bootcamp or Bootcamp Light is categorically not about not eating! And I state that over and over - it's not a WOE that's about deprivation - so it worries me as to why you were doing this.

62kg is 9 stone 7, so I doubt you really have fat legs. How tall are you?

Yesterday was a spur of the moment decision so I haven't got the right foods in yet. I'm about to go shopping. I've got lots of fruit in too. Should I stew it and pop in the freezer for later? Or start with BCL this week and proper BC next week?

Up to you really - if you start BC now, at least you're 'aligned' with the rest of us! What kind of fruit is it though? Can you not palm it off on your DH to eat? Wink

cjt100 - have you got my posts in a different colour? If not, customise your view so that your posts and those of the OP (me) are in different colours, which makes them easy to spot.

For clarity, it's my post of Monday 16 May, 18.53.

OP posts:
cjt110 · 17/05/2016 11:50

No I havent. Thanks for the point of reference.
]
I assume you just eat low carb foods? I ask this because I note on say the Atkins it gives you an amount of carbs to have in a day. I cannot see this in that post, nor the link to the "list" the post discusses.

BIWI · 17/05/2016 11:55

No, we don't aim for any particular carb level. If you follow the rules (whilst also cutting out bread/potatoes/pasta/rice/sugar, etc) then you should be eating a low enough carb diet to lose weight.

20g carbs is very restrictive, but also people tolerate carbs differently, so there's no 'one size fits all'.

And the whole premise of Bootcamp is about making it as easy as possible - hence the no weighing/counting. Nothing to stop people weighing/counting if they want to, but why give yourself that hassle?

OP posts:
StuntNun · 17/05/2016 11:56

I have to open the spreadsheet from the Google Sheets app rather than from the link to be able to amend it myself. Once I've done that then it gets saved in the app for me. Here's the link if you want to cut and paste it.

Gcalgske · 17/05/2016 12:02

I love a dry curry (my local Indian does a tandoori mixed feast which is to DIE for) comes with chicken leg, lamb shish, giant prawn, lamb fillet kebab, chicken breast kebab and a veg curry sauce and a naan on the side which they swap for extra ghee, yoghurt and saag paneer because I flirt like a mofo am extra nice to them.

Most places can be OK with a bit of change but I am quite socially anxious at times and don't want to have to negotiate every meal. Confused

I'd just like to do a PSA

This is my 4th BC I think? (Maybe 6th??) but you will get to grips with the rules quickly enough, just start at the beginning of the post and read it through a few times. Maybe print out the allowed list?

It's an easy plan to follow. I'd like to thank the folks who run it. They do a lot of work just to help us out. Flowers BIWI especially X
