Week 4 - Low Carb Bootcamp - We're not cheating at all, are we?!

Morning all!

Here's the SoF

Hopefully it will be working for you all. As ever, if you can't enter your weight, please ask on the thread and (hopefully!) someone will do it for you.

And just to reiterate StuntNun, this WOE really does work. However, it's a very unforgiving way of eating, and if you're going to cheat, then it won't.

I totally get that circumstances interfere with things - but we all have to try as much as we can to plan around 'off piste' occasions.

Also, however, don't forget that we're still in the tricky 3-4-5 week period, where it's not unusual for weight loss to stop altogether.

Remember - KOKO! If it worked for you in weeks 1 and 2, then logically it's going to work in subsequent weeks.

Good luck all

Breakfast was grain free granola with yoghurt and bluebs, lunch was fish and coconut curry with garlic and cheese spinach (sounds weird but it was gorgeous!) and dinner was the other half of the curry. Drinks - 2l of water so far, pint of green tea, coffee with almond milk. Have a babybel to eat later, possibly with a marmite tea. :)

BIWI · 12/02/2016 17:21

I've done so well over the last couple of days, resisting the lure of sweet things, etc - had a lovely, low carb meal at the hotel last night (roasted belly pork with creamed savoy cabbage, broccoli and green beans), managed low carb stuff for lunch - but nothing on the train back that I could eat, so ended up having a sandwich. I'm going straight through London and down to Brighton to meet DH and some friends for a gig/the weekend, and won't get there in time to join them for dinner, so had to have something.

And to add insult to injury, the train is running 30 minutes late, which means I'll miss my connection and will end up in Brighton at the earliest at 8.30, risking missing the start of the gig.

Thank goodness the drinks trolley is coming round with free booze!

hefzi fudge? There's LC fudge??

Flowers blacktea

I'm getting the window fixed (for free) by Renault so I'm feeling much better today. I still ate too much fruit today (cherries this time) only 15g of carbs total which isn't disastrous but I know better. I'm never going to reach my target weight if I keep sabotaging myself like this.

Has anyone tried macadamia milk? I've bought a tiny carton to try.

Well done feekerry, I have so much to lose I haven't even noticed a visible change having lost nearly a stone Envy

The lemon loaf sounds lovely wand

B: strawberries and total FF yog
L: leftover pulled bbq chicken with mozzarella and salad
D: celeriac chips (turned out very well last night!), pork belly, crackling and sweetheart cabbage with chilli and butter.
S: cherries Sad and 20g of Lindt dark choc. (Naughty naughty)

Wine for BIWI

Did I read about a fudge recipe above? There's LC FUDGE?! Recipe please!!
I made a brave foray into Lakeland today, purse escaped fairly intact bar purchase of a few lovely wee items and a spiralizer recipe book! Looking forward to trying the LC ones out over the w/end.
B:egg
L: usual salad in a lunchbox
D: will be LC soup with broccoli and cauli au gratin (fridge is running a bit bare so it's left overs night!)

BippityBoppity · 12/02/2016 19:04

I've weighed today and have had a small loss of 1lb. I've been quite strictly following the rules so was a bit disappointed, but hopefully I'll get a lovely whoosh in the next couple of weeks. I have lost inches though - even though I have loads left to lose and half only lost 6lbs, people in work are starting

BippityBoppity · 12/02/2016 19:08

Bum!

People are starting to notice and I've gone down a uniform size.

I can't update the spreadsheet - could some kind soul please update it for me?

Week 1 - 3 lb
Week 2 - 2lb
Week 3 - 1lb

Thanks ever so much!

Today, I've had

2 boiled eggs
Beef curry with broccoli and cauliflower

Will be having fish pie with Swede mash once it's out of the oven

StuntNun · 12/02/2016 19:36

Oh no I ate all the (low carb) chocolates. Burp. Remind me of this when I'm cursing the scales on Monday. Only 20g of chocolate allowed in a day Stunt.

They tasted so good though

LexLoofah · 12/02/2016 19:51

Wand please could you post the recipe for the lemon cake? thnx

Moanranger · 12/02/2016 19:55

Today I went through the entire recipe thread & copied the ones I fancied, then I made the Parmesan shortbread - v nice, esp with some butter. I stopped at 4 but could have eaten the whole batch.
B coffee with cream, 2 babybels
L 4 chicken wings, the aforementioned shortbread
D chicken breast with mushroom in a cream sauce, spinach, cauliflower mash
Had two cups of tea, 1 with almond milk, one with milk ( out)
Felt a bit hungry today, but distracted myself by dog-walking & also meeting a friend

Gcalgske · 12/02/2016 20:34

Pata I think she was referring to the idea posted of mixing melted choc with a bit of whipped cream - if you let it set in the fridge it goes fudgey. Never done in with whipped cream personally but it's really just ganache - if you google ganache recipes there are 100's but at its simplest it's just chocolate and cream. You can sweeten if you need too (stevia works). It's the lovely meltey bit inside a posh choc truffle. It goes fudgey in the fridge. Can be rolled into truffles etc, roasted hazelnuts, using extracts or a bit of booze to flavour is good too.

Gcalgske · 12/02/2016 20:37

Dinner was a success.
3 course meal for my Valentine.
Prawn cocktail,hm Marie Rose sauce (hm Mayo, touch tio Pepe, red wine vinegar, passata and cayenne👌🏻) with a tiny tiny bit of apple.
Steak, medium rare. Asparagus wrapped in pancetta, roasted shallots, cherry tomatoes with hm hollandaise.
Chocolate mousse (extra thick cream, 85% choc) with cinnamon, orange and vanilla, served with raspberries.

Tried fathead pizza for the first time tonight. Success!

Also opened a bottle of white... except I'd picked up a red. Chilled it and everything.

Oh well... Wine

Mookbark · 12/02/2016 21:45

Bugger! Had to go back to work unexpectedly, so didn't have dinner as planned. Had my emergency packet of pork crackling that was in my desk drawer and a couple of babybels I had in the fridge. Just got back now and having frozen berries with extra thick cream. Mmm, lovely. Might actually manage to have a proper evening meal tomorrow. Maybe.
Gcal can I be your valentine? Your dinner looks wonderful Grin

hefzi · 12/02/2016 22:08

Sorry - yes, the "fudge" is basically a pint of double cream stirred into 250g high cocoa content melted chocolate (it's approximate - you can mess with the figures a bit: basically, you use more cream than chocolate, otherwise it can get a bit stiff when you're mixing) and then 10g of butter (which makes it firmer and glossier as it sets). You can pour it into silicone ice cube moulds or into one big tray, and if you put it in the fridge, it gets fudgey quickly: it's basically a very set ganache, as gcal said- and you can miss out the butter.

It freezes really well, so if you use ice cube tray moulds, you can just stick it straight in the freezer and then have one when you need: I haven't made it this BC because I'm not yet at the stage where I could have just one Blush

If you want a BC friendly dessert, use 570ml double cream, whip very lightly, and combine with 500g melted chocolate and technically, a tea spoon of glucose (though I've never used that and it hasn't made a difference): dust with cocoa powder to serve (serves 10) This one < is basically the Delia Smith truffle torte recipe without the ratafia biscuits - the fudge one is an adaptation of an Asda fudge recipe!

Gcalgske · 12/02/2016 22:13

Any time mook, I'd love to cook for another LCHF person, had to give my hubby various carbage on the side of his. Felt like such a waste of a carefully constructed low carb meal Angry plus I'm jealous and wanted his chips.

Lemon cake sounds great wand, I love almond cakes - great crumbly texture and soft crumb.

vague wine is wine GrinWine fathead pizza really is a revelation isn't it? It tastes REAL! Whoop!

FelicityFunknickle · 12/02/2016 23:26

Pre weekend weight= 146lb
B: bpc and a hard boiled egg
L: turkey salad and mayo
D: oloves and chablis Blush
Did go for a run though.
Weekend might prove tricky as out for dinner and breakfast but will make effort to avoid spuds and bread etc.
Happy valentines to all bcers

Patapouf · 12/02/2016 23:43

gcalgske that looks lovely!

Looks like I'll be spending my Saturday making LC truffles for Valentine's Day to use up the 85% choc in the cupboard and I won't buy any more next week. hopefully

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 13/02/2016 07:49

More cheating here - dinner was a burrito, which included beans and rice, and I had a slice of pizza as well. I didn't want to make a fuss when everyone started talking about ordering burritos and pizza - I was too embarrassed to say I was on a diet.

LexLoofah · 13/02/2016 08:50

gcal that all looks lovely, your DH is v lucky. I won't even see mine on v day as he is away for work, will have to plan something for next weekend, by which I mean pinch all your ideas Smile

Thanks for recipe wand I am compiling ideas for maintenance which I will hopefully be on by the end of the year plus my current project is reducing DCs carbs so need to bake with less or no sugar for them.

too I am terribly shy and used to be the same about speaking up but it does get better, I see some carbs now like poison or drugs so would I speak up if it was actual poison or drugs? Extreme I know but it does work. Get back on it today, it is all part of the journey, just a blip in the road.

Off to pack up the car for our road trip, after swimming and kids party of course - going to be a long day

BeyondBootcampsAgain · 13/02/2016 09:18

Breakfast - grain free granola (i love this stuff), bluebs and yog. Coffee with almond milk. Had a bit of a disaster last night, kids had dessert that was a rather expensive treat (wont say, dont want to set anyone craving) and then ds1 decided he didnt like it. So i finished his Angry Gone now though, so cannot happen again.

shouldiblowthewhistle · 13/02/2016 09:24

Morning everyone.

Just have a quick question: I have been only eating LC this week but I haven't been eating much. No breakfast/lunch except for perhaps a couple of chicken wings or some babybel cheese. Then i had a gnawing stomach pain which I assume is hunger, but couldn't really bring myself to eat anything much for dinner, maybe some fish with creamy cheese sauce/veggies (maybe not even that).

By yesterday afternoon (I had a creamy coffee and some tuna mayonnaise by 3pm) I felt foggy and lightheaded. Came home and scoffed some almonds and then had some deep fried squid, which I know was a bit carby but to be honest I couldn't imagine eating LC food. It felt like I needed carbs and I felt better afterwards. I have just had 4 scrambled eggs with around 25G butter, cream, smoked salmon and an avocado but I'm still feeling that gnawing feeling. I still feel quite light headed/empty even after breakfast.

I'm drinking 4L of water a day so it's not thirst. I'm taking magnesium, potassium, VitD and a probiotic every day.

I wasn't trying to cut back, but not being hungry in the morning saves me time and then I rarely get time to eat lunch.

Anyone else get a gnawing pain/light headedness/feeling empty? Or am I just not eating enough?
