Week 3 - Low Carb Bootcamp - where you get to make a decision!

BIWI · 01/02/2016 14:41

Afternoon all! Apologies for the later than usual start to this week's chat thread.

Here's the spreadsheet

I was up so early I completely forgot to weigh this morning Blush

Now. It's week 3, so you get to decide. Do you want to move onto Bootcamp Light, or do you want to stay on Bootcamp? Or, do you want to do both - Bootcamp during the week, and then relax at the weekend, with Bootcamp Light?

The rules for Bootcamp Light are at the bottom of the spreadsheet, but in a nutshell it means you can add nuts/seeds (occasionally, and in moderation); you can eat some fruit - mainly berries, and again in moderation, and you can have the occasional alcoholic drink - again, stick to spirits and wine.

If you're happy staying on Bootcamp, that's fine - but if you decide to do this, please make sure you're getting most of your carbs from veg and salad, and not from other processed foods, otherwise you won't be getting optimal nutrition.

And now for the warning! It's very, very common in weeks 3 and 4 (and sometimes even 5) for weight loss to slow/stop altogether. If this happens to you, please don't be disheartened. It's your body catching up with you! KOKO, and things will soon start to move again - albeit that you're more likely to see smaller weekly losses, around 1-2lbs a week.

Patapouf KOKO! Why do DHs do this?! Mine is like a whippet and looks the same as he did at 18 despite eating and drinking what he likes! Mind you - he doesn't snack snd stops when he's full - two things I could not stop doing until this WOE!

Patapouf · 03/02/2016 17:18

DH just doesn't understand how hard it is for me to see him eating junk! DH has always been slim and could eat nothing but takeaways and chocolate and not gain 1lb, isn't life unfair?

I'm grateful my cravings have disappeared so now it's just down to willpower!

HammerToFall · 03/02/2016 18:29

Couldn't eat my tea, it was horrible. The fish didn't taste right Nd the cheese sauce for the broccoli/cauliflower was too sickly. We've not a lot else in until, tomorrow so scratching for tea it is Shock

TrinityForce · 03/02/2016 18:31

We had cheesy celeriac mash, steak in peppercorn sauce, tenderstem broccoli and feta for tea.

It was delicious but the celeriac mash is very filling! Couldn't manage most of it.

LexLoofah · 03/02/2016 18:34

pata skinny people can be fat on the inside, for me and DH this is not just about losing weight but stacking the odds in our favour against things like type 2 diabetes, dementia, cancer etc - would your DH consider changing to this WOE for these reasons? If not he really should respect what you are trying to do and not make it harder. Do you have some dark choc as that would be better than giving in as you would only kick yourself later?

LexLoofah · 03/02/2016 18:37

B- kobanos, scr eggs
L - spinach, roasted pepper, courgette, aubergine, shallot, cold roast beef, dollop of boursin
D - egg fried cauli rice with last of the roast beef tossed in 5 spice, ginger, garlic, spring onions, eggs of course and soy sauce
sq dark choc later with a peppermint tea

PaleoGirl · 03/02/2016 18:40

Thanks Gcalgske , shall pop over and have a look.

blackteaplease · 03/02/2016 18:50

Today I had a sneaky weigh in and I have lost another 4lbs! Must keep it off this week and not pile it back on again like last week.

Food today Breakfast ff yogurt with frozen berries and walnuts
snack celery and cheddar
lunch egg mayo and salad
snack small handful Brazil nuts
dinner chicken stuffed with mozzarella and pesto wrapped in bacon, celeriac gratin and green beans.

BeyondBootcampsAgain · 03/02/2016 18:54

Dinner wasnt enough, having a few bc-lite snacky things. 2 pcs 85% choc, few macadamias, cup of marmite

FelicityFunknickle · 03/02/2016 21:17

Advice needed please.
I am not being a good bcer. Eating is fine. But drinking is not.
help!

BIWI · 03/02/2016 21:24

What are you drinking?

Please bear in mind that as long as you're drinking alcohol your body will use that for fuel and won't be burning any fat.

shouldiblowthewhistle · 03/02/2016 21:31

Felicity I am your friend on this. Shall we take it day by day and hold each other accountable?

So, for example, we could agree to not drink alcohol tomorrow night.

But Friday we can indulge in some gin. And so on.

i have no other advice. I am only managing 3 alcohol free nights per week.

TomHaverford · 03/02/2016 21:35

Ive had a bit of a crap day so wont post what ive had. But my first and hopefully last blip. Onwards and upwards!

TomHaverford · 03/02/2016 21:36

or downwards rather!

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 03/02/2016 21:41

I drank rather a lot last night too 4 glasses of wine and half a bottle of alcoholic ginger beer. This led to a rice-related failure. But I will be heroically good from now on!

No breakfast (late, hungover)
L: chunk of cheese, mozzarella balls and crab paste stuff, all M&S.
S: Handful of pistachios
D: Pork chop, mushrooms in creamy sauce, followed by berries and cream and a creamy decaff coffee. Too much cream!

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 03/02/2016 21:42

And I did Day 2 of the Shred!

mustbemad71 · 03/02/2016 21:47

Great about the shred Tooextra come check in with us on the BC shred thread! I'm sure you've cancelled out at least a few glasses of wine.

FelicityFunknickle · 03/02/2016 22:03

Yes BIWI i am drinking alcohol. So disappointed in myself tbh as the food side is fab. Love this woe.
Thank you shouldiblowthewhistle. I have a celebration dinner tomorrow but, do you know what? I can still abstain from alcohol. It will be a good exercise. I will be happily sober.

BIWI · 03/02/2016 22:13

You are allowed to drink in moderation during Bootcamp Light though!

I had a lovely home made chicken and egg soup tonight. Dh and ds had chicken noodle soup, but I took out some for me and then mixed a beaten egg through it. Very tasty.

Home made chicken stock from the carcass of a roast chicken (and the jus and fat), with the carcass then stripped and the shredded meat put into the soup (also a fried chopped onion).

Patapouf · 03/02/2016 22:53

too you've just reminded me I did shred 1/30 on the weekend. I then sprained my ankle on Monday because of a dodgy pavement not because I was walking funny after shred

readyforno2 · 04/02/2016 00:20

Ahhh! I've done it again.
In my defence, ds2 has scarlet fever and I'm exhausted. I've been mostly on track but have slipped a little due to not getting out to the shops. Little things though, like bisto etc. so nothing too bad (I hope)
Forgot to weigh this week... Will have to catch up on Monday.
Still can't work out if the way I'm feeling is to do with lc or just that I'm sickening for something.. So much going around at work and with ds being ill too I haven't had a second to myself.

readyforno2 · 04/02/2016 00:20

Oops... Moany, moan, moan. Sorry Blush

ami9 · 04/02/2016 00:29

I had a surprise party thrown by my family and everything was carby. I messed up. Back on boot camp with full force 2mrw.

HammerToFall · 04/02/2016 07:03

Midweek weigh in shows a 3lb loss. Need to keep it off!
