Morning campers!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I hope it was a good week, and I hope that those of you who have been suffering from carb flu are starting to feel better. Remember, keep up the electrolytes - sodium, potassium and magnesium. Which means firstly that you have to make sure you're getting plenty of salt - so salt your food during cooking and add salt to cooked food.

For potassium, you could also consider Lo-Salt. Good foods for all electrolytes include salmon, avocado, spinach and full fat (of course!) natural yoghurt.

A note about weighing in

If you're a daily weigher, you have several different options. You can either just record your weight every Monday (or whatever regular day of the week you choose - I am going to start weighing in on a Saturday, because my trainer records my weight as well, to keep me on track!).

Or you can record the lowest weight you achieved in that week

Or you can average your weights and record the average.

Whatever you decide, I hope it's a positive result!

Oh bloody well HAVENT not have

ChesterDrawers · 27/01/2016 18:37

Laughing so much at baby elephant has taken my mind off my cravings.

ShebaQueen · 27/01/2016 18:38

Hang on in there Chester you have been doing so well! You need a major distraction, maybe a bath, trashy magazine, paint your nails, anything that takes your mind off the sweet stuff.

BeyondBootcampsAgain · 27/01/2016 18:43

I accidentally typed my sons nickname instead of pork earlier (which made me laugh as there is no meat on him!) but baby elephant wins Grin

Wombatinabathhat · 27/01/2016 19:17

Hooray. Chester got through it and is staying with us does happy dance

MumOnTheRunCatchingUp · 27/01/2016 19:23

I've just had lidl full fat Greek yogurt with a splash of cream, vanilla essence and cinnamon. Yum. However I didn't stir well enough and got a very sweet 'hit' of vanilla!!! Scared me! Wasn't expecting sweetness and didn't even like it

shouldiblowthewhistle · 27/01/2016 19:26

Thanks Wombat

Help please. I'm a bit down today. I've been in ketosis for 3 and a half weeks and haven't lost a pound.

I'm drinking 4L of water a day, eating plenty of salt, taking magnesium every day and digestive enzymes some days. I've been on my feet for hours a day, up and down stairs (more than usual). I feel better - have a lot more energy, less hunger and less joint pain but I'm still really fat Sad.

I haven't measured myself but my clothes are sometimes a bit looser and sometimes not, so I don't know what's going on. Some days I feel a bit bloated and others I feel thin.

I'm going to cut back on the dairy and I only drink about 1-2 bottles of wine a week (and that's a realistic target as my job does me in sometimes!). Could it really be that this is scuppering me? I'm super strict with everything else.

FelicityFunknickle · 27/01/2016 19:28

Well done Chester
B: bpc and slice of spinach and feta omelette
L: chicken, spinach and olives with mayo
D: kale, bacon, shallots, grated cheddar. Total ff yogurt.
Probably not enough fluid but going to the gym later so will need to step it up then.

AuntieMaggie · 27/01/2016 19:28

Has anyone been to Birmingham New St train station? I'm passing through for work next week and will need to grab some food nearby... any suggestions?

Equiem89 · 27/01/2016 19:33

Shouldiblowthewhistle we aren't meant to be drinking alcohol. It's full of sugar

Patapouf · 27/01/2016 19:34

So you've been having more than 2 bottles of wine a week? That is a lot of carbs! BC doesn't allow any alcohol for the first two weeks.
I vaguely remember reading something about alcohol being used as a primary source of fuel for the body, so many you aren't giving your body a chance to burn the fat?

shouldiblowthewhistle · 27/01/2016 19:37

Well..yes but it's red wine and I only drink on Friday nights after a crazy week at work. I've always still been in ketosis according to the ketostix.

I know it sounds like a lot but it's a lot less that it used be Blush

Do you think it really is the wine? damn

hefzi · 27/01/2016 19:39

shouldIblowthewhistle there's a link here about how much sugar is in various drinks, and here's some info about carbs in wine (per glass) and also an explanation of the burning off process - I don't know anything about this, but perhaps your body is burning off the wine before anything else, as it seems from this article that it's easier?

Wombatinabathhat · 27/01/2016 19:40

In fairness to shouldiblowthewhistle (S)he has been doing bootcamp with us. They posted on another thread and I linked them to this one.

should Most here are doing bootcamp which means no alcohol, no sugar, limited dairy (i.e. not milk) and getting our carbs from veg. In the opening post there is a link to a spreadsheet. Along the bottom of the sheet are tabs which contain pointers about what we should be eating and the carb count of veg we should be eating.

Wombatinabathhat · 27/01/2016 19:42

*has NOT been doing bc.

Also, you should be drinking plenty of water

feekerry · 27/01/2016 19:42

shouldiblowthewhistle I am the biggest wino going (or was lol) so I am not one to preach to you! But... A bottle of white wine can contain about 19g of carbs... X 2... Is quite a lot of carbs. So maybe your not in ketosis? I may be wrong. New to this. I am doing dry January and that has probably contributed massively to my weight loss given I was on approx 3-4 bottles of wine a week Blush I will be going back to the wine in Feb but no where near prev levels. Going to try stick to special occasions And couple glasses on a sat night. I know how hard it is but... The reduction in bloating is amazing. Maybe go without for a couple of weeks and see???xxx

Dinner tonight was half a spiralised (sp) corgette. Quarter of a carrot. Brocollie stalk. Big handful of king prawns fried in butter, big handful of spinich all drizzled with pesto oil.... Hmmmmmm

shouldiblowthewhistle · 27/01/2016 19:46

Interesting links hefzi - thank you. I'm guessing that maybe my body has burnt the alcohol before it burned my fat then.

That's mighty disappointing. It's now been over 3 weeks and technically BC is over so can I drink wine again? clutching at straws

shouldiblowthewhistle · 27/01/2016 19:51

feekerry thanks for understanding my Wine Wine tendencies. I have quite a stressful job and it's the way I unwind. However, I'm prepared to try life sans alcool for a few weeks and hope for loss.

Thanks Wombat for linking me to this thread. I'm more of a lurker than a poster so I'm really grateful for the responses, you kind people.

FelicityFunknickle · 27/01/2016 19:52

It might be the wine. I do understand. It has been the toughest part of this for me. And a bottle a week sounds like nothing bottle a night mor like I want to brain dh when he pours himself a glass and I'm strssed from my horrible day.
But bootcamp doesn't allow wine in the first two weeks.
And only a measley, stingy little bit in the latter weeks Sad
You haven't gained weight, that is good.
If you drop the wine I bet it will fall off.

shouldiblowthewhistle · 27/01/2016 19:55

Felicity It's def the toughest part. Eating like this is fine. Drinking like this is less so Sad.

I'm going to have to hide my emergency bottle of wine. For as long as I can hold out anyway.

feekerry · 27/01/2016 20:04

shouldiblowthewhistle on a side note the money I have saved is insane from doing dry January.

Gcalgske · 27/01/2016 20:05

Don't have a nutrininja/ bullet (want one) but I do do a lot of blending - I think I changed my mindset - instead of doing 'shakes' or smoothies I now make quite a lot of soups / hot or cold. I am useless at a big pan of soup, after one bowl I lose interest - but if I make a big pan of bone broth then blend in whatever veg/cream/ butter - raw veg works if your blender is good enough or left over cooked then microwave it if I want it hot.

Wombatinabathhat · 27/01/2016 20:13

should I swapped wine for vodka and soda a long time ago, as it's so low in carbs and calories but still feels like a treat.
Boot camp is not over yet, and many of us continue with it rather than swapping to Boot camp lite.

You'll find loads of help and support on the threads, whether you're posting or lurking Thanks

BippityBoppity · 27/01/2016 20:18

Good day today - plenty of veg and on track with my water. Feeling more energetic too.

My meals were:

B - two boiled eggs
L - Roast turkey, cabbage and broccoli
D - Lamb breast, mashed Swede and creamed spinach with leeks

I wasn't too keen on the lamb breast - too chewy and fatty for me I think. I kept the rendered fat to use for cooking in the week but I'm not really sure what to use it with. We're having gammon tomorrow - I was thinking about having it with eggs and chips.

Which low carb veg makes the best chips? I have Swede in the house and celeriac, but can get something else if it'd work better

antimatter · 27/01/2016 20:26

Went for the first time to the gym st lunchtime.
I was ver unfit this time last year.
Walking loads madd masdive difference to my fitness level.
As soon as I changed jobs in October I digned to thd nearest gym.
I can manage 40 min there most lunchtimes.
I hot nadt cold late December and it took me nearly 4 weeks to feel myself again.
I am feeling this is one of greatest schievementd that I can run 30 min non stop!
I didn't do c25k. Just tried every few month for the last 2 years if I can last 30 minGrin
I am doing something called slow jogging. You run no faster than you walk and you can still talk during your run.
Running very slowly protects your knees from wear and tear.
My aim now is to be able to run 60 min.

I felt full of energy today during and after the run. Went back to the office a bit hungry. But the healthy hunger. No pangs or slerpiness.

Is anyone else doing regular exercise?

I'll try HIIT at the gym tomorrow.

My dinner was yummy burger, fried mushrooms, cooked broccoli and dnl cream&blue cheese sauce.

That sauce is sooooo yummy!
