Dobroye utro!

(Or good morning Grin)

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Thankfully I'm nowhere near any scales at the moment. Apart from the food on the plane yesterday, I've managed to resist the lure of the carbs, although it was pretty tough at breakfast this morning, as my body was shrieking at me to have toast! But I resisted, and had two hard boiled eggs and some plain yoghurt. (I'm sure it was low fat, as that's par for the course, but it wasn't sweetened).

Anyway, I hope you all have good results this morning, and here's to another successful low carb week.

Signing in. I've lost a whopping 0.2 lbs this week. Grin In fact, as I didn't weigh last week after a horrendous Hallowe'en, I have lost whatever I put on last week, plus an extra 0.2 lbs, so I'm happy with that.
I'm pretty much sticking to BC. I have had the odd nut (salted almonds 3.3g per 100g) but otherwise been good.
Had the trauma of my poor old cat going blind on Friday, so spent most of Saturday at the vets. Then Sunday was DS3's birthday outing. I had a black americano at the cinema, then at the all you can eat restaurant, I had various meat and several platefuls of green salad. I also haven't had any of either of his birthday cakes. I then resisted the toad in the hole DS1 had requested for dinner last night! I'm still shining my halo Grin
I would like to lose 6.8 lbs in the next 6 weeks, if possible, so I need to be firm with myself. I am really enjoying eating this way, which obviously helps, so hopefully this is something I can stick with long-term.
Today, I have had:
B - 2 hb eggs with butter, 1 coffee with cream
L - hm mackerel pate with lettuce and cucumber. I love this lunch and am having it most days! I'm amazed how nice the pate tastes on the lettuce.
D - will be salmon with pesto and cheese crust and roasted veg
S - ff greek yoghurt, spicy chai latte made with almond milk and a dollop of cream.

Well done to those who have had good loses this week and koko to those that haven't. Flowers to all.

Suzymoo9 · 09/11/2015 17:23

OK finally found the relevant thread after missing the whole of week 4! Have not lost this week but think I know why (slight digressions) and not enough water. STill feeling committed and will try harder. Good luck to all and thanks for the new thread.

Suzymoo9 · 09/11/2015 17:24

or transgressions?? Blush

cardoon · 09/11/2015 17:35

Where are those salted almonds from hunt?

Huntthepigsear · 09/11/2015 17:45

They are from Sainsbury's cardoon Works out at a nice, round 1g of carbs for 30g. Although, I have been known to struggle to stop at 30g!

BIWI · 09/11/2015 18:36

That's the trouble with nuts! So moreish. My favourite is M&S luxury roasted salted nuts. Especially the pecans. But impossible to stop at just a few Grin

I can't remember who I was talking gherkins with on the last thread but I've discovered that Tesco own brand are only 2.6g/100g. Love a gherkin.

EwanHoozami · 09/11/2015 19:03

Hunt that's the brilliant thing about this WOE, it's really easy to stick at long-term. There's so much variety and not feeling deprived or hungry really helps.

AndTheBandPlayedOn · 09/11/2015 19:20

Ok, thanks, BIWI. You are right, the Lemon/Honey was a reflexive thing. I definitely won't do it again.

Thank you for the tips, Gcalgske.

LexLoofah · 09/11/2015 20:18

second the apple cider vinegar in hot water for sore throat, I have been sipping it all day as feel a funny throat coming on and voice is going. Also lemon, ginger & turmeric is good - turmeric is anti bacterial or something.

B - 2 buttery cuppy eggs, 1.5 lc sausage 'soldiers' spread with marmite
L - 2 mushroom tuna melts, cress, mayo, dill pickle
D - roasted pork belly, celeriac mashed with butter & cream, cauli with butter

choc and an earl grey latte

didn't weight this morning as DCs distracted me first thing. I have put the scales in the shower so I remember in the morning, well either that or ruin my scales if I am still half asleep...

BlueStringPudding · 09/11/2015 20:32

Newbie here. Have been low-carbing since August and lost about 10lbs, but have since stalled for about 6 weeks. Not sure why, but reading the thread am thinking that since around the middle of September I have been drinking less water, so maybe that's it.

B: Coffee with double cream
L: Lamb, spinach leaves, egg, cherry tomatoes, mayonnaise
D: Salmon steak, courgettes in coconut oil, spinach, mushroom & garlic.

Had a second coffee with double cream early afternoon.

CharlieSierra · 09/11/2015 21:24

I'm not losing weight. I think it must be the water, I can't think of any other reason. Unless it's portion size? Sad

B: avocado with dressing, coffee with cream
L: green salad, chicken, hm mayo
D: fillet steak, Boursin stuffed mushroom, broccoli

BIWI · 09/11/2015 21:46

If you're not losing:

  • look at the water you're drinking - is it enough? Check the table on the spreadsheet (it's in the rules) to make sure you're drinking as much as you should be
  • are you eating enough fat? We tend to be programmed to make low fat choices, so if you're eating chicken and fillet steak (as in Charlie's menu) then they are actually pretty low fat options; make sure you're using an oily dressing on salads, butter on veg, and that you're frying things
  • consider how much dairy you're consuming; some people find that dairy impedes weight loss, so try ditching it for a few days (NB dairy doesn't include butter or eggs)
  • are you on medication? This can also impede weight loss. If you're taking painkillers, avoid ibuprofen
  • if you're under a lot of stress, this raises your cortisol levels, and this hormone also interferes with weight loss
  • if you're sleeping badly, ditto

Portion controls could be an issue - whilst we don't have to count calories until we're really getting near to our goal weight - it's always worth checking that you're not eating too much.

It's very easy to eat habitually. For example, when I have bacon, sausage and eggs, I always have two eggs, 2 sausages and 2 rashers of bacon. Yet it occurred to me recently that one of each would be quite enough!

Billionnairewannabe · 09/11/2015 22:53

Hunt - snap! I lost a colossal 0.25lbs this week!! Smile However I'll take that as I thought I may have stagnated. Def due to not enough water in my case - I've been off work for a week & don't drink as much at home so back to work tomorrow and water drinking with a vengeance.

B- Greek yog
L - leftover pork avocado veg
D - prawn & avocado salad

on my last 500ml bottle!

WhiffyBiffer · 10/11/2015 09:27

Yesterday L:
Lettuce, chicken, feta oily salad & mayo

D: courgetti with sauce made from roule cheese & cream

S: smoked salmon, Lidl Turkish yogurt

Am losing weight but feeling v headachey today and legs like lead on the hilly school run. Can't get enough water, feel like I need a drip! Any suggestions what I can do to feel better other than keep on the water? And get the 3dc including 5mo baby to sleep better!

BIWI · 10/11/2015 09:56

You're probably not getting enough sodium, Whiffy. Make sure you're cooking with salt and adding it to your food - try a hot drink made from Oxo/Bovril or Marmite.

Also need magnesium and potassium - so salmon, avocado, spinach and natural full fat yoghurt will all help

OP posts:
LexLoofah · 10/11/2015 10:06

managed to weigh in, down a lb - need to get a move on, can't believe we are half way already

B - smoked salmon, cheesy buttery scr eggs, cuppa
loads of hot AVC and ginger to chase the germs away
L - will be leftover pork belly rubbed with 5 spice and fried with cabbage in butter - am sooo looking forward to this
D will be lc lasagne and buttered green beans

WhiffyBiffer · 10/11/2015 11:54

Ok thank you, am currently sitting down with my first marmite drink for about 25 years!

EwanHoozami · 10/11/2015 14:01

You can stick a wedge of butter in the Bovril / Marmite drink, whizz it up with one of those cappuccino frothers (Asda sells them for £2) and you've got a mega tasty way of getting lovely fat and sodium in. Might make one now!

B - poached eggs on spinach
L - pastrami and avocado salad with some walnuts
D - Ginger, garlic and soy duck legs with kale and something else green from the bottom of the fridge
S - greek yog, coffee and almond milk x 1000, bulletproof Bovril as above Grin

Gcalgske · 10/11/2015 18:20

Today is a bad day. Toddler has sick bug and today was shopping day. No cream in the house and I live in the sticks so no local shops :(

Coffee x 2 with 30mls whole milk in each
6 Pepperoni & 6 small cheese crackers with avocado and cream cheese dip.

Butter mint tea with coconut oil.

Have asked hubby to bring in eggs and cream on way home (but really just want him here now to help clean up sick) so might make an omelette if I can find the energy.

CharlieSierra · 10/11/2015 19:47

Good advice thanks BIWI, I'm struggling with the water, always do, but also am stressed, in pain at the moment and taking ibuprofen, and I'm sleeping terribly so I have a lot to work on!

B: avocado, oil & salt
L: tuna, green salad, hm Mayo
D: chicken breast stuffed with Boursin and wrapped in streaky bacon, fried leeks & cabbage

BIWI · 10/11/2015 20:52

Sorry to hear you're suffering, Charlie Sad

Is there anyway you could take paracetamol rather than ibuprofen? Or aspirin? But if not, please don't worry - taking care of pain is more important than your weight.

Are you able to do any exercise at the moment? This could help with the stress levels, which could also help with the sleeping.

But ultimately, you do what you have to, so don't stress about your weight in the face of all the other things you're dealing with. Cut yourself some slack!
