Morning all!

Apologies for the late start today - bit harassed and manic at the moment.

Anyway Here's the Spreadsheet

Hope that this last week has been a good one, and that you see the results this morning.

We have just four weeks left, so let's stay focused and see what we can do. All being well, we could get rid of another pesky half stone!

Good luck to you all

Strange days. I'm still the weight I was 3 weeks ago when we last managed a swim (100kg) but today the towel wrapped all the way round me and the jeans I had looked out as 'next size down' fell down after 30 minutes wear...

ditavonteesed · 28/06/2015 07:50

measurements are definatly the way to go, it doesnt matter what the scles say. I wonder why it is though. I have lost another inch and a half of my waist thhis month but not lost much weight.

Romeyroo · 28/06/2015 08:59

Nice to hear you have downward measurements too, gcal and ditaSmile There must be a tape measure whoosh fairy as well!

I think one of the issues which made me wobble at the end of the last in between thread was having reached target weight but still not being at target measurements, and I thought if I ate too little it would tip me into eating disorder territory - but of course there is no relationship (which I still don't really understand). Weight appears to be stable, next job is to ensure the same for measurements! I am reasonably happy with managing this WOE now, but I know I need to be careful.

StoneFoxMama · 28/06/2015 09:01

Dear God that fathead pizza base is something else. Dh proclaimed himself the luckiest man in the world to be married to me. He does cook, very well but he would never had tried to make something so odd and he's very glad I did. As am I, thank you.

I'm absolutely eating some for breakfast.

BIWI · 28/06/2015 09:25

Morning all. Thanks for the flowers and the good wishes. DF is still in hospital and not really improving. He has a perforated gall bladder and the infection has spread to his liver, which has an abscess on it. He has refused surgery and is DNR. The antibiotics don't seem to be overcoming the infection, and his temperature and heart rate keep spiking which makes him very poorly. They're talking about putting a drain into the liver, although this would be risky because it might cause a bleed (and he's on blood thinning medication because he also suffered a 'cardiac event' early on in this process.

I went straight up North on Wednesday after work, when I got the call from my DB (who lives near my dad), and stayed with my DB and SIL. Unfortunately my SIL is a WW/calorie-counting believer and dismisses anything else as a fad, and I've long-since learnt not to even bother trying to talk about - or do - low carbing when I'm there. Meaning that the last few days have been horribly carbtastic, such that yesterday my guts were in an awful state and I was constantly on the loo and crippled with wind pain.

I'm back home for the moment, so hopefully can eat properly again. But very likely to have to go back up there, because I suspect my dad isn't going to pull through this.

Although I would advise anyone else to put their diet to the back of their minds during such a time, it's obvious to me that I just can't tolerate such a high level of carbs - especially wheat-based carbs - so I will have to find some way around it.

biwi, thoughts are with you and your poor dad. Sad

it's a shame your sil wont support your woe as having bloated painful tummy is not fun. Is there any way you can provide your own food? I know eating is not your priority right now but the energy dips and discomfort will only make a bad time feel worse.

PeppermintFrog · 28/06/2015 09:56

I feel for you BIWI the last thing you need when trying to support your DF is a conflict with SIL but you need your health to be able to cope. Rock and a hard place. Can you use 'gluten intolerance' to get your message across? Most people seem to accept its a thing, and that would cut out the bread, oats, pasta, cous cous etc.

BIWI · 28/06/2015 10:03

I may need to consider that. Or take charge of cooking a few meals, if I'm staying with them again. Offering to do some shopping, etc.

miffy49 · 28/06/2015 12:45

Sorry to hear that Biwi. My mother had a similar episode a few years ago but she did have surgery and made a good recovery. Having said that, she was too poorly to make the decision so it was made for her!

I think a LC diet can sometime unearth wheat/gluten problems that have been chugging on without causing mega problems. Once you have been eating clean for awhile your body loses what bit of tolerance it had. It doesn't take much to cripple me now and its a horrid pain. You don't need that right now! The general grain intolerance might be a way to go as otherwise your SIL will move in with stuff like rice and quinoa and many is the time I been bought a 'special' packet of gluten free pastries as a 'treat'!

polealltheway · 28/06/2015 15:51

Hiya

Has anyone got a chocolate brownie recipe that actually tastes like brownies?

I have got chocolate and vanillia protein shakes and ground almonds.

I did post in recipes but I havnt had a response yet!

trashcanjunkie · 28/06/2015 18:19
Biscuit
Gcalgske · 28/06/2015 19:35

I like miracle brownies but they don't call for protein powder, I'm not a big fan of it TBH and try to keep protein pretty low (25%) so can't reccommend anything. Sorry pole.

WineCheeseSleep · 28/06/2015 20:34

Flowers BIWI. I second perhaps saying you have developed a gluten allergy/intolerance and you'd prefer to bring some food yourself. Or if money allows get takeaways some days so you can choose individual dishes?

My food yesterday :
B : Greek yogurt, BPC
L: Avocado, chicken thigh, HM mayo with mint added
D: BBQ! HM beef burger with blue cheese inside, halloumi, 2 chorizo-style sausage (1.2g carbs each) aubergine brushed with oil, avocado - went a bit overboard I think Blush

Today :
B : Bacon and egg, creamy coffee
L: Avocado and chicken thigh
D: Pork stroganoff with cauliflower rice

Hope you've all had nice sunny weekends

lisbapalea · 28/06/2015 21:38

biwi thinking of you and your DF; it must be horribly tough to see him so unwell. And while I agree that eating habits naturally become a lesser priority in times of extreme stress, it must be very hard if your sil isn't more sympathetic to your needs.

After my wobble on Friday I am back on track, but not holding out hope for weigh in tomorrow. Today's been good though:

B - 2 eggs fried in oil and butter, with avocado topped with Tabasco
L - leftover chilli with cauli rice and grated cheese
D - big delicious chicken salad which included celery, walnuts, asparagus, radish, cucumber and lots of oily dressing. Then had amazing pudding (bc light, I know) of berries topped with thick double cream and half a square of 85% choc grated over the top. Amazing how grating the choc made it go so much further!

Gcalgske · 28/06/2015 22:44

B: bpc
L: chicken thigh shredded with chopped shallot in mayo with cucumber and tomato
D: Made a home made pesto with basil, parsley, olive oil and macadamia nuts (my daughter can't have dairy), fried some chicken breast in olive oil with garlic, roasted some cherry tomatoes in the oven until browned. Cooked a batch of courgetti then stirred through the pesto, chicken and tomatoes with a bit of cream and shavings of Parmesan over the top.

trashcanjunkie · 28/06/2015 23:23

BIWI just wanted to send you some love. I think SIL is going to have to get out of your eating space. It's not like you're visiting in the normal sense, so producing your own grub might not feel like such an affront, especially if you tell her the situation has kicked off your guts and you know only eating xyz is going to work for you. Then it's not dieting Flowers

BIWI · 28/06/2015 23:53

I'm going back up tomorrow. DF is having a pretty invasive procedure, so this could be make or break.

But I'm going to say that because SIL is working, I'm going to take charge of the cooking. I'll make sure that the stuff I'm making is 'safe' for her, but also that it works for me. Quite how I'm going to reconcile low cal/low fat with low carb/high fat I'm not sure, but I'm sure I'll find a way!!!

OP posts:
Gcalgske · 29/06/2015 00:28

Make it low cal then pour melted butter on yours? Chicken / fish with courgettie / cauli rice etc, big salads with optional cheese / oily dressings?
Hope all goes well, positive thoughts for you and yours. X

Trash, just realised I never replied, I'm a tube! Hope it's all ok and 'just' IBS (although that can be bad enough I know). Glad they are looking into it and hope you get some help\ relief xx

Dumdedumdedum · 29/06/2015 07:06

Hope it all goes well with your father's procedure, BIWI FlowersFlowersFlowers

StoneFoxMama · 29/06/2015 07:08

Thinking of you today BIWI, hoping it all goes well.

I've been eating my fathead pizza for 2 days, it is so filling I can only do a 1/4 at a time. I topped it with bcl friendly homemade pesto with tons of olive oil, instead of tomato and it was heavenly.
Yesterday
B. Fathead pizza, bpc
L thin strip of fathead pizza, was too full still.
S garlic thyme roasted chicken in butter with cabbage, garlic butter French beans and cauliflower in a butter sauce.
Bit of peanut butter straight from the jar Blush

ditavonteesed · 29/06/2015 07:19

BIWI thinking of you today xxx

Thinking of you BIWI safe journey up North.

Oddest weekend here, people I saw on Saturday told me I looked like I had shrunk!?!? and that I was looking great. Tape measure is going in the right direction too, waist is a fabtastic 29.5 inches and hips 37! so really pleases with that.

Yesterday however was Ok food wise - not ok water wise, was out and about and there was nowhere to pee if required. Consequently didn't drink any water apart from 1 litre when I got back in the house.
Results a solid 2lbs up this morning. Trying not to panic and ensure it was lack of water and aiming for it off by Wednesday. xoxo
