Good morning!

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for your delectation and delight

Glad to hear that we're getting less squishy in our clothes! I think that's a far more satisfying achievement than a number on the scales, actually.

One thing to remember as the weather seems to be warming up a little bit - finally! - don't forget to keep your water uptake up. (And remember to keep your salt levels up too)

If you are stepping on the scales this morning, I hope you're pleased with what they tell you.

Major sugar cravings here. I'm trying to drink my way out of it (water!) but I'm wondering if it's linked to AF because I've not really had this problem during BCL. Frigging hormones Hmm

BIWI · 19/06/2015 20:33

diva you really shouldn't be suffering like this - are you eating enough fat and drinking plenty of water? Are you getting your carbs from veg and salad?

OP posts:
ditavonteesed · 19/06/2015 20:44

Thats the thing I keep upping the fat, make sure I have 3l of water every day and probably have more veg than I was before Blush. It's a problem I have always had but never this bad.

BPC seem to help I forgot to have one a couple of days this week so will make sure I have one everyday.

Sorry I feel like all I have talked about on this bootcamp is poo (or lack therof). Flax seed didnt really make much difference. What do you think about psylium husks?

mrswhiskers · 19/06/2015 21:05

dita I'm in the same boat Blush only been LC for 2 weeks and I was eating a vegetarian diet before that (lots of pulses and wholegrains) so I'm assuming it's the sudden change in diet.
i already take movicol daily for "lazy bowels" and despite doubling the dose I'm still constipated.
Made a flaxseed bread from a recipe I saw here and have eaten some today so hoping for a result from that.

Gcalgske · 19/06/2015 22:09

Food today
Bpc, bone broth
Corned beef & tomato with cheese melted on top (used to have this on toast as a kid - very retro and yummy)
Small portion curry with another bpc and a bit of cheese

HemanOrSheRa · 19/06/2015 22:14

dita that sounds horrendous Sad.

I spent 3 hours this afternoon at our local minor injuries unit with DS (again) this time with a buckle in one of the bones in his wrist. I had a minor slip in the form of a hot drink from the hospital cafe. I'm afraid by that point I needed something to soothe my frazzled brain.

Foodwise, all fine. I resisted the pull of a fast fix of junk food on the way home. I was very good, threw a quick chilli together, bunged it in the oven and went out for a run while it was cooking.

B - Alpro coconut yoghurt and double cream. Cup of tea.

L - Spicy chicken and chorizo stew, green salad with olives and avocado. Oily dressing.

D - Chilli topped with soured cream and grated cheese, courgettes fried in butter. 4 cherry toms and half avocado.

W - more than 2l. I stopped counted after 4 refills of my 600ml bottle.

There is alot of talk here about lamb shanks Envy. I may have to completely disregard the fact that DP and DS don't like them, and factor them into next weeks meal plan Grin.

BIWI · 19/06/2015 23:46

dita and mrswhiskers have you tried exercise? That can help.

Other things that have been suggested include coffee, high strength vitamin C and, in extremis, Thorntons sugar-free/diabetic toffee.

With the latter, just be very careful how much you eat. A whole bag is not to be recommended although it's very effective

dita and mrs w I may be repeating myself, but I had fantastic success after a serious bout of post op constipation using a box of mini enemas a got from sainsburys pharmacy. There were about twelve in a box, and they look like little tubes of toothpaste, but contain saline or something. You just insert the end and give a squeeze. I put a few in at a time and then waited and bingo. While I was using morphine I decided I wouldn't allow more than two days of no poo. It meant I didn't get into the same position again. I have used phsylium husks once in a drink. They were pretty powerful imo. Best of luck, that's rotten luck.

Incidentally, for those of you feeling bad about discussing turds, or any other bodily functions, can I just say I have absolutely no problem with it whatsoever, I think it's really important to be able to discuss all the bodily effects and aspect this woe throws up, or that are happening, so carry on guilt free from my perspective.

HemanOrSheRa · 20/06/2015 01:12

I don't have a problem either. Are you eating a lot of eggs, dita and mrswhiskers? They can bung you up if you eat too many. Just a thought that came to me as I was dropping off to sleep!

LexLoofah · 20/06/2015 02:24

Late checking In, DD sick today but thank fully not A&E job heman that injury sounded both nasty and bizarre

B - none, yes none, not hungry so thought I would experiment with fasting and with just a cuppa and a creamy coffee was fine until lunchtime (unheard of for me)
L - tuna hm mayo salad, olives, cucumber. Ff Greek yog, cream, cinnamon
D - hm beef and pork meatballs, scant tomato sauce, Parmesan over mashed cauli and broccoli with butter and cheese - nice as a chnage to courgetti
2 dark Choc walnuts and two more cups of tea

mrswhiskers · 20/06/2015 07:34

ahem, it seems the linseed bread has worked and I am no longer constipated.
I have been eating loads of eggs so maybe they are the culprits. I run 2-3 times a week so I don't think it is lack of exercise.

ditavonteesed · 20/06/2015 08:13

oh god Herman I am so sorry that my problem came to you as you were dropping off, Blush.
Excercise been running 5k 3 times a week and walking at leat 10,000 steps a day. wondering if some yoga or core stuff would be more helpful.

I did cut the eggs right down after the first incident, I do have a tendency to overdo eggs as I have my own hens but been down to about 4 a week.
Trashcan, are the enemas not just as bad as the suppositores? Mind you I have once ore left it too long so having a big problem. I tend not to notice if I dont go as I am a bit chaotic at the moment with uni and placement and stuff.

Thorntons sugar free toffee, that sounds like a pleasant reward for all the problems I will treat myself later and some vitamin c.

Once again I do apologise I am training to be a nurse so have a tendency to overdiscuss all things medical and bodily and I really want to sort this problem out as I love this woe so much.

Hope everyone is feeling better, BIWI did you find nice food on your day out?

PeppermintFrog · 20/06/2015 08:15

I second the eggs thing. I used to think it was a myth, then I started eating about 20 a week and decided maybe it wasn't Blush.

PeppermintFrog · 20/06/2015 08:17

Don't worry about discussing poo etc, it's something we all have in common!!

Gcalgske · 20/06/2015 09:17

Anyone needing new bathroom scales? sportspursuit.com have a good deal on at the moment (it's like secret sales but for sports kit) x

Gcalgske · 20/06/2015 09:19

I've been a bit bunged this week but started taking a probiotic and that's sorted me right out...

minibmw2010 · 20/06/2015 09:42

Weighed myself this morning, am 2lb off a stone. I've been doing LCB since April so it's taking a while but I don't mind now I'm starting to see results ????

billabye · 20/06/2015 09:56

Just had my first BPC. Better than I imagined and I can see myself developing a taste for it.

Today is/will be:
B- BPC one egg and large mushroom fried in butter and olive oil
L- left over fat heat pizza and salad with oily dressing
D- ribeye steak with buttered spinach and wild mushrooms with a dollop of bearnaise sauce

HemanOrSheRa · 20/06/2015 10:29

After the last couple of days I've had dita, thinking about your bowels was a blessed relief! It all sounds dreadful for for you. I used to be a nurse (an NA, years ago) and now work with older people. I'm used to talking about a variety of bodily functions on a daily basis!

Lex I hope your DD is feeling better. DS is much perkier today and is sporting his wrist splint with pride.

WineCheeseSleep · 20/06/2015 13:29

My food today :

B: Bacon, eggs and broccoli stalk fried in butter
L: Leftover roast pork with HM mayo
D: Chicken thighs with buttered kale

I'm trying to reduce my portion size this week, actually feels better paying more attention to my appetite as I think I was overeating out of habit.

lisbapalea · 20/06/2015 14:28

Have had an odd lunch / breakfast swap today!

B - fried egg, half an avocado, drizzled with oil and Tabasco, but of grated cheese, small bit of sliced red pepper
L - coyo yogurt and berries
D - will be sausages and salad

trashcanjunkie · 20/06/2015 15:07

dita I used the enemas because I'd had one in hospital after a suppository had failed miserably. If you've been constipated for a while the poo is too high up for a suppository to have any affect. The enema liquid can get right up there, and lubricate/rehydrate the poo, and especially if you are sort of on all fours with your bum up in the air for ten minutes before going to the loo.

Do I win the TMI prize? Grin

ditavonteesed · 20/06/2015 15:31

definatly Wink I am so fed up of thinking about poo, I don't feel that it should require this much thought and planning.

I have bought some actimel, the original one is only 3.3g carbs per 100g although it does have sugar and sweetners, upped my fat. according to the macros on mfp I am on 81% fat, 15protein and 4 carbs. much higher fat than that and I reckon I would just be eating lard.

Can we talk targets? I have 3 targets, the first is to get me within a healthy BMI and is 1 stone and 11 pounds from where I am now, I reckon I should be able to get to this by christmas. The second is half a stone below that which should have me in a straight size 12 clothes, I am setting that for the end of febuary next year and the last target is a further half a stone under that which will give me a BMI of 22.5, if I manage to get to that it will be less than I have weighed since I was in my early twenties. When I qualify next OCT I would like to get a size 10 uniform and not be one of the nurses getting slated for giving out information they obviously cant stick to.

I want to reduce my risk of getting diabetes and I want to weigh less than dh.
Do you think these sound realistic and acheiveable? What are your targets?

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 20/06/2015 16:36

Hi all, been slightly off course last few weeks, not completely but not good. Need to get back in the zone, anyone recommend a good (not too sciencey) Lchf book to read. I've read ipd.

BIWI · 20/06/2015 17:50

dita- that should be doable, as I assume you're aiming for a 1lb loss per week?

Just remember that as you get closer to your target, your weight loss will really slow down. Just make sure you're prepared for that, psychologically.

NaturalBlonde have you read "Escape the Diet Trap" by Dr John Briffa? It's very good and very easy to read/not too sciencey. Also, why not have a look at some of the links on the spreadsheet - there are various videos linked to there that are also very good
