We filled up the last thread and we still have 3 weeks to go until the next official BC so here is our new inbetween BC thread.

Link to previous thread

So, I was good yesterday and now all of my confessions are lost on the previous thread Grin but I am going to carry on with daily weighing and food recording so this morning I weighed 225 lbs.

STEP AWAY FROM THE PINEAPPLE!

Fruit is not allowed on Bootcamp because it's a) (mostly) too carby and b) we're trying to break our addiction to sweet things.

In Bootcamp Light you can eat fruit, but only berries. Pineapple is about 11.5g carbs per 100g so it's very carby.

BIWI · 27/04/2015 20:05

Oh, and if you're doing low carbing/Bootcamp properly - you are, aren't you - you should be drinking so much water that the ketostix won't show anything.

KETOSTIX ARE A WASTE OF YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY.

SayraT · 27/04/2015 20:13

I am exhausted! My friend persuaded me to go to a metafit class with her tonight, I am glad it is only 30 mins!!!

Really hungry but can't get off the couch Grin

Food Today

B: Ikea meatballs and fried eggs, coffee with cream
L: Salmon with asparagus and broccoli
D: Cheese omelette
S: FF yogurt with blueberries, mini choc 6g carbs

Eeeek, I ate 4 small chunks of pineapple! Sorry BIWI (you're quite scary you know! Wink). In my defence, I am doing BClite because I don't have masses of weight to lose and the ketostik was pale pink, which is the colour I was hoping for. Consider my knuckles rapped and I'll be extra good tomorrow Grin.

I'm liking the idea of a sort of Waldorf or Nicoise salad. I saw a nice recipe for a salmon nicoise. Think I also might try to make a sort of Eggs Benedict this week with a HM hollandaise sauce. I'll report back.

Gcalgske · 27/04/2015 20:27

Eggs florentine (spinach) are delish. I've not found a muffin replacement I like so usually have gammon, spinach, eggs and the sauce. It's divine.

sassandfaff · 27/04/2015 20:34

Sounds good gcal how do you do it?

sassandfaff · 27/04/2015 20:37

And does anyone have an easy Caesar salad dressing recipe?

Preferably one without 42 ingredients- like on the back of bought jars. Hmm

BIWI · 27/04/2015 20:51

TheHappyCamper I have to be scary Grin

It's like herding cats on here sometimes ...

Romeyroo · 27/04/2015 21:07

I have been freezing today, I think it is the weather (snow!!) rather than being due a whoosh though

Gcalgske · 27/04/2015 21:07

Sass, it's just Mayo, vinegar to sharpen it up, cheese, garlic and anchovy. I've no idea on quantities, I just start with a 1/4 jar good Mayo and add the rest till I like it...

Gcalgske · 27/04/2015 21:10

Sass this recipe is good. Omit the muffin and serve in top or rounds of gammon. www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/eggsflorentine_88979

Plus Beryl the feedback loop by which high levels of ketone bodies reduce fat burning is by raising insulin! That's why insulin-dependent diabetics can go into ketoacidosis, they can't produce insulin when ketone body levels get too high.

HemanOrSheRa · 27/04/2015 22:43

BIWI is terrifying TheHappyCamper! I've never met BIWI, have no idea what she looks like yet she still came to me in a awful nightmare about raspberries which I still haven't recovered from Grin.

Scales haven't moved for me since Friday. I was on call at the weekend - 48 hours Confused. I was really busy on Saturday and not feeling constantly hungry, snacking on high carb foods to fill me up 'just in case' and then feeling lethargic afterwards really made a massive difference to how I coped. I've noticed in the last few days I have a lot more energy and the wibbly feeling in my muscles of the first two weeks has gone too.

nappyaddict · 27/04/2015 23:37

Yum really fancy gammon, egg, spinach, asparagus and hollandaise for a ate night snack. Never made hollandaise before though so probably not something to attempt at this time!

justonemorethread · 28/04/2015 06:29

Hello all! Very interesting and motivating to pop back to this thread regularly!
I'm still continuing with my trial and only had one square of dark chocolate yesterday…

Last night's dinner was home-made
prawn coconut curry with aubergines. But surely there is a limit to how much fat we eat as well? Should we just use our common sense?
I made sure I spooned all the coconutty-creamy sauce to save me from getting hungry later in the evening. It worked but then I wondered if I had actually had too much fat?

I'm a bit institutionalised in the weight-watchers way of eating, so it felt totally wrong!!

I'm very impressed with all of you at how you've managed to keep going? Have you been doing this for long and do you find it sustainable?

I can't quite imagine never eating a croissant again!

TheHappyCamper · 28/04/2015 06:58

justonemorethread from what I've read, fat is sort of self-limiting as you get full up before you can eat too much of it (or feel sick). As long as you stop when you are full you should be ok. Some people have put their intake into MFP or similar to check their fat/calories but you don't need to.

I know what you mean about it feeling wrong. When I started I realised I have been conditioned to 'low fat' for so many years I was struggling with frying stuff. I'm not now Grin.

Plan for today is
B: cream cheese & flax pancake with FF yog, cream & berries
L: burger from butchers with cheese, salad & coleslaw
D: homemade chilli with sour cream & cheese, sauted green veg

Plus, today is my day off so I'm going to be chugging water like it's going out of fashion!

Well done to everyone KOKO.

StuntNun · 28/04/2015 07:28

Justonemorethread it's very difficult to overeat fat. At maintenance I found it difficult to get enough fat every day. The exception is bulletproof coffees which are almost pure fat so I wouldn't recommend more than one or two of those a day. Fat is still 'bad' in a sense, if you eat it along with lots of carbs. It is only in the context of a low carb diet that fat becomes our major energy source. But fat certainly isn't as bad as public opinion would have you believe. For a start blood levels of fat don't correlate that well with dietary intake. The reason fat was thought to be unhealthy was that it raised cholesterol which caused heart disease. Great idea in theory only it didn't pan out and studies didn't support the diet-heart hypothesis. The only reason fat was thought to be bad from a diet point of view was simply because it has more calories per gram than carbs and protein so theoretically you can eat a bigger quantity of carbs to fill you up and lose weight that way. Hmm If you want to test that hypothesis then fill a popcorn container with pork scratchings and see whether you can eat the lot don't actually do this by the way! The fatty food is self-limiting whereas with the popcorn you can keep eating until it's all gone.

Thank you that does make sense about the fat.
(Although now I'm worrying about carb content of coconut milk, will have to go and check!)

Those breakfast suggestions sound lovely 4cs, and I'm in Africa by the way! Which does make sourcing certain ingredients difficult. For example there is no full fat yoghurt or cream cheese here.

HolgerDanske · 28/04/2015 07:55

Hi 4Cs (Hope it's ok I welcome people, I know I've been a bit of a lurker so not really part of the gang, but I've been reading over the last BC threads and feel like I've been here all along Grin)

I hate to say it, but the reason you are starving after breakfast is because of that pesky banana there!

Honestly you will get so much further if you just cut the fruits out - they are pretty much just sugar going into your body... And you will only suffer for a couple of days, then your body and mind will adjust. But I won't mention it again, and if you plan on doing the May boot camp then I guess it's only another couple of weeks until the rules come into effect so I suppose it won't hurt too much to wing it for now. It would be a lot easier for you, and quicker weight loss, if you did cut out the fruit, though. And would completely get rid of that energy crash you're describing.

Hope everyone will have a lovely day.

HolgerDanske · 28/04/2015 07:59

(Or, if the starving by mid-morning thing was not related to the low carb plan you're on now and the banana you're having for breakfast, it was probably related to carb heavy breakfasts in your former life. Honestly, if you eat a good protein and fat-based breakfast every day, you will be amazed at how quickly your body adapts and the hunger will go)

Ok, promise I'll shut up now.

If you broadly follow the boot camp rules you will be halfway there by the time boot camp starts Smile

I'm Danish but live in the UK, so I dunno about exotic Grin

DarkEvilMoon · 28/04/2015 08:37

The4Cs you can bootcamp without dairy. There are several bootcampers who do. There are ways around it and there are wiser mners who can advise.

I have had a meltdown. I need to unpick. Food for the last week: breakfast if eaten was scrambled eggs, lunch if eaten was a sausage roll, tea was ok if eaten. demolished instead of some meals was a jar of something containing nuts, cocoa and sugar. Needless to say i feel like i have been hit by a trunk today. Not sure how I ended up in that cycle since wed, but i need to figure out what that trigger was as I want off the roundabout!
