We filled up the last thread and we still have 3 weeks to go until the next official BC so here is our new inbetween BC thread.

Link to previous thread

So, I was good yesterday and now all of my confessions are lost on the previous thread Grin but I am going to carry on with daily weighing and food recording so this morning I weighed 225 lbs.

Other resources that I find useful are:

Dr Briffa
Zoe Harcombe
Idiot Proof Diet (more for the chatty narrative than the science)

They do vary slightly (ZH allows porridge & brown rice, for example) but I try to interpret them in a BC way, IYSWIM.

Gary Taubes and 'Wheatbelly' by Davis also get good write ups, but I haven't had a chance to read them.

trashcanjunkie · 03/05/2015 13:11

Afternoon all. Big congratulations to the twelve stoners Grin I literally cannot wait until I'm there with you.

Tried to buy batteries for the scales but managed to forget to fetch the old one to check the power/size, so no idea where the scales are at, but have been off plan again this weekend. Not massively, but we shall see.

romey I didn't mean the 'nosing around' comment as a dig Grin I promise! I have realised I only have about two websites in the world that I go on, so if I've read all the threads I'm on, I'll do go nebbing about on other bits of the site. Saying that, I don't tend to watch a lot of telly, so it's my downtime.

Really pleased something's been worked out for nappy and I am not going to go mad if people have to ask questions, honest! Just as long as they aren't able to find out any other way first...

Romeyroo · 03/05/2015 13:44

trash, it wasn't taken as a dig don't worry. I don't watch telly either, I find it stressful. I only got one because well-meaning neighbour bought one for us as she honestly thought DC were deprived without it. I paid her for it, obviously. I especially hate it when DD plonks herself down to watch when she has other things to do...

I am in a crabby mood anyway today, it is an XH contact weekend for DC and it just sends DS's behaviour off a cliff and the house is a mess because it takes all my energy to make sure he eats, gets ready and does not do something dangerous and get him there on time.

gcalske, oh no - I hope you feel better. I just bought some zero noodles in H&B after reading you used them. Any idea why you might have reacted to them? That sounds awful.

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 03/05/2015 16:27

Hey. Rough day so just checking in. Benefit of bad days is less food consumed, lol :)

Gcalgske · 03/05/2015 16:39

I think it's a fibre overload! L

LexLoofah · 03/05/2015 20:43

Hello all, hope you all had a good weekend. DH landing In about 3 hours so we will all be pleased to have him home.

B - leftover fried cabbage & salmon topped with a poached egg - DCs looked on with envy over their toast and fruit, might try them with a few 'dinner for breakfast ' type things
l - ate out, had lovely juicy lamb burger on lettuce 'bun' and a side salad
Just having an almond meal scone with butter and a cuppa for afternoon tea
D - probably just a snack of cheese And cucumber or something as expect I will be full too full for a proper meal later

plumstone · 03/05/2015 22:02

Well have discovered pork scratchings. Bought one type in Asda, and they were like quavers, which is munched on for lunch then into Waitrose for their "posh"ones which I had for dinner so not the most balanced days food, but not Hungry so won't have anything else till tomorrow. Have one more packet to try but will aim to use as an accompaniment for lunch not the entire meal! Xoxo

Gcalgske · 03/05/2015 22:23

Weird food day.
B: two eggs mashed with butter, coffee with cream
L: at a rellies - picked at sandwich fillings (tiny bits of chicken, smoked salmon, cheese) lc veggies and sausage with aioli. My daughter was in a weird mood and wouldn't eat anything mummy hadn't tried so had some (one spoonful) carrot soup and some strawberries (2 medium)
D: roast chicken thighs (2) in olive oil, tomato, shallot and cucumber salad dressed with evoo and a splash of vinegar.
Just had a square of 85% green and blacks which is lovely.

lisbapalea · 03/05/2015 22:34

Have had a fair bit of red wine today as we had friends over for dinner but aside from that think I have been ok with food, albeit "lite" rather than the real thing:

B - grilled mushroom with butter, topped with 2 scrambled eggs
L - baby gem lettuce leaves topped with mayo / guacamole, chicken and cucumber
D - roast lamb shoulder, celeriac/swede mash made with lots of butter and cream, leeks cooked with evoo and cream, cabbage. Pudding of whipped cream and berries
S - a few nuts, 2 coffees and ff milk, a fair bit of wine (oops), prob not enough water - maybe 2litres.

Weighing in tomorrow and desperately want a loss even though I think the wine today as screwed things up.

HemanOrSheRa · 04/05/2015 00:25

Ppffttt. Absolutely rubbish day, food wise. I ate some bread Sad. I feel crap and my stomach is bloated. Bum.

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 04/05/2015 08:04

Staring my proper bc a week early (only just realised that means i start today), having been on bc lite. Anyone else proper bc-ing from today too?

MontserratCaballe · 04/05/2015 08:31

Hope it is OK to start posting here. I have been on several bootcamps but have lost my way over the last few months. I am going to start today too, Beyond, but will have to have a break next week for a few days, for my annual girls' trip to Spain. It would be rude not to eat paella when I am there, but I will rein it in the rest of the time.

I need to be following a programme to avoid just a small crust of bread here, a cracker there etc. When I did BC 3 years ago (under a different name) I lost 2 stone and felt fab. That was with no cheating at all though (food wise - I did have the odd g and t, glass of wine, but very much the odd one) but it wasn't difficult as the food was so delicious. I need to find that mindset now.

Anyway, wishing you all a fine Bank Holiday Monday. We are off to see some bluebells shortly. Can't wait Smile

clare8allthepies · 04/05/2015 08:55

I started last week, only 3 weeks until my holidays now! Lost 4 and a half pounds hooray!

Today's going to be bacon egg and mushrooms for brekkie. We're going out for lunch so planning on steak and salad. Not sure about dinner but have some leftover roast chicken to use up.

justonemorethread · 04/05/2015 09:34

Biwi and Sayra, I must say that I had been wondering what your motivation was with the bootcamp threads, and I am so grateful that they are here! It is the first time I have been able to really follow and enjoy a change in my eating habits, rather than suffering through a short-lived diet.

And it's really nice to come here and read how other are getting on etc…
I know I've been guilty of asking some stupid questions but I think I've got the hang of it now!

I'm quite looking forward to starting proper bootcamp because I feel I am psychologically tricking myself, having the odd square of chocolate here and there etc… thinking that I'm not on 'proper' bootcamp yet.

Still, I love feeling so much less bloated.

BIWI · 04/05/2015 09:39

Never feel stupid asking questions! Chances are someone else is thinking exactly the same!

justonemorethread · 04/05/2015 09:46

Argh! Just realised bootcamp will start the week I am due to go and visit my parents in Italy… it's going to be very very hard to resist croissants and pizza!!!

lisbapalea · 04/05/2015 10:24

Weighed in and lost 4lb! To be fair it is the same 4lb that I lost in week one and regained in week two after going off piste! But at least it's come off again and will motivate me to stay on track.

ditavonteesed · 04/05/2015 10:32

I wondered if I could join in, I have tried bootcamp before but failed with the willpower Sad I am in a very good place diet wise and have been calories counting for 10 weeks now with no slip ups but only lost 8lbs. So I think I need to try something else.

I started yesterday (well I had toast for breakfast and then deided), I had prawns and spinach fried in garlic butter for lunch and roast ham with salad for tea.

This morning I have had a slice of the ham from yesterday, fried in coconut oil with a fried egg on top. Was lovely.
It is my brithday on the 14th andf I am planning on going out for tea, the dd's have decided on an all you can eat fusion buffet place so I am sure I will be able to find things there.

We are going to a picnic today and I have salad and chicken legs and olives with feta cheese which I am looking forward to.

Yesterday I wasnt hungry at all and my fitness pal told me off for under eating which is the first time that has ever happened.

I am off uni at the moment so would like to get in a good routine with food before I go back so I know what I am doing and dont end up taking whatever I can find in the cupboard with me.

DD has given me her bento box to make lovely low carb lunches in.
Also I am currently doing c25k, is low carb ok with exercise?
Anyway sorry I am rambling.

Gcalgske · 04/05/2015 10:33

I had lost 4kg in an overnight whoosh but it's back. Since my encounter with the konjac noodles I've not gone no.2 and I'm scared. :(

Patapouf · 04/05/2015 10:38

I've a friend coming over for lunch and I'm frantically googling cauliflower rice recipes (I've never made it before) to go with some sort of garlicky baked chicken dish Confused.
I think I'm going to strictly meal plan for BC so I'm not in a position where I don't know what I'm doing and go off plan. Do you all find this helps?

Sorelip · 04/05/2015 10:41

I'm back yet again. I think I started too early before and hadn't let myself recover from stuff. Plus, I have an alcohol problem which sabotages good eating but I'm on the wagon and I know I can stay on track and lose the weight.

My main concern is finding meals that I can cook for the whole family but then add carby bits for them and greens for me. Whoever linked that ditch the carbs website - thank you, I've got loads of ideas already.

I'm on day three of boot camp now and today I've had Greek yogurt and tea with cream. I'll probably have tuna mayo with baby spinach for lunch and salmon with cauliflower and leeks. And a tonne of water.

Wombat22 · 04/05/2015 11:12

Patapouf I have to plan my meals in advance or it leads to disaster for me. I think the easiest way to lc is by preparing and making sure you have the right ingredients. This woe is very unforgiving if you go off plan Smile

Romeyroo · 04/05/2015 11:15

gcalske, if I had been sick yesterday, I would not be going no2 today either (what are you expecting to come through, you chucked up most of it, sorry to be graphic). Make sure that you drink LOTS of water, fennel tea is also good for digestion, and then massage your stomach/colon area to get things moving for tomorrow.
Are you worried the noodles have bunged you up? I'm guessing they didn't even make it that far.
Otherwise, Holland and barratt have some more specific teas to get things moving, but they are lethal, in my experience...

Sorry, not been able to catch up full thread yesterday, just having a quick (decaf) coffee having waved DD off for her year 7 residential (lump in throat) and needing a bit of quiet time before I take DS out somewhere.

plumstone · 04/05/2015 11:16

Have discovered coconut yogurt from Wholefoods 0.5gm carbs per 100 grams. Maybe a weekly treat as it's not cheap hut good to have something to look forward to during the first two weeks when it's no booze! Have a great bank holiday everyone!
