SayraT · 23/04/2015 08:05

We filled up the last thread and we still have 3 weeks to go until the next official BC so here is our new inbetween BC thread.

Link to previous thread

So, I was good yesterday and now all of my confessions are lost on the previous thread Grin but I am going to carry on with daily weighing and food recording so this morning I weighed 225 lbs.

thanks romeyroo I think at the moment I still can't envisage enjoying 85% chocolate Grin I just need to wait for my perception of what's sweet to change.

Failed miserably today and had a flatbread wrap for lunch, there was very little choice at the lebanese restaurant we went to because I hate aubergine!
Patting myself on the back for having a post-shopping vodka and soda rather than a glass of rosé though.

BerylStreep · 02/05/2015 23:44

hello all, been a few days since i got caught up with the thread.

Sayra thanks for the mini rant. I remember a BC a couple of years ago where some posters kept posting things like 'oops, fell face first into a chocolate cake'. I found it very distracting and annoying.

Beyond your caesar salad looks lovely. Love the presentation in the nice bowl.

Was DS' birthday today, and I baked a cake for him. He wanted the night's edge (a sword from Terraria) but my efforts ended up looking like a cock and bruised balls. Poor thing. I had to keep pretending I was having a coughing fit, I was laughing so hard.

trashcanjunkie · 03/05/2015 00:39

mini if you think that's harsh, I'm afraid for you. I say plenty stuff that is much harsher. And do you know what? I'm not even sorry. I stand by what I said. People put fuck loads of energy to create and maintain these threads, and frankly I for one expect people using the thread to take a certain amount of responsibility for themselves. Come and ask things if you have already tried to find out by, perhaps looking at the tons of information in the section Or even, reading around the subject.... Maybe one of the many many books that have been suggested countless times. Or other internet resources. Or even google it! Think about the fact that BIWI does this all for free! She's not the fucking teacher for christs sake.. Asking question after question, which should be easily figured out by doing any of the above suggestions is starting to boil my piss. If you want a namby pamby support thread, you're very welcome to go and start one. This is the kick ass boot camp thread!!! It takes no prisoners and neither do I.

nappy I literally cannot believe you answered my no more questions post with a question! I didn't have a clue so many people didn't know about the questions thread though! Don't people nose round the boot camp section?

Gcalgske · 03/05/2015 00:54

I just spat Buttermint tea all over my iPad. Grin

Gcalgske · 03/05/2015 00:56

I didn't know about the questions thread trash, I am a MN newb and find it an incredibly counterintuitive site to navigate.

DramaAlpaca · 03/05/2015 01:12

Thanks Heman, you are most welcome. Your support on this thread & others means a lot to me too Flowers

Romeyroo · 03/05/2015 06:01

StuntNun, YES to your tastes changing - particularly things which used to seem yummy now being sickeningly sweet. I have just filled my fridge (having been paid last week!) with yummy treats of hot smoked salmon and this utterly lovely Double Gloucester cheese.

Pata, your tastes will change over time if you stick with it, I could not imagine liking 85% chocolate either, but now I like it and recently tried 90% which I think is just heavenly (in small doses) because it is almost pure cocoa. Especially with coffee. What is great about this WOE is discovering new tastes, because the food is not processed.

trash, in the nicest possible way, I am a single parent with two DC, no, I don't spend much time on other threads in BC. Occasionally yes, but as a matter of course, no. I struggle to keep up with this one when it is busy. I'm guessing most people do what they can. Not that I want to turn this issue into a protracted discussion - the question thread has been pointed out, several posters have said, yes, that will be useful or I will try to help more there, so that is a positive outcome.

KOKO, everyone Flowers

Romeyroo · 03/05/2015 06:11

Oooh, and back to chocolate - different types of dark chocolate have different tastes, so for example, I tried one which came from Peru recently which was utterly lovely (but because I shop around I can't remember where it was from!!) and also, I prefer the M&S one to the Lindt one, so it is like anything, some you will like better than others. I also like the Divine 85% one, which you can get in Oxfam and some supermarkets. Seriously, once you have broken the sugar addiction and you are eating dark chocolate for taste and in small doses (for a wee treat) shop around.

And finally, as one of my treats yesterday, I bought tea from m&S which is cocoa nibs, rooibos and vanilla plus some kind of bark. Oh my goodness, it tastes so yummy and luxurious, I can't believe that there is nothing off plan in it. It is expensive, about £3 for 16 bags, but I am not sure I will be drinking it daily, more of a wee treat.

Romeyroo · 03/05/2015 06:12

Clogging up the thread, here, sorry, but just to be clear, I was talking about 85% dark chocolates in my post above

sassandfaff · 03/05/2015 07:34

Morning

Well, I went a bit off track this last week. Not ate anything I shouldn't, but ate too much of moderation food. Namely yogurt and berries. And i have just generally been picking/grazing and not having actual meals. Paid for it with a 5lbs gain.

Back on track now.

Looking forward to BC on 11th. I think it really helps to re set your carb creep periodically.

sassandfaff · 03/05/2015 07:36

romey was the Peru chocolate in a green wrap?

If it was, it is tesco and one of my favourites.

Dumdedumdedum · 03/05/2015 07:40

Good morning, all! I am going to ask what is probably a stupid question, but I can't find the answer on the question thread for the Jan BC, so thought this would be the best place for it.
So, we are starting the LCHF BC on Monday 11th May. The first fortnight is strict and completely omits fruit and alcohol (is that right?) and allows some dairy. Should the next 8 weeks be exactly the same for Bootcamp proper? Where does BC Lite come into things? And Ubercamp is even stricter than BC, completely without dairy, is that right? When is Ubercamp done?
Sorry, more than one question.
Thank you to anyone who takes the time and trouble to answer me and apologies if I have posted in the wrong place.

TheHappyCamper · 03/05/2015 07:42

Day 30 here and I finally got my whoosh Smile. I am so so happy this morning. Another 2lbs off, so 8lbs in total. (I knew my jeans were loose yesterday!)

I just want to thank everyone on this thread for the support, as I wouldn't have stuck with it through 18 days with no loss without you all.

sassandfaff · 03/05/2015 07:48

dum

The 1st two weeks are bootcamp. So no fruit, chocolate, nuts or alcohol.

The next 8 weeks you can have these in moderation and this is bootcamplite.

Uber bootcamp is a personal choice for anyone to follow at any point, if they find themselves stalling in their weight loss. I think biwi has put together a specific uber camp with recipes for 3 days, which has a carb count of 30g (I maybe wrong about the amount as I am going from vague memory, rather than having followed it)

Hth.

StuntNun · 03/05/2015 07:51

Dumdedum it's two weeks of Bootcamp then the rest Bootcamp Light. Some people like the strictness of Bootcamp or get better results so they stay on it for longer but that's optional. I am breastfeeding at the moment so I will start straight on to Bootcamp Light. Ubercamp is a very strict ultra low carb three days which can be used if your weight stays the same for several weeks (a stall).

sassandfaff · 03/05/2015 07:52

Sorry. Forgot to say, yes, uber camp is all the restrictions in BC plus no diary.

Just meat, fish, lc veg and butter.

Well done camper

Dumdedumdedum · 03/05/2015 08:34

Thank you for the info, Sass and Stunt. I KNOW nuts are my downfall at the moment so I am going to have to cut them out completely. Also wine, fruit and chocolate, as I can never stick with just a small amount of any of them, which is immediate sabotage. So I think I should try to stick to BC for 10 weeks.
Even though my weight has been fluctuating like a yo-yo for a while, I know what it's down to and am pleased to say that the only "bad" food I have knowingly eaten since I started here was yesterday, with the batter on vegetable tempura my husband had ordered. Despite many temptations, I haven't touched bread or potatoes, (pasta and rice not so hard for me to give up) which I usually can't cut out. So it's one huge positive that has come out of these pre-Bootcamp days for me!
TheHappyCamper Congratulations, how lovely to feel that your jeans are loose how lovely to be able to wear jeans at all GrinFlowers

SayraT · 03/05/2015 09:03

Just to let you all know I've been speaking to nappy via pm and we have come up with an alternative plan for her to follow which should make things easier for her.

I am not sure if she is reading or not as she did say she had left mn previously as she was becoming obsessed with certain threads and felt the same might be happening here.

I'd like to thank trash for saying something (yes, sometimes she is straight talking and some people don't like that). It is fine to ask questions, here or on the questions thread, but having the same one again and again (and via pm too) gets frustrating.

Morning All, just burst out crying in the bathroom, for the first time since last summer under 12 stone!!!!! Have lost 4lbs in 10 days, and they have been the hardest 4lbs to shift!!! Thanks so much to everyone for help, and suggestions. Now the 21 lbs before beginning August seems not that impossible!!!! Just had omelette, with onions and cherry toms and cream cheese cooked in butter - yummy!!!! Have a fab day everyone!! Xoxo

BIWI · 03/05/2015 09:47

Morning all!

When Bootcamp starts, I set up several threads. First is the main chat thread. I start a new one every week, and they are always numbered - so you'll see something like "Week 1 Low Carb Bootcamp - off we go!". I always put a link to the spreadsheet in the OP, along with a link to the individual Weight Tracker that MNHQ set up for us (totally private and unique to you, if you prefer it to going public on the spreadsheet)

As well as the chat thread I start a new questions thread for each Bootcamp. You're obviously welcome to ask questions on the chat threads, but they tend to move very quickly - especially in the first few weeks - so sometimes questions get missed, hence the dedicated thread.

I also link to the recipe thread (and may need to start a new one this time, as I think the original one is almost full!)

Just a couple of things to say:

  1. Sayra and I oboth work full time. We do Bootcamp entirely off our own bat, fitting it around work and home. A lot of our time goes into it. We are happy to do this, but please bear in mind that we aren't here all the time waiting to answer every single post! So please read the resources on the spreadsheet or watch the videos that are linked to there.
  1. Make sure you have read the rules!. It's incredibly exasperating when it's evident that people haven't bothered to do that. Similarly the list of allowed veg. Why not print both of them out, so that you always have them to hand?
  1. Bootcamp isn't an easy thing (the clue is in the name!) although it's designed to be as easy to follow as possible. It's not a forgiving way of eating, which is why it's important that I'm direct and honest with posters when they are in danger of going off plan and sabotaging their own efforts. I won't apologise for this. If you don't follow the plan it won't work. So others who have been bootcamping before also know this - and you'll get the same from them too.

BECAUSE WE ALL WANT IT TO WORK!

Anyway, hopefully all this is good practice for when we get going properly on 11 May!

I've finally lost a pound and left the lonnngggggg 5 week stall. Ho bloody rah!! Smile It's not dairy (which is good) but seems to be alcohol (boo) I've only had a couple at the weekends but that's the thing I changed this week. Oh dear.

Unfortunately this means I've only lost 13 since feb. That's about 1 a week I suppose, but 5 weeks of nothing is a long time.
plumstone I've got about 4lbs until I go under 12. This will be the first time in about 5 years!!! So excited about that so I can understand your reaction. Grin

MrsKoala · 03/05/2015 11:18

Morning everyone. Hope you are all well. I haven't been joining in much as i'm having rl stresses which is getting in the way of my MN life .

However i am KOKO. Albeit with some planned minor cheats. I haven't weighed for a week but at last check i was still keeping it off. So that's good.

One side effect of stopping bfing and losing the weight is that my tits (what i had of them anyway) have pissed off completely. I look like a bloke now. My pre baby bras are baggy, so i am going to have to shop for new ones . I bloody hate bra shopping, i always cry in the changing rooms.

Anyway, hope people are managing to enjoy their wet long weekend. :)

plumstone · 03/05/2015 11:20

Natural, I have dusted off my Pom poms and am cheering you on! What also helps, advice that my dearly departed mum preached at me throughout teenage years - I did ignore her as at 17 I knew so much better- sorry mum! But when eating any meal, after each mouthful think about how your tummy feels, if it's full stop eating - you've had enough! Surprising how little you need, if you are eating proper food, as in nothing processed everything from scratch, cooked in butter, cream - She advocated they were natural low fat was not! You will be full till next meal, this I have adopted, she would be so proud, and have that "I told you so" smug face!! Also that lots of water thing, not a myth! Grin

Gcalgske · 03/05/2015 11:21

I don't think konjac noodles agree with me. Woke in the night feeling nauseous. Spewed. Had a vague memory of it happening the last time I had them (but the family had stomach flu coincidentally and I put it down to that). No more satay noodles for me. Envy
