The inbetween BC BC for those who didn't do as well as they should on the real BC

SayraT · 06/04/2015 18:41

Ok, some of us (me) didn't do very well on the real actual BC and some others just feel the need to have a little extra push before the next real BC so this is our inbetween BC BC Grin

I'll start, I'm currently 222 lb and want to be 217 lb by the start of the real BC (11th May). I will be recording my food daily to keep on track, I am also going to weigh daily.

Food

B: Flax wrap with butter, coffee with cream
L: M&S salad, ff yog
S: S&V peanuts (none left now so I'll have normal nuts or none at all)
D: Cauli-rice with hot smoked salmon

I am not confessing my falls off the wagon. Your lot of falls are saintly in comparison. I am able to mostly function without the codeine and higher pain killers atm and have half a salad looking at me that I am attempting to eat. Struggling as I am pissed off with red tape and this is when I would normally skip food entirely but 1. i am trying really hard to stick to 3 meals per day and 2. I am out at 3pm and not home until nearly midnight will little change to eat during that time so I need to eat lunch!

Oh i'm so relieved Drama. Sometimes you see things online and then when they arrive the colour is unrecognisable. Angry

I'm sad that green doesn't really do much for me. It isn't horrible on or anything (like cream, brown or beige), it just isn't one of the colours which flatter my colouring.

What is your colouring, height and shape Drama (for some reason i feel sleazy asking that over the internet!)?

morning all, had uninterrupted nights sleep last night so feeling better on that score but a little bit stressed as had steeled myself to hand my notice in this Friday in advance of us moving back but now DH wants to wait 2 more weeks so now feeling all anti-climatic (if that is such a word English degree holders?) gah!

BIWI please can you post the link to your blog again, sorry I know you have done it dozens of time already. I found it online but it is asking for a password. Wanted to make that aubergine layer bake type thing you did a while ago, thanks

Drama can't wait to hear about 'the' dress, I love green and that shade looks gorgeous.

Well I should have posted yesterday that I felt all slinky in my high waisted work skirt with a silk top tucked in but today I feel even better as had to change before leaving for work as today's skirt was falling down! I only lost a lb last week but clearly inches are being shed or the fat is shifting around

The echalion shallots are much easier to peel. I only buy them now as regular shallots just languish in the bottom of the fridge until they go off.

I thicken gravy with a bit of cornflour. I figure there can't be that many carbs in a teaspoon of cornflour when the gravy is for a number of people. DH never thickens gravy so we get gloopy meat juices with a layer of oil on top when he makes gravy. It's very dispiriting.

Haha MrsK! OK, I'll be brave. Here goes: I'm 5'10", short highlighted hair which is naturally mousy brown, pale skin with pinkish tones, hazel eyes. Shape - a bit too pudgy round the middle atm Sad. Broad shoulders, decent bust, good legs. Too much tum & bum just now, but we're working on that, aren't we Grin. When slim & fit I like my figure, it's sort of athletic with a few curves. Right now I've just dropped below 14st and goal weight is 11st, possibly a bit less. I was 10st 4lb just before I got pg with DS1 (22 years ago), but at my age (50) I don't necessarily want to go that low. I look slim & healthy at 11st. Given my bone structure, I wouldn't be able to get into anything smaller than a size 14, possibly a large 12, but that's fine with me.

That green is lovely on me. I like most shades of green and also like dusky pinks, greys, subtle blues and certain shades of teal. Can't wear yellow, orange or brown. Dislike peach with a passion. Anything very bright doesn't look good. White is probably better on me than cream. I tend not to wear black next to my face, it drains me unless I have a full face of makeup, which I don't wear much. I had my colours done years ago & came out as a cool summer.

I nipped home at lunchtime & tried on the dress. Colour is lovely, but dress didn't look right on me. It was a squeeze to get on - there are no fastenings, it's an over-the-head job, and was a bit tight. I was a bit scared I'd get stuck & wouldn't be able to get it off Blush. Also, it was a bit short in the body for me so the belt fastened just under the bust, and unfortunately the kimono sleeves accentuated my shoulders too much. So, regretfully, it's going back.

MrsKoala · 22/04/2015 14:56

oh what a shame. I have a similar figure to you and i wouldn't wear that dress as i think it would add too much width to the shoulders. I need a sleeker silhouette. Also the waists on most dresses are too high on me too.

I can never get below a 12/14 on top and occasionally a large 10 in the right shape on the bottom half (flared/a-line skirts and wide legged trousers only).

What size are you now? What are your measurements? (Don't answer if you don't want to of course). I'm about 41-2in bust and hips and 31in waist and i'm 12st 5lb. I could never get down to 11st. 11st 10lb is my lowest ever.

At the moment I'm a size 16/18, depending on the manufacturer. I don't actually know my measurements - I'm shying away from the tape measure! My main problem with clothes is getting trousers that are long enough, and anything with long enough sleeves as I have orangutan arms.

I just tried a dairy-free BPC but it hasn't really worked without the butter. It's too coconutty for me grumph.

how do you make your BPC Stunt?

So, inspired by gcalske and her bun-less burger in the pub last night - I decided to go off menu and ask whilst out for a working lunch for the burger with a salad.

The restaurant was very accomodating, but I should have said green salad - the salad was chickpeas, peas, beetroot, spring onions and a few lettuce leaves. Noted, and shared, for future reference Smile.

Stunt have you tried the non flavoured oil? I use biona cuisine but some use KTC. Not sure why you are giving up butter, most people that find that dairy stalls them are ok with butter (well I am at least) x

When I buy shallots I only ever buy the echalion/banana shallots. Life is far too short to peel those little round ones!

Link to my blog I really must write more, but I've been a bit too busy recently to bother with taking photos of my food, and I think it's a bit boring without.

StuntNun · 22/04/2015 17:24

Babs the dairy-free BPC was 200ml coffee, 15g coconut oil and a splash of coconut milk blended with the stick blender. My usual recipe is 200ml coffee, 15g unsalted butter, 15g coconut oil and a splash (5-10ml) of double cream. I'm told it isn't essential for the butter to be unsalted but I get it cheaply from Lidl so I don't mind.

Gcalgske it was my understanding that the non-flavoured coconut oil isn't as good for you since the processing removes the lauric acid. Lauric acid is the medium chain triglyceride that is the reason why coconut oil is so good for you since it is supposed to boost your metabolism and it can't be stored by the body so it gives you an immediate energy boost. I have had to give up dairy since my DS4 has reflux and with my DS3 his reflux was exacerbated by dairy intolerance. I'm hoping to be able to reintroduce butter in the near future (since it only contains a tiny amount of the cows milk protein) but I need to get DS4's reflux symptoms controlled first.

B: ham and Philly rolls
L: steak and green beans with mayo
d: scrambled eggs and bacon

Could do with more veg but too busy to plan ahead. Any critique of my day?

I am a bit confused the confessions of low carb snacks. How much are we supposed to be restricting calories ? I wasn't paying any attention to calories. Am I eating too much?

Preminstrel

B: ham and Philly rolls - good
L: steak and green beans with mayo - good
d: scrambled eggs and bacon - good

Your food seems fine but just watch that you are not eating too much processed meat, today you had bacon and ham, both are fine on BC but not both everyday. You are right, more veg would be better Smile

Most people don't need to restrict calories on this WOE unless they are very close to goal weight. I thought most people above were only confessing to non-LC snacks (me) or snacks that they ate because they weren't hungry or didn't need them (babs). Just because they are LC snacks doesn't mean you have/need to eat them.

It doesn't look like you are eating too much to me but I have no idea what your portion sizes are or how many ham and philly rolls you had for example. If oyu eat when you are hungry and stop when you are satisfied then I'd say you are fine.

Thanks sayra. That's really helpful. I had two ham rolls. Steak and beans was smallish. 3X eggs and bacon.

I wasn't really very hungry at dinner. Could have eaten less I guess. I meant to have chicken salad but have been so manic I couldn't face going out to buy more salad veg. Will do better tomorrow!

Sound fine to me Preminstrel just need to be careful as you lose weight and get close to goal you don't eat the same portion sizes that you used to just because you always have.

I think it was stunt who said that when she got near to her goal she realised that she was still eating (for example) 3 sausages out of habit when, in fact, 2 were enough.

Ahh stunt that's a nightmare. I know a refluxer is hard. My DD is 2.5 now but she was a silent refluxer and still has CMPA but I couldn't Bf due to PPH/sepsis so never had to cut anything out my diet so didn't think. femoves foot from mouth and proffers Flowers

I have been told (on the last BC actually) that the refined coconut oil is ok but I'm not very hot on the sciencey stuff. Maybe whoever told me that can interject? I've gone for the 'middle way' as I see it which is biona cuisine. Biona state that they lightly steam the coconut oil to remove the taste but not the health benefits, you could maybe contact them to find out about the lauric acid? Or you could go for an MCT oil which is flavourless and is the original BPC recipe? I quite often make coffee with almond milk (almond breeze 0.4g/100ml or alpro unsweetened 0.1g/100ml) which could help lighten the coconut taste?
