Low-carb bootcamp

The inbetween BC BC for those who didn't do as well as they should on the real BC

SayraT · 06/04/2015 18:41

Ok, some of us (me) didn't do very well on the real actual BC and some others just feel the need to have a little extra push before the next real BC so this is our inbetween BC BC Grin

I'll start, I'm currently 222 lb and want to be 217 lb by the start of the real BC (11th May). I will be recording my food daily to keep on track, I am also going to weigh daily.

Food

B: Flax wrap with butter, coffee with cream
L: M&S salad, ff yog
S: S&V peanuts (none left now so I'll have normal nuts or none at all)
D: Cauli-rice with hot smoked salmon

Gah, morning peeps. Feel pretty repulsive this morning. Body in total revolt at what's been done to it since Thursday. Hiya to the newbies, and everybody else too

I have skinned the roof off my mouth with carby toasty goods so that's healing, and my guts are in shock. Nevermind, am back on the wagon. Walked past the mountain of chocolate in the kitchen. Bloody dcs crud, and they're at their dads til later, but it's gonna take them days to get rid of it.

Started on my epic water drinking mission. I'm aiming for three to four litres daily this week. Have decided to switch milk for cream in my tea, so have had one already, and breakfast was two bits of smoked back bacon and scrambled eggs made with one full egg and ten leftover egg yolks and cream. Dp had the lions share of the yolks. That fucker is only about four pounds off target. He looks hot

I'm off to start mothers car. Silly bint has flattened the battery. Again.

Woo hoo, KOKO

Hi Gang. I'll be hanging out here too if you'll have me. Grin I'm really struggling. (Nowt new there then!) I had been consoling myself with the thought that even through my mega stall I had felt well and my weight had stayed the same but this last week I have found my weight and blood glucose rocketing up. I can only put it down to stress but I managed to fall off the wagon over the weekend. Not mega stuff, just some bits of chocolate and hitting the sweeteners/diet drinks. Really need to get myself in hand again.

I was interested in the comments about the TV program. I didn't see it myself but it hit a chord. DH has had weight problems all the time I've known him. He was actually doing the old style WW when we met! Eventually it all caught up with him and he had serious health problems. I got sick of patronising doctors patting his stomach and telling me I fed him too well and basically blaming me for his poor health. After an episode of exceptional snidiness from one patronising little shit I hit the roof. I backed him into a corner and told him that DH was a grown up. That I worked hard to put decent food on the table for him and the kids and that if he chose to stuff his face full of service station crap when he was out at work then it was his choice and responsibility. I sailed out leaving him a little pale! Didn't do anything to stop DH. It took 5 days an a ventilator to do that, but I felt better. {grin]

Haha, well done you. I bet that doctor thought twice the next time he tried to patronise someone.

God, health problems from dieting or from the junk food crap? That's so horrible. I hope he's being more sensible now. The best thing about this low carbing for me is how adverse I feel to junk food. I honestly think it does something awful to your body >.>

I've had a few little slip ups over the 6 weeks. Tiny bit of dark chocolate = no problem. An entire homemade brownie = no cravings whatsoever.

One handful of Smarties? My cravings shot through the roof. I don't know what they put in them, but the difference in the way my body reacted was huge.

Afternoon.

Is this the continuation thread then?

Confused easily

Report
SayraT · 07/04/2015 13:30

Erm not really sass I don't know what it is. Normally the continuation thread is just the week 10 thread until it is full.

I originally only intended this on being my BC since I faffed around on the last BC and didn't lose any weight. It seems though that there are plenty of others who want to continue BCing between BCs.

You are welcome to join if you want or you can just continue on the week 10 thread. I'll be posting on both.

Can anyone recommend any really decent low carb dinners without a hob? Ours has broken so only have main oven, no microwave. I was thinking of cauliflower cheese or veg gratin with cheese and cream, is there any way of being more creative with the oven and fresh veg or should i just have a salad with it?

ps love your username preminstreltension!

Do you have a microwave babs? you can cook quite a lot of veg in one. when i am just cooking for me I use it to do my veg. Mostly because i am lazy and don't like washing up pots, but it is also quicker.

Sleep pattern was thrown out due to over training last night, which has thrown out of line meal times, eating and water intake.
Snack for pain killers (5am) 2 cold sausages
Breakfast (1pm) 2 sausages, 2 pieces of bacon, 2 eggs scrambled (plenty of butter)

Drink wise: 1 ltr of water and 1 cup of coffee.

feeling picky and due more painkillers so going to boil an egg and make a salad. more water is also the plan in an attempt to resist the urge to drink another cup or three of coffee

Roasted swede is nice Babs. I like roasted cauli too. I roll it in oil and garam masala. Things like celeriac dauphinois and I think someone did a swede one but not positive on that. Don't envy you. I think its probably easier to manage without the oven than without the hob!

BabsUnited · 07/04/2015 16:24

thanks anyway DarkEvil but I've realised I could just roast up some chicken thighs to go with it, think i'll do that tomorrow. Might have my last pasta blow out tonight and start properly tomorrow when I actually have cooking apparatus. Grin

If my brain was functioning I have a recipe for a courgette bake. can be adapted and tweaked but probably not great for strict bootcamp as it does have tomatoes in it. Tis rather yummy though so will post if anyone wants it. Good side dish for meat. I should make it at some point.

Babs I am a lazy fucker so use my oven as the hob when I can't be arsed to stand and do frying.

Roast anything you'd normally boil, steam or fry.... Use tons of butter, and foil wrap it if needs be, or put stuff in those Pyrex dishes with lids, or just wack it in a baking dish with tons of salt and butter. You can do eggs in ramekins, bacon on baking tray, meat and fish in foil or naked. Obvs, veg you just sling in and roast. It just needs to go in a bit earlier. I do curries and chillies and bolognese like that to, just bung the lot in and stir it. High as possible first, then stir it after a while and lower the temp.

Doing alright so far today.

Had tuna mayo with grated cheese and cucumber, plus red cabbage slaw, smoked mackerel and green salad dressed in oil and vinegar for lunch. Kept portions small. Have had 1.5 litre of water, plus two teas with double cream, one tiny black coffee and one fucking delicious coffee with full milk at my mates micro roasterie (sp?)

Am in the process of making cottage pie using just mince plus herbs and spices, with celeriac and swede for the top. As soon as it's in the oven I'm going to do my first couch to 5 k session. Will report back when done.

sass we are unofficially officially bc between bc, so although we didn't plan to be so busy, we are happy for anyone to join.

Disclaimer, I will be self appointed stick waver, so watch out everyone Grin

Hello Smile I joined the last bc thread but got lost somewhere! I continued (sort of) on my own & lost 9lbs. I would like to do it properly though reading BIWI's rulesi have a few things mixed up. I thought cheese, nuts were unlimited & I didn't realise yogurt was allowed. I will have that with berries now I think. I'm not vegetarian but I don't particularly like meat so I usually eat vegetable bakes like cauliflower & cheddar pie or courgette & feta bake. I also hate cooking (because I'm crap at it & hate the faffiness of lots of ingredients) I walk dogs for a living so I'm constantly on the move & Ive got into the habit recently of carrying a water bottle with me everywhere. Baby steps! Now ready to do it properly Smile

I will join in please. I am vegetarian so am following Rose Elliot's Vegetarian Low-Carb Diet plan - need it as I used to plan all my meals round carbs. Having said that, I have gone off plan today as a strange schedule so ended up not eating apart from a cappuccino til about 2pm, when I had two babybels after going round the supermarket. Came home, griddled some tofu and had that with some leftover vegetable curry from last night (homemade). I made cauliflower rice to go with it last night, was really pleased, totally ok. I was going to have a go at low carb pizza tonight but not in the mood for faffing. The recipe in Rose Elliot involves cream cheese, eggs and cheddar - bit strange. I have a cauliflower so could try cauliflower base... will have a think. If anyone has a recommendation for a base, I would be glad to hear it. I love pizza, if I can find a half decent substitute I will be really pleased.

How did you do your cappuccino lc lbn?

Report
lbnblbnb · 07/04/2015 20:23

I have to admit the cappuccino was out of a vending machine at work - so not on plan at all! The alternative, right next to it, was chocolate or crisps so I take it as a victory. Sort of!
I have read that people have cream instead of milk - lower carbs? But I am no expert.

sassandfaff - brilliant, looks much more the sort of thing and much easier. Off to try it now - I will report back.

Not a good day today and ended up coming home from work - feeling very dizzy and headachey. Slept for about 3 hours this afternoon which is very odd.

So day one didn't get off to the best of starts.
