The inbetween BC BC for those who didn't do as well as they should on the real BC

SayraT · 06/04/2015 18:41

Ok, some of us (me) didn't do very well on the real actual BC and some others just feel the need to have a little extra push before the next real BC so this is our inbetween BC BC Grin

I'll start, I'm currently 222 lb and want to be 217 lb by the start of the real BC (11th May). I will be recording my food daily to keep on track, I am also going to weigh daily.

Food

B: Flax wrap with butter, coffee with cream
L: M&S salad, ff yog
S: S&V peanuts (none left now so I'll have normal nuts or none at all)
D: Cauli-rice with hot smoked salmon

I'm currently staying with my dad, who's just come out of hospital following a fall, and there's no broadband/wifi here, so I'm reliant on tethering my laptop to my iPhone. Apologies therefore if I'm not replying to people's questions as much.

DramaAlpaca · 20/04/2015 09:47

Sorry to hear your sad news Lex. Condolences to your family.

trashcanjunkie · 20/04/2015 09:52

Aw lexy that's rubbish news! What a start to the week for you all. Big massive love to you and your family xxx

sassandfaff · 20/04/2015 10:24

Hope your dad is OK biwi ?

I am going shopping this week mrsk if those next jeans suit me, I'm having them.

There is a blazer too in next, it's not as nice as the Daniella one, but I really only want the best in a size 10. Hopefully that will be by Christmas.

What shoes go best with jeans vest top and blazer? I'm thinking little ankle boots, but it's summer almost. Any other ideas? I've got quite a few days out planned (beer festivals, food festivals, beach trip) so I'm going to go with said outfit above, a dress- toying with the green dress but I would get navy- and I really love jumpsuits!

Would my height and dumpiness be against me?

babygiraffe86 · 20/04/2015 10:38

sass for jeans and blazer I have a couple of pairs of Ted baker jelly ballet shoes which are my faves.

otherwise some nice wedges if you want a heel, or a court shoe. that way you can dress the outfit up or down.

Sorelip · 20/04/2015 11:07

I'm sorry for your loss lex Flowers

Hope your dad is ok biwi

I feel off the wagon in every way last night. I'm putting it down to my up and down emotions. I think I need to increase my ads dose so will sort out a GP visit. Today is a planned carb day, for my sister's birthday. There will be much carb twattery but I'm ok with that - back on the wagon tomorrow.

I think I was experiencing carb flu yesterday; I felt crap, headachey, hot and cold and sweaty. If I get it again, does anyone have any tips for getting through it without stuffing a pizza in my gob?

Romeyroo · 20/04/2015 11:29

sorelip, and I think dumdedum mentioned carb flu earlier, I have to say I felt dreadful for about three weeks when I started this WOE - the only thing which kept me with it was that my skin almost immediately cleared up!

I used to drink a large cup of hot water mixed with a stock cube in the morning, and I still do that if I start to feel headachy. I used the kalo organic ones. I think firstly, I realised I was very addicted to carbs and sugar and I can't actually tolerate very much at all now; and secondly, there is an issue about electrolytes, so you need to make sure you have enough salt (not a technical expert, so that is my lay explanation) which stock cubes will give you (there was a poster who used to take a few crystals of rock salt, and I do that now and then if I am using it for cooking).

The thing which stops me going for anything carby is remembering how awful I felt giving them up and being determined not to put myself back in that position.

MrsKoala · 20/04/2015 12:20

Sass i wear a lot of brogues and more funky style loafers with that kind of look. That's what I'm wearing now - cropped mom jeans, a trendy t-shirt, a teal coloured blazer, pink round toe brogues and a large tan leather tote bag from gap. Oh and the obligatory large sunglasses.

Dumdedumdedum · 20/04/2015 12:25

Romeyroo, thanks for the pointer. I am just a bit worried about adding salt, given that I already take tablets for high BP and have been told to be careful of my salt intake. I don't know if BIWI can advise here? (I do hope your father recovers well, BIWI, I'm sure he'll be glad to have you there to help at the moment.)
On the salt front, I have just opened a new grinder of sea-salt. The lid promptly dropped off and a quarter of the bottle fell into the crustless quiche I was preparing at the time. I fished out as much as I could, but unfortunately the finished article is far too salty, even for me (I love salt!). Bit of a waste of eggs and cream but I wouldn't even feed it to the cat, if we had one.

Romeyroo · 20/04/2015 12:42

Then you do need one of the more experienced posters to advice, Dumdedum, I think... maybe it is carb flu that will pass (I think for most people it does in a few days)

(you all sound too trendy in the clothes chat for me; DD looked at what I am wearing today and said this morning, 'I will come home myself, mum')

sassandfaff · 20/04/2015 13:31

Grin romey

I've just been to the supermarket after picking dd3 up from nursery. She needed a we, so I thought I might as well go as well. Had my pants half way down, when she chirps up

"you have a big bottom mummy"

Said in a matter of fact way, as if I might not have known.

Why thank you for telling me darling. Grin

sassandfaff · 20/04/2015 13:43

Thanks mrsk I don't like brogues, but I might be able to live with loafers. I will keep an eye out for some I like.

StuntNun · 20/04/2015 14:07

Dumdedum on a low carb diet the kidneys excrete more sodium, and more electrolytes in general. I go by taste, if I find myself wanting to add salt to food then I think I probably need it. LoSalt is good for adding potassium to your diet and some low carbers take a magnesium supplement, especially for ultra low carb. A multivitamin that includes minerals might be a good option for you to improve your electrolyte balance without eating more salt.

LexLoofah · 20/04/2015 15:42

morning all thanks for the condolences, one down side of living thousands of miles from family is times like these but DH happened to be visiting this week so was with him at the end and there for his Mum.

I know part of it was the diet and advice we have all been fed for decades but smoking and drinking to excess didn't help either which is why I said self inflicted, I know it doesn't sound very charitable as he was a lovely man but it has been hard to see him decline and be such a burden on the family but the end was mercifully swift and he did not suffer.

DH already committed to not end up like that and even more so now, I am so happy he has stopped his daily rum & cokes as would have ended up the same way I am sure as grand parents had diabetes too so odds stacked against him really.

DCs asking why Grandad died, I didn't sugar coat it I told them it was the smoking, drinking, not eating properly, not exercising and too much sugar, if something good is going to come out of this it will be that out little family are all healthier as a result

LexLoofah · 20/04/2015 15:43

romey sass your reports of what your DCs said made me smile, thanks

mrsk have cut and pasted your trench coat advice and emailed it to myself for future ref, brilliant & detailed styling advice thanks

MrsKoala · 20/04/2015 17:43

You are very welcome lex. How old was your fil? if you don't mind me asking.

DarkEvilMoon · 20/04/2015 18:25

Sorry to hear about your Fil lex

I keep reading your advice MrsK thinking that you would probably be Shock at the contents of my wardrobe. My current plan is a pair of wrap around trousers lined with fleece. Not exactly fashionable but hopefully practical for keep warm and easy to take on and off when footwear removal is a pita/needs to be avoided.

Physio has fixed my shoulder. I think. Tomo will be the test but it is far less painful than it was prior to the weekend.

Hope your dad is ok BIWI

SayraT · 20/04/2015 18:37

Sorry to hear about your FIL lex Flowers

I am having an early night tonight as I am shattered, I was back home this weekend for my dads 70th birthday. We had a fantastic time but the less said about the food the better Grin It was all yummy and delicious but just not BC-approved. Back on the wagon (ish) today and will be back on track properly tomorrow.

Back looking after bosses house again this week but at my house tonight.

I won't post my food for this weekend or today but I'm going to start as I mean to go on with my dinner this evening. I am having a cheese and mushroom omelette.

mrsk he was 75, had type 2 diabetes for about the last 5 years and Alzheimer's diagnosed about 2 years ago although we all knew it was that for about a year before that. He declined rather rapidly the last 6 months. Cause of death not known yet but I think it will contributed to the diabetes as that causes so many other issues.

Wombat22 · 20/04/2015 18:57

So far so good today. Nothing that wasn't LC friendly Smile

Preminstreltension · 20/04/2015 19:24

Sorry to hear about FIL and father lex and biwi

Think I did ok today.

B: ham and philly roll
L: grilled chicken from the Lebanese takeaway and salad
D: rest of butter chicken plus broccoli

About 3L of water.

BIWI · 20/04/2015 19:26

Thanks all. Dad is OK, just in a lot of pain from broken ribs - and that's only something that time can sort out. He lives on his own, which is one reason why I'm here, just to make sure that his first few days back home he has food prepared/doesn't try and do too much, etc.

DarkEvilMoon · 20/04/2015 19:30

Probably sensible BIWI he doesn't want to end up with a punctured lung from doing too much. Speedy recovery to him though as that is painful!

sassandfaff · 20/04/2015 20:03

Ouch biwi's dad. Poor thing. Speedy recover from me too.

I am really in a shit place. Completely trivial when compared to biwi's dad and lex's fil but I get so stressed and massive anxiety when dp is away for any length of time. I should be used to it by now considering he was in the armed forces for 10 years of our relationship, but I didn't have 4 kids for 8 of them.

I just end up drinking. It's either that, or eat myself to death with chocolate. (How I got myself here in the 1st place). The last grown up I had a proper conversation with, was my mum last wed. I go to no groups, know nobody around here and can't get out without dp being here anyway.

I hate his job. He left the armed forces to spend more time at home and ended up with a job that takes him away 50% of the time anyway. I'm supposed to be grateful that at least he's not in afghan while I am 6 months pregnant with 9 month old twins! (This happened)

Sorry. Just pissed off and maudlin. Woe is me and all that. Blush

TheHappyCamper · 20/04/2015 20:17

Awww sass that sounds tough. Most people would find 4 kids challenging if their DH was away 50% of the time! How old are they? Could you get out to the park or something tomorrow?

Lex, condolences on your FIL passing x

BIWI hope your Dad's ribs heal quickly. Ribs are buggers, there is literally nothing the Dr can do. I cracked a rib a month into my relationship with now DH Blush.

Having a good day here. Really sunny and only do 1/2 day at work on a Monday so was getting a bit of a tan in the garden this afternoon.

B: 2 soft boiled eggs, 2 oopsie rolls with butter
S: FF greek yoghurt, double cream and 1 TBS mixed berries
L: ham, wensleydale, salad, FF coleslaw and HM pickled onions
D: chicken Caesar salad
S: SF jelly with cream

Tomorrow I am making Thai green curry an will attempt some LCHF courgette muffins.

I bought a gorgeous dress on ebay today, navy with white polka dots, in a size 10. That will be my goal dress. Can't wait.

Day 16 here and still loving it, yey!
