The inbetween BC BC for those who didn't do as well as they should on the real BC

SayraT · 06/04/2015 18:41

Ok, some of us (me) didn't do very well on the real actual BC and some others just feel the need to have a little extra push before the next real BC so this is our inbetween BC BC Grin

I'll start, I'm currently 222 lb and want to be 217 lb by the start of the real BC (11th May). I will be recording my food daily to keep on track, I am also going to weigh daily.

Food

B: Flax wrap with butter, coffee with cream
L: M&S salad, ff yog
S: S&V peanuts (none left now so I'll have normal nuts or none at all)
D: Cauli-rice with hot smoked salmon

I found this.
Dress

If I was a 12 right now, I would have it.

Hello, everyone! I'm just popping on to say hello. I had a fabulous two-week holiday in Thailand, which was decidedly NOT low carb. But I really enjoyed myself and have today been back on the bandwagon. I don't feel sweet cravings or any sadness at going back to my usual way of eating. It feels like it was a special holiday treat, and now back to business as usual.

Hope you're all well. I'm looking forward to reading the thread and catching up.

DramaAlpaca · 19/04/2015 18:14

Wow, what have you started MrsK? That beautiful green kimono dress was in stock in 16 & 18 with ASOS this morning. It's now sold out in the 18 & they have low stock in the 16 Shock. I've just bagged a 16, so it'd better bloody fit!

sassandfaff · 19/04/2015 18:50

just made this cake

It works as a cake, moist etc, but I used 85% and it is very dark. Going to get some thick cream or whipped cream or even yogurt, because double cream over it, isn't strong enough for the darkness. Probably 70% would work better.

Made these burgers too. Add a squeeze of lime to some and then almond flour as they were wetted and it made them nicer. Yum.

sassandfaff · 19/04/2015 18:51

I used turkey mince from aldi though

BabsUnited · 19/04/2015 18:53

Roast chicken for a friend today for dinner (earlier than usual as we ate with the children) and I made some of BIWI's low carb coleslaw which was delicious. Am still using low fat mayo though which I know isn't great but I can't buy anything else at the moment. The dressing was mainly oil though, only 1.5tbs in the whole massive bowl.
We got bread from the amazing local baker but I wasn't tempted at all despite having a large glass of prosecco. She brought it round, felt rude not to have any. No idea the carb count but will draw a line.

Also been reading the clothes stuff through squinted eyes as we are moving soon and can't justify buying anything new. Maybe once I'm a stone or two down I'll treat myself

nappyaddict · 19/04/2015 19:43

Babs Be careful with white wine. pinot grigio, chablis, sauvignon blanc, chardonnay, cava, champagne are 3g per 100ml.

have cooked a beef joint and ceg for dinner. what do people have instead of gravy? was going to reduce the beef juice but there are hardly any juices in the foil Confused

Preminstreltension · 19/04/2015 19:50

B: ham and philly rolls
L: chicory, avocado, chicken and pesto salad with mayo. Really nice. Inspired by the chicory mention upthread.
D: slightly awkward as went for dinner with friends to a pizza restaurants so options were limited. Had chicken wrapped in pancetta (good) with green beans (good) and potatoes which I ignored (good) but it came with a sort of white wine gravy which probably had a few carbs in it (a teaspoon of flour maybe, and the wine). But it was a little dribble of it. Hopefully was ok all told.

Wombat22 · 19/04/2015 20:02

Hello everyone. I've been lurking on this thread.
I've done a few of BIWI'S bootcamps but fell off the January one after a week. I'll be on the May BC but hope to join you here until then. I've been eating all sorts of rubbish but I'm ready to start again from tomorrow.
Smile

LaiLoo · 19/04/2015 20:23

Hi Wombat. Im new too and a week in and have surprised myself by still doing it :0.

Romeyroo · 19/04/2015 20:56

I have just tried some 90% Lindt chocolate as it was on offer. Oh my goodness, it tastes like it should be alcoholic, wow.
I tried some 100% before ever doing BC and found it too bitter but this just tastes exquisite.

B flaxseed pancakes
L two hard boiled eggs, cucumber and mayonnaise
D spinach leaves, lettuce, cucumber and roast chicken with more mayonnaise
S square of dark chocolate as above

StuntNun · 19/04/2015 21:28

Nappy I have poured melted butter over roast meat before. Blush

nappyaddict · 19/04/2015 23:09

I added butter and cream to the meat juices to make them stretch a bit further.

LexLoofah · 20/04/2015 02:29

nappy I only have a (crappy kitchen aid) jug blender too, for mayo I do 1 egg, three quarters cup of light olive oil, 2 tbl sp Apple cider vinegar ( or use white vinegar - not malt) half tsp salt, half tsp dry mustard. Add everything but the oil to the blender and whizz for 30 secs, if you can pour in with the motor running slowly add the oil but if not then pour it in and whizz again takes less than a minute to thicken up. Taste it before decanting into a screw top jar. You can add more salt, pinch of paprika or cayenne to pimp it up a bit, I add more vinegar as like it tangy. I have started making double the recipe as that is roughly what we need every two weeks, keep it in the fridge of course. I tried using half coconut oil but did not like it.

I never really ate mayo before bootcamp, thought it was a bit bland, more of a salad cream girl but now really into mayo. Was given Heinz one at a restaurant today but turned it down as it has soybean oil and high fructose corn syrup in it.

LexLoofah · 20/04/2015 02:37

mrsk love the trench coats, have added to my JL basket as a size 12 for a goal. My Mum was overweight and had a long and hideous trench coat and she used to say it was like a sack of potatoes tied in the middle, so sad she never managed to lose weight and feel good, am determined to go down a different path

Sad news today, FIL died this morning, he had Alzheimer's mainly brought on by his self inflicted type 2 diabetes from his unhealthy lifestyle, so we are extra motivated to also avoid that path too.

Sorry that is not very cheerful, hopefully good news on the scales tomorrow, am I the only non daily weigher?

BabsUnited · 20/04/2015 06:43

Morning all! Back to work today so will be bang on the water. Find it difficult to drink enough at weekends. Scales still going in the right direction though. Thanks again whoever recommended Happy Scales, I put my weight in since starting this woe and seeing it on a chart is really great. Have set up three mini milestones and not far off the first one, can't believe almost a third of the way there.

Hope everyone had good weekends. I need to get on this Mayo making thing tonight, got lots of oil to use up.
Today's menu:
B: 2x scrambled eggs with butter
L: leftover roast chicken with salad and my amazing hm coleslaw
D: not sure yet. DH at home today and he usually cooks on Mondays, will have to brief him Grin

BabsUnited · 20/04/2015 06:43

Sorry to hear about your fil lex Flowers

Romeyroo · 20/04/2015 06:59

I am sorry about your FIL, Lex, I do think that the diet advice for the last 3 - 4 decades has a role to play, plus the availability of mass-marketed junk food (often marketed as healthy) Sad

I am a daily weigher these days as nothing is moving really - I was down two lbs at some point last week which put me one pound away from final goal weight, but I am back up those two pounds today. Mind you, it took me about five weeks to lose two pounds before that so will KOKO.

Romeyroo · 20/04/2015 07:05

Random reflection - I like the comment from Biwi that it was the carbs that made me fat in the first place - so true; I try to remember this. I am so glad to have found the bootcamps (thanks to an MN friend in RL). To the newbies, welcome and keep with it Smile.

Dumdedumdedum · 20/04/2015 07:12

LexLoofah Condolences on your FIL's death. Flowers Can't contribute much, my mother had dementia and rampant diabetes, which was controlled towards the end, rubbish way to go.

I weigh daily too and am feeling set back today as have stayed the same (as yesterday). I know I didn't drink enough water nor eat enough vegetables yesterday so will make an effort to amend that. I have had a headache and pains in the neck and been feeling rubbish since the night before last, I am hoping this is the "low-carb flu" I've read about and that it will wear off today (Day 7). Or else it's meningitis, obviously.

Good luck to all in KOKO today!

Dumdedumdedum · 20/04/2015 07:14

Romeyroo Sorry, meant to say congratulations on being so close to your goal Flowers What an achievement! That's a huge encouragement to someone like me who is just on the starting blocks!

sassandfaff · 20/04/2015 07:53

Sorry about your fil lex Thanks

Fatstacks · 20/04/2015 08:22

Sorry for your loss Lex Flowers

MrsKoala · 20/04/2015 09:05

Lex i am so sorry to hear your sad news Flowers condolences to your DH too.

On a completely trivial separate note - i feel like a twat posting something so inconsequential now - about the trench coat comment being like a sack of spuds tied in the middle. Even the slimmest person can look like that with the wrong trench or even coat sometimes. The trench material can look a bit like a crumply brown bag and if it is cut on the loose side and you tie the belt it will always bag over and flare out under.

What i do is get a single breasted, never do it up to the neck if it's high cut (i open the flaps to create a deep v drawing the eye down and wear a nice scarf). I also rarely do the belt up at the front unless i am looking very slim (also i am tall so a belt doesn't cut me in half quite as much as a shorter lass. If you are on the wee side i wouldn't do the belt up at all unless you were wearing skyscraper heels). What i do is buy a slim cut trench and to taper the waist area, i tie the belt round the back. So put it thru the side loops then double back the belt on itself and tie it quite fitted. do this in front of a mirror so you get the right shape (otherwise you can do it too tight/loose)

Also you don't need to wear the classic trench beige. I am a cool winter colouring and beige would drain me. I have a lovely dark purple collarless one from Hobbs.

Glad you all like the dresses, if you want me to find anything else let me know.

Right, i shall stop wittering on about pointless froth now and get ready for my non surgical consultation. (i'm having a broken capillary under my eye removed and maybe some more fillers)

BIWI · 20/04/2015 09:40

Sorry to hear about your FIL, Lex Flowers

I think it's very telling that Alzheimer's Disease is, in some quarters, being called Type 3 Diabetes.
