The inbetween BC BC for those who didn't do as well as they should on the real BC

SayraT · 06/04/2015 18:41

Ok, some of us (me) didn't do very well on the real actual BC and some others just feel the need to have a little extra push before the next real BC so this is our inbetween BC BC Grin

I'll start, I'm currently 222 lb and want to be 217 lb by the start of the real BC (11th May). I will be recording my food daily to keep on track, I am also going to weigh daily.

Food

B: Flax wrap with butter, coffee with cream
L: M&S salad, ff yog
S: S&V peanuts (none left now so I'll have normal nuts or none at all)
D: Cauli-rice with hot smoked salmon

Oh, and endive is really low carb, so you can continue to enjoy it!

This is an American site, so you deduct the fibre count so it looks like it's less than 1g carbs per 100g

BIWI · 16/04/2015 08:19

nappy all that looks fine, but obviously it depends on quantities as to exactly how many carbs. Apart from the carrots, that's all pretty low carb veg, so I wouldn't worry about that too much. Just leave the carrot out.

sassandfaff · 16/04/2015 08:20

Waves to all the newbies.

dum I don't list mine anymore, but I did at the beginning. I've not fell of the wagon and don't feel in danger of doing, so I decided to stop. i kept forgetting

shera I have days where I eat loads too. I just go with it, cos I figure I would get cravings for food if I didn't. I have always been a feast or famine type, but these last few weeks have been the most stable of my life. I'm eating 3 meals a day, almost everyday and I'm eating them at conventional times. [shocked]

I'm conventional!

Thanks sass. I was a bit depressed by the snacking thing yesterday as I've been following the bootcamp rules to the letter for a week (I'm on day 9). I haven't felt ravenously hungry in all that time. But yesterday I just felt like something was 'missing'. Maybe that's where my emotional eating comes in? Eating for treats or to soothe etc? Hmmm. Anyway, I went to bed at 9pm last night so I couldn't eat anything else!

I am really looking forward to a small bowl of raspberries with cream, a few chopped nuts and a whisper of grated dark chocolate. Really, really looking forward to it.

Gcalgske · 16/04/2015 09:08

Nappy as Biwi says that sounds good, I'd leave out carrot too. I like this recipe www.waitrose.com/home/recipes/recipe_directory/c/creamy_pork_with_garlic_mushrooms.html

Which would give you a basic frame work for amounts of mustard etc (obv varieties of mustard are interchangeable and add in the good low carb veg you mentioned) I have made this but swapped the wine for stock but it's not that much, worked well in the slow cooker. X

Gcalgske · 16/04/2015 09:10

Badger my weight comes off in chunks - I've lost 3kg over night before ( although 1kg is more normal) x
It's an ace feeling!

Gcalgske · 16/04/2015 09:14

Although I am waiting for the whoosh fairy. She is overdue.....

sassandfaff · 16/04/2015 09:30

shera I don't emotionally eat anymore, I seemed to have replaced it with drink. Hmm

But I did use to. I find that if I tell myself I can't have something or I'm going to restrict something, I end up eating more than I would have done, if I'd never said it.

It is a mind flip. And I really think you have to be in the right place for it. I tried a year ago, and didn't stick it. For some reason this year I have. I think it's because I see it as forever, and not just until I reach my target weight. Being into sports helps to, because I know being in ketosis will be more beneficial.

I think it really helps to know how it works and why. It's very hard to cheat then IMO.

I had my whoosh fairy. Ironically, after BC ended. Go figure. Grin

sassandfaff · 16/04/2015 09:32

badger I think mine was 3/4lb.

But I have had that the other way too.

nappyaddict · 16/04/2015 09:35

BIWI The index weight things makes sense now!! I thought we'd got a few 100lb anorexics on the spreadsheet. [b

To whoever asked about an easy way to search the threads:

Right at the top of the page, just above the page number, there's a link that says 'show 1000 messages'. This means all of the messages will be displayed on one page. Click it and the page will reload.

Then on the keyboard, press control' (ctrl) then the letter 'f' together. This brings up a little search box in the top right hand corner, type in a word you know is in the recipe you're searching for (or the name of the poster you know posted it) and press enter, then it'll highlight every instance of that word on the page.

nappyaddict · 16/04/2015 10:05

gcalgske I used 6 tbsp of cream and 3 tbsp mustard so perhaps too much mustard, hopefully will turn out OK. Very nearly forgot to turn the slow cooker on as I left for work.

Dumdedumdedum · 16/04/2015 10:07

BIWI - thanks for all that information. I will wait until 11 May to see how brave I am about declaring my actual weight or whether I'll go from 100 - I definitely want to be on the spreadsheet, though, as I figure this will give me even more of an incentive! So glad about the chicory, just need to ready-make vinaigrette so I can whip up a salad when I feel hungry.
Sass Thank you for the welcome and the hint. I do so identify with what you say in your post at 9.30.48 - it is definitely all about the mindflip, you've got to be in the right place mentally or it just won't work!

Dumdedumdedum · 16/04/2015 10:12

Oh, dear, another question, really sorry, but I haven't found the answer on the spreadsheet, though maybe I've been looking in the wrong place. On the bootcamp, are we aiming at a specific maximum amount of carbs daily? I have read in other places that low-carb is below 100gms, or below 50gms or even below 20gms, so I am somewhat confused as to what we should be aiming for. Or are we not carb counting as such? Apologies again for stupid questions.

sassandfaff · 16/04/2015 10:28

dum they're not stupid questions.

Most low carb say under 50g to keep you in ketosis, but biwi has specifically picked rules and food that is under 3-5g , so that you can do it without the faff of carb counting.

sassandfaff · 16/04/2015 10:30

You have no idea how many times I have scrolled through that bastard thread. Grin

I hate technology. But I wish I was good at it!

BabsUnited · 16/04/2015 10:44

haha, you're welcome Wink

minibmw2010 · 16/04/2015 11:16

Breakfast was a bowl of FF Greek yoghurt because I'd run out of everything and had to do a shop afterwards. Lunch will be a salad with egg mayo, some cheese and an avocado, maybe some Palma ham and dinner is probably a gammon steak cooked in coconut oil with some veg cooked in butter.

DramaAlpaca · 16/04/2015 12:26

OK, 18 days in, here are the positives:

  • bloating has gone
  • my wedding ring is loose
  • my jeans are loose
  • I know I'm in ketosis because I've tested a few times
  • no more joint soreness in fingers or knees
  • I look slimmer around my upper arms, chest & face
  • no afternoon energy slump
  • sleeping much better
  • no cravings for carbs/caffeine/sugar at all
  • am learning only to eat when actually hungry and am resisting snacking
  • have discovered some amazing recipes and really love eating this way
  • have stayed on track despite a very stressful, difficult week
  • bowel habits Blush have settled down
  • feel in general really amazing physically

And the one negative:

  • I still haven't lost any bloody weight!!! OK, maybe a pound or two, but no whoosh. I want a whoosh so badly it hurts!

Bastard scales Angry

Vent over. Thank you for listening.

I realise I will just have to be patient. It's clearly working, I'll just have to stop weighing myself but it's so hard to resist.

sassandfaff · 16/04/2015 12:39

It's a pain in the arse drama but it will happen.

If anyone was to ask me to describe this woe, I would use the word decadent. Grin

Being a working town northern lass, sometimes when I'm stood in the kitchen cooking while sipping a good bottle of red wine (realised I've hated wine for years because I've stuck with Chardonnay and/or cheap) and cutting off pieces of cheese and/or milano salami and nibbling on own made chilli and garlic olives- I think- who the fuck am I?!

babygiraffe86 · 16/04/2015 12:45

Haha sass thats such a fantastic description,

desperate housewife of the North East here (though I work 40 hours and definitely don't live on Wisteria lane) the cheese and meats and olives certainly make you feel that way.

Breakfast today was 2 cheesestrings (only supposed to have one but they're moreish and i like them)

lunch - tuna mayo salad

snack - almond flakes and walnut pieces

tea tonight - unsure at the minute, dp wants chicken fajhitas so thinking of just having a plate full of fajhita filling topped with guacamole and sour cream.
