The inbetween BC BC for those who didn't do as well as they should on the real BC

SayraT · 06/04/2015 18:41

Ok, some of us (me) didn't do very well on the real actual BC and some others just feel the need to have a little extra push before the next real BC so this is our inbetween BC BC Grin

I'll start, I'm currently 222 lb and want to be 217 lb by the start of the real BC (11th May). I will be recording my food daily to keep on track, I am also going to weigh daily.

Food

B: Flax wrap with butter, coffee with cream
L: M&S salad, ff yog
S: S&V peanuts (none left now so I'll have normal nuts or none at all)
D: Cauli-rice with hot smoked salmon

Yes, im doing the chicken and the salmon ones. But i Don't think aldi do it babs but I know they do mince turkey. Going ti give it a try this time and then ask my local butcher to mince some chicken for another time.

MrsKoala · 15/04/2015 12:33

Thanks Gcal that's really interesting, i'll look at that. I do remember looking at Paleo before but dismissing it as i couldn't live without dairy and DH doesn't eat nuts or coconut and i don't want a life without pulses. I think DS would probably cope well with it tho. It would mean cooking even more separate meals and time is a factor at the moment. But if it helps DS then i will give it a go. He does like his sandwiches tho so i don't know what i'd do him for lunch. hhhmmm

I think i'll persevere LC for me and try to do LC for DH as much as possible. I struggle with packed lunches for him tho (he wont eat just a salad).

It's bloody hard catering for all these people. If it were just me i'd be fine. i like everything. Except raw celery. That's just wrong. Blluuueerck. Grin

babygiraffe86 · 15/04/2015 12:36

Afternoon -

still on the wagon and feeling so proud of myself. never usually stick to things like this but as my shopping method has changed and stuff in the house is different i'm not really tempted.

Have gone through the recipe thread and made a 2 week meal plan from it.

Thanks for this thread ladies, definitely helps knowing there are others at it too Smile

tuna mayo salad with grated cheddar for lunch, breakfast was again ham rolled up with cottage cheese.

tea tonight is freezer veg, king prawns and chicken fried in butter with tarragon cream - yum.

trashcanjunkie · 15/04/2015 12:57

Afternoon ladies. Delighted, as scales down again incrementally this morning. 105.4 Grin

Had curry leftovers for brunch, with a cuppa. Back to the books now, I'm almost demented with it. Dcs returning from their dads this afternoon so that will be lovely.

Romeyroo · 15/04/2015 13:32

AAAAHHHHH, just spoke with XH about necessary matters (we normally communicate by email only and haven't spoken in two years bar at handovers) and it was SO stressful. I am having an anxiety attack and my head is aching. I need to focus as I have limited childcare this week (like now!) and need to get some work done. This is not at all related to BC, I'm sorry.

The necessary matters are sorted (focus on the positive), but conversations with him feel like being steamrollered over. So both extremely stressed, and also sad that I can't cope with him and I couldn't cope with him.

I'm going to make myself a decaf coffee and focus. I didn't have any breakfast so ended up eating dark chocolate at noon - and then have just had an omelette.

Okay, on with the day. KOKO everyone Flowers. I will catch up on thread properly later.

sassandfaff · 15/04/2015 13:43

mrsk I can't see much wrong with combining the two.

If you count all the things that you can eat in both camps;

Meat
Fish
Veg
All the berry fruits

And then add the others, that are either in one or the other;

Dairy
Honey
Sweet potatoes
Dark chocolate

In moderation, I think it would work well.

I would add the occasionally pulses and oats too, if I was more paleo.

I bloody miss my porridge, with honey, sultanas and raisins in. Boo.

sassandfaff · 15/04/2015 13:46

romey Thanks

I know how that feels, unfortunately. Repeat after me.

He is a knob
He is a knob
He is a knob

Say it out loud, to make your breathing normal. Wink

babygiraffe86 · 15/04/2015 13:49

Put todays feeds into MFP just to see if i'm along the right lines,

after tea tonight I should be on approx 83g carbs for the day, still quite high i know so need to still knock a few bits and pieces on the head me thinks.

BabsUnited · 15/04/2015 14:09

Just had a real result with a lunch out - the burgers at this place are excellent and last time I went I had a big burger with brioche bun, chips - all the trimmings.

But today I asked for no bun and no chips, and instead was offered extra salad and a fried egg! with mayo and an oily dressing too. Was really delicious. And two pints of soda water.

Am finding it more, er, difficult to go to the toilet though recently, do I just need to be drinking more water?

Sounds stressful Romeyroo but at least it's over and done now. Just focus on the right here, right now Flowers

Romeyroo · 15/04/2015 15:02

Thank you. sass, you are so right - he makes me think it is me by sheer persistence/steam-rollering, I remember why there is no phone contact now. Babs, right here, right now is good advice - part of the stress is that he started about something in several months I am worried about and it is almost like he knows it will be a source of anxiety to me. It didn't need to come into the conversation; it is just another way to push.

Anyway, no need to think about it at the moment, you are right - breathing it all away. I am going to finish my work and take DS to the park. Happily single here - and choosing what I eat too Grin.

BabsUnited · 15/04/2015 15:33

Any low carb ice cream/lolly options or am I kidding myself!?

SayraT · 15/04/2015 15:39

There is a LC ice cream recipe on the recipe thread and I think someone found actual LC ice cream somewhere.

LexLoofah · 15/04/2015 16:57

babygiraffe another grab and go breakfast option is baked egg muffin cups, sort of like mini crustless quiches, best in a silicone tray as they tend to stick to paper muffin cases:

Fillings could be ham, cooked bacon, sauted mushrooms or courgettes

Put bit of filling in each cup, add some grated cheddar/gruyere/Parmesan

Whisk up eggs with glug of cream and black pepper, my tray is 12 cups so I do 9 eggs

Bake, I think on 400 for about 10-15 minutes, sorry can't find the recipe I used last time and quick searches keep bring up ones with reduced fat cheese and milk! Just bake until they are puffy, golden and set.

They freeze well, you can reheat them but I like them cold

sassandfaff · 15/04/2015 17:06

I could have done with you posting that a week ago lex

I did them for the 1st time last week, and used muffin cases! Was thinking I'd butter them next time, but I think silicone is a better idea. Grin

I fried spring onions, mushrooms and bacon lardons and then added them to 10 eggs to make 12. Feeding 6 of us though, means there's rarely any left overs! Hmm

Gcalgske · 15/04/2015 17:13

Paleo plus dairy is called primal, there are plenty of people who love cheese too (me) Mrsk.

LexLoofah · 15/04/2015 17:37

sass yes I found out the hard way too, there are probably carbs in the paper case that I ended up eating when it wouldn't peel off! Spring onions is a good idea, great for all those leftover odds and ends.

Stressful day here as should find out about reception place allocation later and as we are applying from overseas we are bottom of the pile so hoping there will be no stress eating later. Plus have workmen In the house which I hate, God why can't they just finish then I can scoff my lunch on the sofa while catch up on Poldark?

LaiLoo · 15/04/2015 17:56

I started last Saturday and doing well so far. Im not being too strict though as I just want to eat really healthily but it is more medium carb/paleoish. Koala some people on paleo do eat dairy and believe that it would have been eaten back when. I don't think you have to be too rules orientated to be successful. There appears to be no current thread for medium carb type paleo eating though. Hope its ok to post here. Im losing weight but I will not post what I eat as I would imagine it would not be helpful to those doing strict low carb. :)

babygiraffe86 · 15/04/2015 18:41

Ooo thanks for that lex
I'm a nightmare as much prefer cold breakfast to anything hot so something like that straight out of the fridge would be perfect Smile

HemanOrSheRa · 15/04/2015 19:00

Having a really hungry day today. I don't know why Sad. Maybe I didn't have enough for breakfast. I had a very long and stressful meeting at work today too. Anyway. Meh.

B - 2 soft boiled eggs, asparagus spears with melted butter. Black coffee.

L - Ham, pate, cheese, large salad, celery sticks (for pate), oily dressing and a dill pickle.

D - 2 low carb sausages

TheHappyCamper · 15/04/2015 19:50

I have been following this thread since I started LCHF for the first time 12 days ago. In fact, I have read most MN threads about it! I was a bit too shy to join in (and to be honest, I didn't believe it would work - I thought I'd put on loads of weight!).

Well, after 12 days I have lost 6lbs. I was 9st 2 down to 8st 10 (I'm pretty short). More importantly, I have just got into a pair of jeans I haven't worn since my honeymoon!

My DH keeps looking at me in disbelief when I tell him I've lost another lb. He says "but you keep eating cream and butter and steak!".

For the last 5-10 years I have tried so hard to get rid of the extra 3/4 stone, calorie counting, eating low fat dressings, go-ahead biscuits, low fat spread. I was always hungry! I wish I knew then what I know now. I honestly think I could do this for the rest of my life Smile

So, thanks!. It's very motivating to see others doing this, as in RL I feel like a nutter Wink. Good luck to everyone.

PS. The recipe thread and the bootcamp rules must have taken ages to put together, and are so helpful, so thanks for that too.

Fatstacks · 15/04/2015 20:02

Heman I am now getting 're-dressed so I can go and buy asparagus because of your brekki! Grin

Isn't there a coconut cream/fat/nut choc ice recipe somewhere?
disclaimer it may be a fantasy recipe that I have conjured up in a craving moment

almahart · 15/04/2015 20:11

I'm a bit all over the pace, sort of maintaining and low carbing at the same time. I'll be happy if I stay the same weight til next boot camp. I feel like I want carbs but actually I really don't. I had a pizza last week, sort of following Briffa rules, and though the first half was lovely, the second half was greasy and cold and really not that nice.

Had delicious low carb parmesan chicken and broccoli tonight. Much nicer than anything else I might think I want to eat tbh

HemanOrSheRa · 15/04/2015 20:18

Fatstacks it was delicious, just remember what aspargus does to your wee! I take a multi vitamin every morning that makes my wee bright yellow. That, along with the asparagus made it radioactive this morning Grin. Despite chugging over 1L of water before lunch.

Preminstreltension · 15/04/2015 20:22

Ok started properly today but sort of easing in.

B: Greek yogurt and about 5 walnuts. Cup of tea with splash of milk
L: massive lunch at work from Lebanese takeaway. Grilled chicken, halloumi, salad. All delicious!
D: scrambled eggs with cream and bacon. Coffee with cream

Have eaten a lot but not exactly full lifetime of greed casts a long shadow

Gcalgske · 15/04/2015 20:26

heman I had asparagus last night and the toddler who won't normally let me near a toilet alone wandered in this morning and went 'POOOOOOEEEEEE, mummy wee smelly' and since then I've had the rare pleasure of solo loo breaks today. adds a LOT of asparagus to online shop
