Morning all my lovely campers!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Hopefully the dreaded weeks 3 and 4 are well behind us, and we can now get on with the process of shedding more fat Grin

Here's to another good week, and I hope that the scales were kind to you this morning

Who knew rhubarb was such a versatile ingredient Confused But yes, certainly sounds like lots of fun!

Well this morning, I've shifted down into the 10s for the first time since ye start of December. I am praying to the LC Gods that I won't bounce back up by official WI tomorrow.

I am feeling tons better today, so hoping this cold is finally on its way out. It's been a doozy and I'll sure be glad to see the back of it.

B: BPC
Brunch: eggs and mushrooms in butter, bacon
D: chicken wrapped in parma ham, roast broccoli, leeks in cheese sauce

BestIsWest · 22/02/2015 08:45

Cramp - aargh! I have been woken up with cramp in my calves, feet and ankles every night for the last week. I have upped the salt and I'm drinking plenty. I used to rely on bananas for the potassium but I will have to look for another source. It's driving me mad.

Thumbwitch · 22/02/2015 08:48

I can't even remember what's going on day to day in my own life, let alone catching up with everyone else's at the moment, so this is just SMS:

B - errr, none Blush
L - cold sausage with Boursin in the middle, piece of celery with Boursin spread in the centre; raspberries and blackberries with double cream.
D - fried salmon fillet with mangetout, broccoli and carrot, glass of dry white wine spritzer.
Not enough water - but we went to the circus this morning, which was excellent! No excuse for this afternoon though.

Romeyroo · 22/02/2015 09:00

Chester, fingers crossed for weigh in tomorrow, then!

Food yesterday

B three egg omelette with courgettes
L this was in an Italian restaurant, so probably not going to weigh in till about Wednesday! Chose three gorgeous tapas (prawns and Parma ham; broccoli in Gorgonzola sauce; salmon in spinach cream) but there must have been carbs in there somewhere because carb cravings hit about three hours later.
Rode them out and just had cucumber sticks, with a bit of ham and cheese for evening snack.

Too much coffee as am getting up very early to catch up on work; trying to keep up with the water

StuntNun · 22/02/2015 09:06

Best magnesium is good for muscle cramps. I was taking some every other day when I went very low carb. It's easier to get the other electrolytes from Lo Salt, sea salt and rock salt but magnesium can be tricky to get.

BestIsWest · 22/02/2015 09:21

Thanks Stunt. I will have a look in Tesco later.

almahart · 22/02/2015 09:37

Feeling a bit despondent, I have got back down to where I was on th middle of last week. I am wondering if my portion sizes are too big, but I don't think they are, or I would be starving between meals. Big boozey night out and totm wiped out any progress.

Fatstacks · 22/02/2015 09:46

Alma I'm 1lb up likely all rhubarb I think I need to swap what I'm eating and relying on dairy too much.

My portion sizes are creeping up and the bloody water is the bane of me.

I may have to resort to a little squash to try and improve it Blush

CharlieSierra · 22/02/2015 09:59

Fatstacks Grin

I'm not going to go into detail about my week, I've had a birthday and I may have had a couple of things I wouldn't normally have - we've been out a couple of times and it's my big birthday lunch today. I've weighed myself and look to have STS so it's fine, the trend is definitely down. I need new jeans again (the pile for the charity shop is huge). I saw friends on Friday I hadn't seen for a month and they were very complimentary, but realistically it's going to take a good few months yet and you have to carry on living your life to some extent. I will be über camping next week though. I got a running machine for my birthday because I recognise I need to move more and I decided I am more likely to do it if it's easy to fit in with my life. These threads are fantastic and I am so grateful to BIWI and all for taking the time to help Flowers

Notso · 22/02/2015 10:00

Sorry to hear about still poorly folk and new poorly folk Flowers and Flowers to you Trash

Fatstacks love the sound of the rhubarb fest. I adore rhubarb, I tried to eat some unsweetened stewed the other day but it wasn't good, it made me look like Hmm I might try it again blended with mascarpone.

Hope it stays off chester

Yesterday had mashed swede with cheese and bacon for brunch and steak and salad for dinner.
Today have just eated two microwaved goat cheese baby bels a cup of tea with milk. Was hoping to go out for carvery with my parents which would be my lunch and tea but DD isn't feeling very well so not sure now. Bit concerned as two of her friends have glandular fever.

cymrukernow · 22/02/2015 10:06

My BC lessons so far-

  1. Yoghurt is not my friend - even though I love it- now banished to a couple of times a week.
  2. Eggs every day blocks me upConfused.
3 a bit of light excercise - fast walking, jogging, helps with no.2Smile

Well done for Wink lasting 5 weeks everyone KOKO x

readyforno2 · 22/02/2015 10:11

I'm so bad at keeping up with this thread! Will try to be better next week..

Food yesterday
B - scrambled eggs
L - couple of bits of ham, some cucumber and lettuce. Coleslaw
D - stir fry with pork and some of the low carb noodles. That was the first time I had used them, they have a bit if a different texture, not what I expected but they were ok.
Anyone got any recipes for them?

Probably not enough water, am struggling with water atm.

Notso · 22/02/2015 10:11

WRT portion sizes I've been using serving dishes and eating from a side plate the ones I use for toddler meals (quite big ones though 20cm although some of our dinner plates are 30cm). I don't think I'll ever be able to lose my clear-my-plate mentality though my parents never made me. I can however leave food in the serving dish for another meal. I find it surprising how much less I am eating even though I still feel full.

BIWI · 22/02/2015 11:12

readyforno2 - there's at least one recipe for them on the recipe thread

I had a serious issue with carb creep. So that needs to get sorted and kicked into touch but I am not sure how. Any tips or is it just a case of checking labels and note down what is being eating?

BIWI · 22/02/2015 11:19

So yesterday I really enjoyed my food.

Late breakfast: lined 2 'holes' in a deep muffin tin with pancetta, cracked an egg into each one, seasoned with black pepper, then wrapped the pancetta over the top to enclose the egg, and baked them for 10 mins, then grilled the top to make sure it was crispy.

Dinner: roast chicken; put the chicken on a 'trivet' made out of sliced onion, quartered two lemons, one inside the chicken cavity, the other pushed between the legs and the breast and the wings and the breast. Coated it with olive oil and seasoned it with sea salt, black pepper and dried oregano, then added a small glass of white wine to the roasting tin with about a litre of water. So that when it was roasted the gravy was fabulous. (I served a small amount of the onion as a sort of relish on the side, but threw most of it away).

Served with mashed swede with pancetta; peeled and diced the swede and boiled until it was tender. Drained in a colander. In the same pan, melted a very large chunk of butter and fried half a pack of pancetta (diced) and a finely chopped clove of garlic, along with a good shake of chilli flakes, salt and pepper. When softened, added the swede back in, stirred it around to give it a good coating with the butter and flavourings, and then used a stick blender to puree it.

And baby fennel, par-boiled, then slowly fried in butter until golden, with the juice of half a lemon added towards the end of cooking.

Absolutely gorgeous. (Even if I say so myself Grin)

Bitchy most of your carbs should be coming from veg and salad - what is it you've been eating that means you have to check labels? Where else are your carbs coming from?

OP posts:
BitchyDoesWitchyThings · 22/02/2015 11:44

Blush simply not veg and salad. It is stupid stuff like yoghurt and nuts and stuff like that I think tbh.

BitchyDoesWitchyThings · 22/02/2015 11:47

Mostly I have been eating eggs, cheese and some ham. It has been very bad on the veg front when I was so under the weather. Feeling much better so am aiming for a lovely huge salad for tea. Only just had breakfast. I will have to confess to meal skipping too. I am slipping back to old habits.

BIWI · 22/02/2015 12:23

Nothing wrong with skipping meals - it's called intermittent fasting - but you do have to eat properly when you are eating!

You must make sure that you eat more veg. Otherwise the big stick is coming out ...

best my hubby has an inflammatory condition and needs magnesium plus I always get cramps so we did a bit of research. Magnesium is efficiently absorbed through the skin so a soak in Epsom salts or this stuff is really good. www.hollandandbarrett.com/shop/product/betteryou-magnesium-flakes-60098968?istCompanyId=8b7eb14d-bd9c-4f8a-aec2-4349bbabb5a0&istItemId=irrirmlrp&istBid=tztx&gclid=COSv2pLH9cMCFQMewwodj4gAeA

BestIsWest · 22/02/2015 13:53

Ooh thanks Gcs. Any excuse for a soak in the bath. I didn't make Tesco today. Had to take DS down the Gower for one of his activities and the weather was so horrible I came straight home again(via Costa). I pass Holland and Barratt on the way home from work so will call in tomorrow.

BestIsWest · 22/02/2015 13:54

Gcalgske sorry.

lurkingmurking · 22/02/2015 14:28

I am heading for a STS this week. I haven't been as good this week (way too little planning) and I will now admit to a sneaky pancake on Tuesday!

It's made me realise though that I must NOT cheat as it's just depressing on the scales.

Today:

B: 2 scrambled eggs with ham and a bit of cheddar, BPC (addicted to these)
L/D: Roast chicken with fennel, creamed leeks, grilled courgettes
E: Body Conditioning class

nowitsenough · 22/02/2015 14:38

Full of cold today Sad

Had bacon and eggs for breakfast, pâté wrapped in parma ham followed by natural yogurt with a few frozen raspberries for lunch and dinner will be cold roast pork left over from yesterday with cauliflower and sprouts and lots of butter Smile
