Week 4 - January Low Carb Bootcamp - KOKO!

Morning campers!

You know the drill! Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for your delectation

So week 3 is fairly typically a bit of a bastard. And I'm afraid to have to tell you all that week 4 is sometimes its best friend.

Don't panic if the scales aren't moving, or even if you're seeing a slight increase. This is totally totally normal for this period of time

Keep focused, make sure you're following the rules - particularly eating the fat and drinking the water - and things should get going again shortly.

If you're struggling, post here rather than dive into the biscuit tin!

Good luck everyone

Lunch - shopping comes later so not the best. 2 pcs ham rolleed up with cream cheese and marmite

Notso · 09/02/2015 14:09

Lex we had similar with DS2. I tried a trick I read on facebook and starting waking him up slightly as I went up to bed. Enough so he could talk to me not enough for him to want to get up. It seemed to reset him and he mostly stopped the 4am wakings. He still is up early 5:45-6 mostly but it's so much more bearable than 4.

imustbepatient · 09/02/2015 14:31

Hi all, 1 pound up for me, which is a shame but I am KOKO. I'm just putting it down to it being week 3 and moving on, as I know I have been sticking to it completely.

In fact I've pretty much stayed on BC apart from 2 small glasses of wine on Saturday and a handful of pistachios. And having said that, I was two pounds up quite a lot during the week so at least one of those has gone already!

Well done to everyone, esp for sticking at it.

Mrsstevejones · 09/02/2015 14:54

I am not feeling very hungry today, bit of a headache but i think thats down to no caffeine. Had plenty of water.

B- porks strips fried in oil with mayo and loads of salt
L - Decaf BPC, Green smoothie
D - Will either be asian style Pork cauli fried rice or breast of lamb with swede and greens - not bad diet choices!!

Could murder a coffee however!

sassandfaff · 09/02/2015 14:58

Walking on air.

Just managed a 1hr 20mins bike ride and then a 10k.

I haven't done a 10k post twins/dd3.
Never mind doing one after a big bike ride!

I love my keto adapted body.

It's a machine!!!

lurkingmurking · 09/02/2015 15:00

Whoop whoop go Sass!!

BitchyDoesWitchyThings · 09/02/2015 15:00

Must be a fab feeling sass Grin

LexLoofah · 09/02/2015 15:14

well done sass and everyone else doing exercise, I do absolutely nothing at all. My body is not yet a machine and certainly not built for running even with a sports bra, more like made for sitting in an armchair with a cup of tea and a book. Plus I know it sounds like an excuse but I really don't know how I would find the time. Might do the Briffa 12 minutes a day or whatever when I have more energy.

Notso thanks will try that, do they really not think you are coming to wake them up/sleep with them? We tried lifting her a few times for nighttime nappy dryness but she was very grumpy and just cried so we stopped - sorry this is not very bootcamp related all, it's just that it does make me tired late afternoon and a bit of meat or cheese does not really seem to give me energy well not yet anyway.

MrsKoala · 09/02/2015 15:19

well done Sass. I felt great in the gym at the hotel this weekend. We had tapas and cava for lunch, i stuck to pork skewers, garlic prawns, chicken thighs, olives and some padron peppers. DH had all that AND potatas bravas AND bread. Afterwards i felt full of energy and did an hour in the gym and then a 30 min swim, followed by a lovely sauna and steam. While DH was lethargic in his carb coma and just laid on a lounger.

In the evening we went out for sushi/sashimi as we were still quite full and i had the most delicious tuna carpaccio and some raw fillet steak and various sashimi. DH had that AND sushi AND rice. I woke at 7.30 raring to go, had breakfast of just a sausage, a bit of bacon and 2 tsp egg mayo (options were very limited) while DH had 2 ciabatta rolls. I then felt energised and raring to go and did another hour in the gym/swim while DH lounged about.

Lunch was a dressed crab and salad and mayo (DH had the same but 2 baguette batons). When we got home DH was knackered and went to bed for 2 hours and i slipped into my pre baby jeans :)

Whoop for the low carb exercising machines!

well done sass and mrsk on the exercise - i do keep eyeing 30ds but it doesnt get much further than that. I did consider walking the preschool but DS took an age to get ready - shame as its a lush day here. Really must pull finger out but feeling really tired for some reason.

Supermum0203 · 09/02/2015 16:08

Hi EVA
No clothes are still the same as before....tight...!!!!
Honestly the only good thing is that in normal circumstances eating 3 meals a day I would have put on weight however I haven't lost but I haven't gain either.
Other than that is upsetting. My sister is coming to uk in 3 weeks and she is going to see me in my heaviest and bearing in mind that she is very slim no matter what she eats, I'm not going to feel very confident and comfortable when we go out together...Sad

Notso · 09/02/2015 16:15

Well done sass that's brilliant. I am hoping once I've completed the shred I can run again. My dodgy knee is already improving.

Lex I was really worried about DS thinking that. The first few times I woke him too much and had to lie with him for a bit. I found making sure it was dark helped and just gently moving him in bed pretending to tuck him in, then a kiss and cuddle was enough.
He does get grumpy but I find grumpy is good as he is keen to get back to sleep. It took just over a week of wakings before he stopped.

Pisseslikeahorse · 09/02/2015 16:41

good for you sassandfaff, welcome to the club Grin

almahart · 09/02/2015 16:49

I thought I had posted but obviously not, am 2ib down!!! So total of 9ib since the start of boot camp. Really happy. I am finding it hard to eat enough at meals not to get really hungry. I think I might need more fat

tartiflette · 09/02/2015 16:52

Love your account of your weekend MrsK Smile

tartiflette · 09/02/2015 16:54

Almahart, definitely sounds like you need more fat. I had a hungry weekend when I was staying with a friend and had very limited choices so ended up eating high protein but low fat... Staaaaarving! By Sunday morning I was desperate and my friend found me in the kitchen surreptitiously cutting off and scoffing a generous slice of butter Blush

StuntNun · 09/02/2015 17:01

I can't remember who asked but to make kale crisps but I toss kale in a mix of chilli oil and olive oil or garlic oil and olive oil and season with salt and pepper before baking for 10-15 minutes at 180. They are amazing.

StuntNun · 09/02/2015 17:06

Supermum what were you eating before starting Bootcamp? If you are a longtime dieter then your body may need to 'heal' before it can start letting go of weight. Do you have any underlying health issues such as PCOS or thyroid problems. There are a few things that can make it take slightly longer to become fat adapted and see the full benefits of the WOE.

LexLoofah · 09/02/2015 17:28

mrsk you sound like a new woman Smile

notso Ok will give that a go, tnx

B- using up leftovers to make room in the fridge so 1 chicken drumstick, 1 hb egg, bit of crispy bacon, half avo mashed with hm mayo and a cuppa

L - lamb and feta meatballs (loving cold meatballs, could do a different combo once a week), radish, a tomato, celery, fennel, leaves with a greek yog, shallot, cucumber dressing

D - going to make tukey soup with the last of the Christmas turkey (dark meat) and hm chicken stock with ginger, leeks and maybe broccoli - have some wide shirataki noodles so I might throw them in too

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 09/02/2015 17:29

Very interesting that ibuprofen could be incompatible? Anyone know any more?? I'm on daily naproxen (same family of drugs), so perhaps another thing that could explain my slow loss?

Dinner - chicken and chorizo with shallots, leek dauphinoise, broccoli and cauli

PseudoBadger · 09/02/2015 17:48

Well done everyone Smile

lurkingmurking · 09/02/2015 17:55

Supermum that must be seriously disheartening. Have you listed out a couple of days of meals for BIWI to look at?

tartiflette · 09/02/2015 17:55

Lex how do you do your lamb and feta meatballs?
