Morning campers!

You know the drill! Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for your delectation

So week 3 is fairly typically a bit of a bastard. And I'm afraid to have to tell you all that week 4 is sometimes its best friend.

Don't panic if the scales aren't moving, or even if you're seeing a slight increase. This is totally totally normal for this period of time

Keep focused, make sure you're following the rules - particularly eating the fat and drinking the water - and things should get going again shortly.

If you're struggling, post here rather than dive into the biscuit tin!

Good luck everyone

Aaah, lightbulb moment - from these previous posts I have just worked out what has changed - I have been taking iron the month or so, hence the lack of regularity problem has got slowly worse to no motion at all. (tmi, sorry).

I added it to my supplements because I was tired - although as I am a single parent with two DC and work full-time, maybe that also explains that. I'm actually less tired than when I was carbing; I just need to address my workload which I am doing. But anyway, it will be the iron tablets which have changed things. They will be ditched forthwith.

I didn't make it to H&B to get the chia and flaxseeds, I fell asleep on the sofa with DS Smile - which improved both of our moods, to be honest. I will go tomorrow. I use plain soya yogurt as I am allergic to milk, but that works with seeds for breakfast or similar. I have coconut milk so will try the pudding idea.

tartiflette · 15/02/2015 18:58

MrsSteve I have a hangover today too, it's not pretty. Everything has been a huge effort and I have tons of work to do for the coming week but can only bring myself to lie on the sofa.
I've eaten too much this weekend. Have stayed on plan but just eaten far too much. My issues are so clearly psychological as I am not getting hungry between meals but still pick when stressed or when trying to avoid doing any work. Plus I have this thing whereby once I start eating I just can't make myself stop!

I know I won't have lost tomorrow and that will make a 3 week stall wallows

MrsKoala · 15/02/2015 19:00

i do love them and they are very good with the boys and when dh is away i get lots of help from mum. it's just a their house their roolz type scenario, which i do get for the most part, but sometimes it's quite petty. i'm an only child and they are not used to other people 'making mess' in their house. Dad has serious control ishoos about his space too. i usually just tell him to stop being such a moany old bastard or ignore it.

Mrsstevejones · 15/02/2015 19:02

Ah Mrsk can you not just head home? My sm is like that, you get the look for not immediately, upon finishing your coffee washing up the mug.

I am sorry for how hard your parents are making things, if they cant respect your decisions i would fib and say that the doctor has ordered it. My MIL believes food allergies are made up and that her step grand childrens mother is just being fussy as in her day there wasnt such a thing! I have no idea why she cares what someone else feeds their children and i got the cats bum mouth when i said so!

You seem very tolerant i am not such a great person and i would have a teenager style strop with them by now but then 48hrs at xmas was more than enough for me and we have decided to stay home this year! Parents eh? who`d have em?

Mrsstevejones · 15/02/2015 19:08

Thanks Tart -i hardly ever drink and last night they went down far too quickly and easily. I made good food choices on our lunch date and swerved the chips on the way home. Today has been a struggle trying to be on top form whilst feeling awful. I get all anxious and moody after drinking so i am trying to keep on top of that as well. When will i learn? But i do love getting tipsy.

DrDiva · 15/02/2015 19:19

Oh yes, I sympathise with all those dealing with allergies and intolerances. We get "but it's only an intolerance, a little won't hurt!" I like whoever upthread said that anyone who gives their DS sugar gets to babysit for the next 48 hours while he comes down - I should try that! Yes, it's "only" an intolerance that will have him screaming in pain for literally hours, before the terrible nappies and unbearable nappy rash start...
Means I can't really cook with butter, unless I do separate stuff, which I try not to do. I love butter! Coconut oil has been a mainstay though.
Lunch today was particularly delicious. I needed to use stuff up, so I had mushrooms, prawns and onions cooked in loads of butter as DS had gone down for a nap. We shared coconut flour pancakes for breakfast (DH is away)

I find drinking enough when I am looking after DS really difficult...

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 15/02/2015 19:43

L - unexpectedly out so had the middle of a double cheese burger then some cheese and olives
D - roasted pork belly slices with celeriac and leek mash
S- two pieces of 85% choc

StuntNun · 15/02/2015 20:55

I uses Lakeland Chocolate Melting Pot to melt butter in the microwave for pouring over boiled/steamed/microwaved vegetables for the fattivores in the house. DS1 and DS2 seem to prefer their veggies undrenched in butter weirdos and DS3 is semi-intolerant at the moment so he can have small quantities of dairy but too much upsets his tummy.

BitchyDoesWitchyThings · 15/02/2015 21:25

Stunt ds grew out of his cmp alllergy but 3 years down the line is reacting really badly to milk again. Throwing up, constantly feeling sick and really dippy tum. He is taking it very well and impressed me when he not only checked the ingredients something a family member gave him but also questioned the undisclosed flavours aspect and whether that made it ok for him. He could have it but he has taken it hard that he can't even have marshmallows again as most contain milk. We are playing adapt the recipe here for some of his favourite foods, Which means I am getting lots of mouthfuls of foods that are wheat based and are causing me stomach cramps but short term pain for so much longer gain is how I am dealing with it. Some recipes have worked some have very very much not

Fauxbourdons · 15/02/2015 22:27

I honestly don't know how those of you with kids with complex dietary needs manage to stay on the straight and narrow. RESPECT.

I'm KOKO so far, relatively low-key and trying to focus more on getting used to not feeling so hungry and therefore not eating so much (with mixed success). I have another frittata and another crustless spinach pie in the oven and have also just made up a batch of celeriac mash. I'm hoping that will get me through most of the week, together with the odd salmon fillet and avocado.

I haven't been weighing obsessively as I normally do. Hopefully I can continue with that. I have noticed less joint pain (I have fairly bad arthritis and joint damage). And I saw my mother today and the first thing she said was "Gosh! Your skin looks really glowing!" which was nice.

Successes: making cake for other people TWICE and not eating ANY of it (one banana cake with plain chocolate drizzle, one batch of chocolate and cherry cupcakes). I had a bit of ganache left over from the cupcakes but as it's 70% chocolate and double cream, I figured a small amount wasn't too bad. Time (and the scales) will tell!

Fauxbourdons · 15/02/2015 22:52

Oh, and I meant to say - re iron being constipating - if you take it with high-dose (i.e. 500-1000mg) vitamin C, it's much less so, IME.

I've had the odd Berocca over the last week or two, largely because I'm at the end of the most horrible cold.

LexLoofah · 15/02/2015 22:57

Made Lemon cupcakes with the kids this morning, quite a healthy version using almond meal instead of flour, Greek yog and honey. A quarter cup for 12 cakes so not that much but I expect overall carb count was still high only had one but clearly not back on strict bc as planned. Can see how easily carbs creep up with a little bit here and a little bit there.

DH not keen on eggs so has been a real trooper having the amost every day for 4 weeks so I tried a green smoothie this morning for brekkie. Avo, cucumber, almond butter, coconut milk, spinach, cinnamon. Was pretty good and filling but again more carbs than an egg Brekkie.

Hm burger with cheese and lettuce wraps for lunch

Texas chilli with buttery cauli rice and buttered collards for tea

Gcalgske · 15/02/2015 23:05

Bacon and greens for tea. Fried bacon until crisp. Shredded the greens and fried in the bacon fat. Added 25g unsalted butter and two ladle fulls of a ham stock I've got puttering away in the slow cooker and let it cook down for 10 mins then crumbled over the bacon. Actually delicious!

miffy49 · 16/02/2015 00:51

Bitchy if you have a decent mixer with a stand you could make him marshmallows really easily. I used to put them in small, sealed containers so that they could be rationed out and the others kept fresh. Something to make when the kids are out though as it does involve pouring hot syrup! Just egg whites, sugar and gelatine. No milk involved. I used to adore marshmallows and the packet ones often contain gluten too. Much to sweet for me now, thank goodness. I never knew when to stop!

ijustwanttobeme · 16/02/2015 06:54

Yes, I did it- 2lbs off

Am now in the stone below category. Which I havent been in, for a looong time.

This will reignite the motivation which was lacking over the weekend somewhat. Didn't fall off as such, but kept prowling the kitchen looking for 'stuff'.

Was sated by a tspn of crunchy peanut butter.

BIWI · 16/02/2015 07:18

That's good news, ijustwanttobeme!

Week 5 chat thread

OP posts:
FurFoxAke · 16/02/2015 07:39

Morning all!
I've been very good and not deviated from this woe, just have been busy and knackered.
Actually though, I did have a couple of squares of dark chocolate, the next day I felt bigger again (might be coincidence as my stomach is sore ATM) and felt the urge to be a carby twat quite badly so I have got rid of it.

I can't eat wheat or have a lot of dairy myself, and have always had the 'yeah, whatever, go without it's not our fault you're being fussy. Just a bit wouldn't hurt surely?' type of response. Er yes, actually, it really does hurt.
Like two/three days bed ridden in agony at it's worst.
I do get why if you can't eat something you have to learn to do without, but there's no need to be cruel and not even bother trying to accommodate, ever, even if it isn't as much or as 'nice'( In their opinion anyway).
One of the nicest things anyone has done for me was to make me wheat/gluten free cupcakes, all gorgeous looking like you get in the shops. She didn't even know me, (it was for her daughter's wedding to my bil), but just that small thing made me so happy as an adult, I can imagine how amazing it would feel to be a child and have that and be made to feel included, IySWIM?

Oops, sorry, anyway...back on topic.
No weight lost, feel better, jeans still almost wearable but not quite. although my stomach is feeling a bit sore and bloated today. Grrrr.

Oh, who was it said they can't get some of the stuff? I live in a small town with no lidl or anything, just a shitty tesco, and I can't get most of the stuff people list on here.
They've only just started selling coconut oil, still no celeriac, no swedes, no kale, no ff total yoghurt. For example. No black farmer sausages either, but there is a different brand of gluten free sausages that are basically the same.
So I feel your pain Grin

BIWI · 16/02/2015 07:41

Can you not order online? Tesco/Sainsbury deliver pretty much anywhere these days!

(PS come over to the week 5 chat thread! Link ^^)

Morning, I'm 2lb up but I knew that I would be. I had a weekend completely off plan. I noticed how sweet everything was and how bloated I felt. Back on it today!

Thumbwitch · 16/02/2015 22:54

Also 1lb up Blush but not surprising given the chocolate blow-out I had on Saturday. And it's really re-created the cravings for me - yesterday I was in the supermarket and as I passed the crisps aisle, I had a full-on taste experience of a bag of crinkle-cut cheese and onion crisps - it was really hard not to buy them! But I did resist. (I didn't actually taste any real crisps, it was just a memory but it was a very intense one!)

So back on the hardcore bootcamp for me now, I think. :(

trashcanjunkie · 16/02/2015 23:01

Thumb you're on the wrong thread! Grin

Thumbwitch · 17/02/2015 01:35

Ah rats, thanks Trash! I didn't read up at all, just wanted to post that before I left this morning. :)
