Morning campers!

You know the drill! Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for your delectation

So week 3 is fairly typically a bit of a bastard. And I'm afraid to have to tell you all that week 4 is sometimes its best friend.

Don't panic if the scales aren't moving, or even if you're seeing a slight increase. This is totally totally normal for this period of time

Keep focused, make sure you're following the rules - particularly eating the fat and drinking the water - and things should get going again shortly.

If you're struggling, post here rather than dive into the biscuit tin!

Good luck everyone

Thanks biwi he has vitalite yep the singing sunflowers are still going for sandwiches etc and we use oil etc but he needs more fat in his diet and plain out refuses fatty cuts of meat.

I think what got me most was that mil used to say that he would just have to get used to going without treats when other kids were eating stuff in front of him. No alternative provided, no discussion with other kids about the allergy, no discretion. It was not his choice. It is possible to work around with discretion and alternatives and not be so mean. Ds did spot the horribly unbalanced and meaness of the situation. It is one reason why I was glad when I split with the ex. She really didn't have a clue on allergy front. She is a bit better now thankfully. But it really used to give me the rages. I grew up with allergies and not being allowed stuff but mum always used to have a swap box. We'd give her the stuff we couldn't have and it was swapped for stuff we were allowed. Or she provided an alternative. But I am getting myself cross again Blush

thumb yep I remember that thread. I had to hide it. it made me soooo cross.

Today we both ate sausages and scrambled egg for breakfast. Ds is just tucking into milk free pizza as he is off out to an event that serves pizza as a half time treat for the kids, we have other stuff for him to eat then packed. I have a small packet of ham and some baby bels packed for me. Cauli pizza is about to be rescued for my lunch.

Thumbwitch · 15/02/2015 13:07

Also Bitchy - how is he with nut butters? Not necessarily peanut butter but you can also get almond butter, hazelnut butter, cashew butter and I think even brazilnut butter - would he be ok with those or does he have nut allergy issues as well?

BitchyDoesWitchyThings · 15/02/2015 13:16

Not a nut eater unless it is almonds. He is going to try almond milk for me. really dislikes peanut butter. We do have a cake recipe that is basically marizpan he loves it. Plus to get a chunk of marizpan is pure happiness so that will probably replace chocolate

Gcalgske · 15/02/2015 13:33

Bitchy I give my lg readybrek for breakfast (her allergy is cows milk protein and soya). It's not perfect (may contain risk) but has all the calcium she needs for the day. She was suffering the dreaded 'toddler dioreah' which Drs just wrote off but I did a dietary analysis and figured it was down to lack of fat. So I 'pimp' her readybrek with a tbsp coconut oil and a tbsp ground almonds. Since we've been doing that her bowels are normal. I also make rice pudding with banana and koko and coconut oil which is good. Also the mini moo bars (they have sugar but are vegan and df/sf) are a lifesaver.

Interesting about the KTC - I stopped buying it and switched to the biona cuisine when I needed no coconut flavour because I was told it was degraded by the heating lost the health benefits.

Thumbwitch · 15/02/2015 13:38

Almond butter might work then but it's incredibly drying, I found - works better when mixed with e.g. nutella, if he likes/ can have that?

Gcalgske · 15/02/2015 13:57

Df chocolate with melted marshmallow, raisins and almond butter, makes an amazing crispy cake. Also almond butter in a Chocolate milkshake with chia seeds. Can't remember who's recipe it is but it's the '60 second choco chia shake' it's amazing and I add some almond butter for LO

Gcalgske · 15/02/2015 13:58

Rice crispies too in the crispie cake - doh!

Gcalgske · 15/02/2015 14:01

Just had lunch at carvery. Had roast beef (too much protein but it was lush) with veg and butter.

Romeyroo · 15/02/2015 14:44

Interesting stuff on the allergies - why do people not get it? DS is lactose intolerant - his old nursery used to give him soup every time a meal had dairy, one week he had nothing but soupHmm
His new nursery actually make the effort to give him a proper dairy free alternative, buy him dairy free versions of snacks etc. It is so much better for him to see that accommodating his needs is not a huge issue.

I am in an utterly bad mood today, and not really managing to shift it. I think it is exhaustion and still having lots to do. Going to get my running shoes out this week and see if that helps.

Have given up on natural solutions to the regularity problem and bought some Senna. B was spinach for fibre; lunch was chicken salad and not sure what dinner will be, probably more spinach at this rate.

Romeyroo · 15/02/2015 14:46

Are chia seeds fibre, ditto flaxseeds? I might head out to Holland and Barrat in a bit via the park with DC

Thumbwitch · 15/02/2015 14:48

Just remembered I've been meaning to ask if anyone else is experiencing lower energy levels on this WOE?

I mean, I know my sleep is thoroughly disordered anyway, but I've been so tired! Even when I do get a full night's sleep (usually because I've not had a nap in the day and am shattered enough to go to sleep at the same time as the toddler, which admittedly is 9-9:30pm but still) I'm still knackered the next day and in need of an afternoon kip!

Or is it just me?

miffy49 · 15/02/2015 15:07

I really feel for those of you with small kids with allergies. Its only since I've had gluten/wheat problems that I've realised just how bloody stupid people are. How you protect your kids and educate them must be a nightmare when you haven't even got the support of close family.

I have gone through the most dreadful pain just through the sheer ignorance of people who can't be bothered. I can't even tolerate the 20ppm of gluten allowed by the Coeliac Society so try and get that through the thick skulls of people who don't actually care! If I hear the, "its only a crumb", argument again someone will get a serious punch in the face! I seldom eat outside the house if I can help it. Even at home I have to keep my own butter pot and my own jars of anything that could be open to someone dipping in a knife that had been used for bread. Add to that problems with nightshades (arthritis) and oxalates (VPS) and its easier to stay put or take a picnic.

BIWI · 15/02/2015 15:14

Suspect it could just be you, Thumb ...

Never underestimate the impact that having small children has on your energy levels.

Ah yes, BIWI - it could just be that! Grin

lurkingmurking · 15/02/2015 16:02

Highly recommend this recipe pork carnitas it was delish with avocado and coleslaw!

Gcalgske · 15/02/2015 16:42

Chia and flax have lots of fibre. Chia is very high in calcium too. It's an interesting seed to work with, it gels. The most regular I've ever been on low carb is if I have 10g of whole flax in 30g of frozen raspberries - leave it in the fridge overnight (berries melt/ seeds soften), I'm the morning stir into Greek yoghurt. If I have that for breakfast I have no problems but I'm trying to stop dairy to break my stall. :/

If you like the onken biopot yogurt with the whole grains in, you should try it. Similar texture.

Gcalgske · 15/02/2015 16:45

Thumb I've found that my iron level can get low on this way of eating - despite red meat, green veg etc, if you are v shattered maybe get go to do your bloods to rule it out? X

Gcalgske · 15/02/2015 16:45

Dr not go! Ahhhh!

CharlieSierra · 15/02/2015 16:53

You can do a chia 'pudding' with coconut milk, leave in fridge overnight and eat for breakfast. I like it but the texture isn't everyone's cup of tea.

lurking I love that website, some of my favourite recipes are from there, she is fab.

miffy49 · 15/02/2015 16:53

That solved a problem Lurking. Nice timing! I just got a couple of chunks of pork shoulder out of the freezer to use them up. I intended roasting it but its been in awhile so it needs trimming down and isn't going to be a good shape to use as a joint. I'm not a lover of pork in a casserole but that sounds just the job. Thanks Smile

LexLoofah · 15/02/2015 18:12

I had not fully realized just how insensitive people could be about allergies, particularly in children and how alarmingly irresponsible, a, shocked at what has been disclosed today. Even if I did not agree with a parent on something or fully understand it Iwould at least respect it was their call to make event if it was a preference rather than all out medical necessity.Feel those of you with those issues as life is difficult enough as it is. Sorry mrs k had not realized your family was so intractable and been coverd in previous threads, you have my sympathy.

StuntNun · 15/02/2015 18:47

Bitchy my DS3 is in the process of getting over his CMPI so we use ghee which has less of the protein than butter (which is only about 3% protein iirc). Before that I used olive oil, beef dripping, lard, goose/duck fat or coconut oil depending on what I was cooking i.e. coconut oil for curry, lard for pork chops, goose fat for potatoes (for DS3 not me!) etc.

Mrsstevejones · 15/02/2015 18:52

Today has been a disaster on the food front but a fab day with nephews and family.

I also have a stinking hangover after forgetting that alcohol (lots) and this woe dont really mix well.

It started with one tiny and tasty roastie and then got much worse. I am now starving and feeling sick and tomorrow will have to climb back on the wagon. I wont be weighing tomorrow. Still dont have control so thats one lesson learnt.

MrsKoala · 15/02/2015 18:53

okay, i'm just going to shout now so bear with me

JUST FUCKING LEAVE MY PINT OF WATER ALONE!

aahhh that's better. My parents (dad in particular) are obsessed with tidiness (but NOT cleanliness) and every time i pour myself a glass of water and leave it on the side to sip as i go, i return to find it washed up on the draining board. Dad will even stand there, while i'm pouring it, hovering from foot to foot waiting to empty it and wash it up. Apparently it makes the place look untidy (as did the frying pan while it was cooking my sausages this morning - 'how long are these sausages going to take to cook?' umm why? )

It is seriously hampering my water intake Angry

trashcanjunkie · 15/02/2015 18:56

I'm sure you've covered it already, but why are you there mrsk?
