Dh is cooking dinner now, we're having lamb, mange tout and broccoli.

I got a Hmm what the fuck is that face off him when we bought celeriac earlier. I'm really looking forward to trying it dauphinoise'd.

Notsoskinnyminny · 08/01/2015 17:50

Day 4 for me
B - cheat's poached eggs (line a ramekin with clingfilm, add tsp butter top with egg, grab corners of cf, twist and drop egg into boiling water, simple and means no disgusting pan to clean)
L - bns soup (1/3 a portion because I forgot to stir it halfway through and it exploded all over the work microwave #notsopopular when 12 people all want to use it at the same time Blush) and courgette frittata
D - cheesy mushrooms and not sure what else yet as its only me tonight might have more eggs
E - chased divadog round the garden for 20 mins trying to get her harness on plus an hour walk because her divastrop meant I missed my friend but met a very charming Irish man and his gorgeous chocolate lab and we came back down one of the more remote paths that I don't walk by myself. I know he could've been a psychopathic rapist but the dogs were playing and his accent .... Wink
W - 2l so far for the first time this week

DurhamDurham · 08/01/2015 18:23

Despite on going headache and lethargy I've had a very good day today.

Breakfast, hunk of cheddar
Lunch, chunks of roast chicken, sliced avocado, sliced orange pepper
Dinner huge mound of smoked salmon and scrambled eggs with cream.

I haven't had much veg today but I plan on nibbling my way through a bag of spinach tonight.

PeonyStick · 08/01/2015 18:24

notso mmmm - did he look like the 'diet coke man' Grin ..... They do say the quickest way to a new fab bod is to have a new infatuation.....

Going to try the poached egg thingy - cool !-

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 08/01/2015 18:29

I have a bit of a headache, guessing this is the beginnings of the carb flu that im sure i didnt get last time. Have added mashed swede to dinner, so will stick a shitload of salt in it :) thats right, yes biwi? Halfway through my third litre of water, so dont think its that

Rollergirl1 · 08/01/2015 18:33

Lex: The bag of radishes in my fridge state 1.9g of carbs per 100g so pretty low.

Notsoskinnyminny · 08/01/2015 18:51

Peony he was like an older Gerald Butler crossed with Eric Banner when he gets older in the Time Traveller's Wife with a soft irish lilt .... wonder if he has got the coke man's bod under all those layers Blush

Right time to get off MN and iron some bloody clothes that fit for work tomorrow Grin

mootime · 08/01/2015 19:12

Hi all,
Tricker day today as at home with the DC and dd wanted to bake iced biscuits. I managed to resist, apart from a couple of accidental finger licksGrin.
Breakfast I had an omlette with mushrooms and lardons, chicken and avocado salad for lunch with mayo and I've slow roasted some belly pork and fennel for supper. Might have celeriac with that, or maybe make a coleslaw...
Water count not great today, but can do another litre before bed.

FelixFelix · 08/01/2015 19:34

If I make coleslaw, what do I put in it apart from cabbage?

Also has anyone made their own Mayo?

Just made salmon Thai curry with cauli rice and it's soooo good.

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 08/01/2015 19:42

How on EARTH can my fitness pal be useful. Lots of people talk about it so I joined up and put today's food into it- it came out as 45g carbs! Horrified I worked it out and I've only had 20.
For example, it said the broccoli I had was 15g. A different broccoli choice (still 100g) came out at 3.4
Am I using it wrong or have random people added random nutritional facts?
On a slightly similar note, I really tried to up my fats today but according to mfp only made it to 56%. It's IMO hard to get to 70%

mootime · 08/01/2015 19:54

Felix - the coleslaw I've just made has cabbage, carrot, fennel, celeriac Mayo, mustard chopped herbs and a tiny squeeze of lemon. It's divine... Fab better than all the ww diet food I spent the last year eating and not getting far with...

mootime · 08/01/2015 19:55

Natural, I've taken BIWIs advice and stepped away from the ketosis sticks and MFP

FelixFelix · 08/01/2015 19:59

Mootime that sounds lovely. I'll give it a try.

Natural I find mfp a bit erratic with nutritional values. I have to really be careful which item I choose when I search for something otherwise my chart thing is way off. I like using it though as I can see what I've eaten through the day and it keeps me on track.

TrinityForce · 08/01/2015 20:01

I've had really dry lips for the last few days - I've been drinking 12ish glasses of water each day, but peeing a ton too... Is it possible it's actually from dehydration?

also: I did a beef "pot roast" in the slow cooker, it came out REALLY dry but I could pull it apart with 2 forks. I put it in a curry, used some of the fat and broth from the cooking, some spices and cream. That was dinner last night and lunch today.

I may even make one for dinner tonight Grin
Does anyone have any suggestions for something wet-ish to use the dry beef for? I have sliced some up like medallions and can pull the rest if anyone has ideas

BIWI · 08/01/2015 20:25

Re coleslaw, if you look at the section on ubercamp (the 3 day, dairy-free plan) which is on the spreadsheet, there's a recipe for it there, which is carb-counted. Basically it involves white cabbage, finely shredded, carrot, grated and shallot finely chopped, with a vinaigrette and mayonnaise.

Re your beef, Trinity, how about making a creamy mushroom or blue cheese sauce for it?

BIWI · 08/01/2015 20:26

Or, if you can get hold of some shirataki noodles (which are zero carb) you could make a noodle soup?

BIWI · 08/01/2015 20:28

Shirataki noodles

If you have an Asian supermarket near you, you might be able to get them there. I buy mine from Amazon if I can't get them locally.

They are a very useful store cupboard item for low carbers.

Wombat22 · 08/01/2015 20:36

Felix I make my own mayo. 237mls of mild and light olive oil, 1 egg, half teaspoon of dijon mustard and a squeeze of fresh lemon. Blend it all together with a stick blender. Perfect. (I think it MUST be mild and light oil.)

BIWI · 08/01/2015 20:40

Yes - don't try using extra virgin olive oil, the taste is too strong and it will actually be quite bitter.

Apophenia · 08/01/2015 20:40

Ok, I've felt stuffed all day today. Tried to keep on top of the water intake but I think I'm failing.

B - Spinach scrambled eggs with some cheese

L - Creamy mushroom soup

D - Mozzarella stuffed chicken breast wrapped in bacon with veggies.

All my coffees have been with cream. I've walked for exercise. All good. Grin

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 08/01/2015 20:53

Fancying something puddingy after tea, so went with a little pot of ff greek yoghurt and a spoonful of coconut oil (the plan was to mix it in, but that was unsuccessful! Grin ) That sound okay?

miffy49 · 08/01/2015 21:12

I always make my own mayo with light olive oil and a stick blender. Same method as Wombat. Its yummy and pretty well foolproof.

For anyone using MFP or Fat Secret etc you have to remember that the data base of foods will have been built up from entries posted by other users. I don't want to sound spiteful but you only have to look at some of the postings to realise that many of the members are not really going to be that reliable if asked to write their name let alone copy a label! Its an excellent idea in theory but you can't really take some of the entries as gospel.

I ended up getting a freebie carb counter for my phone that lets you make up a customised favourites list. I get most of my info of labels and just use the counter to keep a rough, running total.

SayraT · 08/01/2015 21:18

I made a wee mistake today and bought some Ryvita Thins (I know, I know) as someone had recommended them elsewhere. They are lowish carb (5.1g per thin) but unfortunately I cannot stop at one Blush This is why I had a problem, I am addicted to carbs.

The rest of the day was ok I think but I need to be more strict, I will be once BC starts officially.

B: Two fried eggs, coffee with cream
L: Two roast chicken thighs, two ryvita thins, a rhubarb fool from Sainsburys (12.4g carbs) I know its not ideal but I was trying it out to see if it would work as an occasional treat
D: Leftover butter chicken with cauli-rice
S: Too many ryvita thins Blush

Can someone give me a kick up the bum and tell me to stop looking for "occasional treats" like the rhubarb fool and things.
