Hey
I'm starting again on 5th Jan, just about to go through recipes and meal plan as for me, when I fail to prepare I prepare to fail!

OP posts:

Totally makes sense to avoid carrots!
Thanks for the clarification Smile

MoJangled · 11/01/2015 21:51

PPPFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Anyone else hear that? The wind coming out of my sails. I was all pumped up to start BC tomorrow morning and I've just seen it's not starting till next week... So jumping in with you here for a week, if I may!

Apophenia · 11/01/2015 21:52

Hi Mo! Smile

BIWI · 11/01/2015 22:00

For anyone that's interested, I've just started a blog about low carbing.

My aim is to blog about everyday, family meals that are low(er) carb.

If you're interested, it's here:

My blog

I haven't quite got the formatting sorted out yet, but hope that someone with more knowledge than I have of Wordpress will be along to help me soon!

MoJangled · 12/01/2015 00:22

Brilliant idea BIWI. I'll be an avid reader.

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 12/01/2015 05:54

Ooh fab biwi, i've just subscribed to it now! :)

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 12/01/2015 06:03

Clotted cream is okay, yes? Theres no extra sugar in it, which i did think to check. Prob should have checked here before buying it, but its rare to see in wales, especially in the winter! Grin

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 12/01/2015 06:04

I've tried googling, but the americans seem confused about what exactly it is! Grin

BIWI · 12/01/2015 07:14

Clotted cream is, as far as I'm aware, perfect for low carbing! But I'll double check ...

BIWI · 12/01/2015 07:22

Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Clotted Cream, per 100g:

Carbs 2.2g
Fat 63.5g

Pretty good!

Apophenia · 12/01/2015 08:40

Carb Flu + back to work = blurgh Envy

mootime · 12/01/2015 09:08

PLEASE HELPHmm.
I've got on the scales this morning and have put back on the weight I'd lost so am exactly the same as last Monday. I've no idea what I'm doing wrong. Perhaps I'm eating too much?
My portion sizes aren't enormous but they aren't small.

What have a done wrong? When I've LC the other times the first week has made a massive difference.

Could it be anything to do with breastfeeding? I'm getting plenty of(maybe too much ??) fat. Not cheating at all.

I'm drinking litres of water, but haven't given up coffee (there isn't enough sleep in my life for me to survive 3 kids and work without coffee..)

Some people post and seem to hardly eat anything, but they are told to eat more proper meals.

Any ideas?? TIA

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 12/01/2015 09:36

No idea sorry mootime. Are you measuring as well as weighing, maybe its that?

B- smoked kippers, scrambled egg, mushrooms. Coffee with cream

Birdinacage · 12/01/2015 09:48

mootime don't panic, weight tends to fluctuate day to day, often about 2lbs but sometimes more and sometimes you can show a gain for no real reason. If this happens, especially if it's overnight and you have been sticking to the rules it's generally water retention and should disappear quite quickly. There are a few reason for gain/stalls that aren't due to cheating, for example women tend to find they can gain a few lbs around their period due to water retention, also lack of sleep can cause weight loss to stall, exercise or injury can also show a false gain due to inflammation and water retention. If none of those things are relevant to you there are a couple of other options open to you, post your food up and we can check it for you to see if there's anything there that may be causing an issue, it is possible to eat too much fat but that's quite difficult to do so not usually the main culprit, dairy can cause difficulties for some people too so try cutting down a bit if you are eating lots of it and see if that helps.

mootime · 12/01/2015 10:01

Thanks Bird, I could be due on, but actually have no idea...
Im also pretty much dairy free so can't be that. I do drink a fair amount of almond milk, but thats almost carb free.

last two days food as below..
Saturday
Breakfast - coffee with almond milk and coconut oil and some left over pork as I was dashing out!
L chorizo tomato and mushroom stew with coddled eggs
D veal escalope with sage and bacon and purple sprouting broccoli and a bit of cheese to test out DS dairy tolerance..

Sunday
B- eggs
L- slow roast lamb with celeriac dauphinois and kale
D- avocado and crab with endive salad.

BIWI · 12/01/2015 13:37

moo - don't panic!

Your meals look OK, although I would say that on Saturday there was a lot of processed meat there.

And how much almond milk are you drinking? A quick look at Sainsbury's website shows that Alpro almond milk can be up to 3g carbs per 100ml (not the sweetened one). Do you know how many carbs you're actually consuming here?

If it's coming up to your period you could be retaining water.

If you're tired and stressed, this can have an impact.

But people's weight does fluctuate quite naturally, so it could just be this that's happening to you.

Do you have much weight to lose?

mootime · 12/01/2015 13:49

Thanks BIWI, I may be overdoing the processed meat. I am partial to bit of salami too.

I'll check my almond milk when I'm back near the fridge but I probably drink half a litre a day, so it could be that.

I'm also tired and stressed most of the time due to 3 children four and under and my own business to run!

I will persevere as I'm enjoying this WOE so much.
Today I've had
B - omelette with chilli, a bit of chorizo and spring onion,
L - curry with left over lamb, coconut milk and spinach
But I've probably had 4 almond milk coffees....

We've got duck and greens for supper. I'll try and find something to snack on other than salami.

I'm also really on it with my water today, so fingers crossed.

mootime · 12/01/2015 13:50

And I have about 3 stone to loose...

prettybird · 12/01/2015 14:16

I started again yesterday more wholeheartedly Wink

By starting this week rather than next, I can have finished full Boot Camp before Burns Night so that I can partake of wine then WineGrin

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 12/01/2015 14:31

L - celery, spring oniin and green peppers, with sour cream. And a pepperami.

Worried im eating too much processed meat. Hopefully, for now that just means that i have an option of something to cut back on

mootime · 12/01/2015 15:23

So as I thought, my almond milk is 0.1g/ 100 so that should be fine!
I've just retread bootcamp rules and I should be drinking nearer to 3 litres of water rather than my 2litres.
I've also just checked with my illicit ketosis strips and I am in ketosis so hopefully it's just a blip (possibly due to exhaustion/ possible pms)
I'll try to stay away from the scales all week and see what happens next Monday.

Apophenia · 12/01/2015 16:29

In serious danger of falling off the wagon here. I'm exhausted and craving rubbish.

Apophenia · 12/01/2015 16:30

I think I haven't been eating enough fat. Sad

mootime · 12/01/2015 17:02

Have you got anything fatty you can snack on? Some cheese maybe?

Wombat22 · 12/01/2015 17:44

Apophenia - don't fall off. What have you got near you that you could eat?
