Hey
I'm starting again on 5th Jan, just about to go through recipes and meal plan as for me, when I fail to prepare I prepare to fail!

OP posts:
Apophenia · 10/01/2015 19:54

Another good day here!

B- BPC. I really can't eat before a run, a BPC is perfect. Sorry BIWI.

L- Omelette with bacon, mushroom and a little cheddar. Some spinach on the side.

D- LowCarb Thai Green Curry. It was amazing and I didn't miss the rice at all. Although I could do cauliflower rice, if I had a cauliflower. Grin

E- Five mile run.

mootime · 10/01/2015 20:26

Good day here too.

Breakfast - coffee with almond milk and coconut oil and some left over pork as I was dashing out!

L chorizo tomato and mushroom stew with coddled eggs

D veal escalope with sage and bacon and purple sprouting broccoli and a bit of cheese to test out DS dairy tolerance..

Not so good with the water intake but just working my way through another litre now.

Feeling really motivated and enjoying this WOE so much.

Is there anything we can have as a pudding type thing? I've been having a bit of coyo but can we have the odd square of dark chocolate???

BIWI · 10/01/2015 20:45

No!

Not in the first two weeks of Bootcamp.

Remember, as well as cutting down on the carbs, we're also trying to break the hold that sweet stuff has over us.

It's really not a good idea.

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 10/01/2015 20:58

D - made the beef, leek and mushroom casserole, with broccoli, as planned. Stuck a squirt of marmite in it, instead of the wine.

Going out for lunch tomorrow. Hopefully to a carvery, so can just skip potatoes and gravy... Will have something small before i go so i'm not ravenous while im waiting

ceedub · 10/01/2015 21:10

Hi all, checking in:

B: two soft boiled eggs peeled and cut in half, with my amazing new discovery - half a teaspoon of lumpfish caviar on each bit!
L: chicken breast with celery and cucumber sticks and a yoghurt and mint dip
D: steak with courgettes sautéed in garlic and chilli on the side

Looking forward to some more liquorice and peppermint tea later.

Off to in-laws for lunch tomorrow. My brother in law is diabetic, which generally means there are some low-carb options available. My main challenge is limiting the amount of sugar their grandmother tries to sneak to them. Makes me livid! And I can't even have a drink to ease the whole experience...

Newbiecrafter · 10/01/2015 22:07

That's again BIWI, and Birdinacage.

Bird, that makes me feel better. I'll try the trying a new thing every so often. My trouble is I get all confuddled with trying new things and am not at all good at adapting recipes, so I'll def be making use of SayraT's list and the recipe thread.

I just haven't felt very hungry for a couple of days but will make sure I eat something for each meal.

Hope you're all having a lovely weekend so far.

Xxx

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 11/01/2015 09:26

B - avacado and ff greek yoghurt, coffee with cream

And finally the scales have gone in the right direction today! Woop! :)

SunshineAndShadows · 11/01/2015 12:12

Ugh! after a really good week I decided to risk a couple of glasses of white wine last night (I know its against the rules!) Woke up this morning with a horrific hangover (does low carb affect alcohol processing?) And succumbed to a slice of fruit cake for breakfast. Not good

Now back on the low carb wagon. Tandoori paneer and quorn fillets with salad for lunch. Away with work for the next week and it should be quite easy to stick to low carbing where I'm headed so planning on a strict week.
Definitely staying off the alcohol!

DurhamDurham · 11/01/2015 13:06

I got my husband to take two pics, one from front and one side view of me in my undies, I will get him to take another one at the beginning of feb. Last time I low carbed I did lose weight but the biggest difference was in bloating and how I looked so I'm keen to keep that in mind. If I don't lose much weight I can console myself that I'm at least looking trimmer.

Notsoskinnyminny · 11/01/2015 15:42

Damn I meant to do that Durham. I weigh and measure on a Sunday and I've lost 3lb and 7.75" but guess who's come on again. I'm supposed to be menopausal but everytime I start LCing I come on - not impressed Grin

StuntNun · 11/01/2015 15:45

Sunshine low carbing turns me into a complete light weight too, in the alcohol sense as well as the scales sense. Wink My go to drink is soda water with a splash of sugar-free squash. Not Bootcamp friendly because of the sweeteners but IMO better than alcohol as it doesn't contain carbs.

Durham remember that the metabolic benefits of a low carb diet are independent of weight loss so as well as looking trimmer you will be healthier. You should feel healthier as well so you will know this Way of Eating is doing you good.

Apophenia · 11/01/2015 15:55

notsoskinny I vaguely remember reading something at the start of my low carb journey that this way of eating can make your periods heavier. It would make sense that it could effect menopausal hormones too?

Apophenia · 11/01/2015 16:27

B- BPC
L- Chicken & Bacon Salad, with spinach and DeLouis Mayo.
D- Sausage, celeriac roasties, mushrooms and.... Gravy. Whoops. Just fancied some!

PeonyStick · 11/01/2015 17:20

notso ... Rats - I forgot about the permaperiod ...... I am
Perimeno myself and the new mirena is a period free joy ! Oh well - will make the most of it while it lasts !

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 11/01/2015 17:55

L/d - (mid afternoon) my dad took us to toby carvery. Was so good, had just meat and veg, then buggered it up and had pudding :(

DDad taking us out is a once in a blue moon opportunity, its not something i'll have to worry about again for a while.

Ah well, back on the wagon i jump. Will have a small something this evening to ensure i stick at three meals a day

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 11/01/2015 17:56

I have come on too! i have a mirena, periods are a rare thing.

Apophenia · 11/01/2015 18:38

what's the best thing for carb flu? I'm very tired and head-achy. Sad

Handsupbabyhandsup · 11/01/2015 19:20

On the list of allowed veg there is two different values for carrots. Why is this?

miffy49 · 11/01/2015 19:26

For carb flu Phinney and Volek recommend more salt. A cup of Oxo or Bovril, or some Marigold Bouillon for the veggies, will work wonders.

When you start low carb you lose your glycogen stores. this takes a whole heap of water with it and some of your sodium stores go with it. that's why you feel rubbish and achy. You need to top them back up. I've heard of some people using rehydration salts but you need to be sure they don't contain any form of sugar. Oxo cubes are a cheaper and safer option.

It usually passes in 24hrs and you feel amazing. Smile

SayraT · 11/01/2015 19:43

Can you show me a screenshot handsup when I checked the carb counts on the latest spreadsheet from the last BC carrots only appear once at 6g/100g.

I am sorry if I don't reply my internet is acting up just now.

SayraT · 11/01/2015 19:43

Or is it from somewhere other than the spreadsheet?

mootime · 11/01/2015 20:21

Thanks BIWI. I knew that really, I was just hoping... Especially as breastfeeding!
Anyway, another good day.
B- eggs
L- slow roast lamb with celeriac dauphinois and kale
D- avocado and crab with endive salad.
All YUM!!!
One week is up tomorrow so proper early weigh in. Fingers crossed it's a positive one...

BIWI · 11/01/2015 20:36

Goodness - I took out the lower carb count for carrots ages ago! Where did you find that list?

Handsupbabyhandsup · 11/01/2015 21:18

Carrot count I found here - www.mumsnet.com/health/diet-and-fitness/low-carb-bootcamp

I haven't checked spreadsheet - was on phone and on holiday - was worried about using to much data!

BIWI · 11/01/2015 21:41

Ah. Sorry Blush

The list I originally created was taken from another website, and because I was c+p, I didn't realise there were two counts for carrots. One is for young and one is for old carrots. Although how you tell the difference between the two I have no idea!

Given that carrots are used to make cake, that is an indication of the sweetness that they can give, therefore I tend to avoid them where possible.
