Good morning, I'm standing in for BIWI this week since she's on her holibobs.

If you're weighing in, here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

and here is the Weight Tracker.

Have a great week everyone.

Who said they got on with making Mayo with a stick blender? Please tell me your secret, epic fail here! Perfect every time in the processor, but I was tempted by a speedy method.

Weight seems to be on the way down so I'm sticking with no dairy except for a bit of cream in my morning coffee. Still yearning for cake!

miffy49 · 27/11/2014 01:50

The only time I've had a problem was when I got some rather small eggs. Just chucked in an extra one and whizzed it and it was fine. I make hollandaise that way too. Yummy with eggs. Smile

Tanukisan · 27/11/2014 07:30

I'm very aware that artificial sweeteners are not ideal, but I will continue to have them for a while - a pragmatic decision based on my own eating history. The list posted above isn't great but it is infinitely better than my previous diet.

I'm considering doing a whole30 in January as the next step. Anyone interested?

Also, can anyone point me to blogs etc on the process of becoming fat adapted? How long it takes, how to recognise when you're there etc?

SarahBeenysBumblingApprentice · 27/11/2014 08:26

interview with Jeff Volek

Tanuk I googled that a about a year ago as I felt that I adapted really slowly and I couldn't find a definitive answer. In the interview in that link, Jeff Volek states "days to weeks". It certainly takes me longer that two weeks to adapt - I tend to be quite tired in the evenings for some time.

ChesterDrawers · 27/11/2014 08:42

Morning everyone,

Sorry I've been a bit quiet this week, hectic at work, hectic at home and feeling a bit under the weather too. Have stuck to food plan though so v pleased.

Can also report a 3lb loss so far this week so mega chuffed with that. Just got to focus on not fucking it up over the weekend now Grin

Just noticed that swedes are on special offer in Aldi this week, 49p each if anyone shares my love for them. I am going to stock up later!

On the subject of artificial sweeteners, I made cream cheese pancakes yesterday and finished them with a tbsp of Splenda mixed with melted butter. Was nice but, oh my days, my poor stomach afterwards would not stop gurgling. Think I'll be giving them a swerve in future.

SarahBeenysBumblingApprentice · 27/11/2014 08:55

Well done Chester, that's a great loss for a week!

That's useful re: swede - I'm really into it grated and mixed with grated cauliflower. But where are all the celeriac?! I love celeriac and I haven't been able to find it for ages. I presume they're not in season Sad

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 27/11/2014 09:09

Sometimes we have to make these choices Tanukisan just keep in mind that it will slow the weight loss so if that is your ultimate goal mine is to eat healthily rather than significant weight loss that would be a side effect iyswim then if weight loss is not going as well as you would like it would be something you would need to consider revising.

ChesterDrawers · 27/11/2014 09:09

They had celeriac in Lidl last week Sarah, if you've got one near you, but I agree they are a bit hard to track down at the minute.

BIWI · 27/11/2014 09:55

Tanukisan - it is, obviously, your prerogative. But I would have to question why? What is it about them that you feel you have to have them?

Have a read of this This is the article about Pepsi Max I mentioned earlier in the thread - it's an interesting read.

Pisseslikeahorse · 27/11/2014 13:35

afternoon all,

Slow 10k this morning and no issues yet from the foot Grin fingers crossed, So nice to get out for a run.

B. BPC
L. 3egg mushroom tuna omelette / half avocado
D. Chicken spinach curry

miffy49 · 27/11/2014 13:39

Thanks for that link SarahB it was interesting. I was re-reading the Phinney and Volek book last week and I also read Ketone Clarity. The consensus certainly seems to be that theres no one-size-fits-all where ketosis is concerned. You have to find your own level of carb/protein and then fill up on fat. His comments regarding going cold turkey with carb reduction make sense though. We get a lot of people joining who want to reduce slowly don't we but going straight to BC certainly makes a lot of sense.

miffy49 · 27/11/2014 13:40

Good news Pisses. You should perk up a bit now.Smile

BeyondTheTreelights · 27/11/2014 14:33

My meals are going well. Not doing so great overall though as i havent been able to stop myself snacking on chocolate while i've been working on a uni assignment. I'm hoping it was a bit of a one off as still not been feeling well (virus thing really knocked me for six :( ) and had to do this work on top of that and needed "something" to get me through it. Urgh, what a crappy excuse! If i find its not a one off, i guess i'll need to address my coping mechanisms!!

NaturalElfYayChristmas · 27/11/2014 16:02

My turn to feel low today, I know I'm still the same and measurements haven't changed. Very disheartened (not in the cheating sense)
Googling other websites/forums and people just seem to drop constantly. I wanted to make a big dent in my loss by my 40th in Feb but feel like it's going to be a slow, slow process.
I miss wine.

BIWI · 27/11/2014 16:17

Don't, ever, compare yourself to other people - that way madness lies! Everybody loses weight differently and at different rates. I can guarantee all those other people you're reading about will also have times when they get despondent about things.

Look at it positively - you haven't gained weight, have you? And, presumably, you're enjoying your food? Do you feel like you're on a diet?

If you miss wine - why not have some this weekend?

NaturalElfYayChristmas · 27/11/2014 16:31

Thanks BIWI, you are right and I'm normally a very positive person. Yes I'm enjoying it, I feel committed and very single minded, haven't felt this way about a woe for nearly 20 years. Haven't gained but just feel like everything on pause. God know how people carry on with a month long stall.
I think it's the dark days ATM Smile

BIWI · 27/11/2014 17:31

It does seem to be the case that weight comes off in 'lumps' - no idea why that is, but a lot of people report this. You just need to make sure that you're not allowing carb creep to happen, and then keep on keeping on.

Tanukisan · 27/11/2014 20:02

Because nothing is guaranteed to send me off the wagon quicker than trying to change too many things at once, and I'm worried that tKing out the diet coke will be the straw that breaks the camel's back and makes me think fuck it.

It's as simple as that, really - I have long previous history of disordered eating, so why risk something that's going so well? Plus I'm happy with the rate of my weight loss. I've lost 20lbs since August.

BIWI · 27/11/2014 20:44

That's great. Well done! Flowers

I understand (now!) where you're coming from. But just bear in mind the possible impact that the sweeteners could have.

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 27/11/2014 23:30

I have just added this to my to make list, but I will be sticking with butter not oil, i happen to like my butter. Just need to figure out my seasoning twists.

prettybird · 28/11/2014 11:54

We've gone very quiet. Hope everyone is drinking their water and keeping up their fat intake.

Which reminds me: I bought some clotted cream a few days ago. I must go and treat myself to a spoonful Wink

Pisseslikeahorse · 28/11/2014 13:08

clotted cream - yum!, thats going on my xmas list. just been looking at food porn pre ordering for Christmas at the Wensleydale Creamery and thinking I'm going to have to learn to relax enough to enjoy it, not beat myself up afterwards. Shock

my order arrived from Threadless and i'm now happy to say I'm a large t-shirt instead of the 2XL at the start of the year. This WOE ROCKS!!!
Just got to get ds2 well enough that he stops giving me snot epaulets.

lots of water, fat and press-ups with:
B. Cream & G Yogurt 200g
L. Courgette tuna 2 egg spinach surprise
D. bolognese-ish & salad

miffy49 · 28/11/2014 14:43

Ohhh, don't tempt me you two!!! I've been super strict uber for two days now. I'm really struggling. I know I'm well into ketosis cos I can really taste it. My BG has dropped waaaay down but the scales remain stuck. Sad I know 2 days is nothing when you've been stuck as long as I have and the BG thing is amazing but I do soooo want some cream or cheese or some yoghurt! Gonna stamp my feet and spit now!

prettybird · 28/11/2014 16:32

Butter is allowed on uber camp - nay, encouraged! Grin

So why not get some nice French butter with salt crystals and some radishes and enjoy slices of each. I remember the French family I once stayed with enjoying this is as a dish.

ChesterDrawers · 28/11/2014 16:36

Ooh clotted cream - yum!

Have had a bit of a dairy day today, after keeping it to a minimum recently. Hoping it won't scupper me. Couldn't face eggs for breakfast again - anyone got any suggestions for alternatives?

B: Greek yog, bit of cream, connamon, ground vanilla, BPC
L: been out all day so just had few chunks of Camembert, big chunk of cheddar, a few olives and a packet of posh pork scratchings. Dairy but a lot bette than the other choice - baguettes or jacket pots!
D: LC sausage, swede mash with butter, roast cauli
