Good morning, I'm standing in for BIWI this week since she's on her holibobs.

If you're weighing in, here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

and here is the Weight Tracker.

Have a great week everyone.

well done pretty that's a great milestone reached!

big commiserations chester

A magnificent 0.4lb off for me this week Sad

I'm really starting to struggle with motivation levels now. I think I've averaged something like 0.3lb a week over the whole bootcamp, I'd lose more with a drastic haircut. Today I had a breakfast meeting and the lovely organisers, knowing I wouldn't eat croissants, provided fruit for me and I just thought, FFS, what is the point, and ate a satsuma. I'm tired of navigating the endless carb avoidance tactics at work and socially, of DS always asking my why I don't like pancakes/sandwiches/pudding, etc, with such miniscule results.

I need to reach out for some help. I must be doing this wrong - although I cant be doing it THAT wrong, surely? people on here are having dark chocolate, flaxseeds, nuts, berries and milk in tea, and still losing - I've never left strict BC (satsuma rebellion notwithstanding) and have effectively stalled for 2 months. every time I've posted eating notes for advice they've been fine. Help, before I self-sabotage, please!

Sorry for the me me me post.

one research question: how many of the successful losers are skipping meals, eg breakfast/lunch?

SarahBeenysBumblingApprentice · 24/11/2014 20:24

Evening everyone.

I've finally plucked up the courage to get on the scales and I'm a pound down from two weeks ago and 4lb down in total this bootcamp. I'm quite happy with this! I seem to have a touch of bronchitis and I'm not running at the moment-hope it bogs off soon, not least because I feel sorry for myself and I'm clinging on to BC by my fingertips. I haven't managed to ditch the cheese and the spectre of Christmas is damaging my motivation. I had cream yesterday and I'm pretty sure that's a staller for me.

Mo I'd have eaten that satsuma too. At least it was "clean" food, not junk. Have you tried tracking your intake to see what your macros are like? I don't do it all the time because that's not the point of bootcamp, but I use it from time to time to see if I'm on track. And even slow weight loss is, well, loss. It's actually a massive achievement to weight less each year, especially if you compare it to the number of people who weight slightly more year on year.

prettybird · 24/11/2014 20:54

MoJangled - are you having plenty of water? I found things improved when I doubled up the water I drank. Every time I go to the loo I have two (and occasionally three) glasses of water.

I do have three meals a day: breakfast (either a couple of eggs or yoghurt with cream and cinnamon), lunch (eggs if I didn't have them for breakfast, or coleslaw and cold meats or avocado and bacon salad) and then supper (meat and buttery/creamy veg).

The other thing I've found helps weight loss is going to bed early and getting a decent night's sleep Confused

BestIsWest · 24/11/2014 21:12

It is disheartening Mobut stick to it. I lost a few pounds the first two weeks and since, nothing. However, I've lost two stones overall this year by bootcamping.

The advice I got was more fat ( you are my eat-more-fat buddy so you already know this), drink more water (I am not good at this and have to keep reminding myself), have a BPC instead of breakfast (hate them so having coffee with cream instead) and cut down on the dairy. No idea if it's working as I've promised Sayra that I won't weigh until the end of this boot camp. I have found that the actual pounds may not come off but inches have (mystified at this).

I don't think you will have done much harm with the satsuma.

BestIsWest · 24/11/2014 21:14

I am making myself go and get a glass of water right now.

CharlieSierra · 24/11/2014 21:32

I've never left strict bc either Mo I feel your frustration. Tbh I've come to the conclusion that as someone who struggles to maintain a healthy weight I can't rely well on my appetite to tell me when I've had enough, so I've been using the über camp suggestions as there is also portion guidance, I've completely ditched all dairy as well, although I love yogurt for breakfast and struggle with eggs. I didn't weigh this morning so don't know yet if my strict week has paid off, but it's hard going when you don't see the lbs coming off isn't it, having given up entire food groups and coped with the inconvenience and having to make virtually everything from scratch. There have been times when I've thought counting calories would be easier and more reliable, I can't deny it, but I'm sticking with it and I hope you do too.

Tanukisan · 24/11/2014 22:35

I'm fairly slack with meal planning, and usually don't post my eating because, frankly, it's embarrassing. But in the interests of science, today I had:

Large strong coffee with cream
FF yogurt with cream
Cucumber sticks and cherry toms with strong cheddar
Potted chicken straight from the jar
Mexican chicken bits
A babybel
Salad with an egg and a slice of ham
Sugar free jelly with cream
Two teas with milk
Diet coke

Dairy free I ain't! Grin Think I get a good amount of fat in, though.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 24/11/2014 22:41

Oh here you are!

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 24/11/2014 23:28

If you can ditch that diet coke it will further aid you in your downwards quest Tanukisan Diet coke really is the work of the devil when you start doing some reading into the chemicals etc that are in it, and its effects on the body. cured my diet coke habit and I could happily get through 2lt of the stuff/day during my worst.

MoJangled · 24/11/2014 23:38

Thank you everyone. My chin is a little bit higher up now as a result of the lovely support on this thread. The mayor of Twatsville can fuck right off, I'm not falling for her carby wiles. Have drunk a big glass of water and will have a second fast boost week with you Best, perhaps with some mega portion-control or IF thrown in.

Bitchy, you mentioned self-sabotage, for me this is exactly the dangerous scenario, when something happens that allows me to start thinking it's pointless. The best armour against it is you guys!

SayraT · 25/11/2014 00:45

Very quick one from me.

The food in Brazil is not like I thought it would be. Everything seems to contain sugar, be rolled in sugar with extra sugar on top!!! Tonight at dinner we had what I thought was custard (ok not BC obviously) and it was condensed milk! Shock The Brazilians were eating bowls of it!

best it is a bloody good job that I am not weighing!

Apart from the food I am having a great time, just been working so far but its been great.

ChesterDrawers · 25/11/2014 07:49

Mo sorry you are down, but glad you are feeling a bit perkier thanks to this thread, I'm certain you lot are the only reason I am still here. I feel your pain re the slow losses while being 100% but yes, do keep your chin up. Maybe prepare yourself a lovely high cal LC meal and tuck in without any guilt to remind yourself why this way is better than any other, even though it's taking you an age to get where you want to be. I'd rather have a juicy steak in a creamy sauce than cook chips in Frylight any day of the week.

I'm 1lb down on yesterday's weight this morning so back in the 10s. Hoping to bloody well stay there this time!

Feel a bit like I am coming down with the lurgy and have a kettlebells class later so hoping I can get through it without too much drama.

Sarya, I'm surprised to hear that about Brazilian food. Isn't it crazy how the world has been overtaken with sugar? It's only when you start of a WOE like this you really see how bad it is.

Pisseslikeahorse · 25/11/2014 08:08

Congratulations prettybird well done. Grin

Tanukisan · 25/11/2014 08:17

Give up diet coke? Shock

We'll be spending Christmas and NY in Japan, so I'm hopeful that I won't fall spectacularly off the wagon in the way I would risk doing if we were here. There will be some carb-based meals but I won't be eating sugar. That's the main killer for me - the sugar. I'm just hopelessly addicted and can't have it.

Pisseslikeahorse · 25/11/2014 08:26

MoJangled - I think Best is on the money, just keep it going Smile

polealltheway · 25/11/2014 09:00

Morning all I have no idea what has gone Wrong but after one week I lost 5lbs and now I have put 3 back on! I have no idea how as I have been sticking with it! So yesterday I had:

B - Greek yogurt full fat with cream and a little of my protein shake for flavor (could this be the problem)

L - 2 peppeami and tomato Heinz soup (was stuck for choice)

S - 1 peparami + yogurt and cream

d - homemade veg soup made with olive oil and butter and cream + bacon joint ready cooked from asda

Am I eating too much?

I'm really disappointed Hmm any tips?

Tanukisan · 25/11/2014 09:02

Isn't Heinz tomato soup absolutely full of sugar?

Tanukisan · 25/11/2014 09:04

Four teaspoons apparently!Shock

RatherBeOnThePiste · 25/11/2014 09:12

One pound gone here, it is nearly two, but I only count them as wholes iyswim.

Just catching up with the thread, but I have a can of heinz tom soup here, the DC like it when they are feeling grotty. A 400g tin contains 27g of carbs so that might be your prob pole?

Catching up with the rest of the thread. Brew

polealltheway · 25/11/2014 09:17

Oh no I am so gutted :( it wasn't a Tin it was from the bakery, if it was a tin I would have checked the back Hmm so pissed off! I was so pleased that I lost the 5lbs in a week, now it's been a week and a half and I have only lost 2 lbs in total! I would have been better off having a sandwich which I would at least have enjoyed!

Any tips to get rid of these pounds quickly before I get demotivated?

polealltheway · 25/11/2014 09:20

Also I feel like my hair smells of bacon all the time Hmm

Tanukisan · 25/11/2014 09:28

Only that it's worth doing some more reading so that you really understand where carbs lurk. Once you've got the hang of it they become much easier to spot!

ChesterDrawers · 25/11/2014 10:07

Pole, also be careful of things like ready cooked bacon joints. They often have hidden sugar in too.

Drink lots of water and stick with it and you'll be fine - it won't be 3lbs of fat, mostly glycogen.

yongnian · 25/11/2014 10:37

MrsHP thanks for your kind offer - this week it's 174. The previous week was 176.
Mo to answer your research question, I'm not skipping meals. I sometimes don't feel like breakfast, but as this is utterly unheard of for me, I still have it. As the weather's gone colder I've also felt a bit more inclined to snack (big snacker previously ) so have - bc style of course.
Appetite has decreased overall tho and I'm not constantly thinking about food and it's comfort properties, despite still really enjoying food, IYSWIM.

yongnian · 25/11/2014 10:41

Ps in other news, I've bitten the bullet and started to add coconut oil to stuff. It's not actually a major hardship as have always cooked with coconut milk and love it...but the oil is a little more hardcore...but having learned of its benefits am keen. Feel like a boot camper grown up now!!
