Week 3 - Pre-Christmas Low Carb Bootcamp - the fork in the road ...

BIWI · 13/10/2014 07:39

Good morning! (not that there's much good about it, from what I can see out of the window ...)

So we're at the end of the first two weeks. Felt like forever, didn't it? Grin

Come and tell us how you got on on the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

... or keep it to yourself on on the Weight Tracker

I hope that you have seen a good loss over these two weeks, because you do need to prepare yourself for the infamous weeks 3 and 4, where it is very, very, very, very common to see weight loss slow, stop or even reverse slightly

IF YOU FIND THIS IS HAPPENING, DON'T PANIC!

Keep calm and Bootcamp on ...

as we might say if we had our own posters Grin Just keep on keeping on, and things will start to move again very soon. However, the rate of loss will now - from here on - be at a more sustainable rate of 1-2lbs per week. (If you have a lot to lose it might be a bit more than this, but please don't expect to see massive losses every week - that way madness lies!)

And now you have a choice.

You can stay on Bootcamp if it suits you (but please promise me that you're getting your carbs from vegetables and salad), or you can move to Bootcamp Light, which means you can introduce a few berries and nuts/seeds, as well as re-introduce alcohol in moderation. Rules for Bootcamp Light are on the spreadsheet (look at the tabs at the bottom)

Or, you can do Bootcamp during the week and Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

Whatever you decide, I hope it goes well for you.

Flowers for all those still with us!

Pisses that is quite amazing. Well done to you. It must be SUCH a great feeling.

Masquerade totally agree about being more efficient in other things once in charge of the eating. So far this week I've sorted out 2 holidays, ordered more school uniform that the kids have needed for ages, meal planned and shopped and actually remembered some birthday cards and posted them on the right days. Motivation central here Smile

Still quite bunged up though……… Blush Think the non-weight loss could be the AF creeping back, I remember last time on BC it all went a bit haywire in that dept - or it might be the carrots that I've just realised I've been eating this week quite unconsciously Angry Doh.

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 14/10/2014 15:48

Grin It is surprising how productive you can be when you are putting off something you should but don't want to do Grin SayraT

I am have a means to an end day. Up to my eyeballs in paperwork, organising, decluttering etc etc.

wombat22 · 14/10/2014 17:11

Great super post SayraT
Pisses Congratulations - fantastic loss (and you Ready Grin

yongnian · 14/10/2014 17:38

Pisses that's amazing! Well done.
Sayra thanks yes she is better now...and re stocking up yes, I usually do as we're so rural but a combo of DH away at work, then returned to sudden horrid illness of DD plus temporarily running out of cash (joys of self employment!) saw us eating the cupboard doors for a min! Restocked now.. ;-)
B: bacon sausage n egg
L: ff yog dbl cream and cinnamon
D: leek n chicken stock soup with Boursin
S: corn thin plus lots butter
E: post-natal DVD (medium level)
W: will be 3 litres by bed

Looking forward to a proper full grocery shop tomorrow and trying some new recipes!!

Notsoskinnyminny · 14/10/2014 18:02

at everyone, couldn't get online yesterday as DH came down with the lurgy and was all needy, not sure what part of bugger off to bed he didn't understand - its a good thing I'm not a nurse Grin He's just announced he might need to take the rest of the week off

Anyway another 1.3lbs off this week but psyching myself up for the wk3 stall because I didn't lose anything wks 3-6 on the January BC

CharlieSierra · 14/10/2014 19:12

Well today is my weigh day and I'm a little disappointed I've only lost 1.1 lb which is less than I'd lost 4 days ago Hmm. I have not cheated even once! So I'm staying on bootcamp and persevering - bit of an issue with 'digestive transit' so hopefully that will be resolved soon.

Today

B - breakfast muffins (ham, mushroom, eggs)
L - cauliflower soup
D - haven't eaten yet but trying a lasagne layered with courgettes and topped with Jamie Oliver's recipe of creme fraiche, a couple of chopped anchovies and cheese. With salad.

BIWI · 14/10/2014 19:49

Not much fat going on there, Charlie

OP posts:
MoJangled · 14/10/2014 19:50

1.3 lb off. Weight is very very grudgingly and slowly buggering off but I'm thrilled because I have bust the magic bastard 70kg floor and the psychological boost of getting into the 60s is immense. And that was despite potatocurrygate and another work-dinner-related problem last night. (I may have to give up work to get away from social pressure to eat carbs)

Not getting on enough to list daily meals but will stick with BC for now, with perhaps the odd glass of wine here and there.

Well done all the megalosers! And well done to us too, the slow and steady microlosers!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 14/10/2014 19:57

Evening :)

CharlieSierra · 14/10/2014 20:16

There was a lot of butter and cream in the soup BIWI, and I used olive oil in the ragu and the topping was full fat. Do you really think not enough?

Lasagne was too wet, even though I salted and drained the courgettes, but the Jamie Oliver topping worked really well.

BIWI · 14/10/2014 20:20

It's one thing to consider Charlie if the weight loss is slow - but obviously hard for me to tell without seeing!

OP posts:
aNoteToFollowSo · 14/10/2014 20:59

Evening all. Shit-shouting time:

B: Chicken leftovers and avo
L: Veges and blue cheese, pine nuts, almonds
D: Egg muffins with cream, mushroom and leeks

Snacks: loads of greek yoghurt and some olives

Delighted to hear about the loss MoJangled, and love having a name for we 'micro losers' . Definitely time to give up work to ensure smooth BCing.

It feels easy but I am starting to weary a little of this food. It may be time for strawberries tomorrow ...

BIWI · 14/10/2014 21:58

Time to start cooking different things then, aNote! Look at the recipe thread for some inspiration

OP posts:
ClashCityRocker · 14/10/2014 22:09

Today's scran:

B- coffee and cream
L - scrambled eggs
T - shepherds pie with swede and cauli mash, brocolli

Water - twelve gallons probably

DH has decided he actually prefers shepherds pie with swede and cauli mash over traditional shepherds pie...which is amazing after all the fuss he kicked up earlier when he realised I wasn't using potatoes!

MoJangled · 14/10/2014 22:56

thanks aNote Grin

Something different: how about stir-fry veggies and chicken with lots of chilli? The clean hot taste of the chilli cuts through really nicely and peps up your taste buds I find, refreshing after lots of oiliness.

I tried blackberries - about 6 wild off a bush - after a couple of strict LC weeks in August/Sept. They were delicious, but I was amazed at how much it affected my blood sugar - huge hunger pangs 2 hours later. Will be interested to hear how folks transitioning to BC lite make out with the berries.

readyforno2 · 15/10/2014 00:41

There seems to be something wrong on the app.. Have just caught up on the mobile site

PISSES, well done Smile it's an amazing feeling. People always look at me in disbelief when I tell them!

I've been pretty good today. Was in your neck of the woods today Sayra, met my florist at the tontine. Had a coffee as ds and the florist tucked into hot choc with cream and marshmallows. Didn't feel too jealous.

No breakfast
L- cod fillet with some spicey sauce 3.5g per 100 and baby sweetcorn
D- ribs with salad and coleslaw ff mayo

Not as much water as usual but very close to the 3l mark I'm sure

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 15/10/2014 06:07

I have decided that with everything hanging over my head I am setting myself up for a fall. I plan to be back on Monday when this should hopefully be lifted off my shoulders.

Good Luck and Keep on bootcamping. May the scales travel downwards for you all!

ChesterDrawers · 15/10/2014 06:20

Scales still stuck fast at 11st 2.2! But I am keeping the faith that this WILL work if I follow the rules.

Sarya I'm not usually a daily weigher, just a bit transfixed by my lack of loss at the minute. It's like a car crash, I can't stop looking!

Has a handful of salted roast almonds yesterday and oh my goodness, were they amazing. I have hidden them in the glovebox of the car to keep them out of sight and hopefully out of mind. Also had a glass of red while watching The Apprentice and was actually satisfied with just one.

Aiming for lots of fat today.

B: pulled pork, avocado, BPC
L: left over cauli pizza, salad, olive oil
D: salmon wrapped in Parma ham, courgette fritters cooked in butter, kale chips

Thinking of trying über camp next week if I'm still stuck but hopefully once AF shows up things will start moving again.

ChesterDrawers · 15/10/2014 06:33

Sarya I just popped on to the spreadsheet to have a look at the über camp menus and something seems to be wrong. The fishy menu is there but not the normal one. There's also a list of all the bootcamp names so it looks like someone has c&p'd over it.

Sorry, definitely wasn't me.

SayraT · 15/10/2014 07:20

Thanks Chester, I will sort it soon.

BIWI · 15/10/2014 07:49

Chester - how many weeks have you been doing this now? And how many weeks have you seen no loss - and I mean absolutely no loss at all?

OP posts:
RatherBeOnThePiste · 15/10/2014 08:22

Morning. Allegedly. Brew

SayraT · 15/10/2014 08:27

Ok, the spreadsheet will take a while to fix, it is only the Ubercamp page that seems to have a problem. Normally I can go to a previous sheet at C&P but for some reason the same thing has happened to all the previous sheets!

I will look out the January camp and see if it is ok on there, I don't understand as the Ubercamp pages were definitely ok on the 5 week camp and the May camp.

Didn't log my food yesterday so here goes (don't think I ate enough in the morning and I was hungry by dinner time).

B: Coffee with cream
L: Roasted cauliflower
D: Pan fried plaice with broccoli (I've also discovered that flat fish are easier to fillet)
S: Frozen berries blitzed up in some cream, makes a sort of ice cream thingy

Todays food (will be out doing things all day so trying to be prepared)

B: Small piece of left over plaice, egg (x2) in a cup, coffee with cream
L: Boiled eggs, cheese
D: Was going to be plaice and broccoli but mum just asked if she could come for tea and I don't have enough for two so will decide later. Maybe courgetti carbonara

ChesterDrawers · 15/10/2014 08:34

BIWI I started back LCing 2 weeks before bootcamp, but was quite very half arsed about it, if I'm honest. So much so that by the time bootcamp started I'd gained about 5lbs Shock. I think I started at 11st 3 on Sept 15, so essentially in five weeks I've lost 0.8lb Sad

I've had no loss at all since last Monday, not a stall as such, but. Loopy annoying. I'm not feeling any slimmer or noticing clothes getting looser either so don't think I'm losing inches.

I'm drinking at least three litres of water, eating lots of fat, getting the vast majority of carbs from allowed veg. The only thing I might be getting wrong is dairy, but I really think I will struggle with this WOE if I have to cut that out.

Any advice apart from 'step away from the Brie' would be much appreciated.

CrabbyTheCrabster · 15/10/2014 11:23

Grin

Pisses that is an awe-inspiring loss. You should be in the Daily Wail posing in your much-too-big trousers. Grin Huge congratulations. Flowers

This is positive about benefits of fat... programme is on telly tonight. I like Michael Mosley stuff.
