Just as a bit of a moral booster, not a stealth boast Blush

On Jan 1st I was 175lb at 5'7" and a size 14/16.

I weighed in this morning at 142lb and have had to buy an entire new wardrobe of size 10. I've even bought bloody bikinis!

During that time I've had a lot of wine, occasional binges, parties, picnics. So life goes on, falling off the wagon happens. BUT I haven't been hungry once, I can demolish steak and cheese, and I feel amazing!

I still have 12lb to go until my ultimate goal, but just wanted to say to all that this WOE works.

gets out pompoms

NeverHadANickname · 13/05/2014 08:10

alley I started my period on Sunday after only finishing my last one earlier in the week. I have the implant so I'm used to going months without one. Very weird, is there an explanation I wonder?

NeverHadANickname · 13/05/2014 08:13

I'm sure if it was a boast that would be fine monkey, that's a great achievement. I'm good at losing weight just not good at keeping it off so hopefully eventually I'll be able to buy all new clothes knowing I'll never need my 'fat' clothes again.

monkeyfacegrace · 13/05/2014 08:13

And its 8.12am and I've just had my first 1.5l of sparkling water. I'm good at water drinking Grin

monkeyfacegrace · 13/05/2014 08:14

never I've sold all my fat clothes. Anything bigger than a size 10 has gone.

I can't afford to get bigger again. I don't want back up clothes. I won't ever need them.

Take the plunge and get rid!

StuntNun · 13/05/2014 08:18

Egg in a cup is a traditional kids' tea here in Northern Ireland so I can't take credit for inventing it but I did popularise it on Bootcamp . My recipe is two eggs, butter, salt and pepper then mash with a fork. But on the subject of eggs my amazing discovery for the day is that you can steam eggs using a bog standard fan vegetable steamer. It's much quicker than boiling as you only have to bring an inch of water to the boil, bung the eggs in and put the lid on. I turned the heat down a bit to stop the pan boiling dry. Nine minutes produced 'boiled' eggs with a little bit of softness still in the centre of the yolk. Yes there's a bit more washing up but so much easier for me when I'm running about getting breakfast for three kids, the dog and the cat as well as my own.

NeverHadANickname · 13/05/2014 08:18

Ooo I got the shivers reading that monkey, that's brave. That's it, I'm doing it! Once something is too big I'm getting rid, no looking back! You might have to remind me of this in a stones time Grin. You can be my inspiration today to finish off my litre of water before I leave for work, that'll be a litre more than yesterday. I have about a third to go.

Anyway, going to get ready for work.

StuntNun · 13/05/2014 08:24

Alley and Never there is oestrogen stored in your fat cells so when you lose weight quickly then extra oestrogen gets released which can cause a few hiccups with your periods. Your body will adapt by decreasing oestrogen production and things will settle down again. The low carb diet is generally good for menstrual health for example reducing period pain and making periods more regular in PCOS sufferers.

NeverHadANickname · 13/05/2014 08:36

Thanks Stunt that makes sense.

1 litre of water down and I'm off to work!

magso · 13/05/2014 08:42

How are people who go out to work managing first the long commute after a pint or two of water (no facilities on my commuter train) and secondly lunch in the canteen? (Fortunately for me I don't work every day). Do you take the water with you to drink along the way?

alleypalley · 13/05/2014 08:58

That's interesting stunt, hope it settles down soon.

Locarblil · 13/05/2014 09:09

Wow, well done monkey. And January wasn't so long ago; 4.5 months. I'm really trying to take a long view on this, so, by mid Sept, if I keep pegging at it I'll be lots slimmer. With previous diets I've always set difficult goals (if I lose 3lb/week I'll loses 2 stone in 10 weeeks) and got fed up when it didn't happen immediately.

B eggs in a bowl, coffee with cream

L - fiekd mushrooms filled w brie & grilled, salad

D - Not sure - have friend coming round so need something which doesn't scream low carb

BIWI · 13/05/2014 09:11

Woo hoo, monkey! Flowers

OhWhatFuckery and Best - list out for me what you've been eating/drinking over the last few days and let's see if we can help.

Lighthousekeeping - whilst a good, cooked/fried breakfast is perfect low carb food, you do have to be careful. Black and white pudding will be out, and you will need to be aware that sausages can often be very high in carbs unless they are a very high meat content. But bacon, eggs, mushrooms and (a small amount) of tomato are all perfect. Just try and load up with those rather than the other bits and pieces.

readyforno2 - that is perfect low carb food! At least you didn't come home and fall face first into the biscuit tin! [flowers[

alleypalley - I had a couple of scary periods when I first started LC-ing. They're still heavier than normal IMO, but shorter and painless.

It's not ideal being a teacher (have had to dash off in lesson breaks a couple of times), but the being 4.5 stone lighter is worth it :)

Fourarmsv2 · 13/05/2014 09:17

Has there been a LC success stories thread? I noticed they have one on the IF/5:2 threads. Might inspire some of the people new to LC-ing?

BIWI · 13/05/2014 09:18

That's a really good idea, Fourarms

Hello!
My period started today, five days early and not preceded by the usual bloating and aches! Even more pleased with my 4Ib loss yesterday, usually my weight is up a couple of pounds.

Yesterday some students gave me a lovely box of handmade chocolates to say thank you. I had ONE.... Wanted to show appreciation and picked a dark chocolate one. Gave some to colleagues and brought the rest home to share with family. May have one more tonight... Think the rest will be gone by then! Was so pleased I could limit myself to one, appreciate it but not gorge.

Today
b fried eggs and mushrooms with a slice of ham
L mackerel pâté with salad
D sausages with buttered cauliflower and broccoli

Oldest at school, youngest on a playmate, off to the 30 day shred! Already I litre of water in.... Will try to have another before midday.

Fourarmsv2 · 13/05/2014 09:52

Thread started for success stories! Look forward to reading about you all :)

teawithlemon · 13/05/2014 09:57

My family celebration weekend and I've weighed in, not as awful as I'd feared with only 1/2 a pound gained, not bad as I had to cook/bake/taste and eat with large groups and couldn't have avoided (without embarrassing comment) eating carby foods.

So that's it, strict LC from today. Looking forward to achieving my weight goal!

lowcarbforthewin · 13/05/2014 10:02

Monkey very pleased to hear how successful this has been for you. Very inspiring

JimmyCorkhill · 13/05/2014 10:20

Planning to read this whole thread sat here with my 3rd glass of water!! Almost 3lbs up Blush but quite pleased as I was on holiday for the first week and had some five carby meals. Plus lots of dairy and lots of red wine. What was interesting was the carby meals were not amazing or a treat at all. Quite pleased to be back on track.

LittleMissDisorganized · 13/05/2014 10:24

Morning all,
Thank you for the waves and smiles and encouragements, yes, in a bit of a dip at the moment, but at least physically feeling better today.
Pseudo I have that version too!! Grin I think it was reading from Sayra that got me into it. It takes longer than scrambling eggs, but eggs can boil whilst I'm doing something else.
Ohwhat that's serious resisting of temptation!! I hope you enjoy your organisation with all you have to eat ready cooked for today.
looking for some reason, "aubergine-shaped" made me smile! Now that's the body type that all these style advisers are missing! - it's mine too
ImSo I think I might be in the same sort of field as you. Really well done for the wedding weekend.

Today's food, now I can eat properly again:
B: yoghurt etc
L: leftover leek and ham gratin
D: sausages, swede with mayo (thumbwitch's idea of swede 'potato' salad) and buttery broccoli

Water - I find it fairly easy tbh - 3.5L

firstchoice · 13/05/2014 10:40

I know I'm a bit late, but CAN I JOIN IN, please???

I am going through a stressful period of change which always makes me eat (and carbs are my choice) so I don't know how well I'll stick to it but

I'D LIKE TO TRY?!!!!!!!!!

My current weight is: 261kg or 18st9lbs.

I have mobility problems so exercise is very hard to achieve but I want to change my WOE for my health's sake.

Please can you add me if I am not too late?
thank you.

I am about to have a late breakfast of buttery scrambled eggs.
I am having tuna mayo salad for lunch.
I am having grilled chops and spinach for tea.
(I am trying to avoid the fruit in the fridge and will give it to the children as soon as they come home from school).

StuntNun · 13/05/2014 10:49

FirstChoice this WOE is ideal for people that can't exercise much since it preserves muscle mass, unlike a low fat diet. If you have a lot of weight to lose then I would recommend trying to add some exercise in, even gentle exercise such as walking. I found that as I lost the weight I started to look a bit saggy and soft and exercise helps pull that in a bit quicker than would happen on its own.
