If you're interested in joining us, sign up here. Bootcamp lasts for 10 weeks, and starts with two strict weeks, before you move on to Bootcamp Light for the remaining 8 weeks.

You aren't allowed to eat:

potatoes
pasta
rice/noodles
bread
sugar
flour

And for the first two weeks you can't eat fruit or drink alcohol

The idea behind Bootcamp is that whilst it should be strict (and therefore, hopefully, work!) that it should also be easy - therefore there is no weighing or counting of anything. Just ten rules that you need to follow.

So if you're interested - put your name down here!

Another reading option is the Idiot Proof Diet and its linked Cookbook by India Knight and Neris Thomas: some differences to the bootcamp way of eating but basically the same principles and its very readable on "this is how it feels" and encouraging too.

Comfyonesie22 · 27/04/2014 11:45

I'd like to join in as well, please! Can I just check this is ok to do while bf (DD is 10 wks), I'm presuming yes as it's not a starvation diet or anything. I need to lose 2 stone of baby weight....I haven't lost any - in fact I weigh 1lb more than the day after she was born Hmm. Nice to meet you all!

BIWI · 27/04/2014 13:47

Yes, it's fine to do Comfy - it's definitely not a starvation diet Grin In fact you will be quite amazed as to how much lovely food you can eat.

Some on previous Bootcamp threads who have been breastfeeding have started with Bootcamp Light rather than Bootcamp - a slightly more relaxed way of low carbing, which allows some fruit (berries) and nuts/seeds.

Ruprekt · 27/04/2014 13:49

Had a smoked mackerel omelette for lunch. Smile

DulcetMoans · 27/04/2014 16:25

Ok, I've been reading and I think I am in. Need to do something to lose this last stone!

It's looking tough to me though, especially snacks as I eat a lot of fruit and nuts. Hoping the boot amp can get me there though, and some good planning!

BIWI · 27/04/2014 16:52

Thing is, Dulcet, one of the great advantages of low carbing is that it suppresses your appetite, so you won't be hungry between meals, and therefore you won't need to snack as much.

And the first two weeks are tough. It's not called Bootcamp for nothing! However, they are also very effective.

StringBeanJean · 27/04/2014 17:58

Can I sign up please? Have been a-lurking on the bootcamp thread and feel ready to take the plunge. This is perfect timing for my hols. The first two weeks scare me slightly though, particularly the low cheese factor. Apols if this has already been posted up-thread but a link to recipes would be much appreciated so I can get as prepared as poss.

Am actually looking forward to this with you all!

BIWI · 27/04/2014 18:04

Bootcamp recipe thread

StringBeanJean · 27/04/2014 18:08

Wow, have just see the spreadsheet! Ignore my request for recipes, I think I'll be fine now Grin

StringBeanJean · 27/04/2014 18:08

Thanks BIWI Grin

DulcetMoans · 27/04/2014 18:32

Well that's good then biwi, if I don't need to snack even better!

Lighthousekeeping · 27/04/2014 18:50

I've just done my shop. I really have to start cracking on with doing some cooking fir work. Does anyone know the best scales to buy? I don't trust my cheap Argos ones.

NationMcKinley · 27/04/2014 19:02

Hellooo! Please can I join? I'm a bit nervous though as I'm a total low carb virgin. I was a size 10 seven years ago but 3 children and a fondness for eating has buggered that right up and I really need to address the issue. Like one of the previous posters, I eat fish but no meat. Thanks BIWI Smile

Yama · 27/04/2014 19:16

Hi folks, I did the January 2013 Bootcamp and then maintained until the Christmas period where I piled a few pounds on.

Anyway, I started my own Bootcamp last Monday which was long overdue.

I have to say, I feel so much better. Even though I was still low-carbing, I feel as though this last week has 're-set' my system.

It's amazing how carb creep can weigh you down.

BrokenToeOuch · 27/04/2014 19:25

This looks great, but way too restrictive for our family. I think they would kick me out if I withdrew bread, pasta and potatoes. Even just one of those might tip dp over the edge!
Good luck though everybody :)

jumpinghoops · 27/04/2014 19:29

Thanks BIWI that's very helpful.

CockBollocks · 27/04/2014 20:22

Can I join but in the wrong week? Didn't realise this thread was here and have started today Sad

Don't want to wait as feeling unusually motivated!!!

HumptyBumpty · 27/04/2014 20:32

Hello, could I join in please? Lurked on the last bootcamp thread and am finally feeling brave enough to sign up. Lost 3 stone following the South Beach diet four years ago but put it all back on while pregnant with DD - she's about to turn one and I currently weigh the same as I did this time a year ago so need to do something about it!

BIWI · 27/04/2014 20:36

BrokenToeOuch - nothing to stop you low carbing whilst cooking for the rest of the family! I do this all the time.

If I'm doing a roast, say, then I have the meet and whatever veg is low carb - leeks, broccoli, cabbage, asparagus, cauliflower, spinach, etc - but just don't have the potatoes. Or if I'm doing spaghetti Bolognese, I have the sauce but without the pasta. I might have it on some finely shredded, boiled cabbage, which makes a surprisingly good replacement for spaghetti. Or have it on its own with lots of Parmesan on the top.

Yama · 27/04/2014 20:42

BrokenToe - dh and I low carb, the kids don't. Actually, our 8 year eats a much lower carb diet than most children. Our 3 year old loves his carbs.

Like BIWI, I just substitute the carb element of a meal with veg:

Cauliflower rice
Shredded cabbage
Salad
Courgette and carrot strips - fried
Turnip chips
Broccoli

Iamfrankieheck · 27/04/2014 20:53

I'd like to join too. I'm so in Grin

SarahBeenysBumblingApprentice · 27/04/2014 20:57

Can I join in again please Grin?

I lost a stone on the last bootcamp and I was mentally ready for a break after that so I've been mainly low carb interspersed with a few mindful treats since then.

I need to get back on the straight and narrow!

pregnantpause · 27/04/2014 21:12

I'm in . Will ease myself in this week for hardcore next week.

I have joined before , and it worked, suited me, but i thought that it caused me stomach pains and issues, after my doctor told me that this was the case as I have no gall bladder I must avoid fat. A year on and continuous stomach issues and weight gain since- I have ibs. Managed stupidly easily by one tablet a day. Bread turns out to be a trigger for said ibsHmm. And my cholesterol after those months following doctors diet is higher than ever. He told me to switch to diet drinks and raised a disbelieving eyebrow when I said I don't drink fizzy drinks anyway. Lost all faith in them tbh, though I suppose they should get credit for their eventual diagnosis of the ibs, they have still failed miserably to help me to lose the weight they say I desperately need to. Sorry for the rant.

I know this woe works, I know it can be hard, but I will be happier for it. Roll on May 5 thGrin

monkeyfacegrace · 27/04/2014 21:30

Grumble moan grumble moan, Im here.

BIWI I only have my smartphone so cant add my weights etc to the spreadsheet. Can I bribe you to do it for me?!

Babs48 · 27/04/2014 21:40
