If you're interested in joining us, sign up here. Bootcamp lasts for 10 weeks, and starts with two strict weeks, before you move on to Bootcamp Light for the remaining 8 weeks.

You aren't allowed to eat:

potatoes
pasta
rice/noodles
bread
sugar
flour

And for the first two weeks you can't eat fruit or drink alcohol

The idea behind Bootcamp is that whilst it should be strict (and therefore, hopefully, work!) that it should also be easy - therefore there is no weighing or counting of anything. Just ten rules that you need to follow.

So if you're interested - put your name down here!

May I join ,please? Just read Babs48 thread and it's inspired me!

OverlookedConfection · 27/04/2014 21:47

Babs, I am so glad to see you here. I am sure you will find the support here which you need. Bootcampers are invariably lovely, supportive and non judgmental. We all have our own ishoos, and try to see others' points of view and help them through

[am a regular bootcamper assuming a new name, in case anyone is wondering. I should say inner gobbler and SMS as a kind of password Smile]

WHy don't you have a read through the rules which BIWI linked to and the recipes to see what lovely grub is coming your way?

Swex · 27/04/2014 21:57

Bleurgh. I'm sadly in. Have a lot of post baby weight to lose.

But I need to ask if ok to do when bf. or if it do a slightly modified one with some dairy and carbs?

Thx

Fannydabbydozey · 27/04/2014 21:57

Can I join? I'm horrified at how big I've got. I lost loads low carbing about 6 years ago. Time to get back there. I'm going to ease in tomorrow though as like the poster above I am feeling motivated.

What did it for me before was doing nightshifts. I found low carbing on them really impossible.

BIWI · 27/04/2014 22:00

Babs Grin Flowers

BIWI · 27/04/2014 22:00

Swex - you should be fine doing low carbing and breastfeeding. You might want to start with Bootcamp Light, though.

BrokenToeOuch · 27/04/2014 22:01

Thanks for the suggestions to get around eating with the family.
However, I try to be quite careful about not eating differently from the DDs who are at impressionable ages, and I can't be arsed to explain to them why I'd be eating different foods to them without making them (not consciously maybe) think they shouldn't be eating potatoes/pasta etc. I don't think low carbing is for me, but it looks brilliant and obviously has great results :)
I have another stone to lose, lost four in the last 18 months just by exercising more and cutting right back on booze, eating a lot cleaner and all the rest of it. But this last stone is going to be tricky!

BIWI · 27/04/2014 22:12

Right, everybody. Tomorrow I'll be posting a long post about what Bootcamp means. If you've done Bootcamp before, apologies if you've heard it all before!

But it's really important that you know what to expect and that you can start planning for it. It might be cheesey, but it's absolutely true when they say 'failing to plan is planning to fail'!

And can I direct you to the spreadsheet The weights here are, obviously, out of date - but the information on the tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet are very worth reading, especially if you're new to low carbing.

If you are a newbie, you really need to expect to have your head blown! Everything that you think is 'true' is about to be challenged.

No more low fat. No more calorie counting. And 'yay' to full fat.

There is no link between eating saturated fat and death from coronary heart disease, despite what you think you have been told. We shall be embracing full fat.

You can enjoy the delights of butter, olive oil, cream and cheese without feeling guilty. Eat the fat on your lamb chops and crunch away on pork crackling.

Oh, and you can and should eat salt too!

The only caveat I shall make here - and it is a really important one - is that if you're on any kind of long term medication for something like high blood pressure, or a thyroid problem - then you really need to talk to your GP before you start to do this.

If you're a diabetic, or pre-diabetic - whilst this WOE (way of eating) can only help you, you need to be prepared for the established world to tell you that this is a dangerous way of eating.

Make sure that you read up on all the resources on the spreadsheet so that you can inform yourself about this WOE, so that you can make decisions for yourself.

But - and this is the most important thing - I am not a doctor. I am not a scientist. I have no medical training, nor am I a nutritionist or a dietician. Everything I post here is based on what I had read and learnt and experienced over the last 10 years. If you have any doubts at all about anything you read on these threads, then please talk to your GP

Count me in. DH has lost 4 stone and is lightest he has been in 15 years due to cutting out the carbs but it has just meant extra bread for me Blush. Doing it a part of a gang will be great.

antimatter · 27/04/2014 22:47

Count me in! I am reading your notes on the spreadsheets.
Thanks for organizing it!

Isabeller · 28/04/2014 00:33

I need to get medical advice first but if I can do it I am in (yikes!)

Swex · 28/04/2014 00:35

Ok then. Sign me up.

alleypalley · 28/04/2014 00:36

Count me in too please. (I've also followed the link from Babs thread).

I had a few very stressful months, and then my comfort eating and drinking became habit. Now I'm sitting on the sofa with my jeans undone because it's more comfy. After throwing away all my size 16 clothes last year I refuse to start buying them again.

spamm · 28/04/2014 01:04

My name is Spamm and I need help. I am in. I look forward to reading about Bootcamp. My problem is I eat too much, my portions are far too generous, but I feel the need to fill a gap which does not really exist.

I have just been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and I need to do something about it. I will be working with my doctor on sorting out my medication and getting help from a Diabetes team, but I need some handholding and cheering on.

Biwi - I have "known" you for years and know you are a cool and clever lady, so I look forward to learning from you. By the way, am based in the USA now, so I will always be on here later than most due to the time difference.

Nobodyputsbabyinthecorne · 28/04/2014 01:17

Right, I'm in too. I'm still carrying the extra 10kg from when DD was born - she's 4.5 now!

I've got a big holiday at the end of the year so have promised myself it will all be gone by then - sooner would be better!

glenthebattleostrich · 28/04/2014 05:52

I watched the last one with interest but think its time I joined in too please!

BIWI · 28/04/2014 07:33

Hello spamm!

If you've just been diagnosed with diabetes, then this way of eating should really help you to get your blood sugars under control. However you may well find that you are given totally contradictory advice by your diabetes team. It would be a really good idea to have a read of lots of the low carb stuff to make sure you know what you're getting into.

Dr Briffa's blog is a good place to start and there's a good post here to illustrate the point I'm trying to make

BIWI · 28/04/2014 07:34

Welcome to everyone else as well! Looks like it's going to be busy in here Grin

RedlipsAndSlippers · 28/04/2014 07:40

I'm nervous but in. My only issue is a tight budget since no one else in the household needs to lose weight, so I'll be buying separate food. Would love to lose a bit extra before return to work!

ada1 · 28/04/2014 08:31

First post ever to say count me in. Just having my first workout today since having my second child. Scarrryyyy Blush

DangerousMouse · 28/04/2014 08:39

Can I join in please? I did bootcamp in Jan 13 and lost loads, I went on holiday happy in a swim suit and didn't have sweaty rubbing thighs! Unfortunatly the holiday was all inclusive and I have been living an all inclusive lifestyle since and have put all the weight back on, maybe a little more as well.

The thing is - it's my wedding at the end of June, we're getting married in Italy and I have the most beautiful dress, it's with the dressmakers at the moment making it larger but I so want them to have to take it in before we go. I'm not sure how much I can lose in 6 weeks, but anything is better than nothing.. Just so pissed off with myself for undoing all the good work, I was really pleased with my figure for the first time in 15 years. Now I feel like shit again.

Sorry for the rambling post!

DangerousMouse · 28/04/2014 08:40

Is there still a wonderful spreadsheet?

RatherBeOnThePiste · 28/04/2014 09:06

Morning :)

SociallyAcceptableCookie · 28/04/2014 09:18

I'm in!

Jesuisunepapillon · 28/04/2014 09:50

I went to a party in Saturday. I was a Carby twat, I had known for a month I was going and that I would allow myself to eat what I wanted. I ate 2 cupcakes and a choc biscuit and some bread and cheese, but you know what, most of it was disgusting. Really, really sweet, made me feel bleugh the next day and the whole time I was eating it I was thinking I'd rather be tucking into something low carb which actually tasted nice. The biscuits were mostly nutella and I thought I'd be in heaven eating them, but they just didn't taste of much.

I also bought a dress in a size 14 (was once 22-24) and it is really a bit too big for me. I am desperate to get to a 12, I've never been a 12 as an adult. I sent a picture of myself in it to my mum and she was nearly in tears. (I have a disability and weight loss is very slow for me and extra challenging)

Trying to think of some nice meals to get me through the next few weeks with fewer cheats. Especially things like avocados and some nice cheeses.
