Morning all!

Hope all who are ailing are swiftly recovered.

And hope all of those who have fallen off the wagon can climb back on with agility and aplomb.

We still have three weeks left, so a chance to get shot of another few of those pesky pounds.

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

and here is the link to the Weight Tracker

Good luck everyone Flowers

Morning all, very excited today because tonight I am trying cauli pizza - the things that get me going nowadays Grin

Resisted the scales this morning. Really need to stop hopping on every five minutes, it's not good for me.

Today's plan:
B: eggs and butter
L: left over doner kebab, tzatziki, salad
D: cauli pizza, topped with hm tom sauce, mushrooms fried in garlic butter, goats cheese and basil

A bit dairy heavy but it's just for one day.

BIWI · 25/02/2014 07:32

Welcome stone and sweetie!

If you have a good rummage through the tabs on the spreadsheet you will find all manner of useful information about Bootcamp and low carbing.

StuntNun · 25/02/2014 07:33

It's not TOTM is it Sayra? The first few months after I started low carbing I had a couple of crisps binges just before my periods and BIWI had to get quite stern with me about it. Wink

The whoosh fairy has visited me at last! Grin Another pound off since yesterday, I said she only ever visits me on Monday nights. I am now the lowest weight I have been since my early 20s! ShockShockShock Onwards and downwards.

According to the Fitter Fitness Calculator my body fat percentage is 25.75% and my scales give it as 25.5% so I assume this is fairly accurate. I was looking at a website yesterday that said you could use your body fat percentage to calculate a reasonable goal for weight loss (my original goal was my weight at age 25 but I have reached that now). The calculation is a bit complicated so I'll spell it out below:

Weight 132 lb x 0.255 body fat gives approximately...
100 lb lean body mass and 32 lb body fat.

Ideal body fat percentage for a woman is 22% therefore...
100 lb lean body mass x 1.22 gives an ideal weight for me of 122 lb.

Obviously this is all very approximate because the body fat percentage calculation is an approximation and this calculation assumes your lean body mass is going to change as you lose weight which it will if you have a lot of weight to lose or if you take up exercise and increase your muscle mass. But it does suggest that my goal of 128 lb wouldn't be enough and I might have to aim a bit lower if I want to lose my jiggly bits.

sweetiepie1979 · 25/02/2014 07:43

Good morning and thank you for the lovely welcome everybody. I'll go back to the beginning now whilst feeding baby and catch up( not breast feeding) looking forward to secind low carb day today.

heliumheart · 25/02/2014 07:44

Bleugh I'm so depressed I'm not losing more weight! I just CANNOT get below a certain number and in fact even when having days where I feel I'm being perfect I seem to weigh more in the morning. Grump.

Off to look up ubercamp.

Also thinking of starting the 7 minute workout thingie which I think somebody linked to yesterday. I downloaded the app... now I just need to do it!

captainmummy · 25/02/2014 08:15

Hi stone and sweetie.

Stone :-
Cheap low carb food

  • Low carb vegetables
  • Low carb milk (ie is almond etc lower carb?)Cheap low-carb food = eggs, cheese, high-fat meat (pork belly slices, chicken thighs, neck of lamb - the more flavourful cuts! low-carb veg - look on the spreadsheet for the carb counter for veg. (Also tends to be the cheaper veg - swede, broc, cauli, celeriac etc) low-carb milk - i think almond and soya milk is lower in carbs, although coffee-with-cream is delicious (and my dessert, most days Blush )
mirpuppet · 25/02/2014 08:27

I am a cautionary tale -- I wnt on holiday and ate normal and have gained back almost everything I lost. It is also TOTM so I will see what next week brings as it is strict bootcamp this week.

I think Strove Tueday is next week and I will be continuing bootcamp through lent -- giving up alcohol and most carbs so 7 more week of bootcamp for me.

MrsHughJarse · 25/02/2014 08:50

stunt ..... I am completely lost ! I am 26% body fat and 161 pounds still

Soooo what would my ideal weight be by your mysterious calculations ..... Don't worry will take it for interest only/ approximate and all that !

GatoradeMeBitch · 25/02/2014 09:14

Between Friday morning when I weighed myself before going away, and this morning, I have gained back 6 pounds of the 16 I lost Sad

I am giving myself today to finish/throw what I brought back, and I'll go shopping later to get back on course tomorrow. I am just about to compose a strict week of meal plans!

LittleMissDisorganized · 25/02/2014 09:25

Gatorade it will come back off again once you get straight back on it. You will crave though.
MPR sorry I had to laugh at sweetie not being pregnant and Shrove Tuesday not being today!

Going to GP this morning, hopefully shall return will antibiotics and have another quiet day. Cravings still bad, but surely partly self inflicted and partly illness induced. Snuffle.

EvaTheOptimist · 25/02/2014 09:42

MrsHugh I need to change my name to EvaTheNerd:

161 x 0.26 = 41.9 therefore you are

119.1 lean body mass and 41.9 body fat

119.1 x 1.22 = 145.5 lb ideal weight

EvaTheOptimist · 25/02/2014 09:43

My question is: how on earth do you know your body fat percentage?

StuntNun · 25/02/2014 09:53

MrsHugh 161 lb x 0.26 = 42 lb fat mass therefore 119 lb lean body mass. So for an 'ideal' 22% body fat would be 119 lb x 1.22 = 145 lb. Are you quite tall?

As I posted earlier it's not a particularly accurate method but I found it useful to give me a better idea of what I might need to aim for.
I have had two c-sections and the wisdom of the Internet tells me I might need to get my body fat percentage pretty low (17%) to get rid of the overhang. But by diet alone that would require me to have my weight in the low 8 stone range which would be underweight for me as I'm 5'6". So that simplifies things for me: I'm going to have to take up more intensive exercise than I'm currently doing in order to build muscle and change my body composition. I've started the shred, found a Pilates class I can get to and I'm hoping to make a deal with DH so I can start swimming again.

StuntNun · 25/02/2014 09:55

Eva I use this body fat calculator and my scales also give me a reading, both of which agree reasonably well.

Seri77 · 25/02/2014 09:59

mirpuppet I'm going to keep going through Lent too. I'm creeping downwards slowly so hope to just keeping going with bootcamp/bootcamp lite until I'm at first goal (to get under 150lbs).

StuntNun · 25/02/2014 10:00

Bear in mind that the 'ideal' weight may not be achievable as it is based on an average and won't take into account body frame, etc. I have a friend who had to have x-rays after a car accident and the radiographer told her she had exceptionally fine bones so her ideal weight would be less than the calculation. On the other hand I have broad shoulders not to mention the wide child-bearing hips, thanks for those mum so my ideal weight will probably be higher than the calculation. Certainly it's taking a lot more effort to lose weight at 132 lb than it did when I was 162 lb and I suspect trying to lose another 10 lb would be next to impossible.

EwanHoozami · 25/02/2014 10:05

you need these bad boys for Shrove Tuesday

Twit · 25/02/2014 10:52

I always wigh more than I should according to the charts etc as although I have a small frame and am 5'4" I have ginormous norks which have always added at least 1/2st (when I was a skinny teen) to over (I think) 1st now.

I haven't laid an eagle for about 3 days. Whilst fairly normal for TO tM to be more erratic I am hoping for a bit of weightoss once it's out. Blush

Have decided to stop threatening the whoosh fairy - maybe she will come to see me then?

I will be back with what I eat for the person (sorry) who was after cheaper ideas, I am no cook and have no money, so boring simple and repetitive, but not too bad for £

CrabbySpringyBottom · 25/02/2014 11:00

3lb gain for the week this morning. Rather better than the 6lb gain yesterday, but still. Arsebiscuits. Hmm

Twit · 25/02/2014 11:06

Ugh, I've just worked out all that and apparently my ideal is 8st9. So two stone to lose.
BUT I'm aiming for 9. This would account for my norks making me heavier. Plus it's slightly less than two stone now. although I would probably be about 10st now had I not mysteriously regained that 1/2 stone
Still bitter about that.

EwanHoozami · 25/02/2014 11:09

Stone a few ideas for LCing on a budget are...

Hovering around the reduced shelves and stocking up on yellow-stickered meat and fish. Also Lidl is great for low carb eating (I swear their buyers must lurk on these threads..)

The cheaper cuts of meat are great for this way of eating because they are usually fattier. Belly pork, chicken thighs, lamb breast, 20% fat mince. Cook 'em slower and they're tastier too.

I'm a bit less strict on avoiding processed meat so meals like corned beef hash (with swede), meatballs, chorizo fritattas etc feature quite a lot. Tinned fish, esp sardines are good.

The amount of eggs we get through I'm seriously thinking about getting a couple of chickens. Do any of you keep them?

Seri77 · 25/02/2014 11:16

Ewan I had some cream cheese to use up so just made the pancake. My first thought was that is was too eggy.

My second thought was that it would taste lovely sprinkled with sugar so the pancake went straight into the food bin. I still have some sugar stashed up high in cupboard in the house for guests and thought of climbing up to get it.

That was close.

HeirToTheIronThrone · 25/02/2014 11:41

Ewan I am convinced that lots of LC-ers live round me because there are only ever one or two pots of the full fat greek yogurt left in my Lidl, but loads of the low fat one. I was behind a woman at the till the other day who had eggs, bacon, ff yogurt and avocado in her shopping - nearly spoke to her til I realised she also had bread... We should get some sort of secret sign - a LC Mumsnet scarf?? - or maybe a Mason-style handshake that we can do when we see others bulk-buying Babybels or taking pork scratchings to the cinema Grin

mirpuppet · 25/02/2014 11:50

Someone asked by PM how much I gained over holiday so I thought I would let the thread know.

I was 160 when I went on holiday and I am 166 today. So 6 pounds. It is also TOTM so I may be retaining water. And I would say it was mostly the alcohol for me. I also did eat carbs but it was tons of margaritas that did the damage.

I'm back on track just got my groceries delivered and now that I'm home and cooking my own food (and not drinking) it will be fine. So don't worry about going on holiday -- as you probably won't drink as much as I did. I was away for 10 days.

On the cost of low carb I don't find it more expensive. I look for yellow stickered meat & fish reduction at the store. I shop at Lidl for yogurt and veg and cheese. (I have bread in my basket as my family still eats bread so no sign of low carb in basket). I also have groceries delivered and my total has gone down as no more wine!
