Here's The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

And The Weight Tracker

By now, if everyone has been following Bootcamp/Bootcamp Light rules properly then we should all be keto-adapted, and should be burning fat. Yippee!!

Hope everyone has a good week.

Oooh Pecans of Doom sound great though. They are going on my shopping list for later.

thereinmadnesslies · 11/02/2014 12:35

Please could someone point me in the direction of the famous berry crumble - it sounds delicious!

WillieWaggledagger · 11/02/2014 12:57

crabby's berry crumble

i'm thinking about doing that for a dinner party - can't decide between this and chocolate mousse (might do both Wink)

BIWI · 11/02/2014 13:17

Kidney beans definitely off limits ...

I think I've missed loads but if I try to catch up I'll just give up, so some good old fashioned shit shouting here.

Feeling really disheartened. Week 4 of no loss. Since I started on the 6th jab I've gone 226, 215, 218, 215, 215. I was ill at the weekend and that combined with feeling utterly shit about the whole thing meant I cheated big style on Sunday for the first time. Potatoes, pudding, cake. You name it, I ate it. Regretted it as I felt like shit, and am back on track now, but I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Help?

MicrochipsAndMemories · 11/02/2014 13:24

How are you all getting your fat into your diet? I am at work at Tue moment and just had my home made chicken soup but i have no energy. Would something fatty give me energy?

MicrochipsAndMemories · 11/02/2014 13:26

I am trying to resist the luxury triple choc cookies which have appeared in the staff room!

WillieWaggledagger · 11/02/2014 13:26

gerry you have lost 11lb in 5 weeks - that is very good!

have you listed out your usual meals before? (not the cheat days obviouslY)

HeirToTheIronThrone · 11/02/2014 13:27

Thanks Ewan - those were my choices, DH wants me to get the potato anyway so he can have it. I also thought I might ask for the tart for pudding then just eat the clotted cream with a spoon Grin

There's a clue in Potatoes, pudding, cake. You name it, I ate it Grin

Weeks 3, 4 and 5 are often weeks where you see little or no loss, even a small gain. Looks to me like what was happening to you - and then you will have sabotaged the whole thing on Sunday.

I'm sorry. It's hard to keep going without any apparent benefit, but that's why last week's chat thread was entitled 'keep on keeping on'

Drink lots of water, get back on track and you should be fine

If you add red wine in cooking what does that do to the carb content?

WillieWaggledagger · 11/02/2014 13:31

microchips yes, fat in the diet helps the hormones that send 'full' signals to the brain, so you feel full, and obviously it gives you energy

the chicken soup sounds very low fat, and if that's the case it won't be very satisfying, what are its ingredients? adding cream and butter would help

i get fat into my diet by cooking in butter, choosing fatty cuts of meat, adding butter to cooked veg, a bit of double cream, lashings of full fat mayonnaise, dressing made with plenty of olive oil, some full fat yoghurt, cheese

cheese is a good quick portable snack for work

how long have you been doing this? it's very common to feel exhausted and like you're walking through treacle a bit tired during the first week or so of switching to a low carb way of eating

prettybird · 11/02/2014 13:31

Yaay! Smile 10stone 7lb - I reached my ambitious objective for this month! SmileSmile

I'm going to set my new month's objective to reach 10stone 3lb - then maybe the following month I can set it to break the 10 stone barrier and the month after that to set new objectives with the scales consistently on a less flattering place in the bathroom Wink

Your diet should be the following proportions:

fat:protein:carbs

Fat gives you energy, it's the number one source of fuel for the body when you cut the carbs right down. What did you have for breakfast this morning? And are you only eating soup? How did you make the soup? Was there a lot of fat in it?

TBH it sounds a bit like you're cutting down calories and fat - which isn't what we're aiming to do.

I think I fancy making the crumble tonight as I am feeling in need of a treat. As I am on my todd, I need to scale down the recipe though, so anyone know how many this will serve?

BIWI · 11/02/2014 13:35

To answer your question though:

  • cook with butter
  • put butter on your veg
  • add mayo where you can (check the carb count first)
  • eat salads with oily dressings
  • buy/cook fattier cuts of meat - e.g. chicken thighs rather than breast (with the skin on!), belly pork rather than pork fillet, etc
  • fry foods rather than grill
  • don't buy/eat anything that is low fat

MicrochipsAndMemories · 11/02/2014 13:37

I was in a rush this morning so just grabbed my soup and nothing else or lunch so going to pop to the shop. Just have no idea what to buy.
I had bacon and eggs for breakfast. It's only today that i've not eaten much but i do think I'm not eating enough fat.
I'm going to sit down at the computer tonight and work out some meal plans.

BIWI · 11/02/2014 13:38

Some cheese would make a good snack, or olives? You could always buy some ham and cream cheese (full fat, obviously!), and roll the meat around the cheese?

having followed this WOE for nearly two years now, i have found that it is very common for several weeks (or months) of bouncing around the same can be followed by a whoosh down, then bouncing around again (maybe with a gain), then another whoosh etc. it's like the body needs a little while to get used to the new weight or something so it takes a breather! someone has said on here before that fat cells often get taken up by water for a while before they release that and you see the whoosh, i don't know about the science behind that but others are better read.

anyway, we are only on week 5, and it is very common for weight loss to look like this on this WOE (this isn't real data, but it demonstrates what i'm talking about) - the trend is your friend is so true

MicrochipsAndMemories · 11/02/2014 13:44

cheese and ham sounds good. thank you.
The chicken soup/broth is made with chicken thighs onion and celery. It's probably the wrong thing to be eating? but it's my favourite food lol.

WillieWaggledagger · 11/02/2014 13:50

no, chicken thighs and celery are fine, maybe check on the amount of onion you use because the carbs can add up with them (shallots or leeks are a good substitute, or just use less onion). and if you love eating it then that's good

the only problem is that it's all low fat, so if you love it can you add butter or cream or otherwise tweak it to increase the fat content, or eat it alongside some cheese or something else fatty?

WillieWaggledagger · 11/02/2014 13:51

that said, chicken thighs are better than breast as they do have more fat, but overall chicken is a lean meat

PseudoBadger · 11/02/2014 13:53

Thanks for the pecan recipe Lovecat :o

I'm just waiting for my celeriac gratin to bake and have had some sliced chicken with mayo in lettuce leaves to tide me over.

Breakfast was sausage, bacon and egg (using up weekend leftovers)
Dinner will be bolognese with courgetti

I'm looking at the m and s valentines deal and wondering if there's anything I could eat off it? www.marksandspencer.com/Delicious-Offers-Offers-In-Store-Food-In-Store-Food-Wine/b/198933031

WillieWaggledagger · 11/02/2014 14:23

lighthouse they don't give much detail do they? i think you would be ok with:

from the starters menu:
Antipasti
Scallops & Shallot Butter*

mains:
Rump Steak with Peppercorn Sauce
2 Whole Seabass with Coriander & Red Chilli Butter
Chicken & Parma Ham
Steak (not sure how this is different from the rump steak??)

side dishes:
Garlic Mushrooms (provided they aren't breaded)
Cherry Tomato & Mozzarella Bake (careful with the cherry tomatoes, also might be breaded?)
Broccoli, Carrots, Courgettes & Fine Beans (easy on the carrots)
Mediterranean Vegetables for Roasting (depends what this includes...)

desserts:
cheese board
