Here's The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

And The Weight Tracker

By now, if everyone has been following Bootcamp/Bootcamp Light rules properly then we should all be keto-adapted, and should be burning fat. Yippee!!

Hope everyone has a good week.

Morning

I STS today as well. DOn't feel thinner - in fact feel a bit bloated. Oh dear. Never mind, Water water water.

Tuesday night is cauliflower cheese night here. Yum.

Hope you are well. Off to work now. Brrr, its cold

Southsearocks · 11/02/2014 07:05

I'm not losing. This always happens. I will try harder this week although it's DS's third birthday tomorrow and we've got friends down at the weekend.

I need a loss or I'm going to lose will power Sad (this is SMS btw so don't feel too sorry for me Grin)

ChesterDrawers · 11/02/2014 07:21

Crabby, would love a look at your choc tart recipe, sounds lovely.

Coo-eee Nell

TOTM arrived this morning and I am 1.5lbs up. No pmt or cravings yet though so happy with that. DS temp back to normal today and we both slept so he is off to nursery and I am going to work without the need for caffeine rocket fuel for a change!

Plan is:
B: eggs and butter
L: peri peri chicken salad with olive oil
D: not sure

Lookslikerain · 11/02/2014 07:38

Morning all. Forgot to weigh yesterday. Congrats to the losers, commiserations to the rest. Thanks

I STS again, but I'm ok with that. I've only lost 2lbs since the start but I'm feeling like I've got the carb cravings more under control now, so it's time to look at my portion sizes. Although I still find it amazing that I've eaten like a horse for 4 weeks and not put any weight on. No other "diet" would let you do that!

To whoever mentioned hazelnut butter last week. You are a bad bad person Wink, and yes, it is like crack. It's like eating the inside if a ferrero rocher. Mmm. Grin

And inspired by discussion on Waitrose, I now have pig cheeks in the fridge. No idea what to do with them though...

SayraT · 11/02/2014 07:54

Sarah I think I've missed the pecans too

Eva I think I am going to try some of your veggie suggestions, they sound good Smile I think I'm going to try the spinach and feta bake....I might even have all the ingredients in the house.

Crabby Hope you are feeling a bit happier, is your DD having fun in NZ? I worked over there for a year and would love to go back. Thank goodness for Skype...at least you can keep in touch easily.

MrsHugh feeling thinner is good! I feel thinner too and my mum commented that I'd lost weight Grin I always know that she will notice....on the downside she also notices (and comments) if I put weight on [hmmm]. Good luck for the gym, you're braver than me!

Myprecious and Sybil Hope the bloated feeling goes soon, not a nice feeling.

Southsea have you tried measuring? Maybe you've lost inches, a few people have reported inch loss instead of weight loss. I know I've lost inches, I can do up a pair of jeans I've not been able to do up for months it doesn't look pretty though!

Drank a pint of water when I got up yesterday so delayed weigh-in until today....2 lb off Grin.

Very happy as I was out on Saturday night with friends and had a curry, thankfully there was a buffet option but starters were brought to the table so I did have some pakora but mostly ate the garlicky mushrooms and chicken chaat which was lovely. Then I had a try of all the curries, one piece of naan and was too full for pudding. Tried to be extra low-carb on Sunday (can't remember what I ate though) and drank gallons of water.

Well done to all the losers, keep on keeping on to all that STS and anyone who gained.

And LittleMiss I meant to say of course you fit in here, we are all low-carbers and that's all we need to fit in, look at how many people have told you not to go.....if anyone shouldn't be here (on Mumsnet) its me. I have no children and have no intention of having any, I don't like gin but I don't care I'm staying Grin

And, to any lurkers out there, you are all welcome too, come and join us if you want, we are lovely Grin

Getting a bit emotional here, I better go to work!

mirpuppet · 11/02/2014 08:00

I also STS. Going with trend is friend & drinking more water.

monkeyfacegrace · 11/02/2014 09:03

Urgh. Bottle of red and a huge box ofM&S chocolates last night have made me feel yucky.
Still the same on the scales this morning though, so whatever.

Im now 158lb, was 175lb on Jan 1st.

CalamityKate · 11/02/2014 09:23

STFS :(

Now drinking my first BPC. Hmm. Mmm. Very creamy and slightly coconutty. Actually ended up with 3/4 of a cup after making the mistake of putting the stick blender directly into the cup whereby much of the BPC jumped out of the cup and frothed all over the work top.

Feel like I've eaten breakfast now which is surprising because I woke up quite hungry. Interesting to see how long it fills me up for.

I think my big weakness is eating when I'm not hungry enough, just because it's a mealtime. I think I fear getting too hungry and then overeating. Or else I need to drastically cut portions. I was halfway through a salad last night, accompanied by hot chicken fried in butter with cream, garlic and Parmesan, avocado and mayo and technically I could have stopped but it was too nice to stop! I could probably get by on 2 meals a day but the food is just too bloody nice!

Thumbwitch · 11/02/2014 09:30

Given my cock-up with the chickens/hormones thing, I'll completely understand if you want to ignore this suggestion BUT I'll make it anyway. One of the things that changed my life and gut health was reading the blood group diet book, Eat Right 4 Your Type. Some of the science in it is completely bosky, but I found that removing the foods that were suggested to be bad for me as a Type B got rid of my IBS and acid reflux, my post-prandial fatigue etc. Honestly made my life a huge amount better!

Anyway - my point. As a type B, dairy is fine in my diet; but my group is pretty much the only one who can tolerate it in any large quantity. Group AB can take some dairy, but groups O and A should avoid. Sooooooo - just wondering (again!) if those of you who stall when consuming dairy are groups A or O? And if you know your blood group, and it IS A or O, whether you might get on better without dairy.

Just a thought - feel free to scoff/ignore - but please don't be rude about my choice to live by this, because it has made the world of difference to me. (Also I know a lady who was group A who could NOT lose the last 2 stone she needed to until she switched to foods suitable for her blood group, and they fell off.)

I'm not advocating everyone goes out and tries it, by the way! Just it might help with the dairy thing. :)

spookySwitched · 11/02/2014 09:44

Ive sts too, despite the scales showing a 3 lb loss on friday, I managed to find those 3 pounds by drinking way, way to much at my friends house on saturday.

Im pretty disappointed in myself this bootcamp, ive only lost a few pounds in total. Im good all week, then go out with my (new) boyfriend on a saturday, usually for dinner and drinks. I always try and have the low carb option, so it must be the alcohol.

Im going to have to quit boozing.

seriouslion · 11/02/2014 10:12

I have been doing this since the week before the start but not really posting. I have been reading every day and it really really helps so thank you everyone! The support and ideas are amazing.

I am feeling so much better, sleeping better, better skin etc etc. But I am starting to wobble about not losing much on the scales. I've read all the responses to others about drinking more water etc and I haven't cheated AT ALL. The only thing I have had is a handful of blueberries on my yoghurt at breakfast last week, which I have stopped now and 2 squares of 85% choc this past weekend. Nothing else, but this week I've put on weight which is frustrating and overall my loss isn't that amazing.

This is the beginning of week 6 for me, shouldn't I see more improvement by now? Or do I need to get serious about exercising? How much exercise is everyone else doing?

A few weeks back, someone posted something that has stuck in my head, 'what's the alternative?' and its so true! So even though I'm feeling glum about it, my mantra has become 'what's the alternative?' because frankly I'm not going to lose weight any other way! And at least I like all the other side effects of eating like this I suppose.

That was a bit long sorry! Just needed to get it off my chest...

RoaringForties · 11/02/2014 10:31

Morning, an infrequent poster but frequent lurker here too.

I have lost 3.8lbs which feels s.l.o.w to me. Last year on bootcamp I lost 15lbs at a lovely rate. However don't despair seriouslion have you weighted yourself? I ask as I did this morning and have lost 1 and a half inches off each thigh and an inch each off waist and hips and it has really cheered me up a lot.

I was very upset to realise that the lovely cabbage I had been eating with cream and butter was a whooping 5gShock didn't even think to check. Might have to stop my veg box as full of onions, carrots cabbage and parsnips... wondering if I can just ask for a swede box!

I think it is harder at this time of the year I yearn stodgy comfort food in the cold weather whereas in the summer it's all yahoo gorgeous greek salads agogo.

A massive thank you to crabby therefore for the berry almond crumble. I made this for afters on Sunday, the boys got custard with theirs and i had double cream and it was a smash hit winner all round. It has given me that lovely crumble pudding that I was missing.

StuntNun · 11/02/2014 10:33

Sorry Spooky but the blood type diet is complete snake oil, it has been thoroughly debunked. It's great that the advice helped you but it is by chance rather than because there's anything to the diet. A lot of the suggestions in it are sensible for cutting out foods that commonly cause intolerances but there isn any relationship to blood type.

Serious and other STS please make sure you are measuring. I haven't been losing as hoped but I have lost 2cm off my waist. I'm having a few strict days on my own egg-free version of ubercamp although I accidentally had a cup of tea this morning because I was going on autopilot due to lack of sleep in the hope it will kickstart weight loss.

PseudoBadger · 11/02/2014 10:35

Lovecat I need to know what these Pecans of Doom are?

HeirToTheIronThrone · 11/02/2014 10:54

My naughty weekend lb has disappeared overnight, hooray!

I am feeling rotten with a horribly sore throat though - any suggestions for LC throat remedies??

Thumb I am A+ but seem to be ok with dairy - although maybe if I cut it out totally I would lose more, I might give that a go.

Today will be dairy-free actually (coincidence) - few blueberries this morning as I wasn't hungry and felt my usual yogurt wouldn't help the throat situation. Lunch will be tuna mayo and cucumber in little gem leaves, then sausages baked with some sort of veg and chilli and lardons tonight.

Menu help needed too - DH is taking me for a Valentine's dinner, [http://thelibertine-westbourne.com/media/documents/Libertines-Valentines-Menu.pdf here] is the menu - what is best??

HeirToTheIronThrone · 11/02/2014 10:54

Bugger - here is the menu!

spookySwitched · 11/02/2014 10:57

Ive not measured myself but can (just) fit into jeans that were too tight at christmas. I feel slimmer to, or maybe just not so bloated. I agree with seriouslion , diets like slimming world and weightwatchers work, but the food is so bland. I used to do slimming world and I mainlined muller light yogurts and fruit but always felt so unsatisfied.
On this woe my food is pretty much always delicious.

Can i ask about ubercamp? Is it just no dairy or processed food, or do you have to follow the recipes given?

trashcanjunkie · 11/02/2014 11:01

Morning losers. Just a quick 'un before work. Feeling high as a low-carb kite this morning! Just filed my tax return (sanctioned late Blush) and have got brand new exy-pesh scarpa walking boots and a ridiculously epic new waterproof coat to go skipping off out in Grin (I run a doggy day care business, so in my 'office' aka the park it is often pissing down with rain!)

I'm also feeling so pleased that the problem I have with my ankle (stretchy ligament) is feeling much less painful. I have been wearing a 'moon boot' for months now (not fun when chasing run away puppies!) and my foot specialist has told me two excellent if slightly scary things. 1. I don't need to wear the bastard thing if I don't feel I need to Grin

  1. I am having surgery to correct it (some time in the next six months)

A huge part of my weight gain this time round has been due to enforced sedentry carb scoffing, and this feels like the end of that chapter.

aah southsea c'mon, post your food and drink - we'll all help Wink

chester very pleased your ds is better - lack of sleep is the shittest

sayra Grin

thumbwitch I am B+ but definitely stall with dairy.... do you think the + makes a difference?

seriouslion excellent de-lurking post! How much dairy are you eating? and do you want to post your menu? It really can help

EwanHoozami · 11/02/2014 11:28

Heir that looks really tasty! Best bet would be the quail to start and pig cheeks for main, maybe ask for some of their purple sprouting instead of the spuds and parsnips?

trash excellent news on the ankle. Must have been a nightmare in your line of work.

Pisci I've always struggled more to lose weight this time of year. I wonder if my body stubbornly holds on to the excess as insulation, or more likely winter provides less opportunity for activity and more time indoors distractedly opening kitchen cupboards Grin

today...

B: Lidl yog
L: ham and spinach omelette
D: I've got a brisket in the slow cooker with leeks, shallots, rosemary and turnips. Another Asda "whoops" score from last week. Smells amazing.

Am tempted to do more reduced shelf-bothering today.

WillieWaggledagger · 11/02/2014 11:42

you don't necessarily need to exercise to lose weight. though there are of course lots of other benefits to doing exercise and being more active in terms of fitness, mood, body shape etc. indeed, when i first start or restart a new type of exercise i often put on a bit of weight initially, i think to do with the fact that exercise causes small 'tears' in the muscles, which when they repair themselves makes them stronger, but initially will cause them to take on water as part of the healing process (this may be bollocks but it makes me feel better). it's worth being aware of this

i'm not doing much at the moment because i'm working all the hours god sends and it's bloody raining all the time, so as ewan says being active is more tricky. it's not causing me to put on weight or anything but i am more moody and can see the loss in muscle tone

Lovecat · 11/02/2014 11:46

Pecans of Doom :o - I was originally looking for the week 3 recipe that Piscivorous posted, but couldn't find it, so I made these instead from the Dana Carpender book:

0.5 cup of pecans
25g melted butter
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp ginger

Heat oven to 150F
Arrange pecans on a small baking tray (one with a lip or sides) and toss them in the butter, making sure they're all coated. Bake for 10 mins.
Remove from oven, add soy sauce and ginger, toss again and bake for further 5 mins. Wait for them to cool if you can bear it. Try not to inhale in one sitting.

The recipe I was looking for, btw, was this:

Courtesy of Piscivorous : Melt butter in a pan, add pecans, stir, sprinkle with salt, sweetener (xylitol) and cinammon, mix thoroughly until all melted and combined. Allow them to cool and YUM!

So you can probably do them in a pan on the stove with much less faffage (this is not good news, they are addictive!).

Talking of entitled parents and their offspring... one child approached me in the playground yesterday. - DD's mum, are we eating at yours after the cinema? Me - Yes, we are. Child - oh GOOD, can you do that lovely chicken you did at DD's Hallowe'en party? And that gorgeous dip?

That would be nice, only I have no recollection of any kind of dip whatsover at that party... (The 'lovely chicken' btw was quorn goujons as 2 of the kids were vegetarian... Confused) The only dips I tend to do are guacamole (which I know I didn't do!) or salsa - again, I know I didn't do that for them... someone is going to be disappointed...

ChesterDrawers · 11/02/2014 12:27

Uuugh, the last few days' full caff coffee consumption has come back to bite me on the arse after months of decaffing. I have got a horrible headache now. Drinking lots of water and trying not to give in but really want to be home on the sofa with my duvet and a good book afternoon nap.

Lighthousekeeping · 11/02/2014 12:27

I've got too many courgettes. Tonight I'm going to make a large chilli pre nights starting tomorrow. Are kidney beans a no no on boot camp? Shall I replace them with mushrooms?
