Wow! So much nattering that we've filled up the thread before the end of the week!

Here's the link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for tomorrow morning.

And, for the Weight Tracker I'm not quite sure what happens with this link I think that you will be asked to enter your weight for this week and then you will see your individual graph.

I hope you all had a good week last week, and very good luck for week 2.

Totally cocked up on food! Dangerous times. Had 100g total early this am. At work. Nothing since and I am overwhelmed with hunger.

Not going to graze. Just sorting myself out. All you folk who say you're not hungry. I bloody always am.

I know eat more fat!!

CrabbyWinterBottom · 21/01/2014 16:00

MyPrecious yes lentil soup is a disaster, sorry - very carby indeed. Planning Planning Planning!

Thumb it was me who suggested cream in your yoghurt, so at least I've managed one suggestion that didn't make you gag. Wink

Grin at dolphin pose! Ruby I'm now going to have to carve you a dolphin out of swede. Grin

Happy welcome. Smile You've had some great advice so far, especially from LittleMiss. I also have issues with some tastes and textures and I'm a bit funny about my food combinations too. I didn't used to like many types of veg but I'm getting much better. I find that preparing foods in different ways makes an enormous difference to their taste and texture, so maybe you could work towards trying some of the low carb foods that you don't like in the future, cooked differently? How were things like celeriac and cabbage cooked when you disliked them? Otherwise I'd be concerned that your list of what you can eat is quite restrictive. Maybe stick with what you know and like to start with and then try introducing some new foods as you get more into it? I think BIWI is spot on when she says don't dive straight into bootcamp proper - it's quite extreme to start with even with the wide range of low carb veg.

Heir those sound tremendous. I'm a sucker for their feta stuffed chillis..

Tintin I find fat tricky because I can't stand animal fat in its pure form. The traditional answer (as well as butter and mayo, coconut oil etc) is to eat the fat on pork chops, the skin on chicken and so on.

But if like me that thought makes you shudder, I cook with leftover Christmas goose fat, beef dripping and my old (cheap) friend lard. Mmmmmmm, lard.

Sorry Precious - lentil soup. A minor cock-up but absolutely not unrecoverable. Get stuck into the water, stick to the rules like glue and don't beat yourself up. Life throws brickbats (and lentil soup) sometimes.

EwanHoozami · 21/01/2014 16:17

Here's an example of a recipe I use lard for, btw

WillieWaggledagger · 21/01/2014 16:20

mypreciousring - lentil soup is technically too carby, but on the plus side plenty of fibre so not the worst cock-up by any means

just try and eat as low carb as you can for the rest of the day, and be aware that there may be the possibility of carb cravings rearing their ugly head if the soup has triggered an insulin spike, so make sure you have something easy and low carb handy just in case (cheese or something)

sometimes life gets in the way, so don't worry too much, and make sure you're strict for the rest of today. as someone has said on these threads before, if you had a puncture, you wouldn't slash the other four tyres too, would you?

WillieWaggledagger · 21/01/2014 16:20

Catching up, catching up................ Sat in my nightie in bed this am with DD3 watching Peppa pig on the ipad ( as you do) - about to start the morning dashing around preparing for work/ nursery/school.

Bashing on the door were the builders/ plumber who ( I thought) were booked for a months time to replace the boiler/ the hot water tank / and rip out both ancient tatty 1950's bathrooms and refit them......

EEk - have had a multi multitasking day trying to work - rehome all the children (temporarily - as no heating or hot water or baths......) and choose tiles/pain etc surreptitiously in meetings on my phone or pad....

HAVE drunk my 8 huge glasses water - and had my broccoli and stilton soup for lunch - but now fridge empty..... house in carnage and no children in it. I DON"T KNOW WHERE TO START.....

So - I decide to catch up on MN..... ! Grin

hope you are all ok and loving dolphin pose - if anyone does carve one out of a vegetable - lets have a picture Grin

Evening losers!

Another good day for me foodwise and pulled pork from the recipe thread simmering away in the slow cooker so that's dinner and tomorrow's lunch sorted.

A daft question but does greek yoghurt and cream taste like natural yoghurt or not? I ummed and ahhed about picking a tub up but I hate yoghurt, the sour milk taste makes me gag so thought I'd ask before I buy any. If it doesn't what quantities do I mix?

Notso, it's usually much creamier than normal natural yoghurt, especially if you mix it with actual cream. I definitely prefer it to 'normal' yoghurt.

Eatings today:

B: protein shake with cream
L: wasn't very hungry so had a couple of sticks of celery with Philly and a few small slices of salami
D: cauliflower rice with onion, garlic. chorizo, green beans and mushrooms, all cooked in coconut oil

Have had one cup of tea, one liquorice tea, one coffee with cream and several glasses of water. Feel quite full now!

It is really weird to think that I've not eaten chocolate, bread, snacks of any type, or had an alcoholic drink for over a week...

Gerrythetootallgiraffeswife · 21/01/2014 18:51

Feeling good today. Have realised that my appetite has shrunk, hadn't really noticed before but am only just getting hungry after lunch at 1.30. Usually I'd be desperate for a snack at about 4.

Today's menu

B: 2x boiled eggs with butter, 1x coffee with cream 1xblack tea

L: big salad of chicken, bacon, spinach, lettuce, coleslaw, dressing, and a few feta stuffed olives on the side

D: meatballs fried in butter with some kind of sauce? Any ideas? Pref not too creamy as am trying not to overdo the dairy and will have cheese on too. Maybe just small amount of tomatoey type sauce. Served on buttered spinach

S: 1x German sausage, loads of water.

googoogoggles · 21/01/2014 19:20

Just home and logged on – can't keep up with you lot, so have skip read. Apologies for not contrbuting much but my meals, to keep myself on track
B Coffee with cream
L Beef slices/salad
D Salmon in lots of butter, Tzatzki (total ff, cucumber, garlic – no mint sadly), more salad
Not enough water so trying to catch up now
calamity - I've got same problem, keep running to loo. THink may be the caffeine as I mainline coffee through working day. Maybe need to ditch it but LOVE it (wail!)
Any ideas for lush subsitute anyone (desperate) OR would it be better to switch to low caffeine, then decaff first to wean myself off it (dread headaches) Help! Please Flowers

ImATotJeSuisUneTot · 21/01/2014 19:36

I nearly broke today, DD2 had an accident and needed to go to hospital. Alls ok but it put me on the backfoot food wise. I was stood in the newsagent queue with a huge bar of chocolate, then threw it back on the shelf and ran away!

Yeah!

SnowieBear · 21/01/2014 20:14

ewaaan!!!

Hats off to the mighty awesomeness of the dolphin pose. It was delicious and I've had the most exquisite experience. Can thoroghly recommend - I buttered an oven dish and did three layers of thinly sliced swede. Each layered generously salted, peppered and nutmegged. Spotted with butter and some stron cheddar shavings. Finished off with double cream and more cheddar for the gratin, baked and had with lamb leg steaks fried in butter and rosemary.

I'm in heaven, truly.

fizzly · 21/01/2014 20:26

ooh going to try dolphin pose later this week for sure.

Today:
B: 2 eggs, butter
L: spinach/celeriac coup
D: a carbonara chicken, bacon, leek, pepper, mushrooms. Yum.

SayraT · 21/01/2014 20:27

I've been a little bit bad today but not too bad I don't think.

B: smoked salmon
L: salmon with pesto (no pine nuts in it, it was from Tesco), cauliflower and spinach
S: a carrot and some cheddar cubes
D: Pork belly slices and (this is the bad bit) I made berry crumble with ground almonds as the topping. It was yum Smile

Aside from that I have been very good, it is my birthday today and I didn't eat any of the cake that was brought in despite one person saying "go on, you can't not have cake on your birthday".

I'm not really craving sweet things and I am surprised at how your tastes change, a few weeks ago I would have found some of the berries (red currants) a bit tart and would have added sugar. Today I just found them perfect and delicious!

SarahBeenysBumblingApprentice · 21/01/2014 20:33

Hi all - have been away for a few days and just logged on to hundreds of threads!

ImATot - hope your DD is ok. Well done on putting the chocolate back! There doesn't seem to be much to pick from in hospitals. Thanks

I've just put my Monday weight on the spreadsheet which was a 2lb loss - I'm actually really happy with that as I was 2w2d into bootcamp on Monday and have actually lost 9lb in total.

It has to be said - this WOE is fantastic!

I don't do diets where I have to count things; it helps keep my head straight. In the past when I wasn't hungry, I wouldn't crave any food especially but any hint of hunger and I would want carbs. And I suspect my insulin was all over the place because I was always hungry - to the point where it's a family joke. And normally I would have to be throwing-myself-into-a-vat-of-ice-cream-hungry in order to loose weight.

But on LC - I'm not hungry (apart from the first week), my skin is better and it's actually working. The food is bloody lurverly.

[converted] thanks BIWI and Willie and everyone else who is jostling us along Thanks

GatoradeMeBitch · 21/01/2014 20:35

Is DeLouis mayonnaise normally really hard to open, or have I got a dud one? I keep trying but it won't budge!
