Wow! So much nattering that we've filled up the thread before the end of the week!

Here's the link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for tomorrow morning.

And, for the Weight Tracker I'm not quite sure what happens with this link I think that you will be asked to enter your weight for this week and then you will see your individual graph.

I hope you all had a good week last week, and very good luck for week 2.

Dauphinoise!!!

Blast that phone. Grin

CalamityKate · 21/01/2014 13:00

Oh Ewan!! I'm genuinely lol'ing! I was imagining you perching a swede on your forehead and I thought "Huh. But that's more an elephant or unicorn than a dolphin, surely??"

SnowieBear · 21/01/2014 13:04

thumbwitch, ewan, thanks for the prompt responses! Yup, those sound fantastic, don't know what happened to my brain, I just froze after mainlining for a few days on pork in mustard sauce (yum!).

Swede dauphinoise sounds intriguinly good, must give it a try. Leek gratin too... decisions, decisions! Thanks for making my dinner lovely! Thanks

SnowieBear · 21/01/2014 13:04

By the way, ewan, I am sure dolphins are LC Grin

Thumbwitch · 21/01/2014 13:05

Oh Ewan, dolphin pose is THE best autocorrect EVER!! Grin

calamity are you having lots of cream? I find too much gives me the runs. Also I find all the butter etc helps, er, lubricate things Blush
maryz I miss something sweet too (as a reward for getting through the evening Wink), especially when every one else around you is. And they seem to have to do it right next to me.
Saturdays are really shit (in a way) because we buy a treats and all watch a movie together, passing the sweets, crisps etc around under my nose
I have to sit on my hands sometimes.

Hi losers, hope you are all ok today Smile

Hi Kate! Thanks Woolfey, I hoped that having the salmon flakes with the salmon plus cheese as snack would up the fat sufficiently? Good tip on swede, I'll try it. Previously I have disliked the texture, but I know tastes change, and I am willing to be openminded [happy]

rubybricks · 21/01/2014 13:24

maryz try liquorice tea! i got this on the last bc - i too have a massive craving for something sweet at the end of the day, and found this helped (oddly enough haven't used it yet this time around, should listen to my own advice!)

welcome happygirl! i too eat from a pretty limited palette, had never even tasted celeriac before meeting this lot, couldn't countenance loads of things (like chicken with skin on, for example) but it's amazing how easy some of the 'recipes' are - wilted spinach anyone?(yes that counts as a recipe in my book Smile)

just wanted to add that i can't bear total yoghurt either - i tried it a few times - even with cream, which thins it down - i find the lidl or just tescos own FF greek yoghurt much more palatable (and i really enjoy it with cream now, which i wouldn't have believed possible a year ago)

there really is a massive change in thinking that comes about with this WOE, hope someone more knowledgeable than me will be along soon to advise on your intake - and good luck!

rubybricks · 21/01/2014 13:24

i bet crabby could fashion a dolphin pose from a swede Smile

rubybricks · 21/01/2014 13:28

sorry i meant this face Envy

Happygirl if you don't like Total yogurt can you find a different breakfast? Eggs are FAB at breakfast. (Scrambled egg and mushrooms fried in butter? best breakfast in the world IMO)

Try mashed swede and mash it with PLENTY of butter (no other liquid needed)

To your "basically...will this work" question I think the answer is yes. But you need to find ways to keep the fat content really high. Add butter to everything you possibly can, fish, veg (that fried mushroom is your friend!) etc. I take it mayonnaise is out? otherwise that's a good way of including fat. The idea is to eat more fat than you are eating protein, a ratio of Fat most : Protein middle :Carbs least

BIWI · 21/01/2014 13:46

Welcome happygirl! Because you have asked so nicely, I will put the stick down for the moment Wink. It sounds like you've been having a tough time of things. This is a great WOE, but I'm a bit worried that if you go straight to Bootcamp it might be a bit too much for you. Why not start with Bootcamp Light instead - and be a bit kinder to yourself - especially if you really don't like all those lovely low carb veg.

Thumbwitch I have a fab recipe for cheese biscuits/crackers that I made on Saturday. The first time I've ever made anything that really worked, and was the right rigidity to be able to use with cheese.

I'll post it when I'm back home this evening.

happygirl welcome and I'd like to add my voice to rubybricks as I am similar. Fussy - since a child - texture issues especially - and mental health problems, mainly addiction (which masqueraded as depression for many years). And I came to this with quite a narrow selection - and still do BUT I came with an open mind and I now eat two new vegetables in the last week and a half. It's years since I tried a new vegetable. I do eat the yogurt with cream and it's ok - we all have our different issues though and I would never belittle anyone else's. The changes for me have been more than just what I'm eating - they are in my mind, which is why this thread helps so much.

I felt pretty ill days 2-6, but now I feel so much better, it must be tough to get through carb flu and work, I'm recovering from orthopaedic surgery atm. I really hope you stick around.

Grin at the dolphin pose

CK caffeine is both a diuretic and can on it's own irritate smooth muscle, that's why BIWI et al suggest strong black coffee for constipation. Some are more susceptible than others but agree with Chipping if you're going that often it's probably the caffeine

GatoradeMeBitch · 21/01/2014 13:53

I'm about to prepare lunch. I've adapted a recipe I found online - I'm going to butter a baking dish, mix mayo, parmesan, shallots and spring onions together, then spoon the mixture over cod fillets, and bake for 15-20 mins at 200 celsius. I'll have it with a rocket salad.

Does that sound like it will turn out well? I don't know if I should use olive oil instead of butter.

WillieWaggledagger · 21/01/2014 14:00

use butter, much tastier and there is some suggestion that OO isn't good for you if heated up

GatoradeMeBitch · 21/01/2014 14:02

OK, thank you!

captainmummy · 21/01/2014 14:13

Happy - welcome. Do you eat mashed potato? Cos if you cook some cauli and mash/whisk (i use a stickblender) with butter, it is exectly like mash potato. No smell of cauli or anything. Just lush comfort food.
Snowie - I do lamb and leek- cook lamb in chunks. Cook chunks of leek in stock, then add soy sauce and butter to make a glossy sauce. Mix with lamb and juices.
Or lamb and mashed swede, with plenty of butter and pepper.

I had a chard delivered in my veg box - just chopped that up and fried in butter with salt and pepper - lovely! I've got a bunch of Kale too - better than buying in Tesco, as they don't remove the central hard core before chopping. I can strip it off and toss in oil and bake for Kale Crisps.

CalamityKate · 21/01/2014 14:33

So let me get this absolutely straight - it's impossible to overdo butter?

giraffeseatpineapples · 21/01/2014 14:46

let us know how it turns out Gator. I wouldn't be overly keen on heated mayo with cod but actually it makes fab chicken nugget coating with some ground almonds!

Well done little miss, low carb is excellent for getting me to enjoy new foods too.

TinTinsSexySister · 21/01/2014 14:50

Calamity - yes, I believe so.

Yummy, yummy butter!

Thanks EwanHoozami.

Perhaps not enough fat then.

There was cheese in the breakfast, the soup was cooked with coconut oil and the fish dish has cream cheese in it.

Where's everyone else getting their fat from then? I have mayo with salad, cook with olive oil or coconut oil and smother veg in butter BUT now I think about it there's not much other fat in my diet.

Anyone got any ideas?

Looking forward to BIWI's cheese biscuit recipe

HeirToTheIronThrone · 21/01/2014 15:03

So in Lidl, in the antipasti section, they have these little cream cheese balls that are covered in mustard and fennel seeds. They are LUSH. I may have just had a whole pot at my desk...

I've run out of the yogurt of awesomeness so may have to go to Lidl on the way home. Happy days :)
