Morning all!

I see several of you have already weighed in on the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

As of today, though, we also have our bright, shiny, new Bootcamp section on Mumsnet, including our own Weight Tracker, which will only show your own weight/progress.

You can either use the Spreadsheet as we have done before, which everyone has access to and can see, or you can go here and enter your weight.

Obviously you can do both!

When you're in the new Bootcamp, if you click on the tab that says 'more info' that will take you to a section which has loads of information about low carbing, as well as Bootcamp Rules

Before we get going formally, I have to make an important disclaimer:

I am not a doctor, a medic, a scientist, a nutritionist or a dietician. I have no formal training in food, dieting or low carbing. The information that I provide here is based solely on my reading on the subject, as well as my own experience. If you have any kind of medical condition and/or you are taking any kind of ongoing medication, you should consult your GP before starting a low carb diet

That done, good luck everyone!

Where is all the ff total yoghurt?? The word of Biwi must be spreading fast as I can't get it anywhere! Sad
Have had to get Sainsbury's own greek style but it's higher in carbs Angry

Lighthousekeeping · 18/01/2014 17:26

I manage to get it when I do an online shop. I've just put done sugar free jelly in the fridge to set. I'm feeling it tonight I have to say. I just need either something sweet or a glass or something. Either will do.

teaandthorazine · 18/01/2014 17:30

We can only hope that the UK govt follows suit, but I think I just saw a pig fly past the window (mmmmm, bacon) Grin

Have barely eaten anything today. I know that's not great but I just haven't been hungry. Despite promising myself I would have a quiet day I've barely sat down until now. I guess that means am in ketosis though?

Breakfast: protein shake, cup of tea
Lunch: ummmmm, forgot about it Blush
Dinner: will be chicken and veg stir fry with the leftovers from last nights roast

Haven't drunk enough water either. Only a couple of glasses and a large cup of liquorice tea.

BIWI · 18/01/2014 17:42

Hello! Sorry for abandoning you all. Has been rather a busy time for me recently. Thursday evening my bestest, oldest friend came to stay - she lives in SW France so I don't see her very often. She brought me some Champagne to celebrate my new job, so I indulged in that. It would have been rude not so, surely? Wink Blush

Anyway, even though I ate low carb meals all day, I ended up drinking more sparkling wine and had a handful of mixed nuts - and was 1.25 lbs up on the scales the next day. Which was rather annoying, because by that point I had been 4lbs down.

So - just goes to show you what it shows you Grin

We have friends coming for dinner tonight, and I should have started the coking last night, but I was just too shattered - went off to bed just after 10, which is very unusual for me. Up at 8.30 to start the cooking, then Chinese class for 2 hours. Back home, made lunch, started prep for dessert, then to hairdressers for cut/colour, back home at 3.30 and I've been in the kitchen ever since!

Tonight we're having a low carb dinner party:

starter - mushroom pate; everyone else will be having toast, but I've made myself some low carb crackers for me

main - roasted monkfish with asparagus; for the rest a leek and potato mash

dessert - the chocolate mousse/ice-cream recipe that's on the recipe thread

and cheese to follow.

LittleMiss - thank you for sharing that with us.

My last personal trainer talked a lot about how addictive sugar was - he reckoned it could be as addictive as heroin!

Following my egg and sausage muffin culinary wobble can someone please save me from oopsie roll hell! Half puffy meringues, half runny dog sick splats! What have I done wrong? [embarassed]

gussiegrips · 18/01/2014 18:24

Who was looking for beetroot? I've just checked my jar of "Bramwells sliced beetroot" (from Aldi) and it says1.7g/100g.

No sugar listed on the pickling ingreds.

It's nice, too.

So, would that be allowed?

HumphreyCobbler · 18/01/2014 18:34

Menu for tonight sounds lovely BIWI

I am coming unstuck a bit, although still hanging in there. Having to give up dairy for the baby has resulted in being hungry. Starving! This must be because of the breastfeeding as I have done low carbing without dairy before and had no problem.`

As I had been bootcamping for nearly two weeks I decided to add in a few nuts, only I had forgotten that nuts trigger cold sores in me. I have an enormous one on my lip,. So that is out.

I think I will try reintroducing dairy tomorrow and see if affects the baby.

toomuchicecream · 18/01/2014 18:38

Just had a whole baked Camembert with celery & cucumber dipped in it. Is it really OK to eat that as it seems ridiculously indulgent!!

Notsoskinnyminny · 18/01/2014 18:43

BIWI have you got room for a notsolittle one Grin

Still not been! Not had an attack of the munchies yet, even when DH had 2 bags of crisps and a bar of chocolate last night fat barsteward. Had a huge brunch of fried eggs, bacon and cream cheese pancakes at 11 and have snacked on olives and leftover pancakes. I've done a beef casserole for dinner and can't decide what veg to have with it as I went to aldi for the first time and bought loads, no wonder Tesco across the road is always empty when you compare the prices.

EvaTheOptimist · 18/01/2014 18:47

Rosetinted your menus look absolutely fine to me! So I can't think of any reason why it hasn't started working yet. Good that you are giving it a bit more of a chance. You are already relatively light so I wonder whether you need to tinker around with portion sizes?

MrsPnut · 18/01/2014 18:48

Evening, I've been to a spa for the day today and managed to LC'ish my way through the 3 course meal.

B - cheese and chorizo (eaten on the run)
L - salmon, prawns, fennel slaw, salad leaves and mayo. braised beef with pink peppercorn sauce, small spoonful of red cabbage and carrots. cheeseboard (cheese and celery)
I didn't touch the bread, boulangere potatoes, roast potatoes, grapes, crackers or chutney.
D - chicken, buttery garlicy mushrooms, halloumi and salad. Maybe a small spoonful of homemade coleslaw.

I jumped on the scales this morning and I have lost 4lb so far, which helped me stay on the path at lunchtime despite some delicious sounding choices.

I may have a slimline tonic tonight with ice and lime as a treat.

BIWI · 18/01/2014 19:05

That sounds suspiciously low for the pickled beet root, given how carby beetroot is - I'd avoid it myself.

Rosetinted - doesn't look like you're eating much

Are you eating enough fat? Your protein choices are all lean as well. And it could be that you have an issue with dairy. How much water are you drinking?

CrabbyWinterBottom · 18/01/2014 19:06

LittleMiss are you a BB? I've posted on there many times and still lurk. Well done you for getting on top of it Flowers. I drink too much and constantly have to monitor myself.

Speaking of which, Dp has just poured me a glass of red. Blush

Humph you know it's the arginine in the nuts that's the problem, right? You could take a lysine supplement?

Ruprekt · 18/01/2014 19:06

Am off out for a girly curry night tonight.

Driving so I dont drink. SmileSmile

Planning a mixed grill and side order I think.

Also, there are numerous Low Carb Facebook sites which are good. Lots of lovely recipes too.

Out to dinner tonight - Indian. Had a teeensy bit of poppadom (otherwise everyone would comment) and a chicken-sag for main. This was chicken in a spinach sauce, quite dry, not sweet, v nice. Had a spoon of rice which I pushed around but didn't eat. Ditto a corner of naan, torn up and lef to plate. No dessert, and sparkling water (wine doesn't go with Indian, and I don't drink beer any more Grin)
Breakfast - 2 friend eggs, mushrooms in butter, 2 slices bacon.

Lunch - soya yog with cream.

HumphreyCobbler · 18/01/2014 20:03

I didn't know that Crabby. Thanks very much.

dementedma · 18/01/2014 20:08

Missed the kick off due to life getting in the way.
Will start proper on Monday.

Methe · 18/01/2014 20:15

If anyone can't get the total ff yoghurt then have a look in lidl and try the eridanous one. It's super cheap and comes in 1kg tubs. I actually think it's nicer than Total.

SarahBeenysBumblingApprentice · 18/01/2014 20:18

Grumpy - my oopsie rolls were like very soft, flat eggy meringues. I whisked the whites to stiff peaks but just whisked the yolks until the cheese had mixed in.

I have no idea if they turned out right but they seemed okay to me. They are quite useful for putting slabs of butter on but I could certainly live without them!

SteeleyeStan · 18/01/2014 20:19

Meh, shop was very trying today, and I've only planned and shopped for the next three days. Oh well.

After big breakfast I didn't have a proper lunch, just snacked on salad veggies, a slice of cheese and a few minisalamis. And drank more coffee with coconut oil and a bit bottle of mineral water.

Dinner was a stir-fry of lamb, pak choi, kale, spinach and spring onion. A small bowl of Greek yoghurt and vanilla for dessert.

ToomuchIsBackOnBootcamp · 18/01/2014 20:19

Have ram raided Lidl today to stock up on lots of lovely LC goodies, it was like fridge Tetris when I got back. Tons of stuff for under £30, love it

B 2 eggs, 2 sausages, mushrooms, all fried in butter
L egg mayo wrapped in a slice of chicken (bit random but was best I could find when out.)
D chicken with cauli cheese and cabbage

Just having a decaf coffee with cream and feel really full.

Piscivorus · 18/01/2014 20:23

Ruprekt I like "I breathe, I'm hungry" for low carb ideas

Grumpy I have never had success with Oopsie rolls either, mine are always soggy and meringue, you couldn't mistake them for a burger bun!

Food today has been:
Mini quiche-y eggy things (used smoked ham to line bun tin)
Salmon, scallops and chorizo with a mug of my homemade CupASoup
PD keema curry with Slim Rice
Probably not drunk enough water and succumbed to a Diet Coke though

I am very proud of myself though as I managed to walk out of Tesco without buying the Haagen-Dazs Salted Caramel ice cream which is my favourite thing in the world ever (apart from my family of course!) and has only recently come out in the shops. I am a great one for bargaining with myself so I have now promised myself I can have as much of it as I like on my holiday in May if I resist now and lose some weight first Smile

ToomuchIsBackOnBootcamp · 18/01/2014 20:33

I agree methe I love the big tub of eridanous yoghurt from Lidl! there is one in my fridge from my shop today. Though I nearly picked up the fat free version by mistake, it's paler blue in colour.
Be wary, they also do a pack of 4 smaller eridanous Greek yoghurts but for some reason the carb count is higher, I think it's 4 or 5, for some reason, not as low as the giant tub.

(tub also makes good use as a paint pot or Lego storage afterwards Smile )
