Thanks fairy, With ex getting married as well, was feeling pretty sorry for myself last night, in a 'why does everyone else move their life on but not me' sort of way.
What I really needed on Sat was soemone to make a fuss of me Envy

I know distance has a lot to do with it and he is still talking about wanting to take me and the kids out when they get back from their dads. I think he genuinely sees me a potential friend, but honestly I'm not sure I'm up for that. He is off travelling again so I think I will leave it a few weeks and see how I feel about still being friends when he gets back in touch - which knowing him he will!! In the meantime I guess its back to the internet for me.......

Monty100 · 09/08/2010 12:03

Four kittens so far! Shock

OP posts:
knickers0nmyhead · 09/08/2010 12:07

Hmmmm Im trying to at least!!!!!

Wasnt sure whether to join in now or wait for the new thread!?

Oh Kittens...I love 'em.

I had two kittens...only one now though..but my friend's cat has four, four week old kittens and they are gorgeous! I've named the male Jasper Grin

elastamum · 09/08/2010 12:21

Oh Monty!!! How exciting.. keep us updated Smile

FairyLightsForever · 09/08/2010 13:09

Oooh exciting Monty!

The threads move so fast Knickers, I struggle to keep up, so I just post when I can...
I kind of feel that I shouldn't really be on here still, as I've run out of steam with the online dating, but I like to keep up with how everyone is doing. Those on the marital sofa give me hope! Grin

I get where you're coming from elasta, it's Sad when you get on so well but circumstances get in the way. Maybe it's because there's someone even better still out there Wink

elastamum · 09/08/2010 13:31

I live in hope fairy, but I am starting to wonder if at 46 most men think I am just too old for internet dating. I am fit, blond and really outgoing, with 2 young kids but I seem to get a lot of interest from 55 or 60 somethings and no one my own age. All the men my age are looking for under 40's.

Cant imagine why I would want a partner who is nearing retirement when my kids are in primary school. Does anyone else have this problem? Hmm

hatesponge · 09/08/2010 13:48

hello all, have been off for the last week and still not replaced my laptop so can only get on here at work. hence why I have been quiet!

have spent the last half hour skimming reading thru to try and catch up with you all...bear with me if I get any of it wrong :)

Monty - any more kittens yet? Grin I haven't been on FB for a few days, DS1 lets me go on via his Xbox sometimes but I can only do it with his assistance as am not up with new technology! :) whats this about a bloke..what have i missed? Am liking the sound of part Italian but as I'm 38 I think he might be a little young for me! Also depends on height and size of hands. Anything under 5foot 10 is a no-no, as is anyone without 'manly' hands, regardless of height. Not fussy am I? This probably explains why I am (and shall remain) single.

Betty - have been wondering how all was going for you, good to hear all well with the bf :) Agree with others who have said that the meeting of Ex and his 'lady friend' sounds a bit staged, and that they prob already knew each other Hmm

Elasta :( re traveller but I suspect it was the distance more than anything else, also I didnt think you were 100% on him (apologies if I've remembered this wrong, sorry am a bit out of date with everyone's news)

SCL - did you meet exbf in the end? are you feeling ok about it all?

also did I read mention of drinks at end of august....I'll be there, work and children permitting - assuming I'm on the invitee list of course!

hello to ninah (am still lol about your comment that I've got it going on! Grin), lou, eve, janos and everyone else..and congrats to asbm re the hat-related news :)

and the latest with me and wedding man is...not much. He phoned me twice last week (mainly about work stuff, but some general chit chat) and have had a couple of texts. Still not sure - I do think there is a mutual attraction in terms of personality but I am very much not his type from what I've heard, looks wise at least. Although to be honest he's not my type lookswise, he is very handsome in a pretty way, think like a Prince in a Disney film and you're on the right sort of lines...he has dimples Blush He does have lovely manly hands tho Grin He is round again this week or next so will see what happens. Or doesnt!

lou33 · 09/08/2010 14:12

I must keep this thread hidden from my kids now kittens have been mentioned. They would love one. And we only have a puppy a cat , three hamsters and a weekend dog already. Oh and we get our new puppy next sunday. . .

elastamum · 09/08/2010 14:29

Oh Lou you sond like me, 3 labradoodles and a horse here!

lou33 · 09/08/2010 14:42

We would have loved a labradoodle but they are out of our price
range sadly . So we have a springer and soon a patterjack

sincitylover · 09/08/2010 14:54

I really like cockerpoo they are cute. But no dogs here - cross between a cocker spaniel and a poodle.

sincitylover · 09/08/2010 14:56

sorry that last post didn't read well. DS2 especially would like a dog a German shepherd but as I am out all day not really practical.

sincitylover · 09/08/2010 15:00

we did seriously consider getting a dog last year as I thought it would be company for ds1 and he could walk it each day after school however when he found out he would have to pick up after it he changed his mind. Grin

Not cool for a nearly 14 yr old to do that.

Hi Sponge - yes did see exbf on Saturday night - we had a good time and also some quite deep convos. Just processing it all really.

ninah · 09/08/2010 17:56

monty congrats on the kittens and glad your neighbour hassle is sorted
elasta I probably would get similar, being 43 with 2 young dc - certainly men of my age seem to be looking for 30s - I wouldn't mind an older bloke if the quality was there though (unlikely since i am a dark, unfit recluse lol)
flf don't feel bad about coming on the thread when you're not dating. No one else is either lol! though i recklessly promised monty and asbm some 'action' over the summer
hate I have a mental picture of wedding man now!
scl I'd like a dog but am lazy when it comes to making the rl commitment - going away is enough of a hassle as it is ...
never thought of your ex pre-planning, betty. But now it has been mentioned that might make sense?
Hello everyone else

clarabella23 · 09/08/2010 19:34

Hi everyone Hope you're all good!

Monty100 · 09/08/2010 20:19

Hello all!

Knickers - do you want to share your experiences?? Wink
Some of us have met partners during the life of this thread. I joined the thread and then my ex dp convinced me to come back. Confused

Elasta - I don't know how everyone feels about this, but I would be tempted to say I'm 45 because 40-45 for example is an age group that someone might be looking for iyswim??

Sponge - good to see you. Did you see the Italian stallion on the other thread?

SCL - I would love a dog too, but I'm not a morning person, and no matter how the dc's promise they'd do the walking I just know they wouldn't.

Hi Clara Smile

Lou - you must have room for a couple of small ones Grin.

Mum cat is doing fine, she seems to have taken it all in her stride. I've just hand fed her a bowl of prawns Grin.

I've been out getting dd smellies, she's off on her jollies tomorrow and ds is going to his paternal gm's (eek) for a few days and when they get back I think he and exh will be going to Devon and/or France. YIPPEE! I know that sounds terrible and I'll miss him but boy do I need a break Grin.

OP posts:
elastamum · 09/08/2010 20:58

Hi monty, You have got a point. There does seem to be a bit of a psychological cut off at 45. My friends say I dont look anything like 46 and most people think I am much younger and are surprised if i reveal my age. But not sure if I can change the date on my profile and it is basically a lie. What does everyone else think. Would you do it?

kdk · 09/08/2010 21:17

Hi all

Hope everyone's fine - and when are we londoners/southerners going to meet up? Hope it's not when I'm away or I'll be mighty peed off!

@ elasta - I've lied about my age - mainly coz like you most people don't think I look 46 - and as I seemed to be getting interest mainly from the over-60s or under 30s! Have to say that it hasn't led to anything too spectacular so beginning to think it's just me!

Think on some sites you can't change your dob so you might be stuck with it anyway ...

And think the guy on the other thread is a bit of a hottie but am far too old and refuse to compete stand in the way of the younger ladeez.

Monty100 · 09/08/2010 21:18

Elasta - I would. It's only a little fib, and you can always be upfront straight away if you meet someone. I would just say that's how old I was when I registered or something. Wink

OP posts:
Monty100 · 09/08/2010 21:19

Kdk - hi! xpost

Yep we need a meet up soon, you off anywhere nice??

OP posts:
kdk · 09/08/2010 21:24

Hi Monty - or should that be Catwoman?

Sadly not as no money and no job nor any prospect of employment atm! Going to northern France for five days - mind you the kids love it as when the tide goes out there's miles of beach to play on so as long as they enjoy themselves it's okay with me - mind you, would love a break on my tod but not going to happen this year!

Monty100 · 09/08/2010 22:01

That sounds nice and peaceful, as long as they entertain each other. Any other adults going? Is September busy for teacher recruitment? Are you fully qualified now?

The mad old cat woman lol. I am not keeping any! I was railroaded into having the two I've got grrr.

OP posts:
kdk · 09/08/2010 22:07

My mum's coming with - don't know if I could stand a week on my tod with the terrible twosome!

Sadly as regards jobs I seem to have picked the worst possible time to try to get into lecturing - most FE colleges are making people redundant rather than hiring - and the few jobs (most of which are only part-time) are going to people with a lot more experience so may be back to the drawing board and yet another rethink on retraining! Mind you, running out of ideas - maybe should just wait for the appearance of a non-existent pension (or a sugar daddy!)

knickers0nmyhead · 09/08/2010 22:12

Hmmm well,

I have only every had two 'partners' Ex ex p, who was a twat, and ex p, father to the dc, who is also a twat Grin

So, thats me!!

sincitylover · 09/08/2010 22:30

kdk and midwife monty Grin - can you come to my birthday drinks on the 27th would love it? (also sponge) - I still have to fix a venue but it will be in the WC2 area.

Straight after work.

I seriously have to cut down my wine consumption (except for that night of course) - prob because I am on hols but seem to regularly be downing 2/3 bottle. Thought I would try to abstain tonite but found myself in Tescos looking at the special offers!!!!

Think I drunk less on holiday because it was more relaxed IYKWIM.

DS2 has made millionaires shortbread tonite so we are in for a treat if it sets tonight and if not for breakfast tomorrow.

Re the age debate not sure if I would alter mine online (being the wrong side of 45) but def have issues with my age. Some RL friends don't know my real age for example.

Part of my chat with exbf was about age- and my attitude towards my own lol (he is younger but not much younger than me) amongst other things. He seemed to be trying to hold a mirror up to me. Far too intuitive for my liking Wink
