Has no-one beaten me to it yet?

Juicy sounding good.

WG old friend is worth seeing again.

Second not to arrange a meet up without me. Maybe down south in May.

not sure Friday - bad for me cos its football training can't ask babysitter to pick up and take etc however will do some creative thinking. Because I would hate to miss it tbh!!

Remotew · 23/02/2010 10:43

Hope you can all get it sorted. Yes, asbm or we will be feeling left out. I can get a train to Edinburgh. I've done it before for the fringe.

aseriouslyblondemoment · 23/02/2010 10:54

ooh yes sounds like a cunning plan
i'm sure that juicy knows all the best places too!

Remotew · 23/02/2010 11:22

I bet she does!

well i know the best places in glasgow tbh. know roughly of ediburgh. janos will be better aquainted with edi than me.

check out flight prices, as long as you book 14 days + in advance. it tends to be a damn sight cheaper to dive up on a ryanair. edi best. but if you get something uber cheap and under tenner for prestwick then i can come thru and pick you up.

if you guys are coming up though and we need to sort lifts etc. we would be best to make another wkd of march as my uni thing will really clash with that. any other wkd in march i'm free at time of typing

Remotew · 23/02/2010 11:27

Will check out the train prices from here. Advance tickets are cheap enough. I don't mind where we go.

OP posts:
aseriouslyblondemoment · 23/02/2010 11:42

i can't do anything for the forseeable future sadly
but ninah and i can always have our own jolly in bedduth

DONTtouchMUMSspecialJUICE · 23/02/2010 11:43

eve - suppose the real question is all about whether or not your going to shop while here

glasgow is the place for high street, funky boutiques, designer(reiss, versace, etc) and all shops are very easily accessible

edinburgh has the same, but much wider spread out. difficult to find what your after tbh.

only shops you can get in edi that aren't in glasgow iirc is louis V, harvey nichols, your very high end designer shops

so unless you are after those then glasgow is definately the port of call if you require shopping on ur trip.

pub wise/night out.

glasgow is more fun. and full of some pretty colourful characters and can be a bit cheaper.

but suppose thats because in glasgow i know of a fair few places with live bands so tend to go to them as better atmosphere.

but edi IS edi.... janos might be able to schedule a wicked night for us there.

Remotew · 23/02/2010 11:49

Oh well I always shop high end, not. Glasgow sounds fun to me. Been to Edi a couple of times before. How far apart are the two cities?

OP posts:
aseriouslyblondemoment · 23/02/2010 11:57

glasgow sounds like a top night out esp with a live band

DONTtouchMUMSspecialJUICE · 23/02/2010 12:07

i'm in middle of the 2 cities. but slightly closer to edinburgh. but due to the motorway going direct over glasgow city centre it is actually quicker to get to glasgow than drive through the town to get to edi city centre.

distance is just slightly over 40 miles iirc.

takes about an hr to drive from one to other.

thesunshinesbrightly · 23/02/2010 14:12

I have the last one just started dating him

Remotew · 23/02/2010 20:18

Sunshine hope it goes well.

I've looked at train fares. £12.50 each way. Hotels seem reasonable especially if we share. Should be too drunk shattered to fuss about it.

OP posts:
thesouthsbelle · 23/02/2010 20:34

all you lot sorting out your weekend out.

is it me or is the chocolate in the shops at the minute far far too cheap (and not in keeping with my diet/running programme!)

DONTtouchMUMSspecialJUICE · 23/02/2010 21:30

eve - i would be up for hotel too actually. saves me faffing around with trains.

janos - how does glasgow strike you if we get hotel? or you rather edi? that was where we suggested originally.

thinking one of the travel lodges where we get 3-4 to a room pretty damn cheap.

i'll give you a lift back to edi save you train far.

and....... we defo have to change the date.

forces dude just got his next leave dates confirmed.. he's back sooner than expected.he's back last week in march. i'm going to germany soon as my passport is back which will be first or 2nd wkd of march.

how are you set for the wkd of the 20th march?

aseriouslyblondemoment · 23/02/2010 21:39

way hey juicy
counting sleeps time lol
your plan sounds fab but i can't make it unless i bring the 3 musketeers

exh has already given me his itinary for the next few months
but...there will be other times
maybe...a BIG meet-up at some point?
how good would that be??!!

hatesponge · 23/02/2010 21:46

scl - keeping my fingers crossed you can make next Fri! let us know....

also where shall we meet - my train comes in to Charing Cross so West End/Covent Garden all good for me.......any thoughts Monty/kdk/scl/other Londoners?!

belle - i know what you mean re chocolate, i gave it up for lent last year but this year it is practically calling to me from the shelves! and I cant ignore it however hard i try (ie not very)

juice - glad forces guy has his leave sorted finally

hope all you ladies have a lovely time in edi/glasgow...am quite envious as have never been to either! maybe we will have to do another meet in the summer and come up there to see you all!

facebook man is bemoaning his fate again, how he cant meet a normal, self sufficient, single woman his age, where is he going wrong etc. Have restrained myself from responding, but am so tempted to comment on his status and point out that despite being all 4 of his criteria, he couldn't even be bothered to take up my offer of a drink!

ninah · 23/02/2010 21:56

I am in same boat as asbm, rarely get overnight leave and nothign in sight for forseeable
which is obv why I spend more time on here than cougaring nervous young farm hands lol#
does your ex include skiiing in his itinerary asbm? as in oh I am skiing so will have to do x date instead of y as agreed

DONTtouchMUMSspecialJUICE · 23/02/2010 22:09

asbm - yes.. sleep counting time... would be a miracle if my passport comes back in time for next wkd

his leave works out great timing. as he will be leaving just as ex is due to go to thailand so i wont need to throw forces in the mix with the dc to spend time with him .

a wkd in germany to make sure we still feel the same in RL as we do with our long distance thing.

sponge - why do you still have him on fb... why not just delete?

ninah & asbm - maybe we can organise a summer trip down your way... i'm thinking a nice beer garden in the summer time.

Monty100 · 23/02/2010 22:11

Evening all , SCL, please make it. Or, the alternative is the following Thursday. What do you peeps think? I'll leave it up to you, but the four of us at least must make it? Don't want to give you grief having to call in favours re the football training.

Can anyone recall who else is London? I know there's others but I have head like a sieve. I haven't messaged inthemist aka passmyglass yet until we firm up the date. I'll message Lou too as could be ok for her of an early evening. LOL at Boris and Dora the dogs. As for venue, don't have one in mind at the moment, is it a couple of bottles glasses of vino somewhere? Anyone got anywhere in mind? Charing Cross is good for me getting home Sponge . What line are you on? I'm Hayes line from there. I'm near Bloomsbury straight from work, I don't mind, SCL/Kdk where's handy for you both?

Juicy - woohoo at Forces man.

ASBM I think a joint meet up would be brilliant.

Once again if I disappear it's not me it's my ISP grrr.

aseriouslyblondemoment · 23/02/2010 22:19

ninah my exh lived to work we came secondary
and my folks(quite rightly too)have busy busy social lives
so i think the midlands jolly will be in bedduth at this rate, and i can force suggest to holly to come along too
at least we'd have our own live band..albeit the sound of webbed feet slapping on cobble stones

ninah · 23/02/2010 22:20

summer sounds good, i do occasionally get a week off over summer
beer garden, mmmm - can't imagine ever been warm again atm!
re forces - i do hope you do feel the same in rl juicy it sounds very very positive

DONTtouchMUMSspecialJUICE · 23/02/2010 22:33

ninah - well assuming we still feel same as last time it should be v v positive

we're back to the negative temperatures again up here. brrrrrrr.

aparently its minus 10 at the warmest in germany at the mo ... mentionned i'd need to get some proper winter jackets and things for going over. but forces says he has a "bear" jacket he'll give me for the wkd?? not entirely sure what that is. sounds like some sort of hiking jacket with a furry inside. but if it keeps me warm i wont be turning it down .

might invest in some thermal trousers as we plan to do sight seeing. seen the nike outlet here do some that look like leggings but made of thermal gear for under my jeans.

asbm - at webbed feet.

hatesponge · 23/02/2010 22:35

juice - I know I should delete him, but I do find his updates oddly entertaining, albeit irritating as well!

monty - am on the dartford line

and yes to a big meet up in the summer, if we ever get a summer that is!

ninah · 23/02/2010 22:41

lol asbm webbed feet and cobbles! glad you are keeping in touch with Holly, too
my ex was similar with other even less acceptable compulusions ahem
juicy I'm not sure about bear jacket, sounds a bit Iron John
I'd stick to indoor sightseeing if I were you
