Well, guess who I heard from today (by email) - the exbf. Just a quick message to say he hopes I have a lovely christmas. I've replied with same as I feel there is no harm.

Also at work today although will be leaving early...keeping my fingers crossed that there aren't any problems with the train as planning to meet friends for drinks in the eve. At least am keeping busy to take my mind off missing DS.

I've kind of ended up seeing three different guys and it's all getting a bit um....complex!

How do you decide who to keep seeing?

Guy 1 at first seemed very promising - he's very good looking (has done modeling) and seemed nice, normal etc. However the more I saw of him the less I liked him. We have to keep having a conversation about how everyone thinks he's attractive, but he doesn't and what do I think? And his post coital conversation leaves rather a lot to be desired and is usually about how it was for me and what I think of his body parts

Guy 2 I have to be careful of because he is in my social circle. He's nice but was a bit full on with me which has made me run the other way. I was walking up the road with dd3 and he wanted me to come into the pub and be all coupley with him which I found a bit weird. He's also always pressing to find out what I'm doing......

Guy 3 is yet another Italian guy - perhaps I will have to come to terms with having a thing for Italian men. I like him because he is cool but also nice but the problem is I doubt he will stay in the UK.....

number 2 may be genuinely keen,so i would say number 2 or 3

well he did come over last night (about half 11 apologising profusely) stopped until I kicked him out about half 1. I am now with 3 more pressies under the tree (well only 2 as he wanted me to open one last night) - the joke one lol. was funny. (his football teams maths set - quite appropriate considering my degree/job lol) the other 2 - one looks like chocs the other looks like god knows what lol. still was fantastic to see him even if I was tired. lots of kissing, even more laughing, and he actually looked hotter than before he went away - roll on seeing him after the new year lol.

he went this morning, after kids had come in and squealed about their stockings and will be back this evening

they are all delighted with their gifts, all opened in about 10 mins flat, remind me not to worry too much about the quality of the wrapping ever again

i also just found 40 quid by my bed, mechanic had left it here for me this morning to go towards the food and drink he has been eating

Morning all - Merry Xmas to all of us and families.

Ditto - our presents were unwrapped in about ten mins flat. DCs seem happy with what they got and weren't too worried about the contents of their stockings (my main worry)

KDK - don't lose heart - its early days - I think I was quite sensitive to each person when I started out but almost learned to detach myself from it and grew a thicker skin. I consciously changed my mindset IYKWIM

I don't have a specific success story - I did date a guy for about six months but the overall success story is that I have come a long way regarding my own self esteem from when I started out, I've had plenty of fun, recently have not been short of male attention in RL and overall feel pretty optimistic on the 'man front' despite being the wrong side of 40.

However I ' m not particularly looking for a new partner as such but if someone exceptional came along might consider.

Right off to sort out the kitchen, cook lunch and make a trifle.

Now the big day is actually here I always feel less tense and worried. The immediate lead up absolutely does me in.

Had the royal wave from exh, new p and the dts from their doorstep yesterday.

All very nice but then found out that the pressie from the dcs to me had been derided (it was an R&B CD) with 'how can your mother like that vile music'!!!

Yeah right I'm a real gangsta doncha know.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE

I already am recovering from from to much food and wine last night, don't know if I'll be able to do it again this afternoon, ah well I can give it a go!

the mechanic is at work, had 6 jobs already, which is busy for xmas day, but his boss just called him and said to make up for being so busy he will give him 30% of all the money from the jobs he does as a bonus, which is good

oh and last night he told me he thought i could really be the one for him

kids had a bit of a tiff which escalated into a screaming match, when i intervened they started yelling at me so i top trumped them and yelled they were ungrateful and upsetting me, then went to calm down with a fag

I am just about to prepare the food for later and then have a bath i think, with something not too strong but bubbly and tasty in my glass

ooh i forgot to say, it turns out it is not only cars the mechanic is good at doing, he did his old place up from a shell, so he said if i make a list of diy jobs to be done, he will do then HAPPY DAYS

right i am off to find a drink and get the veg sorted

I can't even find anyone to fix my cistern and actually got the fire brigade round to check the house 'cos I knew that they would check my smoke alarm and they actually fitted a further one . Sadly none of them were fanciable but extremely grateful to them!

Once asked exh to do something to ds1s bike and he said he was on his way to meet someone for lunch and couldn't get his hands dirty (fey emoticon).

Sun is shining - turkey in the oven - clean floors (yes I know on Xmas Day I have been mopping floors) - dcs quietish - I'm happy.
