Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
aseriouslyblondemoment · 24/06/2009 20:32

ohh jesus rj
had meant to ask you how this was going actually
ridiculous isn't it?
evening everyone else hope you're all enjoying the nice weather!
and am knocking back the rose here as uh oh think i'll prob be meeting actionman's parents at the weekend

DeeLerious · 24/06/2009 20:50

Isn't meeting the parents a serious move? Weather & wine a fab combination, even without exh. Kids pick up on the mood as well! Got to get dd2 in bed now & she's in party mode! Help!

ridingjoker · 24/06/2009 20:54

omg asbm - his parents already. that would have me running for the hills. you've got some balls.

so far we have morangie man, bigT and most recently just arrived which i'm rather suprised was a secret farmer(i grew up on farm too), we're yacking grazinf and arable techniques.

some conversations are very sad eh?

got a few others i'm trying to delicately get rid of. as were nice to chat to. but dont really rock my boat.

janos - there's a time and a place for scruffy. but they have to be able to be tidy aswell.

lou33 · 24/06/2009 20:54

i am off early tomorrow to go see darkhorse

i think this weekend will be uneventful as i wont be seeing him, so will be relying on you asbm to come back filled with gossip!

ridingjoker · 24/06/2009 21:13

haha. yeah i think asbm will have all the news this wkd?

ridingjoker · 24/06/2009 22:53

hmmm...... so the farmer has never dated anyone with kids before.

says he tried not to.

but had a fair old chin wag on msn, even after this discussion. not entirely sure if he's perhaps considering it now. dont think i will hear from him again though. completely understandable, but he was interested in how it works with kids.

i said

"em.. you would be dating me, not my kids", and wouldn't be meeting them unless things got serious.

think he had this impression they'd be tagging along on dates ffs.

where do men get the impression that by dating a single mother that the children are going to be thrust upon them within a few weeks and want to call them "dad"

ridingjoker · 24/06/2009 22:54

just read that back. he was actually a very nice bloke though. shame he's fallen for the stereotype hype

DeeLerious · 25/06/2009 00:33

rj you'll just have to plough on (sorry couldn't resist) he may be keener than you think as you have some common ground there. Perhaps you should refer to your kids as your little lambs to put him at ease.
Always wished I'd been brought up on a farm when I was a kid. Bet you had some Enid Blyton style fun!

ridingjoker · 25/06/2009 08:05

enid blyton my arse

used to get up go to work and get covered in shit.

quick face wash. go to school stinking of animal shit.

come home. do more work. add to stink of shit.

go in have dinner, watch simpsons, wash off the shit and go to bed to start again.

lol... there was other great stuff too i suppose.

we're off to royal highland show today actually woooohooooo

might find a fit farmer there in the beer tent

lostinthecitylover · 25/06/2009 10:36

ooh asbm - meeting the parents eh!! Mind I would find that interesting anyway. Gives away more clues about the person.

RJ - yes samename who hasn't even met mine yet has gone from saying 'bless' (yuk) when I talked about ds2 to 'your kids seem very needy'!!!Because if we are talking on the phone invariably they will be shouting for me or something will happen during the course of the convo. Doesn't bode well does it really!!

Other childless friends find this very irritating too it seems. Sorta shows they don't have a clue as I didn't before I had kids!!

DeeLerious · 25/06/2009 10:54

Why do they do that when you're on the phone?
All kids are needy. They're kids. That's what they do.
Oh rj - all my farm day dreams have been shit dashed! What happened to the lashings of ginger beer and buttermilk, home made cakes and pies, bags of lettuce & dear little puppies, kittens, piglets, lambs, chicks and such like? Lol!

aseriouslyblondemoment · 25/06/2009 11:06

hey relax everyone!
its only a maybe tho knowing him it's a def.maybe
scl you're not sounding sure about samename at all here
rj ooh enjoy and fingers crossed that you do,shame if the farmer has such narrow minded views about us single mums tho
but hey his loss isn't it?

lostinthecitylover · 25/06/2009 12:11

ASBM I don't know if it's that I'm unsure or just that I am a bit overwhelmed with many other things and fed up with everything atm.

And AF has still not arrived!!

Remotew · 25/06/2009 12:17

It's probably a reflection on the younger men that RJ is interested in that have any ishoos with kids.

Women of a certain age without children are unusual so men they date will expect children in the picture. It's only when they leave home that one can give the undivided attention to a man which most of them seem to want. At least that's what I'm telling myself.

raggedtrouseredphilanthropist · 25/06/2009 13:31

hi everyone.
been away for a few days (nowhere nice - just work), so not been posting.
asbm - meeting parents! :0 and also
rj - I did have a peek at greenie - i tend to veer away from people who put jokes in their profiles, asI think they are trying too hard. and what a good reply you did to him!
dee - great to see a new face on here!

sorry to everyone I missed out, as usual.

I am emailing a guy off pof. We have lots of common interests, and he seems nice enough, but just doesnt seem to have much, you know, intelligence? I am such a snob, but I have postgrad degrees, and want someone I can talk to about that kind of stuff. But, I will wait til we meet up (if we do) and judge him then! lol

My mind is also constantly flitting back to my ex-mate who cant see me cos he has feelings for me. I think I think about him almost everyday - I really miss him. Hmm, maybe that is telling me something, or maybe I am just a bit sad and lonely at the mo...

ninah · 25/06/2009 13:34

great eve so I will be 60 before I can go on the hunt seriously, v cheering!
asbm, parents, wow, still have not met nm's mum though he has mentioned a few times, seems to be going well!
scl could you be???
not sure how things are with nm, run out of steam a bit (to borrow a train metaphor) I'm getting restless at seeing him part-time, would like a bit more or a bit less iyswim, either just friends/company/casual or the whole settling down bit
he is still married and I wanted to ask him about that but in the end I didn't bother, cos the settling down bit, me and him, I just can't picture it
I'm in cornwall too this weekend, will look out for man with piano! and hope I come to soem decision by when I get back because now it isn't fun any more it's doing my head in

LouLovesAeroplaneJelly · 25/06/2009 13:41

found one for you
go to POF and look at the_boyz
I will leave the floor open for comments.....

raggedtrouseredphilanthropist · 25/06/2009 13:43

blimey lou
and 156 people have them as their favourites?!

LouLovesAeroplaneJelly · 25/06/2009 13:45

So do they do everything as a team????

DeeLerious · 25/06/2009 13:59

Ninah - sounds like you've already made up your mind.

rtp - sounds like your ex friend is more than that to you and you're just realising it. (i can see Julia Roberts playing your part!)

litcl - you ok? Have you started yet or is that one of your worries? Will AF ? arriving cheer you up?

It's so hot out there Ive been tackling the wicked wisteria between typing. It's all too much - have had quite a lot of mail on pof & out of blue old colleague has just text to say thanks for bd card & expressed shit life without me in it. Must be a joke. Will call him. He has a partner & son though.

ninah · 25/06/2009 14:05

hello dee
nice to be missed I suppose!
yes I do feel as if I should end it, wanted to talk to him last night but I just couldn't find the words

lostinthecitylover · 25/06/2009 14:29

lol ninah - I have wondered whether to wait until ds2 is 18 (he was 8 just recently) but I'd be all dried up by then.

There is a slim chance I could be - I am using contraception but it does fail of course. However I do feel full of PMT (for once good) so let's hope it's just late.

ninah · 25/06/2009 15:01

well I am spoiling for a hormomal fight
didn't someone suggest we were mentruating in harmony on this thread?
I got to the point of doing a test when I first met nm, only to discover he'd had the snip

lostinthecitylover · 25/06/2009 15:53

yes it was me I think!!

ridingjoker · 25/06/2009 16:07

scl - i am almost 2 weeks late. ended up doing a test. was worried about having a thumb sucker in there. but negative. phew. terrible cramps though.

asbm - i'm still at parents.

lou - defo not seeing darkhorse this wkd?

ninah - would you like more or less of bf?honestly?

everyone with chatting on pof? any possible dates.

i have had a lovely day a highland show. kept think...... ooooooh i could definately have a farmer next time. ALOT of fit blokes. i may perhaps of flirted with a few while lying on the grass of beer tent with a shandy and kids running around.

and got back to an email for MrT, he'd asked when i mentionned horses did i ride, told him i did several times a week, and admitted i grew up on a farm, but was to be our secret.

his reply was that his secret was that he too grew up on a farm. i almost fell off the seat........ wooooo hoooooo a farmers son, who's quite fit, has child so understands, and wouldn't be a cocklodger. i've finally given him my PM ady, so will have to have a real time MSN and see if he has some decent convo before i agree to a date.he's already asked to meet for a coffee.

oooooooh farmers, farmers everywhere.
